ואלין פתגמי ספרא דשלח ירמיה נביא מירושלם לות שאר סבי גלותא ולות כהניא ולות ספריא ולות כל עמא דאגלי נבוכדנאצר מירושלם לבבל:
lbbl myrwshlm nbwkdnatsr dagly ema kl wlwth sprya wlwth khnya wlwth glwtha sby shar lwth myrwshlm nbya yrmyh dshlkh spra pthgmy walyn
Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

בתר דגלא יכניה מלכא ומלכותא ורברביא רברבי יהודה וירושלם ואומניא ותרעיא מירושלם:
myrwshlm wthreya wawmnya wyrwshlm yhwdh rbrby wrbrbya wmlkwtha mlka yknyh dgla bthr
(after Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem),

ביד אלעשה בר שפן וגמריה בר חלקיה דשלח צדקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה לות נבוכדנאצר מלכא דבבל לבבל למימר:
lmymr lbbl dbbl mlka nbwkdnatsr lwth yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk tsdqyh dshlkh khlqyh br wgmryh shpn br aleshh byd
by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon). It said:

כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל לכל גלותא דאגליתי מירושלם לבבל:
lbbl myrwshlm daglythy glwtha lkl dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:

בנו בתין ותיבו וצובו גנין ואכילו ית אביהן:
abyhn yth wakylw gnyn wtswbw wthybw bthyn bnw
“Build houses and dwell in them. Plant gardens and eat their fruit.

סבו נשין ואולידו בנין ובנן וסבו לבניכון נשין וית בנתיכון הבו לגבריא וילידת בנין ובנן וסגו תמן ולא תזערון:
thzerwn wla thmn wsgw wbnn bnyn wylydth lgbrya hbw bnthykwn wyth nshyn lbnykwn wsbw wbnn bnyn wawlydw nshyn sbw
Take wives and father sons and daughters. Take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters. Multiply there, and don’t be diminished.

ותבעו ית שלם קרתא דאגליתי יתכון לתמן וצלו עלה קדם יי ארי בשלמה יהי לכון שלם:
shlm lkwn yhy bshlmh ary yy qdm elh wtslw lthmn ythkwn daglythy qrtha shlm yth wthbew
Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”

ארי כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל לא יטעון לכון נביאיכון דשקרא דביניכון וקסמיכון ולא תקבלון מן חלמי חלמכון דאתון מחלמין:
mkhlmyn dathwn khlmkwn khlmy mn thqblwn wla wqsmykwn dbynykwn dshqra nbyaykwn lkwn yTewn la dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn ary
For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: “Don’t let your prophets who are among you and your diviners deceive you. Don’t listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.

ארי בשקרא אינון מתנבן לכון בשמי לא שלחתינון אמר יי:
yy amr shlkhthynwn la bshmy lkwn mthnbn aynwn bshqra ary
For they prophesy falsely to you in my name. I have not sent them,” says Yahweh.

ארי כדנן אמר יי ארי לפום משלם לבבל שבעין שנין ייעול דכרנכון קדמי ואקים עליכון ית פתגמי תקנא לאתבא יתכון לאתרא הדין:
hdyn lathra ythkwn lathba thqna pthgmy yth elykwn waqym qdmy dkrnkwn yyewl shnyn shbeyn lbbl mshlm lpwm ary yy amr kdnn ary
For Yahweh says, “After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

ארי קדמי גלין ית מחשבתא די אנא מחשב עליכון אמר יי מחשבת שלמא לא לבישא למתן לכון סוף וסבור:
wsbwr swp lkwn lmthn lbysha la shlma mkhshbth yy amr elykwn mkhshb ana dy mkhshbtha yth glyn qdmy ary
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

ותצלון קדמי ואקבל צלותכון ותבעון מן קדמי ואעביד בעותכון:
bewthkwn waebyd qdmy mn wthbewn tslwthkwn waqbl qdmy wthtslwn
You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
13
ותתבעון דחלתי ותשכחון ארי תבעו מן קדמי בכל לבכון:
lbkwn bkl qdmy mn thbew ary wthshkkhwn dkhlthy wththbewn
You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.
14
ואשתאיל לכון במימרי אמר יי ואתיב ית גלותכון ואכנוש יתכון מכל עממיא ומכל אתריא דאגליתי יתכון לתמן אמר יי ואתיב יתכון לאתרא דאגליתי יתכון מתמן:
mthmn ythkwn daglythy lathra ythkwn wathyb yy amr lthmn ythkwn daglythy athrya wmkl emmya mkl ythkwn waknwsh glwthkwn yth wathyb yy amr bmymry lkwn washthayl
I will be found by you,” says Yahweh, “and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you,” says Yahweh. “I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.”

ארי אמרתון אקים לנא יי מלפין בבבל:
bbbl mlpyn yy lna aqym amrthwn ary
Because you have said, “Yahweh has raised us up prophets in Babylon,”

ארי כדנן אמר יי על מלכא דיתיב על כורסי דוד ועל כל עמא דיתיב בארעא הדא אחיכון דלא נפקו עמכון בגלותא:
bglwtha emkwn npqw dla akhykwn hda barea dythyb ema kl wel dwd kwrsy el dythyb mlka el yy amr kdnn ary
Yahweh says concerning the king who sits on David’s throne, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven’t gone with you into captivity,

כדנן אמר יי צבאות האנא מגרי בהון ית דקטלין בחרבא ובכפנא ומותא ואתן יתהון כתיניא בישתא דלא מתאכלן מבישו:
mbyshw mthakln dla byshtha kthynya ythhwn wathn wmwtha wbkpna bkhrba dqTlyn yth bhwn mgry hana tsbawth yy amr kdnn
Yahweh of Armies says: “Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like rotten figs that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.

וארדוף בתריהון בחרבא ובכפנא ובמותא ואתנינון לזיע לכל מלכות ארעא למומי ולצדו ולאשתממו ולחיסודין לכל עממיא דאגליתינון לתמן:
lthmn daglythynwn emmya lkl wlkhyswdyn wlashthmmw wltsdw lmwmy area mlkwth lkl lzye wathnynwn wbmwtha wbkpna bkhrba bthryhwn wardwp
I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them,

חלף דלא קבילו לפתגמי אמר יי דשלחית לותכון ית עבדי נבייא מקדים ומשלח ולא קבילתון אמר יי:
yy amr qbylthwn wla wmshlkh mqdym nbyya ebdy yth lwthkwn dshlkhyth yy amr lpthgmy qbylw dla khlp
because they have not listened to my words,” says Yahweh, “with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear,” says Yahweh.

ואתון קבילו פתגמא דיי כל גלותא דאגליתי מירושלם לבבל:
lbbl myrwshlm daglythy glwtha kl dyy pthgma qbylw wathwn
Hear therefore Yahweh’s word, all you captives whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
21
כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל על אחאב בר קוליה ועל צדקיה בר מעשיה דאתנביאו לכון בשמי שקרא האנא מסר יתהון ביד נבוכדראצר מלכא דבבל ויקטלינון לעיניכון:
leynykwn wyqTlynwn dbbl mlka nbwkdratsr byd ythhwn msr hana shqra bshmy lkwn dathnbyaw meshyh br tsdqyh wel qwlyh br akhab el dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: “Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he will kill them before your eyes.

ויתנסיב מנהון לוטא לכל גלות יהודה די בבבל למימר ישוינך יי כצדקיה וכאחב דקלינון מלכא דבבל בנורא:
bnwra dbbl mlka dqlynwn wkakhb ktsdqyh yy yshwynk lmymr bbbl dy yhwdh glwth lkl lwTa mnhwn wythnsyb
A curse will be taken up about them by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, ‘Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;’

חלף דעבדו קלנא בישראל וזניאו ית נשי חבריהון ומלילו פתגמא בשמי שקרא דלא פקידתינון וקדמי גלי ומימרי סהיד אמר יי:
yy amr shyd wmymry gly wqdmy pqydthynwn dla shqra bshmy pthgma wmlylw khbryhwn nshy yth wznyaw byshral qlna debdw khlp
because they have done foolish things in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I didn’t command them. I am he who knows, and am witness,” says Yahweh.

ולשמעיה דמן חלם תימר למימר:
lmymr thymr khlm dmn wlshmeyh
Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,
25
כדנן אמר יי צבאות אלהא דישראל למימר חלף דשלחתא בשמך אגרן לות כל עמא די בירושלם ולות צפניה בר מעשיה כהנא ולות כל כהניא למימר:
lmymr khnya kl wlwth khna meshyh br tspnyh wlwth byrwshlm dy ema kl lwth agrn bshmk dshlkhtha khlp lmymr dyshral alha tsbawth yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

יי מניך כהן חלף יהוידע כהנא למהוי ממנא סגן כהניא בבית מקדשא דיי לכל גבר דמשתלי ומטפש ותתן יתיה לכיפתא ולגו צינוקא:
tsynwqa wlgw lkyptha ythyh wththn wmTpsh dmshthly gbr lkl dyy mqdsha bbyth khnya sgn mmna lmhwy khna yhwyde khlp khn mnyk yy
“Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.
27
וכען למה לא נזפת בירמיה דמן ענתות דמתנבא לכון:
lkwn dmthnba enthwth dmn byrmyh nzpth la lmh wken
Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,
28
ארי על כן שלח לותנא לבבל למימר אריכא היא בנו בתין ותיבו וצובו גנין ואכולו ית אבהון:
abhwn yth wakwlw gnyn wtswbw wthybw bthyn bnw hya aryka lmymr lbbl lwthna shlkh kn el ary
because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long. Build houses, and dwell in them. Plant gardens, and eat their fruit?”’”
29
וקרא צפניה כהנא ית אגרתא הדא קדם ירמיה נביא:
nbya yrmyh qdm hda agrtha yth khna tspnyh wqra
Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.
30
והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם ירמיה למימר:
lmymr yrmyh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, saying,
31
שלח לות כל בני גלותא למימר כדנן אמר יי על שמעיה דמן חלם חלף דאתנבי לכון שמעיה ואנא לא שלחתיה וארחיץ יתכון על שקרא:
shqra el ythkwn warkhyts shlkhthyh la wana shmeyh lkwn dathnby khlp khlm dmn shmeyh el yy amr kdnn lmymr glwtha bny kl lwth shlkh
“Send to all of the captives, saying, ‘Yahweh says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: “Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I didn’t send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie,”

בכן כדנן אמר יי הא אנא מסער על שמעיה דמן חלם ועל בנוהי לא יהי ליה גבר יתיב בגו עמא הדין ולא יחזי בטובא דאנא עביד לעמי אמר יי ארי סטיא מליל קדם יי:
yy qdm mlyl sTya ary yy amr lemy ebyd dana bTwba ykhzy wla hdyn ema bgw ythyb gbr lyh yhy la bnwhy wel khlm dmn shmeyh el mser ana ha yy amr kdnn bkn
therefore Yahweh says, “Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his offspring. He will not have a man to dwell among this people. He won’t see the good that I will do to my people,” says Yahweh, “because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.”’”
