בריש מלכות יהויקים בר יאשיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה הוה פתגמא הדין מן קדם יי למימר:
lmymr yy qdm mn hdyn pthgma hwh yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk yashyh br yhwyqym mlkwth brysh
In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from Yahweh:

כדנן אמר יי קום בדרת בית מקדשא דיי ותתנבי על כל קרויא דבית יהודה דעלין למסגד בבית מקדשא דיי ית כל פתגמיא דפקידתך לאתנבאה להון לא תמנע פתגם:
pthgm thmne la lhwn lathnbah dpqydthk pthgmya kl yth dyy mqdsha bbyth lmsgd delyn yhwdh dbyth qrwya kl el wththnby dyy mqdsha byth bdrth qwm yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh says: ‘Stand in the court of Yahweh’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah which come to worship in Yahweh’s house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Don’t omit a word.

מאים ישמעון ויתובון גבר מאורחיה בישא ואתיב מן בישתא דאנא חשיב למעבד להון מקדם בישות עובדיהון:
ewbdyhwn byshwth mqdm lhwn lmebd khshyb dana byshtha mn wathyb bysha mawrkhyh gbr wythwbwn yshmewn maym
It may be they will listen, and every man turn from his evil way, that I may relent from the evil which I intend to do to them because of the evil of their doings.’”

ותימר להון כדנן אמר יי אם לא תקבלון למימרי למהך באוריתי דיהבית קדמיכון:
qdmykwn dyhbyth bawrythy lmhk lmymry thqblwn la am yy amr kdnn lhwn wthymr
You shall tell them, “Yahweh says: ‘If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law which I have set before you,

לקבלא לפתגמי עבדי נבייא דאנא שלח לותכון מקדם ומשלח ולא קבילתון:
qbylthwn wla wmshlkh mqdm lwthkwn shlkh dana nbyya ebdy lpthgmy lqbla
to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you, even rising up early and sending them—but you have not listened—

ואתן ית ביתא הדין כשלו וית קרתא הדא אתן ללוטא לכל עממי ארעא:
area emmy lkl llwTa athn hda qrtha wyth kshlw hdyn bytha yth wathn
then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’”

ושמעו כהניא וספריא וכל עמא דירמיה מתנבי ית פתגמיא האלין בבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha bbyth halyn pthgmya yth mthnby dyrmyh ema wkl wsprya khnya wshmew
The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in Yahweh’s house.

והוה כד שיצי ירמיה לאתנבאה ית כל דפקיד יי למללא עם כל עמא ואחדו יתיה כהניא וספריא וכל עמא למימר מימת תמות:
thmwth mymth lmymr ema wkl wsprya khnya ythyh wakhdw ema kl em lmlla yy dpqyd kl yth lathnbah yrmyh shytsy kd whwh
When Jeremiah had finished speaking all that Yahweh had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, “You shall surely die!

מדין אתנביתא בשמא דיי למימר כשלו יהי ביתא הדין וקרתא הדא תחרוב מבלי יתיב ואתכניש כל עמא על ירמיה בבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha bbyth yrmyh el ema kl wathknysh ythyb mbly thkhrwb hda wqrtha hdyn bytha yhy kshlw lmymr dyy bshma athnbytha mdyn
Why have you prophesied in Yahweh’s name, saying, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate, without inhabitant’?” All the people were crowded around Jeremiah in Yahweh’s house.

ושמעו רברבי יהודה ית פתגמיא האלין וסליקו מבית מלכא לבית מקדשא דיי ותיבו במעלנא דתרע בית מקדשא דיי מדינחאה:
mdynkhah dyy mqdsha byth dthre bmelna wthybw dyy mqdsha lbyth mlka mbyth wslyqw halyn pthgmya yth yhwdh rbrby wshmew
When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to Yahweh’s house; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house.

ואמרו כהניא וספריא לרברביא ולכל עמא למימר חובת דין דקטול לגברא הדין ארי אתנבי על קרתא הדא כמה דשמעתון באודניכון:
bawdnykwn dshmethwn kmh hda qrtha el athnby ary hdyn lgbra dqTwl dyn khwbth lmymr ema wlkl lrbrbya wsprya khnya wamrw
Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying, “This man is worthy of death, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

ואמר ירמיה לכל רברביא ולכל עמא למימר יי שלחני לאתנבאה על ביתא הדין ועל קרתא הדא ית כל פתגמיא דשמעתון:
dshmethwn pthgmya kl yth hda qrtha wel hdyn bytha el lathnbah shlkhny yy lmymr ema wlkl rbrbya lkl yrmyh wamr
Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

וכען אתקינו אורחתכון ועובדיכון וקבילו למימרא דיי אלהכון ויתוב יי מן בישתא דמליל עליכון:
elykwn dmlyl byshtha mn yy wythwb alhkwn dyy lmymra wqbylw wewbdykwn awrkhthkwn athqynw wken
Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey Yahweh your God’s voice; then Yahweh will relent from the evil that he has pronounced against you.

ואנא האנא מסיר בידכון עבידו לי כמה דתקין וכמה דכשר בעיניכון:
beynykwn dkshr wkmh dthqyn kmh ly ebydw bydkwn msyr hana wana
But as for me, behold, I am in your hand. Do with me what is good and right in your eyes.

ברם מידע תידעון ארי אם קטלין אתון יתי ארי דם זכאי אתון יהבין עליכון ועל קרתא הדא ועל יתבהא ארי בקשוט שלחני יי עליכון לאתנבאה קדמיכון ית כל פתגמיא האלין:
halyn pthgmya kl yth qdmykwn lathnbah elykwn yy shlkhny bqshwT ary ythbha wel hda qrtha wel elykwn yhbyn athwn zkay dm ary ythy athwn qTlyn am ary thydewn myde brm
Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for in truth Yahweh has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”

ואמרו רברביא וכל עמא לכהניא ולספריא לית לגברא הדין חובת דין דקטול ארי בשמא דיי אלהנא מליל עמנא:
emna mlyl alhna dyy bshma ary dqTwl dyn khwbth hdyn lgbra lyth wlsprya lkhnya ema wkl rbrbya wamrw
Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets: “This man is not worthy of death; for he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.”

וקמו גבריא מסבי ארעא ואמרו לכל קהלא דעמא למימר:
lmymr dema qhla lkl wamrw area msby gbrya wqmw
Then certain of the elders of the land rose up, and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying,

מיכה דממרישא הוה מתנבי ביומי חזקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה ואמר לכל עמא דבית יהודה למימר כדנן אמר יי צבאות ציון חקל תתרדי וירושלם ליגרין תהי וטור בית מקדשא דיי לחישת חורשא:
khwrsha lkhyshth dyy mqdsha byth wTwr thhy lygryn wyrwshlm ththrdy khql tsywn tsbawth yy amr kdnn lmymr yhwdh dbyth ema lkl wamr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk khzqyh bywmy mthnby hwh dmmrysha mykh
“Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “‘Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’

המקטל קטלוהי חזקיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה הלא דחיל מן קדם יי וצלי קדם יי ותב יי מן בישתא דמליל עליהון ואנחנא גרמין לאיתאה בישתא רבתא על נפשתא:
npshtha el rbtha byshtha laythah grmyn wankhna elyhwn dmlyl byshtha mn yy wthb yy qdm wtsly yy qdm mn dkhyl hla yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk khzqyh qTlwhy hmqTl
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Didn’t he fear Yahweh, and entreat the favor of Yahweh, and Yahweh relented of the disaster which he had pronounced against them? We would commit great evil against our own souls that way!”

ואף גברא הוה מתנבי בשמא דיי אוריה בר שמעיה מקרית יערים ואתנבי על קרתא הדא ועל ארעא הדא ככל פתגמי ירמיה:
yrmyh pthgmy kkl hda area wel hda qrtha el wathnby yerym mqryth shmeyh br awryh dyy bshma mthnby hwh gbra wap
There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.

ושמע מלכא יהויקים וכל גברוהי וכל רברביא ית פתגמוהי ובעא מלכא למקטליה ושמע אוריה ודחיל וערק ואתא למצרים:
lmtsrym watha werq wdkhyl awryh wshme lmqTlyh mlka wbea pthgmwhy yth rbrbya wkl gbrwhy wkl yhwyqym mlka wshme
When Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Uriah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt.

ושלח מלכא יהויקים גברין למצרים ית אלנתן בר עכבור וגברין עמיה למצרים:
lmtsrym emyh wgbryn ekbwr br alnthn yth lmtsrym gbryn yhwyqym mlka wshlkh
Then Jehoiakim the king sent Elnathan the son of Achbor and certain men with him into Egypt.

ואפיקו ית אוריה ממצרים ואיתיוהי לות מלכא יהויקים וקטליה בחרבא ורמא ית נבלתיה לקברי גליא:
glya lqbry nblthyh yth wrma bkhrba wqTlyh yhwyqym mlka lwth waythywhy mmtsrym awryh yth wapyqw
They fetched Uriah out of Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
