ܦܬܓܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ
pthgm' dhw' el 'rmy' mn qdm mry' lm'mr
The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

ܩܘܡ ܚܘܬ ܠܒܝܬ ܦܚܪܐ ܘܬܡܢ ܐܫܡܥܟ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ
qwm khwth lbyth pkhr' wthmn 'shmek pthgmy
“Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”

ܘܢܚܬܬ ܠܒܝܬ ܦܚܪܐ ܐܝܟ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܗܐ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ ܥܒܕܐ ܥܠ ܣܕܢܐ
wnkhthth lbyth pkhr' 'yk pthgmh dmry' wh' hw ebd ebd' el sdn'
Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the wheels.

ܘܐܬܚܒܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܐܢܐ ܕܛܝܢܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܗܘܐ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܕܦܚܪܐ ܘܗܦܟ ܘܥܒܕܗ ܡܐܢܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܨܒܐ

When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܠܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Then Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

ܐܝܟ ܦܚܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܛܝܢܐ ܒܐܝ̈ܕܝ ܦܚܪܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'yk pkhr' hn' l' mshkkh 'n' d'ebd lkwn byth 'ysryl 'mr mry' h' 'yk Tyn' b'ydy pkhr' hkn' 'nthwn b'ydy byth 'ysryl
“House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says Yahweh. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.

ܐܢ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܥܡܐ ܘܥܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܠܡܥܩܪ ܘܠܡܣܬܪ ܘܠܡܣܚܦܘ ܘܠܡܘܒܕܘ
'n mn shly' 'mr el em' wel mlkwth' lmeqr wlmsthr wlmskhpw wlmwbdw
At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it,

ܘܢܬܘܒ ܥܡܐ ܗܘ ܡܢ ܒܝܫܬܗ ܐܗܦܟ ܡܢܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܠܗ
wnthwb em' hw mn byshthh 'hpk mnh byshth' d'thkhshbth lmebd lh
if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.

ܘܐܢ ܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܥܡܐ ܘܥܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܠܡܒܢܐ ܘܠܡܨܒ

At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,

ܘܢܥܒܕ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡܝ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܡܥ ܒܩܠܝ ܐܗܦܟ ܡܢܗ ܛܒܬܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܡܛܐܒܘ ܠܗ

if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܠܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܐ ܒܪܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܡܬܚܫܒ ܐܢܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܬܘܒܘ ܘܐܬܦܢܘ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܐܛܐܒܘ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟܘܢ ܘܥܒ̈ܕܝܟܘܢ

“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.”’

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܬܚܝܠ ܘܒܬܪ ܡܚܫ̈ܒܬܢ ܢܐܙܠ ܘܐܢܫ ܨܒܝܢ̈ܝ ܠܒܗ ܒܝܫܐ ܢܥܒܕ

But they say, ‘It is in vain; for we will walk after our own plans, and we will each follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܫܐܠܘ ܒܝܬ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܡܢܘ ܥܒܕ ܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܒܬܘܠܬܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
mTl hn' hkn' 'mr mry' sh'lw byth emm' mnw ebd 'yk hlyn shTywth' rbth' ebdth bthwlth' d'ysryl
Therefore Yahweh says: “Ask now among the nations, ‘Who has heard such things?’ The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.

ܐܢ ܥܢܕ ܡܢ ܛܘܪ ܬ̈ܕܝܐ ܬܠܓܐ ܘܡܢ ܠܒܢܢ ܘܐܢ ܡܬܟܠܝܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܩܪ̈ܝܪܐ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܪܕܝܢ
'n end mn Twr thdy' thlg' wmn lbnn w'n mthklyn my' qryr' nwkry' drdyn
Will the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Will the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܛܥܐܘܢܝ ܥܡܝ ܘܠܣܪܝܩܘܬܐ ܣܡܘ ܒܣ̈ܡܐ ܘܐܬܬܩܠܘ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗܘܢ ܒܫ̈ܒܝܠܐ ܕܥܠܡ ܠܡܐܙܠ ܒܫ̈ܒܝܠܐ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܕܪܝܫܐ
mTwl dTe'wny emy wlsryqwth' smw bsm' w'ththqlw b'wrkhthhwn bshbyl' delm lm'zl bshbyl' b'wrkh' dl' drysh'
For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,

ܠܡܥܒܕ ܐܪܥܗܘܢ ܠܬܡܗܐ ܘܠܡܫܪܘܩܝܬܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܘܟܠ ܕܢܥܒܪ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܢܬܡܗ ܘܢܢܝܕ ܒܪܝܫܗ
lmebd 'rehwn lthmh' wlmshrwqyth' lelm wkl dnebr elyh nthmh wnnyd bryshh
to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and shake his head.

ܐܝܟ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܫܘܒܐ ܐܒܕܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܐ ܩܕܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܐ̈ܦܐ ܐܚܘܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܥܩܬܗܘܢ
'yk rwkh' dshwb' 'bdr 'nwn qdm beldbb' qdl' wl' 'p' 'khw' 'nwn bywm' deqthhwn
I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy. I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܬܘ ܢܬܚܫܒ ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܡܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܐܒܕ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܢ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܚܟ̈ܝܡܐ ܘܡܠܬܐ ܡܢ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܬܘ ܢܡܚܝܘܗܝ ܒܠܫܢܗ ܘܠܐ ܢܨܘܬ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܘܗܝ

Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”

ܨܘܬܝܢܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܫܡܥ ܩܠ ܥܘܠܒܢܝ

Give heed to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.

ܐܬܦܪܥ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܚܠܦ ܛܒܬܐ ܕܚܦܪܘ ܓܘܡܨܐ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܐܬܕܟܪ ܕܩܡܬ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܘܡܠܠܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܡܗܦܟܘ ܚܡܬܟ ܡܢܗܘܢ
'thpre byshth' khlp Tbth' dkhprw gwmts' lnpshy 'thdkr dqmth qdmyk wmllth elyhwn Tbth' lmhpkw khmthk mnhwn
Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܒ ܒ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ ܠܟܦܢܐ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܚܪܒܐ ܢܗ̈ܘܝܢ ܢܝܫ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܡ̈ܓܙܝܢ ܘܐܪ̈ܡܠܢ ܘܓܒܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܩ̈ܛܝܠܝ ܡܘܬܐ ܘܥ̈ܠܝܡܝܗܘܢ ܩ̈ܛܝܠܝ ܚܪܒܐ ܒܩܪܒܐ
mTl hn' hb bnyhwn lkpn' w'shlm 'nwn l'ydy khrb' nhwyn nyshyhwn mgzyn w'rmln wgbryhwn nhwwn qTyly mwth' welymyhwn qTyly khrb' bqrb'
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widows. Let their men be killed and their young men struck by the sword in battle.

ܬܫܬܡܥ ܐܝܠܠܬܐ ܡܢ ܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܬܝܬܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܓܝܣܐ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܚܦܪܘ ܓܘܡܨܐ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܠܡܐܚܕܢܝ ܘܦܚ̈ܐ ܛܡܪܘ ܠܪ̈ܓܠܝ

Let a cry be heard from their houses when you bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.

ܘܐܢܬ ܡܪܝܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܟܠ ܕܐܬܪܥܝܘ ܥܠܝ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܚܣܐ ܥܠ ܥܘܠܗܘܢ ܘܚ̈ܛܗܝܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܠܐ ܬܥܛܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܪܡܝܢ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܘܒܙܒܢ ܪܘܓܙܟ ܥܒܪ ܒܗܘܢ

Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.
