דהוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם ירמיה על עסקי בוצרתא:
bwtsrtha esqy el yrmyh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm dhwh
This is Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:

אתאבלו דבית יהודה וקרויהון חרובא אתחפיאו אפיהון אכרום אוכמין כקדרא אתרטישו לארעא וצוחת יתבי ירושלם סליקת:
slyqth yrwshlm ythby wtswkhth larea athrTyshw kqdra awkmyn akrwm apyhwn athkhpyaw khrwba wqrwyhwn yhwdh dbyth athablw
“Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.

ותקיפיהון שלחו תניניהון למיא אתו על פצידיא ולא אשכחו מיא תבו מניהון ריקן בהיתו ואתכנעו וחפו רישיהון:
ryshyhwn wkhpw wathknew bhythw ryqn mnyhwn thbw mya ashkkhw wla ptsydya el athw lmya thnynyhwn shlkhw wthqypyhwn
Their nobles send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.

בדיל חובי יתבי ארעא אתברו ארי לא הוה מטרא בארעא בהיתו אכריא וחפו רישיהון:
ryshyhwn wkhpw akrya bhythw barea mTra hwh la ary athbrw area ythby khwby bdyl
Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.

ארי אף אילתא במדברא ילידת ושבקא ארי לא הוו דתאין דעשבא:
deshba dthayn hww la ary wshbqa ylydth bmdbra ayltha ap ary
Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.

וערדין קמו על נגדין שתן רוחא כירודין קמא עיניהון ארי לית עשבא:
eshba lyth ary eynyhwn qma kyrwdyn rwkha shthn ngdyn el qmw werdyn
The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.

אם חובנא אסהידו בנא יי עביד בדיל שמך ארי סגיאין תיובתנא קדמך חבנא:
khbna qdmk thywbthna sgyayn ary shmk bdyl ebyd yy bna ashydw khwbna am
Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.

סבור ישראל פרקיה בעדן עקא למה ייחול רוגזך עלנא ואנחנא כתותבין בארעא וכעדי אורחא דסטא למבתא:
lmbtha dsTa awrkha wkedy barea kthwthbyn wankhna elna rwgzk yykhwl lmh eqa bedn prqyh yshral sbwr
You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?

למה ייחול רוגזך עלנא ואנחנא מטלטלין ושביקין ואת גבר יכיל למפרק ואת שכינתך ביננא יי ושמך עלנא אתקרי לא תשבקיננא:
thshbqynna la athqry elna wshmk yy bynna shkynthk wath lmprq ykyl gbr wath wshbyqyn mTlTlyn wankhna elna rwgzk yykhwl lmh
Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, Yahweh, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.

כדנן אמר יי לעמא הדין כמא דרחימו כן אתפרע מנהון לאגליותהון מארע בית שכינתי וכמה דהוו מערבין לפולחן טעותא ומבית מקדשי רגליהון לא מנעו וקדם יי לא רעוא בהון כען יסער עליהון חוביהון ויתפרע עויתהון:
ewythhwn wythpre khwbyhwn elyhwn yser ken bhwn rewa la yy wqdm mnew la rglyhwn mqdshy wmbyth Tewtha lpwlkhn merbyn dhww wkmh shkynthy byth mare laglywthhwn mnhwn athpre kn drkhymw kma hdyn lema yy amr kdnn
Yahweh says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore Yahweh does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”

ואמר יי לי לא תצלי על עמא הדין לטבא:
lTba hdyn ema el thtsly la ly yy wamr
Yahweh said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.

ארי יצומון לא רעוא קדמי לקבלא צלותהון וארי יסקון עלתא ומנחתא לא רעוא קדמי בהון בחרבא ובכפנא ובמותא אנא משיצי יתהון:
ythhwn mshytsy ana wbmwtha wbkpna bkhrba bhwn qdmy rewa la wmnkhtha eltha ysqwn wary tslwthhwn lqbla qdmy rewa la ytswmwn ary
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence.”

ואמרית קבל בעותי יי אלהים הא נביי שקרא אמרין להון לא תחזון דקטלין בחרבא וכפנא לא יהי לכון ארי שלם דקשוט אתן לכון באתרא הדין:
hdyn bathra lkwn athn dqshwT shlm ary lkwn yhy la wkpna bkhrba dqTlyn thkhzwn la lhwn amryn shqra nbyy ha alhym yy bewthy qbl wamryth
Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”

ואמר יי לי שקרא אמרין נביי שקרא דמתנבן בשמי לא שלחתינון ולא פקדתינון ולא מללית עמהון נבואת שקר ואולפן וכדבין ורשע לבהון אינון מתנבן לכון:
lkwn mthnbn aynwn lbhwn wrshe wkdbyn wawlpn shqr nbwath emhwn mllyth wla pqdthynwn wla shlkhthynwn la bshmy dmthnbn shqra nbyy amryn shqra ly yy wamr
Then Yahweh said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.

בכן כדנן אמר יי על נביי שקרא דמתנבן בשמי ואנא לא שלחתינון ואינון אמרין חרבא וכפנא לא יהי בארעא הדא בחרבא ובכפנא יסופון נביי שקרא האינון:
haynwn shqra nbyy yswpwn wbkpna bkhrba hda barea yhy la wkpna khrba amryn waynwn shlkhthynwn la wana bshmy dmthnbn shqra nbyy el yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore Yahweh says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.

ועמא דאינון מתנבן להון יהון מטרפין רמן בשוקי ירושלם מן קדם כפנא וחרבא ולית דקבר להון אינון נשיהון בניהון ובנתיהון ואשפוך עליהון ית בישתהון:
byshthhwn yth elyhwn washpwk wbnthyhwn bnyhwn nshyhwn aynwn lhwn dqbr wlyth wkhrba kpna qdm mn yrwshlm bshwqy rmn mTrpyn yhwn lhwn mthnbn daynwn wema
The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.

ותימר להון ית פתגמא הדין ישגרן עיני דמען לילי וימם ולא ישתקן ארי תברא רבא אתברת מלכות כנשתא דעמי מחא ממרעא לחדא:
lkhda mmrea mkha demy knshtha mlkwth athbrth rba thbra ary yshthqn wla wymm lyly dmen eyny yshgrn hdyn pthgma yth lhwn wthymr
“You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.

אם נפקית לחקלא והא קטילי חרבא ואם עלית לקרתא והא ממרעי כפנא ארי אף ספר אף כהן אתפניאו לסחורתהון על די מה בארעא ולא בקרו:
bqrw wla barea mh dy el lskhwrthhwn athpnyaw khn ap spr ap ary kpna mmrey wha lqrtha elyth wam khrba qTyly wha lkhqla npqyth am
If I go out into the field, then behold, the slain with the sword! If I enter into the city, then behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.’”

המרטש רטשתא ית דבית יהודה ואם יתבי ציון רחיק מימרך מה דין אלקיתנא ולית לנא אסא סברנא לשלם ולית טב ולעדן סליחת חובין והא פורענות חטאין:
khTayn pwrenwth wha khwbyn slykhth wledn Tb wlyth lshlm sbrna asa lna wlyth alqythna dyn mh mymrk rkhyq tsywn ythby wam yhwdh dbyth yth rTshtha hmrTsh
Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
20
ידענא יי חובנא וחובי אבהתנא ארי חבנא קדמך:
qdmk khbna ary abhthna wkhwby khwbna yy ydena
We acknowledge, Yahweh, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against you.
21
לא תרחקיננא בדיל שמך לא תנבל אתר בית כורסי יקרך ייעול דוכרן קים אבהתנא קדמך לא תשני קימך עמנא:
emna qymk thshny la qdmk abhthna qym dwkrn yyewl yqrk kwrsy byth athr thnbl la shmk bdyl thrkhqynna la
Do not abhor us, for your name’s sake. Do not disgrace the throne of your glory. Remember, and don’t break your covenant with us.

הא לית צרוך בטעות פלחי כוכביא לאחתא מטרא ואם שמיא לא יתנון רסיסין אלהין על מימרך הלא את הוא יי אלהנא ונסבר קדמך ארי את עבדת ית כל אילין:
aylyn kl yth ebdth ath ary qdmk wnsbr alhna yy hwa ath hla mymrk el alhyn rsysyn ythnwn la shmya wam mTra lakhtha kwkbya plkhy bTewth tsrwk lyth ha
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, Yahweh our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
