כדנן אמר יי לי אזיל ותזבון לך זרז דכתן ותשויניה על חרצך ובמיא לא תעליניה:
thelynyh la wbmya khrtsk el wthshwynyh dkthn zrz lk wthzbwn azyl ly yy amr kdnn
Yahweh said to me, “Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.”

וזביניה ית זרזא כפתגמא דיי ושויתיה על חרצי:
khrtsy el wshwythyh dyy kpthgma zrza yth wzbynyh
So I bought a belt according to Yahweh’s word, and put it on my waist.

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי תנינות למימר:
lmymr thnynwth emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Yahweh’s word came to me the second time, saying,

סב ית זרזא די זבינתא די על חרצך וקום אזיל לפרת וטמרהי תמן בשעיעות כיף גלי:
gly kyp bsheyewth thmn wTmrhy lprth azyl wqwm khrtsk el dy zbyntha dy zrza yth sb
“Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”

ואזלת וטמרתיה בפרת כמה די פקיד יי יתי:
ythy yy pqyd dy kmh bprth wTmrthyh wazlth
So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.

והוה מסוף יומין סגיאין ואמר יי לי קום אזיל לפרת וסב מתמן ית זרזא די פקדתך למטמריה תמן:
thmn lmTmryh pqdthk dy zrza yth mthmn wsb lprth azyl qwm ly yy wamr sgyayn ywmyn mswp whwh
After many days, Yahweh said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.”

ואזלית לפרת וחפרית ונסיבית ית זרזא מן אתרא דטמרתיה תמן והא אתחביל זרזא לית ביה צרוך לכל מדעם:
mdem lkl tsrwk byh lyth zrza athkhbyl wha thmn dTmrthyh athra mn zrza yth wnsybyth wkhpryth lprth wazlyth
Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was ruined. It was profitable for nothing.

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Then Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

כדנן אמר יי כדין אחביל ית תקוף אנש יהודה וית תקוף יתבי ירושלם דהוה סגי:
sgy dhwh yrwshlm ythby thqwp wyth yhwdh ansh thqwp yth akhbyl kdyn yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh says, ‘In this way I will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

עמא הדין דעובדיהון בישין דסריבו לקבלא ית פתגמא דאזלין בתר הרהור לבהון וטעו בתר טעות פלחי כוכביא למפלחהון ולמסגיד להון ויהון כזרזא הדין דלית בהון צרוך לכל מדעם:
mdem lkl tsrwk bhwn dlyth hdyn kzrza wyhwn lhwn wlmsgyd lmplkhhwn kwkbya plkhy Tewth bthr wTew lbhwn hrhwr bthr dazlyn pthgma yth lqbla dsrybw byshyn dewbdyhwn hdyn ema
This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them and to worship them, will even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.

ארי כמא דמדבק זרזא בחרצא דגברא כן קרבית לפולחני ית כל בית ישראל וית כל בית יהודה אמר יי למהוי קדמי לעם ולשום ולחושבחא ולרבו ולא קבילו:
qbylw wla wlrbw wlkhwshbkha wlshwm lem qdmy lmhwy yy amr yhwdh byth kl wyth yshral byth kl yth lpwlkhny qrbyth kn dgbra bkhrtsa zrza dmdbq kma ary
For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh; ‘that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

ותימר להון ית פתגמא הדין כדנן אמר יי אלהא דישראל כל גרב יתמלי חמר ויימרון לך המידע לא הוינא ידעין ארי כל גרב יתמלי חמר:
khmr ythmly grb kl ary ydeyn hwyna la hmyde lk wyymrwn khmr ythmly grb kl dyshral alha yy amr kdnn hdyn pthgma yth lhwn wthymr
“Therefore you shall speak to them this word: ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “Every container should be filled with wine.”’ They will tell you, ‘Do we not certainly know that every container should be filled with wine?’

ותימר להון כדנן אמר יי הא אנא ממלי ית כל יתבי ארעא הדא וית מלכא דיתבין לדוד על כורסוהי וית כהניא וית נבייא דשקאא וית כל יתבי ירושלם עקא ויהון דמן לרויא:
lrwya dmn wyhwn eqa yrwshlm ythby kl wyth dshqaa nbyya wyth khnya wyth kwrswhy el ldwd dythbyn mlka wyth hda area ythby kl yth mmly ana ha yy amr kdnn lhwn wthymr
Then tell them, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

ואגרינון גבר באחוהי ואבהן ובנין כחדא אמר יי לא אחמול ולא איחוס ולא ארחם מלחבלותהון:
mlkhblwthhwn arkhm wla aykhws wla akhmwl la yy amr kkhda wbnyn wabhn bakhwhy gbr wagrynwn
I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,” says Yahweh: “I will not pity, spare, or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.”’”

קבילו ואציתו לא תתרברבון ארי במימרא דיי גזיר כן:
kn gzyr dyy bmymra ary ththrbrbwn la watsythw qbylw
Hear, and give ear. Don’t be proud, for Yahweh has spoken.

הבו קדם יי אלהכון יקרא עד לא תיתי עליכון עקא ותהון דמין לדמהלכין כדבקבלא ועד לא יתנגפון רגליכון על טורי קבל ותסברון לנהור ויהי עליכון חשוך לזיהור והא כדבקבלא תהון מהלכין אתון:
athwn mhlkyn thhwn kdbqbla wha lzyhwr khshwk elykwn wyhy lnhwr wthsbrwn qbl Twry el rglykwn ythngpwn la wed kdbqbla ldmhlkyn dmyn wthhwn eqa elykwn thythy la ed yqra alhkwn yy qdm hbw
Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it deep darkness.
17
ואם לא תקבלון אולפן כד בסתרא תבכי נפשי מן קדם דידעי מנכון יקרכון ומדמע תדמע ותשגר עיני דמעין ארי אשתבי עמא דיי:
dyy ema ashthby ary dmeyn eyny wthshgr thdme wmdme yqrkwn mnkwn dydey qdm mn npshy thbky bsthra kd awlpn thqblwn la wam
But if you will not hear it, my soul will weep in secret for your pride. My eye will weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh’s flock has been taken captive.

אמר למלכא ולמלכותא אמאיכו תבו ארי גלא יקרכון מנכון נפל כליל תושבתכון:
thwshbthkwn klyl npl mnkwn yqrkwn gla ary thbw amaykw wlmlkwtha lmlka amr
Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Humble yourselves. Sit down, for your crowns have come down, even the crown of your glory.

קרוי דרומא אתאחידו ולית דפתח גלו דבית יהודה כולהון גלו שלימא אתקבלו תושלימת עובדיכון:
ewbdykwn thwshlymth athqblw shlyma glw kwlhwn yhwdh dbyth glw dpthkh wlyth athakhydw drwma qrwy
The cities of the South are shut up, and there is no one to open them. Judah is carried away captive: all of them. They are wholly carried away captive.
20
זקיפו עיניכון וחזו דאתן מצפונא אן עמא דאתמסר ליך עם תושבחתיך:
thwshbkhthyk em lyk dathmsr ema an mtspwna dathn wkhzw eynykwn zqypw
Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?

מה תימרון ארי יסער עלך חובך ואת אליפת יתהון למעבד בישין עלך הוו רברבין כדמן אולא הלא עקא וחבלין ייחדונך הא כחבלין לילידתא:
lylydtha kkhblyn ha yykhdwnk wkhblyn eqa hla awla kdmn rbrbyn hww elk byshyn lmebd ythhwn alypth wath khwbk elk yser ary thymrwn mh
What will you say when he sets over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? Won’t sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?

וארי תימרין בלביך מא דין ערעוני כל אלין על דסגיאו חובך אתגליאת בהתתיך אתחזי קלניך:
qlnyk athkhzy bhththyk athglyath khwbk dsgyaw el alyn kl erewny dyn ma blbyk thymryn wary
If you say in your heart, “Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.

האפשר דישני הנדואה משכיה ונמרא שלטי רקמתיה אף אתון תיכלון לאוטבא דהויתון מלפין למעבד בישין:
byshyn lmebd mlpyn dhwythwn lawTba thyklwn athwn ap rqmthyh shlTy wnmra mshkyh hndwah dyshny hapshr
Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

ואבדרינון כקשא דעדי מן קדם רוחא למדברא:
lmdbra rwkha qdm mn dedy kqsha wabdrynwn
“Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.
25
דין עדביך וחולק אחסנתיך מן קדמי אמר יי דשבקת פולחני ואתרחיצת על שקרא:
shqra el wathrkhytsth pwlkhny dshbqth yy amr qdmy mn akhsnthyk wkhwlq edbyk dyn
This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me,” says Yahweh, “because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.”
26
ואף אנא אגלי בהתת חובך על אפך ויתחזי קלניך:
qlnyk wythkhzy apk el khwbk bhthth agly ana wap
Therefore I will also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame will appear.
27
טפשותיך ושטותיך ועצת חטאי ינקותיך על רמתא בחקלא גלי קדמי שקוציך וי ליך ירושלם לא תדכין עד כען ליך ארכא יומין סגיאין:
sgyayn ywmyn arka lyk ken ed thdkyn la yrwshlm lyk wy shqwtsyk qdmy gly bkhqla rmtha el ynqwthyk khTay wetsth wshTwthyk Tpshwthyk
I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean. How long will it yet be?”
