ܝܥܩܘܒ ܥܒܕܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܕܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܠܬܪܬܥܣܪܐ ܫܪܒܢ ܕܙܪܝܥܢ ܒܥܡܡܐ ܫܠܡ

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.

ܟܠ ܚܕܘܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܟܕ ܬܥܠܘܢ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܡܫܚܠܦܐ ܘܣܓܝܐܐ
kl khdw' thhw' lkwn 'khy kd thelwn lnsywn' mshkhlp' wsgy''
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,

ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܒܘܩܝܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܩܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ
ydeyn 'nthwn gyr dbwqy' dhymnwth' mqn' lkwn msybrnwth'
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܠܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܐ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܓܡܝܪܝܢ ܘܡܫܠܡܢܝܢ ܘܒܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܚܣܝܪܝܢ
lh dyn lmsybrnwth' nhw' lh ebd' mshmly' dthhwwn gmyryn wmshlmnyn wbmdm l' hwythwn khsyryn
Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܚܣܝܪ ܡܢ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܢܫܐܠ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܟܠ ܦܫܝܛܐܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܡܚܣܕ ܘܡܬܝܗܒܐ ܠܗ
'n 'nsh dyn mnkwn khsyr mn khkmth' nsh'l mn 'lh' dyhb lkl pshyT'yth wl' mkhsd wmthyhb' lh
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

ܢܫܐܠ ܕܝܢ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܡܬܦܠܓ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܬܦܠܓ ܕܡܐ ܠܓܠܠܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܕܫܓܫܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܪܘܚܐ
nsh'l dyn bhymnwth' kd l' mthplg hw gyr dmthplg dm' lgll' dym' dshgsh' lhwn rwkh'
But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

ܘܠܐ ܢܣܒܪ ܗܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܣܒ ܡܕܡ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

ܐܝܢܐ ܕܦܠܝܓ ܒܪܥܝܢܗ ܘܫܓܝܫ ܒܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܘܪܚܬܗ
'yn' dplyg breynh wshgysh bklhyn 'wrkhthh
He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

ܢܫܬܒܗܪ ܕܝܢ ܐܚܐ ܡܟܝܟܐ ܒܪܘܡܪܡܗ
nshthbhr dyn 'kh' mkyk' brwmrmh
But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

ܘܥܬܝܪܐ ܒܡܘܟܟܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܒܒܐ ܕܥܣܒܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܪ
wethyr' bmwkkh mTl d'yk hbb' desb' hkn' ebr
and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

ܕܢܚ ܓܝܪ ܫܡܫܐ ܒܚܘܡܗ ܘܡܘܒܫ ܠܗ ܠܥܣܒܐ ܘܗܒܒܗ ܢܦܠ ܘܫܘܦܪܐ ܕܚܙܘܗ ܐܒܕ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܚܡܐ ܒܗܘܦܟܘܗܝ

For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits.

ܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܡܣܝܒܪ ܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܒܚܪ ܢܣܒ ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܠܟ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܠܗ
Twbwhy lgbr' dmsybr nsywn' dm' d'thbkhr nsb klyl' dkhy' hw dmlk 'lh' l'ylyn drkhmyn lh
Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

ܠܐ ܢܐܡܪ ܐܢܫ ܟܕ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܡܢܣܝ ܒܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܗܘ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܡܢܣܐ
l' n'mr 'nsh kd mthns' dmn 'lh' mthns' 'n' 'lh' gyr l' mnsy bbyshth' whw l'nsh l' mns'
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

ܐܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܪܓܬܗ ܗܘ ܡܬܢܣܐ ܘܡܬܪܓܪܓ ܘܡܬܢܓܕ
'l' 'nsh 'nsh mn rgthh hw mthns' wmthrgrg wmthngd
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.

ܘܗܕܐ ܪܓܬܐ ܒܛܢܐ ܘܝܠܕܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܐ ܕܐܬܓܡܪܬ ܝܠܕܐ ܡܘܬܐ
whd' rgth' bTn' wyld' khTyth' khTyth' dyn m' d'thgmrth yld' mwth'
Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

ܟܠ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܡܫܡܠܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܢܚܬܐ ܡܢ ܐܒܐ ܕܢܗܝܪܐ ܗܘ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܡܕܡ ܐܦܠܐ ܛܠܢܝܬܐ ܕܫܘܓܢܝܐ
kl mwhbth' Tbth' wmshmlyth' mn lel nkhth' mn 'b' dnhyr' hw dlyth lwthh shwkhlp' mdm 'pl' Tlnyth' dshwgny'
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.

ܗܘܝܘ ܨܒܐ ܘܝܠܕܢ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܪܫܝܬܐ ܕܒܪܝܬܗ
hwyw tsb' wyldn bmlth' dqwshth' dnhw' rshyth' dbrythh
Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܟܠܢܫ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܣܪܗܒ ܠܡܫܡܥ ܘܡܘܚܪ ܠܡܡܠܠܘ ܘܡܘܚܪ ܠܡܪܓܙ
w'nthwn 'khy khbyb' klnsh mnkwn nhw' msrhb lmshme wmwkhr lmmllw wmwkhr lmrgz
So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

ܪܘܓܙܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ
rwgzh gyr dgbr' zdyqwth' d'lh' l' ebd
for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܪܚܩܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܛܢܦܘܬܐ ܘܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܒܝܫܘܬܐ ܘܒܡܟܝܟܘܬܐ ܩܒܠܘ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܢܨܝܒܐ ܒܟܝܢܢ ܕܗܝ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܕܬܚܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ
mTl hn' 'rkhqw mnkwn klh Tnpwth' wswg'' dbyshwth' wbmkykwth' qblw mlth' dntsyb' bkynn dhy mshkkh' dthkh' 'nyn npshthkwn
Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܘܕܐ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܘܥܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܥܘܢ ܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ
hww dyn ebwd' dmlth' wl' shmwe' blkhwd wl' thTewn npshthkwn
But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܡܘܥܗ ܕܡܠܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܘܕܗ ܗܢܐ ܕܡܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܚܙܐ ܐܦܘܗܝ ܒܡܚܙܝܬܐ
'n 'nsh gyr nhw' shmweh dmlth' wl' ebwdh hn' dm' lhw dkhz' 'pwhy bmkhzyth'
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

ܚܙܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܦܫܗ ܘܥܒܪ ܘܛܥܐ ܕܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ
khz' gyr npshh webr wTe' d'ykn' hw'
for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

ܟܠ ܕܝܢ ܕܚܪ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܫܠܡܢܐ ܕܚܐܪܘܬܐ ܘܩܘܝ ܒܗ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܡܘܥܐ ܕܫܡܥܐ ܕܡܬܛܥܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܒܘܕܐ ܕܥܒܕܐ ܘܗܢܐ ܛܘܒܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܥܒܕܗ
kl dyn dkhr bnmws' mshlmn' dkh'rwth' wqwy bh l' hw' shmwe' dshme' dmthTe' 'l' ebwd' debd' whn' Twbn' nhw' bebdh
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܣܒܪ ܕܡܫܡܫ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܚܕ ܠܫܢܗ ܐܠܐ ܡܛܥܐ ܠܗ ܠܒܗ ܕܗܢܐ ܣܪܝܩܐ ܗܝ ܬܫܡܫܬܗ
w'n 'nsh sbr dmshmsh l'lh' wl' 'khd lshnh 'l' mTe' lh lbh dhn' sryq' hy thshmshthh
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

ܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܟܝܬܐ ܘܩܕܝܫܬܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܐ ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܠܡܣܥܪ ܝܬܡܐ ܘܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܒܐܘܠܨܢܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܡܛܪ ܐܢܫ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܛܘܠܫܐ
thshmshth' gyr dkyth' wqdyshth' qdm 'lh' 'b' hd' hy lmser ythm' w'rmlth' b'wltsnyhwn wlmTr 'nsh npshh mn elm' dl' Twlsh'
Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
