והוה ביומי אחז בר יותם בר עזיה מלך שבטא דבית יהודה סליק רצין מלכא דארם ופקח בר רמליהו דישראל לירושלם לאגחא קרבא עלה ולא יכיל לאגחא עלה:
elh lagkha ykyl wla elh qrba lagkha lyrwshlm dyshral rmlyhw br wpqkh darm mlka rtsyn slyq yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk ezyh br ywthm br akhz bywmy whwh
In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

ואתחוא לבית דוד למימר אתחבר מלכא דארם עם מלכא דישראל למיתי עלוהי וזע לביה ולבא דעמיה כאשתדיות אילני חורשא מן קדם רוחא:
rwkha qdm mn khwrsha aylny kashthdywth demyh wlba lbyh wze elwhy lmythy dyshral mlka em darm mlka athkhbr lmymr dwd lbyth wathkhwa
David’s house was told, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

ואמר יי לישעיה פוק כען לקדמות אחז את ושאר תלמידך דלא חטו ודתבו מחטאה לסיפי מזיקת בריכתא עליתא די בכבש חקל משטח קציריא:
qtsyrya mshTkh khql bkbsh dy elytha bryktha mzyqth lsypy mkhTah wdthbw khTw dla thlmydk wshar ath akhz lqdmwth ken pwq lysheyh yy wamr
Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.

ותימר ליה אסתמר ונוח לא תדחל ולבך לא יזוע מן קדם תרין רברביא דאינון כאודיא מתנניא האלין בתקוף רגז רצין וארם ובר רמליהו:
rmlyhw wbr warm rtsyn rgz bthqwp halyn mthnnya kawdya daynwn rbrbya thryn qdm mn yzwe la wlbk thdkhl la wnwkh asthmr lyh wthymr
Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

חלף ארי מלך עלך ארם בישא אפרים ובר רמליהו למימר:
lmymr rmlyhw wbr aprym bysha arm elk mlk ary khlp
Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,

נסק בארעא דבית יהודה ונחברינון ונשוינון עמנא ונמליך מלכא בגוה ית מן דכשר לנא:
lna dkshr mn yth bgwh mlka wnmlyk emna wnshwynwn wnkhbrynwn yhwdh dbyth barea nsq
“Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king within it, even the son of Tabeel.”

כדנן אמר יי אלהים לא תקום ולא תהוי:
thhwy wla thqwm la alhym yy amr kdnn
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

ארי ריש ארם דמשק וריש דמשק רצין ובסוף שתין וחמש שנין יבטלון בית ישראל ממלכו:
mmlkw yshral byth ybTlwn shnyn wkhmsh shthyn wbswp rtsyn dmshq wrysh dmshq arm rysh ary
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people.

וריש אפרים שמרון וריש שמרון בר רמליה אם לא תהימנון במלי נביא ארי לא תתקימון:
ththqymwn la ary nbya bmly thhymnwn la am rmlyh br shmrwn wrysh shmrwn aprym wrysh
The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’”

ואוסיף נביא דיי למללא עם אחז למימר:
lmymr akhz em lmlla dyy nbya wawsyp
Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying,

שאל לך אתא מן קדם יי אלהך שאל די יתעביד לך נס על ארעא או תתחזי לך את בשמיא:
bshmya ath lk ththkhzy aw area el ns lk ythebyd dy shal alhk yy qdm mn atha lk shal
“Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”

ואמר אחז לא אשאל ולא אנסי קדם יי:
yy qdm ansy wla ashal la akhz wamr
But Ahaz said, “I won’t ask. I won’t tempt Yahweh.”

ואמר שמעו כען בית דוד הזער לכון דאתון מהלן ית נבייא ארי תהלון אף ית פתגמי אלהי:
alhy pthgmy yth ap thhlwn ary nbyya yth mhln dathwn lkwn hzer dwd byth ken shmew wamr
He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?

בכן יתן יי הוא לכון אתא הא עולמתא מעדיא ותליד בר ותקרי שמיה עמנואל:
emnwal shmyh wthqry br wthlyd medya ewlmtha ha atha lkwn hwa yy ythn bkn
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

שמן ודבש יכול עד לא ידע עולימא לרחקא בישא ולקרבא טבא:
Tba wlqrba bysha lrkhqa ewlyma yde la ed ykwl wdbsh shmn
He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good.
16
ארי עד לא ידע עולימא לרחקא בישא ולקרבא טבא תתרטיש ארעא די את מעיק מן קדם תרין מלכהא:
mlkha thryn qdm mn meyq ath dy area ththrTysh Tba wlqrba bysha lrkhqa ewlyma yde la ed ary
For before the child knows to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.

ייתי יי עלך ועל עמך ועל בית אבוך יומין דלא אתו למיומא דאתפליגו בית ישראל על דבית יהודה ית מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka yth yhwdh dbyth el yshral byth dathplygw lmywma athw dla ywmyn abwk byth wel emk wel elk yy yythy
Yahweh will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah, even the king of Assyria.

ויהי בעדנא ההיא יכלי יי לעם קטרי משרית גבריא דסגיאין כדבוביא וייתינון מסיפי ארעא דמצרים ולעזיזי משריתא דאינון תקיפין כדבריתא וייתינון מסיפי ארעא דאתור:
dathwr area msypy wyythynwn kdbrytha thqypyn daynwn mshrytha wlezyzy dmtsrym area msypy wyythynwn kdbwbya dsgyayn gbrya mshryth qTry lem yy ykly hhya bedna wyhy
It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

וייתון וישרון כולהון ברחובי קרויא ובשקיפי כיפיא ובכל מדברי נעצוציא ובכל בתי תושבחתא:
thwshbkhtha bthy wbkl netswtsya mdbry wbkl kypya wbshqypy qrwya brkhwby kwlhwn wyshrwn wyythwn
They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures.

בעדנא ההיא יקטול יי בהון כמא דמתקטיל בחרבא חריפא בסבכיא ובמגריא בעברי נהרא במלכא דאתור וית מלכא וית משריתיה ואף ית שלטוני כחדא ישיצי:
yshytsy kkhda shlTwny yth wap mshrythyh wyth mlka wyth dathwr bmlka nhra bebry wbmgrya bsbkya khrypa bkhrba dmthqTyl kma bhwn yy yqTwl hhya bedna
In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.
21
ויהי בעדנא ההיא יקים גבר עגלת תורין ותרין ען:
en wthryn thwryn eglth gbr yqym hhya bedna wyhy
It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep.
22
ויהי מסגי טוב משח יכול שמן ארי שמן ודבש יתפרנסון כל צדיקיא דאשתארון בגו ארעא:
area bgw dashtharwn tsdyqya kl ythprnswn wdbsh shmn ary shmn ykwl mshkh Twb msgy wyhy
It shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter, for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left within the land.
23
ויהי בעדנא ההיא יהי כל אתר דיהון תמן אלף גופנין שוין באלף מנין כסף להובאי ובור יהי:
yhy wbwr lhwbay ksp mnyn balp shwyn gwpnyn alp thmn dyhwn athr kl yhy hhya bedna wyhy
It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, will be for briers and thorns.

בגירין ובקשתן יהכון לתמן הרי הובאי ובור תהי כל ארעא:
area kl thhy wbwr hwbay hry lthmn yhkwn wbqshthn bgyryn
People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns.
25
וכל טוריא דבית יהודה די במעדר יתפלחון לא תיעול לתמן דחלת הובאי ובור ויהי לבית ארבעה בקרן דתורין ולבית משרי עדרין דען:
den edryn mshry wlbyth dthwryn bqrn arbeh lbyth wyhy wbwr hwbay dkhlth lthmn thyewl la ythplkhwn bmedr dy yhwdh dbyth Twrya wkl
All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending out of oxen, and for sheep to tread on.”
