נבייא אתנביאו תנחומין על עמי אמר אלהכון:
alhkwn amr emy el thnkhwmyn athnbyaw nbyya
“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.

מלילו על לבא דירושלם ואתנבו עלה ארי עתידא דתתמלי מעם גלותהא ארי אישתביקו לה חובהא ארי קבילת כס תנחומין מן קדם יי כאלו לקת על חד תרין בכל חטאתהא:
khTathha bkl thryn khd el lqth kalw yy qdm mn thnkhwmyn ks qbylth ary khwbha lh ayshthbyqw ary glwthha mem dththmly ethyda ary elh wathnbw dyrwshlm lba el mlylw
“Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of Yahweh’s hand double for all her sins.”

קל דמכלי במדברא פנו אורח מן קדם עמא דיי כבישא במישרא כבשין קדם כנשתא דאלהנא:
dalhna knshtha qdm kbshyn bmyshra kbysha dyy ema qdm mn awrkh pnw bmdbra dmkly ql
The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of Yahweh in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.

כל חיליא יראמון וכל טור ורמא ימאכון ויהי כפלא למישרא ובית גדודין לבקעה:
lbqeh gdwdyn wbyth lmyshra kpla wyhy ymakwn wrma Twr wkl yramwn khylya kl
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.

ויתגלי יקרא דיי ויחזון כל בני בשרא כחדא ארי במימרא דיי גזר כן:
kn gzr dyy bmymra ary kkhda bshra bny kl wykhzwn dyy yqra wythgly
Yahweh’s glory shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.”

קל דאמר אתנבי ומתיב ואמר מה אתנבי כל רשיעיא כעשבא וכל תוקפהון כמוצא דחקלא:
dkhqla kmwtsa thwqphwn wkl keshba rshyeya kl athnby mh wamr wmthyb athnby damr ql
The voice of one saying, “Cry out!” One said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.

יבש עשבא נתר נציה ארי רוחא מן קדם יי נשבת ביה בכן כעשבא חשיבין רשיעיא בעמא:
bema rshyeya khshybyn keshba bkn byh nshbth yy qdm mn rwkha ary ntsyh nthr eshba ybsh
The grass withers, the flower fades, because Yahweh’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.

מית רשיעיא אבדו עשתונוהי ופתגמא דאלהנא קים לעלמין:
lelmyn qym dalhna wpthgma eshthwnwhy abdw rshyeya myth
The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever.”

על טור רם סקו לכון נבייא די מבשרין לציון ארימו בחילא קלכון די מבשרין לירושלם ארימו לא תדחלון אמרו לקרויא דבית יהודה אתגליאת מלכותא דאלהכון:
dalhkwn mlkwtha athglyath yhwdh dbyth lqrwya amrw thdkhlwn la arymw lyrwshlm mbshryn dy qlkwn bkhyla arymw ltsywn mbshryn dy nbyya lkwn sqw rm Twr el
You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength! Lift it up! Don’t be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold, your God!”

הא יי אלהים בתקוף מתגלי ותקוף דרע גבורתה שלטא קדמוהי הא אגר עבדי מימרה עמה דכל עובדיהון גלן קדמוהי:
qdmwhy gln ewbdyhwn dkl emh mymrh ebdy agr ha qdmwhy shlTa gbwrthh dre wthqwp mthgly bthqwp alhym yy ha
Behold, the Lord Yahweh will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

כרעיא דעדרה רעי בדרעה מכנש אמרין ובחינה מסובר רכיכין מיניקתא בניח מדבר:
mdbr bnykh mynyqtha rkykyn mswbr wbkhynh amryn mknsh bdreh rey dedrh kreya
He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.

מן אמר אלין קים אמר ועבד דכל מי עלמא חשיבין קדמוהי כטפא בשעולא ומשחת שמיא כאלו בזירתא מתקנין ועפרא דארעא כאלו במכילא אתכל וטוריא כאלו מתקל תקילין ורמתא כד במוזניא:
bmwznya kd wrmtha thqylyn mthql kalw wTwrya athkl bmkyla kalw darea wepra mthqnyn bzyrtha kalw shmya wmshkhth bshewla kTpa qdmwhy khshybyn elma my dkl webd amr qym alyn amr mn
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measuring basket, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

מן תקין ית רוח קודשא בפום כל נבייא הלא יי וצדיקיא עבדי מימרה פתגמי רעותה הודעינון:
hwdeynwn rewthh pthgmy mymrh ebdy wtsdyqya yy hla nbyya kl bpwm qwdsha rwkh yth thqyn mn
Who has directed Yahweh’s Spirit, or has taught him as his counselor?

להון דבעון מן קדמוהי אסבר חוכמא ואלפינון אורח דדין ויהב לבניהון אוריתא ואורח דסוכלתנו לבני בניהון הודעינון:
hwdeynwn bnyhwn lbny dswklthnw wawrkh awrytha lbnyhwn wyhb ddyn awrkh walpynwn khwkma asbr qdmwhy mn dbewn lhwn
Who did he take counsel with, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?

הא עממיא כטפא מדול וכעיול מוזניא חשיבין הא נגותא כדוקא דפרח:
dprkh kdwqa ngwtha ha khshybyn mwznya wkeywl mdwl kTpa emmya ha
Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on a balance. Behold, he lifts up the islands like a very little thing.

ואילני לבנן לא יספקון לאדלקא וחיותא דבה לית היא כמיסת לעלתא:
leltha kmysth hya lyth dbh wkhywtha ladlqa yspqwn la lbnn waylny
Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering.

כל עממיא כלמא עובדיהון גמירא ושיצאה אינון חשיבין קדמוהי:
qdmwhy khshybyn aynwn wshytsah gmyra ewbdyhwn klma emmya kl
All the nations are like nothing before him. They are regarded by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
18
ולמן אתון מדמין קדם אל ומה דמות אתון מסדרין קדמוהי:
qdmwhy msdryn athwn dmwth wmh al qdm mdmyn athwn wlmn
To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to him?
19
הא צלמא נגרא עביד וקינאה בדהב מחפי ליה ושלשלן דכסף קינאה מאחיד ליה:
lyh makhyd qynah dksp wshlshln lyh mkhpy bdhb wqynah ebyd ngra tslma ha
A workman has cast an image, and the goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts silver chains for it.

אורן ברי אעא דלא אחיד ביה רקבא בחר נגר אומן בעי ליה לאתקנא צלם דלא יצטלי:
ytsTly dla tslm lathqna lyh bey awmn ngr bkhr rqba byh akhyd dla aea bry awrn
He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up a carved image for him that will not be moved.

הלא ידעתון הלא שמעתון הלא איתחואה מן אולא עובד סדרי בראשית לכון הלא תסתכלון למדחל קדם מן דברא יסודי ארעא:
area yswdy dbra mn qdm lmdkhl thsthklwn hla lkwn brashyth sdry ewbd awla mn aythkhwah hla shmethwn hla ydethwn hla
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? Haven’t you been told from the beginning? Haven’t you understood from the foundations of the earth?

דאשרי בתקוף רומא שכינת יקרה וכל יתבי ארעא חשיבין קדמוהי כקמצין דמתח כזעיר שמיא ופרסינון כמשכן יקרא לבית שכינתא:
shkyntha lbyth yqra kmshkn wprsynwn shmya kzeyr dmthkh kqmtsyn qdmwhy khshybyn area ythby wkl yqrh shkynth rwma bthqwp dashry
It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in,

דמסר שלטונין לחולשא דיני ארעא כלמא עביד:
ebyd klma area dyny lkhwlsha shlTwnyn dmsr
who brings princes to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
24
אפילו יפשון אפילו יסגון אפילו יתרבון בארעא בניהון ואף רוגזה ישלח בהון ויבהתון ומימרה כעלעילא לקשא ידבר יתהון:
ythhwn ydbr lqsha keleyla wmymrh wybhthwn bhwn yshlkh rwgzh wap bnyhwn barea ythrbwn apylw ysgwn apylw ypshwn apylw
They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
25
ולמן תדמון קדמי ותשוון יימר קדישא:
qdysha yymr wthshwwn qdmy thdmwn wlmn
“To whom then will you liken me? Who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26
זקופו לרומא עיניכון וחזו למדחל קדם מן דברא אלין דאפיק במנין חילי שמיא לכולהון בשמהן קרי מסגי גבורן ותקוף חיל חד מסדרה לא מתעכב:
mthekb la msdrh khd khyl wthqwp gbwrn msgy qry bshmhn lkwlhwn shmya khyly bmnyn dapyq alyn dbra mn qdm lmdkhl wkhzw eynykwn lrwma zqwpw
Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. By the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
27
למה תימר יעקב ותמליל ישראל מטמרא אורחי מן קדם יי ומן קדם אלהי דיני יעדי:
yedy dyny alhy qdm wmn yy qdm mn awrkhy mTmra yshral wthmlyl yeqb thymr lmh
Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, “My way is hidden from Yahweh, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God”?

הלא ידעתא אם לא שמעתא אלהא עלמא יי די ברא יסודי ארעא לא בעמל ולא בליאו לית סוף לסוכלתנותיה:
lswklthnwthyh swp lyth blyaw wla beml la area yswdy bra dy yy elma alha shmetha la am ydetha hla
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, Yahweh, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
29
דיהב לצדיקיא דמשלהן לפתגמי אוריתא חוכמא ודלית להון תקוף נכסין מסגי:
msgy nksyn thqwp lhwn wdlyth khwkma awrytha lpthgmy dmshlhn ltsdyqya dyhb
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
30
וישתלהון עולימין חיבין וילאון ורוקי רשיעיא איתקלא יתקלון:
ythqlwn aythqla rshyeya wrwqy wylawn khybyn ewlymyn wyshthlhwn
Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
31
ודסברו לפורקנא דיי יתכנשון מביני גלותהון ויוספון חיל ויתחדתון לעולימתהון כצימוח דסליק על גדפי נשרין ירהטון ולא ילאון יהכון ולא ולא ישתלהון:
yshthlhwn wla wla yhkwn ylawn wla yrhTwn nshryn gdpy el dslyq ktsymwkh lewlymthhwn wythkhdthwn khyl wywspwn glwthhwn mbyny ythknshwn dyy lpwrqna wdsbrw
but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
