והוה כד שמע מלכא חזקיהו בזע ית לבושוהי ואתכסי בסקא ועל לבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha lbyth wel bsqa wathksy lbwshwhy yth bze khzqyhw mlka shme kd whwh
When King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.

ושלח ית אליקים די ממנא על ביתא וית שבנא ספרא וית סבי כהניא כד מכסן סקיא לות ישעיהו בר אמוץ נביא:
nbya amwts br ysheyhw lwth sqya mksn kd khnya sby wyth spra shbna wyth bytha el mmna dy alyqym yth wshlkh
He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

ואמרו ליה כדנן אמר חזקיה יום עקא וחיסודין וניאוצא יומא הדין ארי אקיפתנא עקא כאתא דיתבא על מתברא וחיל לית לה למילד:
lmyld lh lyth wkhyl mthbra el dythba katha eqa aqypthna ary hdyn ywma wnyawtsa wkhyswdyn eqa ywm khzqyh amr kdnn lyh wamrw
They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to give birth.

מאים שמיע קדם יי אלהך ית פתגמי רבשקה דשלחה מלכא דאתור רבונה לחסדא עמא דיי קימא ויעביד פורענותא על כל פתגמיא דשמעין קדם אלהך ותתחנן בצלו על שארא דאשתאר:
dashthar shara el btslw wththkhnn alhk qdm dshmeyn pthgmya kl el pwrenwtha wyebyd qyma dyy ema lkhsda rbwnh dathwr mlka dshlkhh rbshqh pthgmy yth alhk yy qdm shmye maym
It may be Yahweh your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

ואתו עבדי מלכא חזקיה לות ישעיה:
ysheyh lwth khzqyh mlka ebdy wathw
So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

ואמר להון ישעיה כדין תימרון לריבונכון כדנן אמר יי לא תדחל מן קדם פתגמיא די שמעתא דחסדו עולימי מלכא דאתור קדמי:
qdmy dathwr mlka ewlymy dkhsdw shmetha dy pthgmya qdm mn thdkhl la yy amr kdnn lrybwnkwn thymrwn kdyn ysheyh lhwn wamr
Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master, ‘Yahweh says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

הא אנא יהיב ביה רוחא וישמע בשורא ויתוב לארעה ואפלינה בחרבא בארעה:
bareh bkhrba waplynh lareh wythwb bshwra wyshme rwkha byh yhyb ana ha
Behold, I will put a spirit in him and he will hear news, and will return to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

ותב רבשקה ואשכח ית מלכא דאתור מגיח קרבא על לבנה ארי שמע ארי נטל מלכיש:
mlkysh nTl ary shme ary lbnh el qrba mgykh dathwr mlka yth washkkh rbshqh wthb
So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he heard that he had departed from Lachish.

ושמע על תרהקה מלכא דכוש למימר נפק לאגחא קרבא עמך ושמע ושלח אזגדין לות חזקיה למימר:
lmymr khzqyh lwth azgdyn wshlkh wshme emk qrba lagkha npq lmymr dkwsh mlka thrhqh el wshme
He heard news concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to fight against you.” When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

כדין תימרון לחזקיהו מלך שבטא דבית יהודה למימר לא יטעינך אלהך די את רחיץ ביה למימר לא תתמסר ירושלם ביד מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka byd yrwshlm ththmsr la lmymr byh rkhyts ath dy alhk yTeynk la lmymr yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk lkhzqyhw thymrwn kdyn
“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

הא את שמעתא דעבדו מלכי אתור לכל מדינתא לגמרותהון ואת מדמי לאשתיזבא:
lashthyzba mdmy wath lgmrwthhwn mdyntha lkl athwr mlky debdw shmetha ath ha
Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Shall you be delivered?

השיזבא יתהון דחלת עממיא דחבילו אבהתי ית גוזן וית חרן ורצף ובני עדן דבתלשר:
dbthlshr edn wbny wrtsp khrn wyth gwzn yth abhthy dkhbylw emmya dkhlth ythhwn hshyzba
Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?

אן מלכא דחמת ומלכא דארפד ומלכא דלקרתא ספרוים הלא טלטלינון ואגליאינון:
waglyaynwn TlTlynwn hla sprwym dlqrtha wmlka darpd wmlka dkhmth mlka an
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?’”

ונסיב חזקיה ית אגרתא מיד אזגדיא וקרא חדא מנהון וסליק לבית מקדשא דיי ופרסה חזקיה קדם יי:
yy qdm khzqyh wprsh dyy mqdsha lbyth wslyq mnhwn khda wqra azgdya myd agrtha yth khzqyh wnsyb
Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to Yahweh’s house, and spread it before Yahweh.

יי אלהא צבאות אלהא דישראל דשכינתה שריא עיל מן כרוביא אתה הוא יי ולית בר מנך לכל מלכות ארעא את עבדת ית שמיא וית ארעא:
area wyth shmya yth ebdth ath area mlkwth lkl mnk br wlyth yy hwa athh krwbya mn eyl shrya dshkynthh dyshral alha tsbawth alha yy
“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, who is enthroned among the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

גלי קדמך יי ודון ושמיע קדמך יי ואתפרע ועביד פורען על כל פתגמי סנחריב דשלח לחסדא עמא דיי קימא:
qyma dyy ema lkhsda dshlkh snkhryb pthgmy kl el pwren webyd wathpre yy qdmk wshmye wdwn yy qdmk gly
Turn your ear, Yahweh, and hear. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and behold. Hear all of the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the living God.

בקושטא יי אחריבו מלכי אתור ית כל מדינתא וית ארעהון:
arehwn wyth mdyntha kl yth athwr mlky akhrybw yy bqwshTa
Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the countries and their land,
19
ומוקדין ית טעותהון בנורא ארי לא טעון דאית בהון צרוך אינון אלהין עובד ידי אנשא אעא ואבנא ואבדונון:
wabdwnwn wabna aea ansha ydy ewbd alhyn aynwn tsrwk bhwn dayth Tewn la ary bnwra Tewthhwn yth wmwqdyn
and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.
20
וכען יי אלהנא פרוקנא מן ידה וידעון כל מלכות ארעא ארי את יי לית בר מנך:
mnk br lyth yy ath ary area mlkwth kl wydewn ydh mn prwqna alhna yy wken
Now therefore, Yahweh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Yahweh, even you only.”

ושלח ישעיה בר אמוץ לות חזקיה למימר כדנן אמר יי אלהא דישראל דבעיתא מן קדמי על סנחריב מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka snkhryb el qdmy mn dbeytha dyshral alha yy amr kdnn lmymr khzqyh lwth amwts br ysheyh wshlkh
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Yahweh, the God of Israel says, ‘Because you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria,

דין פתגמא די מליל יי עלוהי מבסרא עלך ממיקא עלך מלכות כנשתא דציון בתרך רישיהון מנידין עמא דבירושלם:
dbyrwshlm ema mnydyn ryshyhwn bthrk dtsywn knshtha mlkwth elk mmyqa elk mbsra elwhy yy mlyl dy pthgma dyn
this is the word which Yahweh has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

ית מן חסדתא וית מן אתרחבתא וקדם מן ארימתא קלא וזקפתא לרומא עינך ואמרתא מלין דלא כשרין קדם קדישא דישראל:
dyshral qdysha qdm kshryn dla mlyn wamrtha eynk lrwma wzqptha qla arymtha mn wqdm athrkhbtha mn wyth khsdtha mn yth
Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

ביד עבדך חסדת עמא דיי ואמרת בסגיאות רתיכי אנא סלקית לתקוף כרכיהון ואף איחוד בית מקדשהון ואקטול שפר גבריהון מבחר שלטוניהון ואכבוש קרית תוקפיהון ואשיצי סגי משריתהון:
mshrythhwn sgy washytsy thwqpyhwn qryth wakbwsh shlTwnyhwn mbkhr gbryhwn shpr waqTwl mqdshhwn byth aykhwd wap krkyhwn lthqwp slqyth ana rthyky bsgyawth wamrth dyy ema khsdth ebdk byd
By your servants, you have defied the Lord, and have said, “With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees. I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field.

אנא הויתי חפיר גובין ושתי מין וטפחית בפרסת רגלי עמא דעמי כל מי נהרין עמיקין:
emyqyn nhryn my kl demy ema rgly bprsth wTpkhyth myn wshthy gwbyn khpyr hwythy ana
I have dug and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt.”

הלא שמעתא מלקדמין מא עבדית לפרעה מלכא דמצרים ואף עלך אתנביאו נביי ישראל ולא תבתא ודא חזיא קדמי מיומי קדם למעבד לך ואף אתקנתא כען איתיתה ודא הות לך לתקלא על דהואה קדמך כאתרגושת גלין דשחו קרוין כריכן:
krykn qrwyn dshkhw glyn kathrgwshth qdmk dhwah el lthqla lk hwth wda aythythh ken athqntha wap lk lmebd qdm mywmy qdmy khzya wda thbtha wla yshral nbyy athnbyaw elk wap dmtsrym mlka lpreh ebdyth ma mlqdmyn shmetha hla
“‘Have you not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it in ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to destroy fortified cities, turning them into ruinous heaps.

ויתביהון אתקצר חיליהון אתברו ובהיתו הוו כעשב חקליא וירוק דתאה כעשב אגריא דשלוק עד לא מטא למהוי שובלין:
shwblyn lmhwy mTa la ed dshlwq agrya keshb dthah wyrwq khqlya keshb hww wbhythw athbrw khylyhwn athqtsr wythbyhwn
Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field, and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops, and like a field before its crop has grown.
28
ומתבך בעיצה ומקפך לברא לאגחא קרבא ומיתיך לארעא דישראל גלי קדמי וית דארגיזתא קדמי גלי:
gly qdmy dargyztha wyth qdmy gly dyshral larea wmythyk qrba lagkha lbra wmqpk beytsh wmthbk
But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.

חלף דארגזתא על מימרי ואתרגושתך סליקת לקדמי ואשוי שירין בליסתך וזמם בספותך ואתיבנך באורחא דאתיתא בה:
bh dathytha bawrkha wathybnk bspwthk wzmm blysthk shyryn washwy lqdmy slyqth wathrgwshthk mymry el dargztha khlp
Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.

ודין לך אתא אכול בשתא הדא כתין ובשתא תניתא כתכתין ובשתא תליתאה זרעו וחצודו וצובו כרמין ואכולו אבהן:
abhn wakwlw krmyn wtswbw wkhtswdw zrew thlythah wbshtha kthkthyn thnytha wbshtha kthyn hda bshtha akwl atha lk wdyn
“‘This shall be the sign to you: You will eat this year that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from it; and in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.

ויספון משזביא דבית יהודה דאשתארון כאילן דמשלח שורשוהי מלרע ומרים נופה לעילא:
leyla nwph wmrym mlre shwrshwhy dmshlkh kayln dashtharwn yhwdh dbyth mshzbya wyspwn
The remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah will again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
32
ארי מירושלם יפקון שאר צדיקיא ושיזבת מקימי אוריתא מטורא דציון במימרא דיי צבאות תתעביד דא:
da ththebyd tsbawth dyy bmymra dtsywn mTwra awrytha mqymy wshyzbth tsdyqya shar ypqwn myrwshlm ary
For out of Jerusalem a remnant will go out, and survivors will escape from Mount Zion. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.’
33
בכן כדנן אמר יי על מלכא דאתור לא יעול לקרתא הדא ולא יקשית תמן ניר ולא יקדמינה בתריסין ולא יצבור עלה מליתא:
mlytha elh ytsbwr wla bthrysyn yqdmynh wla nyr thmn yqshyth wla hda lqrtha yewl la dathwr mlka el yy amr kdnn bkn
“Therefore Yahweh says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither will he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.
34
באורחא דאתא בה יתוב ולקרתא הדא לא יעול אמר יי:
yy amr yewl la hda wlqrtha ythwb bh datha bawrkha
He will return the way that he came, and he won’t come to this city,’ says Yahweh.
35
ואגין על קרתא הדא למפרקה בדיל מימרי ובדיל דוד עבדי:
ebdy dwd wbdyl mymry bdyl lmprqh hda qrtha el wagyn
‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.’”
36
ונפק מלאכא דיי וקטל במשרית אתוראה מאה ותמנן וחמשא אלפין ואקדימו בצפרא והא כולהון פגרין מתין:
mthyn pgryn kwlhwn wha btspra waqdymw alpyn wkhmsha wthmnn mah athwrah bmshryth wqTl dyy mlaka wnpq
Then Yahweh’s angel went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
37
ונטל ואזל ותב סנחריב מלכא דאתור ויתיב בנינוה:
bnynwh wythyb dathwr mlka snkhryb wthb wazl wnTl
So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went away, returned to Nineveh, and stayed there.
38
והוה הוא סגיד בית נסרוך טעותה ואדרמלך ושראצר בנוהי קטלוהי בחרבא ואינון אשתזבו לארעא קרדו ומלך אסרחדון בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh asrkhdwn wmlk qrdw larea ashthzbw waynwn bkhrba qTlwhy bnwhy wshratsr wadrmlk Tewthh nsrwk byth sgyd hwa whwh
As he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons struck him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Esar Haddon his son reigned in his place.
