והוה בארבע עסרי שנין למלכא חזקיה סליק סנחריב מלכא דאתור על כל קרויא דבית יהודה כריכתא ואחדנון:
wakhdnwn kryktha yhwdh dbyth qrwya kl el dathwr mlka snkhryb slyq khzqyh lmlka shnyn esry barbe whwh
Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all of the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.

ושלח מלכא דאתור ית רבשקה מלכיש לירושלם לות מלכא חזקיה במשרית סגיאן וקם במזיקת בריכתא עליתא דכביש חקל משטח קצריא:
qtsrya mshTkh khql dkbysh elytha bryktha bmzyqth wqm sgyan bmshryth khzqyh mlka lwth lyrwshlm mlkysh rbshqh yth dathwr mlka wshlkh
The king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a large army. He stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool in the fuller’s field highway.

ונפק לותה אליקים בר חלקיה די ממנא על ביתא ושבנא ספרא ויואח בר אסף די ממנא על דכרניא:
dkrnya el mmna dy asp br wywakh spra wshbna bytha el mmna dy khlqyh br alyqym lwthh wnpq
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph the recorder came out to him.

ואמר להון רבשקה אמרו כען לחזקיה כדנן אמר מלכא דרבתנא מלכא דאתור מה רוחצנא הדין דאיתרחיצתא:
daythrkhytstha hdyn rwkhtsna mh dathwr mlka drbthna mlka amr kdnn lkhzqyh ken amrw rbshqh lhwn wamr
Rabshakeh said to them, “Now tell Hezekiah, ‘The great king, the king of Assyria, says, “What confidence is this in which you trust?

אמרית ברם בממלל ספון במלך וגבורא אעביד קרבא כען על מן איתרחיצתא ארי מרדתא בי:
by mrdtha ary aythrkhytstha mn el ken qrba aebyd wgbwra bmlk spwn bmmll brm amryth
I say that your counsel and strength for the war are only vain words. Now in whom do you trust, that you have rebelled against me?

הא איצרחיצתא על סמך קניא רעיעא הדין על פרעה מלכא דמצרים דאם יסתמיך גברא עלוהי ויעול בידה ויבזעינה כן פרעה מלכא דמצרים לכל דמתרחצין עלוהי:
elwhy dmthrkhtsyn lkl dmtsrym mlka preh kn wybzeynh bydh wyewl elwhy gbra ysthmyk dam dmtsrym mlka preh el hdyn reyea qnya smk el aytsrkhytstha ha
Behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt, which if a man leans on it, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

וארי תימרון לי על מימרא דיי אלהנא אתרחיצנא הלא הוא דאעדי חזקיה ית במתוהי וית אגרוהי ואמר לאנש יהודה וליתבי ירושלם קדם מדבחא הדין תסגדון:
thsgdwn hdyn mdbkha qdm yrwshlm wlythby yhwdh lansh wamr agrwhy wyth bmthwhy yth khzqyh daedy hwa hla athrkhytsna alhna dyy mymra el ly thymrwn wary
But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar’?”

וכען אתערב כען עם רבוני מלכא דאתור ואתן לך תרין אלפין סוסון אם תכול למנאה עלך רכבין עליהון:
elyhwn rkbyn elk lmnah thkwl am swswn alpyn thryn lk wathn dathwr mlka rbwny em ken atherb wken
Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.

ואיכדין את מדמי לאתבא ית אפי חד משלטוני עבדי ריבוני זעריא ואיתרחצתא לך על מצרים לרתיכין ולפרשין:
wlprshyn lrthykyn mtsrym el lk waythrkhtstha zerya rybwny ebdy mshlTwny khd apy yth lathba mdmy ath waykdyn
How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put your trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

וכען הבר ממימרא דיי סלקית לארעא הדא לחבלותא יי אמר לי סק על ארעא הדא וחבלה:
wkhblh hda area el sq ly amr yy lkhblwtha hda larea slqyth dyy mmymra hbr wken
Have I come up now without Yahweh against this land to destroy it? Yahweh said to me, “Go up against this land, and destroy it.”’”

ואמר אליקים ושבנא ויואח לרבשקה מליל כען עם עבדך ארמית ארי שמעין אנחנא ולא תמליל עמנא יהודית קדם עמא די על שורא:
shwra el dy ema qdm yhwdyth emna thmlyl wla ankhna shmeyn ary armyth ebdk em ken mlyl lrbshqh wywakh wshbna alyqym wamr
Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it. Don’t speak to us in the Jews’ language in the hearing of the people who are on the wall.”

ואמר רבשקה הלות רבונך ועלך שלחני רבוני למללא ית פתגמיא האלין הלא על גבריא דיתבין על שורא למיכל ית מפקתהון ולמשתי ית מימי רגליהון בצירא עמכון:
emkwn btsyra rglyhwn mymy yth wlmshthy mpqthhwn yth lmykl shwra el dythbyn gbrya el hla halyn pthgmya yth lmlla rbwny shlkhny welk rbwnk hlwth rbshqh wamr
But Rabshakeh said, “Has my master sent me only to your master and to you, to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, who will eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?”

וקם רבשקה ואכלי בקל רב יהודית ואמר שמעו ית פתגמא מלכא דרבתנא מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka drbthna mlka pthgma yth shmew wamr yhwdyth rb bql wakly rbshqh wqm
Then Rabshakeh stood, and called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!

כדנן אמר מלכא לא יטעי לכון חזקיה ארי לא יכול לשיזבא יתכון:
ythkwn lshyzba ykwl la ary khzqyh lkwn yTey la mlka amr kdnn
The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you; for he will not be able to deliver you.

ולא ירחיץ יתכון חזקיה על מימרא דיי למימר שיזבא ישזבננא יי לא תתמסר קרתא הדא ביד מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka byd hda qrtha ththmsr la yy yshzbnna shyzba lmymr dyy mymra el khzqyh ythkwn yrkhyts wla
Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us. This city won’t be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”’

לא תקבלון מן חזקיה ארי כדנן אמר מלכא דאתור עבידו עמי שלמא ופוקו לותי ואכולו גבר פרי גופנוהי וגבר פרי תינוהי ושתו גבר מי גובה:
gwbh my gbr wshthw thynwhy pry wgbr gwpnwhy pry gbr wakwlw lwthy wpwqw shlma emy ebydw dathwr mlka amr kdnn ary khzqyh mn thqblwn la
Don’t listen to Hezekiah, for the king of Assyria says, ‘Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and each of you eat from his vine, and each one from his fig tree, and each one of you drink the waters of his own cistern;

עד מיתא ואדבר יתכון לארעא טבא כארעכון לארעא טבא כארעכון ארע עבור וחמר ארע חקלין וכרמין:
wkrmyn khqlyn are wkhmr ebwr are karekwn Tba larea karekwn Tba larea ythkwn wadbr mytha ed
until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

דלמא יטעי יתכון חזקיה למימר יי ישזבננא השיזבא דחלת עממיא גבר ית ארעה מיד מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka myd areh yth gbr emmya dkhlth hshyzba yshzbnna yy lmymr khzqyh ythkwn yTey dlma
Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.” Have any of the gods of the nations delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria?

אן דחלת חמת וארפד אן דחלת ספרוים וארי שיזבו ית שמרון מן ידי:
ydy mn shmrwn yth shyzbw wary sprwym dkhlth an warpd khmth dkhlth an
Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

מן בכל דחלת מדינתא האלין דשיזבו ית ארעהון מן ידי ארי ישיזיב יי ית ירושלם מן ידי:
ydy mn yrwshlm yth yy yshyzyb ary ydy mn arehwn yth dshyzbw halyn mdyntha dkhlth bkl mn
Who are they among all the gods of these countries that have delivered their country out of my hand, that Yahweh should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?’”

ושתיקו ולא אתיבו יתה פתגמא ארי תפקידת מלכא היא למימר לא תתיבונה:
ththybwnh la lmymr hya mlka thpqydth ary pthgma ythh athybw wla wshthyqw
But they remained silent, and said nothing in reply, for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”

ואתא אליקים בר חלקיה די ממנא על ביתא ושבנא ספרא ויואח בר אסף די ממנא על דכרניא לות חזקיה כד מבזעין לבושיהון וחויאו ליה ית פתגמי רבשקה:
rbshqh pthgmy yth lyh wkhwyaw lbwshyhwn mbzeyn kd khzqyh lwth dkrnya el mmna dy asp br wywakh spra wshbna bytha el mmna dy khlqyh br alyqym watha
Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
