וי די יהיב כתרא לגיותנא טפשא רבא דישראל ויהב מצנפתא לרשיעיא דבית מקדשא תושבחתה די על ריש חילא שמינא כתישי חמר:
khmr kthyshy shmyna khyla rysh el dy thwshbkhthh mqdsha dbyth lrshyeya mtsnptha wyhb dyshral rba Tpsha lgywthna kthra yhyb dy wy
Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine!

הא מחן תקיפן וחסינן אתין מן קדם יי כזרמית ברד כעלעול רוח כזרמית מיין תקיפין שטפין כן יתון עליהון עממיא ויגלונון מארעהון לארעא אוחרי בחוביא די בידהון:
bydhwn dy bkhwbya awkhry larea marehwn wyglwnwn emmya elyhwn ythwn kn shTpyn thqypyn myyn kzrmyth rwkh kelewl brd kzrmyth yy qdm mn athyn wkhsynn thqypn mkhn ha
Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.

ברגלין יתדש כתרא דגיותנא טפשא רבא דישראל:
dyshral rba Tpsha dgywthna kthra ythdsh brglyn
The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.

ויהי דיהיב מצנפתא לרשיעיא דבית מקדשא תושבחתה די על ריש חילא שמינא כבכורא עד לא קיטא דאם יחזי דחזי יתה כאלו היא בידה יבלעינה:
ybleynh bydh hya kalw ythh dkhzy ykhzy dam qyTa la ed kbkwra shmyna khyla rysh el dy thwshbkhthh mqdsha dbyth lrshyeya mtsnptha dyhyb wyhy
The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer, which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.

בעדנא ההיא יהי משיחא דיי צבאות לכלילא דחדוא ולכתר דתושבחא לשארא דעמה:
demh lshara dthwshbkha wlkthr dkhdwa lklyla tsbawth dyy mshykha yhy hhya bedna
In that day, Yahweh of Armies will become a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to the residue of his people,

למימר קשוט דדין לדיתבין בבית דינא למדן דין דקשוט ולמתן נצחנא לדנפקין בקרבא לאתבותהון בשלם לבתיהון:
lbthyhwn bshlm lathbwthhwn bqrba ldnpqyn ntskhna wlmthn dqshwT dyn lmdn dyna bbyth ldythbyn ddyn qshwT lmymr
and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

ואף אלין בחמרא רוו ובעתיקא אסתלעמו כהנא וספר רוו מן עתיק אסתלעמו מן חמר טעו מן עתיק אתפניאו בתר מיכל בסיס טעו דינהא:
dynha Tew bsys mykl bthr athpnyaw ethyq mn Tew khmr mn asthlemw ethyq mn rww wspr khna asthlemw wbethyqa rww bkhmra alyn wap
They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.

ארי כל פתוריהון מלן מיכל מגעל ומשקץ לית להון אתר די נקי מן אונס:
awns mn nqy dy athr lhwn lyth wmshqts mgel mykl mln pthwryhwn kl ary
For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.

למן אתיהיבת אוריתא ומן אתפקד למסבר חוכמא הלא לבית ישראל דרחימין מכל עממיא וחביבין מכל מלכותא:
mlkwtha mkl wkhbybyn emmya mkl drkhymyn yshral lbyth hla khwkma lmsbr athpqd wmn awrytha athyhybth lmn
Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?

ארי אתפקדו למעבד אוריתא ומא דאתפקדו לא צביאו למעבד ואתנביאו עליהון נבייא דאם יתובון ישתבק להון ולמלי נבייא לא קבילו הליכו ברעות נפשהון ולא חמידו למעבד אוריתי סברו דיתקיים להון פולחן טעותא ולא סברו לפולחן בית מקדשי כזער הוה בעיניהון בית מקדשי למפלח תמן כזעיר בעיניהון שכנתי תמן:
thmn shknthy beynyhwn kzeyr thmn lmplkh mqdshy byth beynyhwn hwh kzer mqdshy byth lpwlkhn sbrw wla Tewtha pwlkhn lhwn dythqyym sbrw awrythy lmebd khmydw wla npshhwn brewth hlykw qbylw la nbyya wlmly lhwn yshthbq ythwbwn dam nbyya elyhwn wathnbyaw lmebd tsbyaw la dathpqdw wma awrytha lmebd athpqdw ary
For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.

ארי בשנוי ממלל ובלישן תולעבא הוו מלעגין לקביל נבייא דמתנבן להון עמא הדין:
hdyn ema lhwn dmthnbn nbyya lqbyl mlegyn hww thwleba wblyshn mmll bshnwy ary
But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and in another language,

דאמרין להון נבייא דין בית מקדשא פלחו ביה ודא אחסנת בית ניחא ולא אבו לקבלא אולפן:
awlpn lqbla abw wla nykha byth akhsnth wda byh plkhw mqdsha byth dyn nbyya lhwn damryn
to whom he said, “This is the resting place. Give rest to the weary,” and “This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.

דין יהי כס פורענותהון על דעברו על פתגמא דיי ועל דאתפקדו למעבד אוריתא ומא דאתפקדו לא צביאו למעבד בכן יתמסרון לעממיא דלא ידעו אוריתא על דהליכו ברעות נפשהון ולא חמידו למעבד רעותי בכן יסברון לסעיד בעדן דאיתי עליהון עקא ולא יהי להון סעיד וסמיך על דהוה זעיר בעיניהון בית מקדשי למפלח תמן בכן ישתארון כזעיר ביני עממיא דיגלון לתמן בדיל דיהכון ויתקלון לאחורא ויתברון ויתצדון ויתאחדון:
wythakhdwn wythtsdwn wythbrwn lakhwra wythqlwn dyhkwn bdyl lthmn dyglwn emmya byny kzeyr yshtharwn bkn thmn lmplkh mqdshy byth beynyhwn zeyr dhwh el wsmyk seyd lhwn yhy wla eqa elyhwn daythy bedn lseyd ysbrwn bkn rewthy lmebd khmydw wla npshhwn brewth dhlykw el awrytha ydew dla lemmya ythmsrwn bkn lmebd tsbyaw la dathpqdw wma awrytha lmebd dathpqdw wel dyy pthgma el debrw el pwrenwthhwn ks yhy dyn
Therefore Yahweh’s word will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.

בכן קבילו פתגמא דיי גברין רשיעין שלטוני עמא הדין די בירושלם:
byrwshlm dy hdyn ema shlTwny rshyeyn gbryn dyy pthgma qbylw bkn
Therefore hear Yahweh’s word, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:

ארי אמרתון גזרנא קים עם קטולא ועם מחבלא עבדנא שלמא מחת סנאה ארי תיתי עליכון כנחל מגבר דאתון אמרין לא תיתי עלנא ארי שוינא בכדיב רחצננא ובגין שקרין אטמרנא:
aTmrna shqryn wbgyn rkhtsnna bkdyb shwyna ary elna thythy la amryn dathwn mgbr knkhl elykwn thythy ary snah mkhth shlma ebdna mkhbla wem qTwla em qym gzrna amrthwn ary
“Because you have said, ‘We have made a covenant with death, and we are in agreement with Sheol. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won’t come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.’”

בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהים הא אנא ממני בציון מלך מלך תקיף גיבר ואימתן אתקפינה ואחסנינה אמר נביא וצדיקיא דהימנו באלין במיתי עקא לא יזדעזעון:
yzdezewn la eqa bmythy balyn dhymnw wtsdyqya nbya amr wakhsnynh athqpynh waymthn gybr thqyp mlk mlk btsywn mmny ana ha alhym yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore the Lord Yahweh says, “Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone of a sure foundation. He who believes shall not act hastily.

ואשוי דנא תקין דאטמרתון כחוט בנינא וזכותא כאבן משקולתא וידלק רוגזי ברוחצן כדביכון ועל דאטמרתון מן קדם מעיקא יתכון עממיא יגלון:
yglwn emmya ythkwn meyqa qdm mn daTmrthwn wel kdbykwn brwkhtsn rwgzy wydlq mshqwltha kabn wzkwtha bnyna kkhwT daTmrthwn thqyn dna washwy
I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.

ויבטל קימכון דעם קטולא ושלמכון דעם מחבלא לא יתקים מחת סנאה ארי תיתי עליכון כנחל מגבר ותחון להון לדיש:
ldysh lhwn wthkhwn mgbr knkhl elykwn thythy ary snah mkhth ythqym la mkhbla dem wshlmkwn qTwla dem qymkwn wybTl
Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it.
19
בזמן מעדוהי יגלי יתכון ארי בצפר בצפר יעדי בימם ובלילי ויהי עד לא ימטי זמן לוטא תסתכלון במלי נבייא:
nbyya bmly thsthklwn lwTa zmn ymTy la ed wyhy wblyly bymm yedy btspr btspr ary ythkwn ygly medwhy bzmn
As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message.”
20
ארי יתקצר חיליהון משעבוד תקיף ושלטון בבלאי מעיק יסגי מרוא:
mrwa ysgy meyq bblay wshlTwn thqyp mshebwd khylyhwn ythqtsr ary
For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.

ארי כמא דזעו טוריא כד איתגלי יקרא דיי ביומי עוזיה מלכא וכניסין דעבד ליהושע במישר גבעון לאתפרע מרשיעיא דעברו על מימרה כן יתגלי לאתפרעא מדעבדין עובדין נוכראין עובדיהון ומדפלחין פולחן טעותא פולחנהון:
pwlkhnhwn Tewtha pwlkhn wmdplkhyn ewbdyhwn nwkrayn ewbdyn mdebdyn lathprea ythgly kn mymrh el debrw mrshyeya lathpre gbewn bmyshr lyhwshe debd wknysyn mlka ewzyh bywmy dyy yqra aythgly kd Twrya dzew kma ary
For Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
22
וכען לא תתרשעון דלמא יתקפון יסוריכון ארי גמירא ושיצאה שמעית מן קדם יי אלהים צבאות על כל יתבי ארעא:
area ythby kl el tsbawth alhym yy qdm mn shmeyth wshytsah gmyra ary yswrykwn ythqpwn dlma ththrshewn la wken
Now therefore don’t be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, on the whole earth.
23
אמר נביא אציתו ושמעו קלי אתפנו וקבילו למימרי:
lmymry wqbylw athpnw qly wshmew atsythw nbya amr
Give ear, and hear my voice! Listen, and hear my speech!
24
בכל עדן מתנבן נבייא לאלפא מאים יתפתחן אודני חיביא ויקבלון אולפן:
awlpn wyqblwn khybya awdny ythpthkhn maym lalpa nbyya mthnbn edn bkl
Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?

הלא אם ישוון בית ישראל אפיהון למעבד אוריתא ויתוב ויכניש יתהון מביני עממיא דאינון מבדרין ביניהון הא כקצחא וככמונא דמזדריק ויקריב יתהון זרעין לשבטיהון הא כזרעי חטין על בייר וסעורין על סומנין וכונתין על תחומין:
thkhwmyn el wkwnthyn swmnyn el wsewryn byyr el khTyn kzrey ha lshbTyhwn zreyn ythhwn wyqryb dmzdryq wkkmwna kqtskha ha bynyhwn mbdryn daynwn emmya mbyny ythhwn wyknysh wythwb awrytha lmebd apyhwn yshral byth yshwwn am hla
When he has leveled its surface, doesn’t he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and the spelt in its place?
26
הא כל אלין אולפן דדין דידעון די אלהא מחוי להון אורחא דתקנא דיהכון בה:
bh dyhkwn dthqna awrkha lhwn mkhwy alha dy dydewn ddyn awlpn alyn kl ha
For his God instructs him in right judgment and teaches him.
27
ארי לא במוריגי ברזלא מדרכין קצחא וגלגלי עגלא על כמונא מחזרין ארי בחוטרא חבטין קצחא וכמונא במחבוטא:
bmkhbwTa wkmwna qtskha khbTyn bkhwTra ary mkhzryn kmwna el egla wglgly qtskha mdrkyn brzla bmwrygy la ary
For the dill isn’t threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.
28
ית עבורא מדרכין אף יתה ארי לא לעלמא אדרכא ידרכונה ומבלבל בגלגלי עגלתה ומפריש ית עבורא ומפרח ית דוקא:
dwqa yth wmprkh ebwra yth wmprysh eglthh bglgly wmblbl ydrkwnh adrka lelma la ary ythh ap mdrkyn ebwra yth
Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses don’t grind it.
