מטל נבואתא על קרתא דיתבא בחילתא דאתנביאו עלה נבייא מה לכון כדין ארי סלקתון כולכון לאגריא:
lagrya kwlkwn slqthwn ary kdyn lkwn mh nbyya elh dathnbyaw bkhyltha dythba qrtha el nbwatha mTl
The burden of the valley of vision. What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops?

מן קדם אתרגושא דאתמליאת קרתא משבחתא כרכא חדאה קטיליך לא אתקטילו בחרבא ואף בקרבא לא מיתו:
mythw la bqrba wap bkhrba athqTylw la qTylyk khdah krka mshbkhtha qrtha dathmlyath athrgwsha qdm mn
You that are full of shouting, a tumultuous city, a joyous town, your slain are not slain with the sword, neither are they dead in battle.

כל שלטוניך אטלטלו כחדא מן קדם מתח קשתא גלו כל דאשתכח ביך איתקטלו כחדא מרחיק ערקו:
erqw mrkhyq kkhda aythqTlw byk dashthkkh kl glw qshtha mthkh qdm mn kkhda aTlTlw shlTwnyk kl
All your rulers fled away together. They were bound by the archers. All who were found by you were bound together. They fled far away.

על כן אמרית שבוקו מני אבכי במרר לא תתבעיתו לנחמותי על תבר כנשתא דעמי:
demy knshtha thbr el lnkhmwthy ththbeythw la bmrr abky mny shbwqw amryth kn el
Therefore I said, “Look away from me. I will weep bitterly. Don’t labor to comfort me for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

ארי יום רגוש ואתדשא וקטול קדם יי אלהי צבאות על קרתא דיתבא בחילתא דאתנביאו עלה נבייא מבלשין בתיא מקפין מגדליא ברישי טוריא:
Twrya bryshy mgdlya mqpyn bthya mblshyn nbyya elh dathnbyaw bkhyltha dythba qrtha el tsbawth alhy yy qdm wqTwl wathdsha rgwsh ywm ary
For it is a day of confusion, and of treading down, and of perplexity from the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, in the valley of vision, a breaking down of the walls, and a crying to the mountains.”

ועילמאי נטלו זין ברתך אנש ועמה זוג פרשין ועל שור דבקו תריסין:
thrysyn dbqw shwr wel prshyn zwg wemh ansh brthk zyn nTlw weylmay
Elam carried his quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield.

והוה שפר משרך אתמליאו רתיכין ופרשין ממנן על תרעין:
threyn el mmnn wprshyn rthykyn athmlyaw mshrk shpr whwh
Your choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen set themselves in array at the gate.

וגלי ית מטמורית בית יהודה ואסתכי בעדנא ההיא על זין בית גנזי מקדשא:
mqdsha gnzy byth zyn el hhya bedna wasthky yhwdh byth mTmwryth yth wgly
He took away the covering of Judah; and you looked in that day to the armor in the house of the forest.

וית פלוגת קרתא דדוד חזיתון ארי סגיאת וכנישתון ית עמא למי בריכתא ארעיתא:
areytha bryktha lmy ema yth wknyshthwn sgyath ary khzythwn ddwd qrtha plwgth wyth
You saw the breaches of David’s city, that they were many; and you gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

וית בתי ירושלם מניתון ותרעתון בתיא לתקפא שורא:
shwra lthqpa bthya wthrethwn mnythwn yrwshlm bthy wyth
You counted the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.

ומקויא עבדתון בין שוריא למי ברכתא עתיקתא ולא אסתכלתון בדעבדה ודי בראה מלקדמין לא חזיתון:
khzythwn la mlqdmyn brah wdy bdebdh asthklthwn wla ethyqtha brktha lmy shwrya byn ebdthwn wmqwya
You also made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you didn’t look to him who had done this, neither did you have respect for him who planned it long ago.

ואכלי נביא דיי אלהי צבאות ביומא ההוא למבכי ולמספד ולגזוז ריש ולמיסר סקין:
sqyn wlmysr rysh wlgzwz wlmspd lmbky hhwa bywma tsbawth alhy dyy nbya wakly
In that day, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, called to weeping, to mourning, to baldness, and to dressing in sackcloth;

והא ביע וחדוה אמרין נקטול תורין וננכס עאן ניכול בסר ונשתי חמר ניכול ונשתי מדנמות לא נחי:
nkhy la mdnmwth wnshthy nykwl khmr wnshthy bsr nykwl ean wnnks thwryn nqTwl amryn wkhdwh bye wha
and behold, there is joy and gladness, killing cattle and killing sheep, eating meat and drinking wine: “Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.”

אמר נביא באודני הויתי שמע כד אתגזר דא מן קדם יי צבאות אם ישתבק חובא הדין לכון עד די תמותון מותא תנינא אמר יי אלהים צבאות:
tsbawth alhym yy amr thnyna mwtha thmwthwn dy ed lkwn hdyn khwba yshthbq am tsbawth yy qdm mn da athgzr kd shme hwythy bawdny nbya amr
Yahweh of Armies revealed himself in my ears, “Surely this iniquity will not be forgiven you until you die,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies.

כדנן אמר יי אלהים צבאות אתא אזיל לות פרנסא הדין לות שבנא די ממנא על ביתא:
bytha el mmna dy shbna lwth hdyn prnsa lwth azyl atha tsbawth alhym yy amr kdnn
The Lord, Yahweh of Armies says, “Go, get yourself to this treasurer, even to Shebna, who is over the house, and say,

ותימר ליה מה לך כא מה לך כדין ארי אתקנית לך כא אתר אתקין ברומא אתרה שוי בכיפא בית מדורה:
mdwrh byth bkypa shwy athrh brwma athqyn athr ka lk athqnyth ary kdyn lk mh ka lk mh lyh wthymr
‘What are you doing here? Who has you here, that you have dug out a tomb here?’ Cutting himself out a tomb on high, chiseling a habitation for himself in the rock!”

הא יי מטלטלך טלטול דגברא ותחפינך בהתא:
bhtha wthkhpynk dgbra TlTwl mTlTlk yy ha
Behold, Yahweh will overcome you and hurl you away violently. Yes, he will grasp you firmly.

יעדי מנך ית מצנפתא ויקיפונך בעלי דבב כשור מקף ויגלונך לארעא פתיות ידיין תמן תמות ולתמן רתיכי יקרך יתובון בקלן על דלא נטרתא יקר בית רבונך:
rbwnk byth yqr nTrtha dla el bqln ythwbwn yqrk rthyky wlthmn thmwth thmn ydyyn pthywth larea wyglwnk mqp kshwr dbb bely wyqypwnk mtsnptha yth mnk yedy
He will surely wind you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a large country. There you will die, and there the chariots of your glory will be, you disgrace of your lord’s house.
19
ואדחינך ממקומך ומשמושך ימגרינך:
ymgrynk wmshmwshk mmqwmk wadkhynk
I will thrust you from your office. You will be pulled down from your station.
20
ויהי בעדנא ההיא וארבי לעבדי לאליקים בר חלקיהו:
khlqyhw br lalyqym lebdy warby hhya bedna wyhy
It will happen in that day that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah,
21
ואלבשניה כתונך והמינך אזרזנה ושולטנך אתן בידה ויהי לאב ליתבי ירושלם ולבית יהודה:
yhwdh wlbyth yrwshlm lythby lab wyhy bydh athn wshwlTnk azrznh whmynk kthwnk walbshnyh
and I will clothe him with your robe, and strengthen him with your belt. I will commit your government into his hand; and he will be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

ואתן מפתח בית מקדשא ושולטן בית דוד ויפתח ולית דאחיד וייחוד ולית דפתח:
dpthkh wlyth wyykhwd dakhyd wlyth wypthkh dwd byth wshwlTn mqdsha byth mpthkh wathn
I will lay the key of David’s house on his shoulder. He will open, and no one will shut. He will shut, and no one will open.

ואמנניה אמרכל מהימן משמש באתר קים ויהי לכורסי יקר לבית אבוהי:
abwhy lbyth yqr lkwrsy wyhy qym bathr mshmsh mhymn amrkl wamnnyh
I will fasten him like a nail in a sure place. He will be for a throne of glory to his father’s house.

ויסתמכון עלוהי כל יקירי בית אבוהי בניא ובני בניא מרברביא ועד דעדקיא מכהניא לבשי אפודא ועד בני לוי אחדי נבליא:
nblya akhdy lwy bny wed apwda lbshy mkhnya dedqya wed mrbrbya bnya wbny bnya abwhy byth yqyry kl elwhy wysthmkwn
They will hang on him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the pitchers.

בעדנא ההיא אמר יי צבאות יעדי אמרכל מהימן די משמש באתר קים ויתקטף ויפול ותבטל מטל נבואתא די עלוהי ארי במימרא דיי גזר כן:
kn gzr dyy bmymra ary elwhy dy nbwatha mTl wthbTl wypwl wythqTp qym bathr mshmsh dy mhymn amrkl yedy tsbawth yy amr hhya bedna
“In that day,” says Yahweh of Armies, “the nail that was fastened in a sure place will give way. It will be cut down and fall. The burden that was on it will be cut off, for Yahweh has spoken it.”
