ܚܙܘܐ ܕܐܫܥܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܡܘܨ ܕܚܙܐ ܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܥܠ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܝ ܥܘܙܝܐ ܘܝܘܬܡ ܘܐܚܙ ܘܚܙܩܝܐ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ
dyhwd' mlk' wkhzqy' w'khz wywthm ewzy' bywmy 'wrshlm wel yhwd' el dkhz' 'mwts br d'shey' khzw'
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

ܫܡܥܘ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܨܘܬܝ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܠܠ ܒ̈ܢܝܐ ܪܒܝܬ ܘܪܡܪܡ̇ܬ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܐܥܠܝܘ ܒܝ

Hear, heavens, and listen, earth; for Yahweh has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against me.

ܐܝܕܥ ܬܘܪܐ ܩܢܝܗ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܐܘܪܝܐ ܕܡܪܗ ܘܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܘܥܡܝ ܠܐ ܐܣܬܟܠܘ
'sthklw l' wemy yde l' w'ysryl dmrh 'wry' wkhmr' qnyh thwr' 'yde
The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel doesn’t know. My people don’t consider.”

ܘܝ ܠܥܡܐ ܚܛܝܐ ܥܡܐ ܥܫܝܢ ܥܘܠܐ ܙܪܥܐ ܡܒܐܫܐ ܒ̈ܢܝܐ ܡܚ̈ܒܠܐ ܫܒܩܬܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܪܓܙܬܘܢ ܠܩܕܝܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܗܦܟܬܘܢ ܠܒܣܬܪܟܘܢ
lbsthrkwn whpkthwn d'ysryl lqdysh' w'rgzthwn lmry' shbqthwn mkhbl' bny' mb'sh' zre' ewl' eshyn em' khTy' lem' wy
Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.

ܠܡܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܬܒܠܥܘܢ ܘܬܘܣܦܘܢ ܠܡܬܪܕܝܘ ܟܠ ܪܝܫ ܠܟܐܒܐ ܘܟܠ ܠܒܐ ܠܟܪܝܘܬܐ

Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

ܡܢ ܦܣܬܐ ܕܪܓܠܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܘܚܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܫܪܝܪܐ ܨܘ̈ܠܦܬܐ ܘܫܘ̈ܡܬܐ ܘܡܚ̈ܘܬܐ ܕܥܒ̈ܝܐ ܠܐ ܠܡܨܡܕ ܘܠܐ ܠܡܥܨܒ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܡܪܟܟܘ ܒܡܫܚܐ

From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.

ܐܪܥܟܘܢ ܚܪܒܐ ܘܩܘܪ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܝܩ̈ܕܢ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܐܪܥܟܘܢ ܠܘܩܒܠܟܘܢ ܐܟ̇ܠܝܢ ܠܗ̇ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܘܨ̇ܕܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܦܝܟܬܐ ܕܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ

Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

ܘܐܫܬܚܪܬ ܒܪܬ ܨܗܝܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܡܛܠܬܐ ܒܟܪܡܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܥܪܙܠܐ ܒܡܩܛܝܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܚܒܝܫܬܐ

The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.

ܘܐܠܘ ܠܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܨܒܐܘܬ ܐܘܬܪ ܠܢ ܣܪܝܕܐ ܐܝܟ ܣܕܘܡ ܗܘ̇ܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܘܠܥܡܘܪܐ ܡܬܕܡܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ
hwyn mthdmyn wlemwr' hwyn hwyn sdwm 'yk sryd' ln 'wthr tsb'wth mry' l' w'lw
Unless Yahweh of Armies had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom. We would have been like Gomorrah.

ܫܡܥܘ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܫ̈ܠܝܛܐ̈ ܕܣܕܘܡ ܘܨܘܬܘ ܢܡܘܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܢ ܥܡܐ ܕܥܡܘܪܐ

Hear Yahweh’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

ܠܡܢܐ ܗܘ̇ܝܢ ܠܝ ܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܕܒܚܝ̈ܟܘܢ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܣܒ̇ܥܬ ܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܕܕܟܪ̈ܐ ܘܬܪܒܐ ܕܡ̈ܦܛܡܐ ܘܕܡܐ ܕܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܕܐܡܪ̈ܐ ܘܕܓܕ̈ܝܐ ܠܐ ܨܒ̇ܝܬ
tsbyth l' wdgdy' wd'mr' dthwr' wdm' dmpTm' wthrb' ddkr' elwth' sbeth mry' 'mr ddbkhykwn swg'' ly hwyn lmn'
“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says Yahweh. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.

ܟܕ ܬܐܬܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܡܢܘ ܒܥܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܠܡܕܫ ܕܪ̈ܝ

When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?

ܠܐ ܬܘܣܦܘܢ ܠܡܝܬܝܘ ܠܝ ܩܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ ܣܪ̈ܝܩܐ ܣܘܬܐ ܡܣܠܝܐ ܗܝ ܠܝ ܒܪܝܫ ܝܪ̈ܚܐ ܘܒܫܒܬܐ ܟܢ̇ܫܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܟܢܘܫܝܐ ܠܐ ܐܟ̇ܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܥܬܐ ܘܕܚܒܘܫܝܐ
wdkhbwshy' deth' 'n' 'kl l' knwshy' 'nthwn knshyn wbshbth' yrkh' brysh ly hy msly' swth' sryq' qwrbn' ly lmythyw thwspwn l'
Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations— I can’t stand evil assemblies.

ܪܝܫ ܝܪ̈ܚܝܟܘܢ ܘܥܕ̈ܥܐܕܝܟܘܢ ܣܢܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܗܘܘ ܥܠܝ ܠܐܝܩܪܬܐ ܠܐ̇ܝܬ ܠܡܫܩܠ
lmshql l'yth l'yqrth' ely hww npshy snth wede'dykwn yrkhykwn rysh
My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.

ܟܕ ܬܦܪܣܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܐܗܡܐ ܥܝ̈ܢܝ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܘܐܦܢ ܬܣܓܘܢ ܨܠܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܫܡ̇ܥ ܐܢܐ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܡ̈ܠܝܢ ܕܡܐ
dm' mlyn 'ydykwn 'n' shme l' tslwth' thsgwn w'pn mnkwn eyny 'hm' 'ydykwn thprswn kd
When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

ܣܚܘ ܘܐܬܕܟܘ ܘܐܥܒܪܘ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܕܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܥܝ̈ܢܝ ܫܠܘ ܡܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ
byshth' mn shlw eyny qdm mn debdykwn byshth' w'ebrw w'thdkw skhw
Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

ܘܐܝܠܦܘ ܠܡܛܐܒܘ ܥܩܒܘ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܐܛܐܒܘ ܠܛܠܝܡ̈ܐ ܕܘܢܘ ܝܬ̈ܡܐ ܘܕܘܢܘ ܐܪ̈ܡܠܬܐ
'rmlth' wdwnw ythm' dwnw lTlym' w'T'bw dyn' eqbw lmT'bw w'ylpw
Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

ܘܬܘ ܢܡܠܠ ܥܡ ܚ̈ܕܕܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܙܚܘܪܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܬܠܓܐ ܢܬܚܘܪܘܢ ܘܐܢ ܢܣܡܩܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܬܘܠܥܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܡܪܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ

“Come now, and let’s reason together,” says Yahweh: “Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

ܘܐܢ ܬܛܦܝܣܘܢ ܘܬܫܡܥܘܢܢܝ ܛܘܒܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܬܐܟܠܘܢ
th'klwn d're' Twbh wthshmewnny thTpyswn w'n
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land;

ܘܐܢ ܠܐ ܬܛܦܝܣܘܢ ܘܬܬܚܪܘܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܬܬܐܟܠܘܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܠܠ
mll dmry' pwmh thth'klwn bkhrb' wththkhrwn thTpyswn l' w'n
but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured with the sword; for Yahweh’s mouth has spoken it.”

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܬ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܬܐ ܕܡܠܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܒܬܬ ܒܗ̇ ܘܗܫܐ ܩܛܘ̈ܠܐ
qTwl' whsh' bh bthth wzdyqwth' dyn' hwth dmly' mhymnth' mdynth' znyth' hwth 'ykn'
How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice. Righteousness lodged in her, but now there are murderers.

ܟܣܦܟܝ ܐܣܬܠܝ ܚܢܘܝܝ̈ܟܝ ܚܠ̇ܛܝܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ

Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.

ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܝܟܝ ܡܪܘܕܝܢ ܘܫ̈ܘܬܦܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܓܢܒ̈ܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܪܚ̇ܡܝܢ ܫܘܚܕܐ ܘܡܣܬܪܗܒܝܢ ܠܡܦܪܥ ܚ̈ܘܒܠܐ ܠܝ̈ܬܡܐ ܠܐ ܕܝܢ̇ܝܢ ܘܕܝ̣ܢܐ ܕܐܪ̈ܡܠܬܐ ܠܐ ܥܐ̇ܠ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ
lwthhwn e'l l' d'rmlth' wdyn' dynyn l' lythm' khwbl' lmpre wmsthrhbyn shwkhd' rkhmyn klhwn dgnb' 'nwn wshwthp' mrwdyn rwrbnyky
Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܥܫܝܢܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܝ ܡܬܦܪܥ ܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܣ̈ܢܐܝ ܘܡܬܢܩܡ ܐܢܐ ܡܢ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝ
beldbby mn 'n' wmthnqm sn'y mn 'n' mthpre wy d'ysryl eshyn' khylthn' mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' hn' mTl
Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, the Mighty One of Israel, says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies.

ܘܐܦܢܐ ܐܝܕܝ ܥܠܝܟܝ ܘܐܨܪܘܦ ܡܪ̈ܘܕܝܟܝ ܠܕܟܝܘ ܘܐܥܒܪ ܥ̇ܘ̈ܠܝܟܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ
klhwn ewlyky w'ebr ldkyw mrwdyky w'tsrwp elyky 'ydy w'pn'
I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.

ܘܐܩܝܡ ܕܝ̇ܢ̈ܝܟܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܘܡ̈ܠܘܟܝܟܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܢ ܠܩܘܕܡܝܢ ܘܒܬܪܟܢ ܬܬܩܪܝܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ
dhymnwth' wmdynth' dzdyqwth' mdynth' ththqryn wbthrkn lqwdmyn dmn 'yk wmlwkyky qdym dmn 'yk dynyky w'qym
I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’

ܨܗܝܘܢ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܬܬܦܪܩ ܘܫܒܝܬܗ̇ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
bzdyqwth' wshbythh ththprq bdyn' tshywn
Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.

ܘܬܒܪܐ ܕܥ̇ܘ̈ܠܐ ܘܕܚ̈ܛܝܐ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܒܩܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܢܣܘܦܘܢ
nswpwn lmry' dshbqw w'ylyn 'kkhd' wdkhTy' dewl' wthbr'
But the destruction of transgressors and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake Yahweh shall be consumed.

ܡܛܠ ܕܢܒܗܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܦܬܟܪ̈ܐ ܕܪܓܘ ܘܢܚܦܪܘܢ ܡܢ ܓܢܝ̈ܬܐ ܕܓܒܘ
dgbw gnyth' mn wnkhprwn drgw pthkr' mn dnbhthwn mTl
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.

ܡܛܠ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܒܛܡܬܐ ܕܢܬܪܘ ܛܪ̈ܦܝܗ̇ ܘܐܝܟ ܓܢܬܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗ̇

For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.
