מטל כס די לוט לאשקאה ית בבל דאתנבי ישעיה בר אמוץ:
amwts br ysheyh dathnby bbl yth lashqah lwT dy ks mTl
The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

על כרכא דיתבא שליוא זקופו אתא ארימו קלא להון אניפו יד וייעלון בתרעהא מתנדבין:
mthndbyn bthreha wyyelwn yd anypw lhwn qla arymw atha zqwpw shlywa dythba krka el
Set up a banner on the bare mountain! Lift up your voice to them! Wave your hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

אנא פקדית למזמני אף ערעית גברי ויתפרעון מנהון רוגזי תוקפי ותושבחתי:
wthwshbkhthy thwqpy rwgzy mnhwn wythprewn gbry ereyth ap lmzmny pqdyth ana
I have commanded my consecrated ones; yes, I have called my mighty men for my anger, even my proudly exulting ones.

קל המון בטוריא דמות עם סגי קל אתרגושת מלכון עממיא דמתכנשין יי צבאות ממני משרין בקרבא:
bqrba mshryn mmny tsbawth yy dmthknshyn emmya mlkwn athrgwshth ql sgy em dmwth bTwrya hmwn ql
The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, as of a great people; the noise of an uproar of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Armies is mustering the army for the battle.

אתן מארעא רחיקא מסיפי ארעא יי ומני כס דלוט קדמוהי לחבלא כל רשעי ארעא:
area rshey kl lkhbla qdmwhy dlwT ks wmny yy area msypy rkhyqa marea athn
They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Yahweh, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

אילילו ארי קריב יומא דעתיד למיתי מן קדם יי כביזא מן קדם שדי ייתי:
yythy shdy qdm mn kbyza yy qdm mn lmythy dethyd ywma qryb ary aylylw
Wail, for Yahweh’s day is at hand! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.

על כן כל ידיא יתרשלון וכל לבא דאנשא יתמסי:
ythmsy dansha lba wkl ythrshlwn ydya kl kn el
Therefore all hands will be feeble, and everyone’s heart will melt.

ויתבהלון עקא וחבלין יחדונונון זיע כלידתא יזועון גבר לחבריה יתמהון אפי שלהובין אפיהון:
apyhwn shlhwbyn apy ythmhwn lkhbryh gbr yzwewn klydtha zye ykhdwnwnwn wkhblyn eqa wythbhlwn
They will be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows will seize them. They will be in pain like a woman in labor. They will look in amazement one at another. Their faces will be faces of flame.

הא יומא מן קדם יי עתיד למיתי אכזרי ותעבור ותקוף רגז לשואה ארעא לצדו וחיבהא ישיצי מנה:
mnh yshytsy wkhybha ltsdw area lshwah rgz wthqwp wthebwr akzry lmythy ethyd yy qdm mn ywma ha
Behold, the day of Yahweh comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger; to make the land a desolation, and to destroy its sinners out of it.

ארי כוכבי שמיא וכסליהון לא יזהרון נהוריהון וקבל שמשא במפקיה וסיהרא לא מזהר נהוריה:
nhwryh mzhr la wsyhra bmpqyh shmsha wqbl nhwryhwn yzhrwn la wkslyhwn shmya kwkby ary
For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

ואסער על זדירין בתבל בישתא ועל רשיעיא חוביהון ואבטיל רבות רשיעין ותקוף תקיפין אמאיך:
amayk thqypyn wthqwp rshyeyn rbwth wabTyl khwbyhwn rshyeya wel byshtha bthbl zdyryn el waser
I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will humble the arrogance of the terrible.

אחבב דחלי מדהבא דמתיקרין מניה בני אנשא ועבדי אוריתא ממסננא דאופיר:
dawpyr mmsnna awrytha webdy ansha bny mnyh dmthyqryn mdhba dkhly akhbb
I will make people more rare than fine gold, even a person than the pure gold of Ophir.

על כן שמיא אזיע ותזוע ארעא מאתרהא מן קדם יי צבאות וביום תקוף רוגזיה:
rwgzyh thqwp wbywm tsbawth yy qdm mn mathrha area wthzwe azye shmya kn el
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place in Yahweh of Armies’ wrath, and in the day of his fierce anger.

ויהי כטביא מפרד וכעאן ולית דמכניש גבר לעמיה יתפנון וגבר לארעיה יערקון:
yerqwn lareyh wgbr ythpnwn lemyh gbr dmknysh wlyth wkean mprd kTbya wyhy
It will happen that like a hunted gazelle and like sheep that no one gathers, they will each turn to their own people, and will each flee to their own land.

כל דישתכח בה יתקטל וכל דיעול לכרכי צירא יתקטל בחרבא:
bkhrba ythqTl tsyra lkrky dyewl wkl ythqTl bh dyshthkkh kl
Everyone who is found will be thrust through. Everyone who is captured will fall by the sword.

ועולימיהון יטרפון לעיניהון יתבזיזון בתיהון ונשיהון ישתכבן:
yshthkbn wnshyhwn bthyhwn ythbzyzwn leynyhwn yTrpwn wewlymyhwn
Their infants also will be dashed in pieces before their eyes. Their houses will be ransacked, and their wives raped.

הא אנא מיתי עליהון ית מדי די בכספא לא מטקסין ודהבא לא מתרעין ביה:
byh mthreyn la wdhba mTqsyn la bkspa dy mdy yth elyhwn mythy ana ha
Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who will not value silver, and as for gold, they will not delight in it.

וקשתתהון עולימין יבזען ועל ולד מעין לא ירחמון על בניא לא תחוס עיניהון:
eynyhwn thkhws la bnya el yrkhmwn la meyn wld wel ybzen ewlymyn wqshththhwn
Their bows will dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb. Their eyes will not spare children.

ותהי בבל דהות מלקדמין חדות מלכון תושבחת רבות כסדאי כהפיכתא דהפך יי ית סדום וית עמורה:
emwrh wyth sdwm yth yy dhpk khpyktha ksday rbwth thwshbkhth mlkwn khdwth mlqdmyn dhwth bbl wthhy
Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, will be like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

לא תתב לעלם ולא תשרי עד דר ודר לא יפרוס תמן ערבי משכניה ורעין לא ישרון תמן:
thmn yshrwn la wreyn mshknyh erby thmn yprws la wdr dr ed thshry wla lelm ththb la
It will never be inhabited, neither will it be lived in from generation to generation. The Arabian will not pitch a tent there, neither will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.
21
וישרון תמן תמון ויתמלון בתיהון אוחין וישרין תמן בנת נעמין ושידין יחיכון תמן:
thmn ykhykwn wshydyn nemyn bnth thmn wyshryn awkhyn bthyhwn wythmlwn thmwn thmn wyshrwn
But wild animals of the desert will lie there, and their houses will be full of jackals. Ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats will frolic there.
22
וינפצון חתולין בברניתהון וירודון בבית מישרי תפנוקיהון וקריב למיתי עדן תברה דבבל ויומהא לא יתרחקון:
ythrkhqwn la wywmha dbbl thbrh edn lmythy wqryb thpnwqyhwn myshry bbyth wyrwdwn bbrnythhwn khthwlyn wynptswn
Hyenas will cry in their fortresses, and jackals in the pleasant palaces. Her time is near to come, and her days will not be prolonged.
