ܘܝ ܠܕܒ̇ܕܩܝܢ ܒܕܩ̈ܐ ܕܥܬܐ ܘܟܬ̇ܒܝܢ ܥܘܠܐ
ewl' wkthbyn deth' bdq' ldbdqyn wy
Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees

ܠܡܨܠܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܡܣ̈ܟܢܐ ܘܠܡܒܙ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܒ̇ܝܫ̈ܐ ܕܥܡܝ ܕܢܫܒܘܢ ܠܐܪ̈ܡܠܬܐ ܘܢܒܙܘܢ ܠܝ̈ܬܡܐ
lythm' wnbzwn l'rmlth' dnshbwn demy dbysh' dyn' wlmbz dmskn' dyn' lmtsl'
to deprive the needy of justice, and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!

ܡܢܐ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܦܘܪܥܢܐ ܘܠܕܠܘܚܝܐ ܕܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܐܬ̇ܐ ܠܘܬ ܡ̇ܢ ܬܥܪܩܘܢ ܕܬܬܥܕܪܘܢ ܘܠܘܬ ܡ̇ܢ ܬܫܒܩܘܢ ܐܝܩܪܟܘܢ
'yqrkwn thshbqwn mn wlwth dththedrwn therqwn mn lwth 'th' rwkhq' dmn wldlwkhy' dpwren' lywm' thebdwn mn'
What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?

ܕܠܐ ܬܒܪܟܘܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܣܝܪܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܩܛܝܠܐ ܬܦܠܘܢ ܘܒܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܦܟ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܘܬܘܒ ܐܝܕܗ ܪܡܐ
rm' 'ydh wthwb rwgzh hpk l' klhyn wbhlyn thplwn qTyl' thkhyth 'syr' thkhyth thbrkwn dl'
They will only bow down under the prisoners, and will fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

ܘܝ ܠܐܬܘܪܝܐ ܫܒܛܐ ܗܘ ܕܪܘܓܙܝ ܘܚܘܛܪܐ ܗܘ ܒܐܝܕܗܘܢ ܕܡܚܘܬܝ
dmkhwthy b'ydhwn hw wkhwTr' drwgzy hw shbT' l'thwry' wy
Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation!

ܥܠ ܥܡܐ ܚܠܦܐ ܐܫܕܪܝܘܗܝ ܘܥܠ ܥܡܐ ܐܟܬܢܐ ܐܦܩܕܝܘܗܝ ܕܢܫܒܐ ܫܒܝܐ ܘܢܒܘܙ ܒܙܬܐ ܘܢܥܒܕܝܘܗܝ ܕܝܫܐ ܐܝܟ ܣܝܢܐ ܕܫ̈ܘܩܐ
dshwq' syn' 'yk dysh' wnebdywhy bzth' wnbwz shby' dnshb' 'pqdywhy 'kthn' em' wel 'shdrywhy khlp' em' el
I will send him against a profane nation, and against the people who anger me I will give him a command to take the plunder and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

ܘܗܘ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܕܡܝ ܘܒܠܒܗ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܬܚܫܒ ܐܠܐ ܕܢܘܒܕ ܒܠܒܗ ܘܢܣܝܦ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' emm' wnsyp blbh dnwbd 'l' 'thkhshb hkn' hw' l' wblbh dmy hkn' hw' l' whw
However, he doesn’t mean so, neither does his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off not a few nations.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܗܐ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn mlk' 'kkhd' rwrbn' dh' d'mr mTl
For he says, “Aren’t all of my princes kings?

ܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܟܪܟܡܘܫ ܒܠܝܘ ܘܐܝܟ ܪܦܕ ܚܡܬ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܪܡܣܘܩ ܫܡܪܝܢ
shmryn drmswq w'yk khmth rpd w'yk blyw krkmwsh 'yk h'
Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?”

ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܫܟܚܬ ܐܝܕܝ ܠܡ̈ܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܦܬܟܪ̈ܐ ܘܕ̈ܓܠܝܦܐ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܡܢ ܫܡܪܝܢ
shmryn wmn 'wrshlm mn wdglyp' dpthkr' lmlkwth' 'ydy d'shkkhth w'ykn'
As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria,

ܘܐܝܟ ܕܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܠܫܡܪܝܢ ܘܠܦܬܟܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܠܦܬܟܪ̈ܝܗ̇
wlpthkryh l'wrshlm 'ebd hkn' wlpthkryh lshmryn debdth w'yk
shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܡܐ ܕܫܡܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܨܗܝܘܢ ܘܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠ ܦܐܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܠܒܐ ܪܒܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܥܠ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܪܘܡܐ ܕܥܝܢ̈ܘܗܝ
deynwhy drwm' thshbwkhth' wel d'thwr mlk' rb' dlb' p'rwhy el 'pqwd wb'wrshlm dtshywn bTwr' ebdwhy klhwn mry' dshmly m' wnhw'
Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܒܚܝܠܐ ܕܐܝܕܝ ܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܘܒܚܟܡܬܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܣܟܘܠܬܢ ܐܢܐ ܐܥܒ̇ܪܬ ܬܚ̈ܘܡܝܗܘܢ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܢܟܣ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܒܙ̇ܬ ܘܟܒܫ̇ܬ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܕܝ̈ܬ̇ܒܢ
dythbn mdynth' wkbshth bzth wnksyhwn demm' thkhwmyhwn 'ebrth 'n' dskwlthn mTl wbkhkmthy ebdth d'ydy dbkhyl' d'mr mTl
For he has said, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.

ܘܐܫܟܚܬ ܐܝܕܝ ܐܝܟ ܩܢܐ ܠܚܝܠܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܟܢ̇ܫܝܢ ܒܢ̈ܬܐ ܕܫܒ̈ܝܩܢ ܟܢܫ̇ܬܗ̇ ܠܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܡܪܝܡ ܓܦܐ ܘܦܬ̇ܚ ܦܘܡܗ ܘܢܨ̇ܪ
wntsr pwmh wpthkh gp' dmrym hw' wl' 're' lklh knshthh dshbyqn bnth' dknshyn w'yk demm' lkhyl' qn' 'yk 'ydy w'shkkhth
My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”

ܕܠܡܐ ܡܫܬܒܚ ܢܪܓܐ ܥܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܦܣ̇ܩ ܒܗ ܐܘ ܡܬܬܪܝܡ ܡܣܪܐ ܥܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢܣ̇ܪ ܒܗ ܐܘ ܡܫܬܩܠ ܫܒܛܐ ܥܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܡܪܝܡ ܠܗ
lh dmrym mn el shbT' mshthql 'w bh dnsr mn el msr' mththrym 'w bh dpsq mn el nrg' mshthbkh dlm'
Should an ax brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܒܕܢܐ ܥܠ ܫܡܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܚܠܦ ܐܝܩܪܗ ܢܐܩܕ ܝܩܕܢܗ ܐܝܟ ܝܩܕܢܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ
dnwr' yqdn' 'yk yqdnh n'qd 'yqrh khlp shmynwhy el 'bdn' khylthn' 'lh' mry' nshdr hn' mTl
Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܢܘܗܪܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܢܘܪܐ ܘܩܕܝܫ̈ܘܗܝ ܠܫܠܗܒܝܬܐ ܘܬܘܩܕ ܘܬܐܟܘܠ ܝܥܪܗ ܘܟ̈ܘܒܘܗܝ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܚܕ
khd bywm' wkwbwhy yerh wth'kwl wthwqd lshlhbyth' wqdyshwhy lnwr' d'ysryl nwhrh wnhw'
The light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.

ܘܫܘܒܚܐ ܕܥܒܗ ܘܕܟܪܡܠܗ ܡܢ ܢܦܫܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܒܣܪܐ ܢܓܡܪ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ
hw' dl' 'yk wnhw' ngmr lbsr' wedm' npsh' mn wdkrmlh debh wshwbkh'
He will consume the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, both soul and body. It will be as when a standard bearer faints.

ܘܫܪܟܐ ܕܩܝ̈ܣܐ ܕܥܒܗ ܠܡܢܝܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܘܛܠܝܐ ܢܟܬܘܒ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn nkthwb wTly' nhwwn lmnyn' debh dqys' wshrk'
The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child could write their number.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܠܐ ܢܘܣܦ ܬܘܒ ܫܪܟܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܦܨܝܢ ܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܠܡܬܬܟܠܘ ܥܠ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܢܬܬܟܠܘܢ ܒܩܘܫܬܐ ܥܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ
d'ysr'yl qdysh' mry' el bqwshth' nththklwn 'l' 'nwn dnk' mn el lmththklw yeqwb dbyth mn dmthptsyn w'ylyn d'ysryl shrkh thwb nwsp l' hw bywm' wnhw'
It will come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel, and those who have escaped from the house of Jacob will no more again lean on him who struck them, but shall lean on Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

ܘܫܪܟܐ ܢܬܦܢܘܢ ܫܪܟܗ ܕܝܥܩܘܒ ܠܘܬ ܐܝܠ ܓܢܒܪܐ
gnbr' 'yl lwth dyeqwb shrkh nthpnwn wshrk'
A remnant will return, even the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.

ܘܐܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܥܡܟ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܟ ܚܠܐ ܕܒܝܡܐ ܫܪܟܐ ܢܬܦܢܘܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܟܪܡ ܘܦܣܩ ܘܓܪܦ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
bzdyqwth' wgrp wpsq krm mnhwn nthpnwn shrk' dbym' khl' 'yk 'ysryl emk nhw' w'n
For though your people, Israel, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܓܡܘܪܝܐ ܘܦܣܝܩ̈ܬܐ ܥܒ̇ܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܒܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ
're' bklh khylthn' mry' ebd wpsyqth' dgmwry' mTwl
For the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will make a full end, and that determined, throughout all the earth.

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ ܥܡܝ ܕܥܡ̇ܪ ܒܨܗܝܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܬܘܪܝܐ ܕܡ̇ܚܐ ܠܟ ܒܫܒܛܗ ܘܚܘܛܪܗ ܡܪܝܡ ܥܠܝܟ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ
dmtsryn b'wrkh' elyk mrym wkhwTrh bshbTh lk dmkh' 'thwry' mn btshywn demr emy thdkhl l' khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn'
Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, says, “My people who dwell in Zion, don’t be afraid of the Assyrian, though he strike you with the rod, and lift up his staff against you, as Egypt did.

ܡܛܠ ܕܥܕ ܩܠܝܠ ܙܥܘܪ ܘܢܫܬܡܠܐ ܪܘܓܙܝ ܘܚܡܬܝ ܥܠ ܚܒܠܗܘܢ
khblhwn el wkhmthy rwgzy wnshthml' zewr qlyl ded mTl
For yet a very little while, and the indignation against you will be accomplished, and my anger will be directed to his destruction.”

ܘܢܥܝܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܫܘܛܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܚܘܬܐ ܕܡܕܝܢ ܕܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܚܘܪܝܒ ܘܚܘܛܪܗ ܥܠ ܝܡܐ ܘܫܩܠܗ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ
dmtsryn b'wrkh' wshqlh ym' el wkhwTrh dkhwryb dbTwr' dmdyn mkhwth' 'yk shwT' khylthn' mry' elwhy wneyr
Yahweh of Armies will stir up a scourge against him, as in the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb. His rod will be over the sea, and he will lift it up like he did against Egypt.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܢܥܒܪ ܫܘܥܒܕܗ ܡܢ ܟܬܦܟ ܘܢܝܪܗ ܡܢ ܨܘܪܟ ܘܢܬܚܒܠ ܢܝܪܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܘܫ̈ܚܐ
mwshkh' qdm mn nyr' wnthkhbl tswrk mn wnyrh kthpk mn shwebdh nebr hw bywm' wnhw'
It will happen in that day that his burden will depart from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.

ܐܬܐ ܠܥܢܬ ܘܥܒܪ ܒܡܓܕܘ ܘܒܡܟܡܣ ܣܡ ܡܐ̈ܢܘܗܝ
m'nwhy sm wbmkms bmgdw webr lenth 'th'
He has come to Aiath. He has passed through Migron. At Michmash he stores his baggage.

ܥܒܪ ܠܡܥܒܪܐ ܕܓܒܥ ܠܒܝܬ ܒܝܬܢ ܕܚܠܬ ܪܡܬܐ ܘܓܒܥܬ ܫܐܘܠ ܥܪܩܬ
erqth sh'wl wgbeth rmth' dkhlth bythn lbyth dgbe lmebr' ebr
They have gone over the pass. They have taken up their lodging at Geba. Ramah trembles. Gibeah of Saul has fled.

ܨܗܠܝ ܒܩܠܟܝ ܒܪܬ ܓܠܝܡ ܨܘܬܝ ܠܝܫ ܘܥܢܝ ܥܢܬܘܬ

Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Listen, Laishah! You poor Anathoth!

ܐܬܪܚܩܬ ܡܪܡܢܐ ܘܝܬ̈ܒܝ ܓܘܒ̈ܝܢ ܥܫܢܘ

Madmenah is a fugitive. The inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety.

ܥܕܟܝܠ ܝܘܡܐ ܒܢܒ ܩܐ̇ܡ ܐܢܝܦ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܒܪܬ ܨܗܝܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܪ̈ܡܬܐ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ
d'wrshlm rmth' wel tshywn dbrth Twr' el 'ydh 'nyp q'm bnb ywm' edkyl
This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

ܗܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܡܣܚܦ ܠܡܫ̈ܒܚܐ ܒܥܘܫܢܐ ܘܕܪܡ̇ܝܢ ܒܩ̈ܘܡܬܐ ܢܬܡܟܟܘܢ ܘܕܪܡ̇ܝܢ ܢܫܬܦܠܘܢ
nshthplwn wdrmyn nthmkkwn bqwmth' wdrmyn bewshn' lmshbkh' mskhp khylthn' 'lh' mry' h'
Behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.
