ܫܡܥܘ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܝܢܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܥܡ ܥܡܘܪܝܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܥܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܩܘܫܬܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ

Hear Yahweh’s word, you children of Israel, for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

ܠܘܛܬܐ ܘܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܘܩܛܠܐ ܘܓܢܒܘܬܐ ܘܓܘܪܐ ܣܓܝܘ ܘܕܡܐ ܒܕܡܐ ܚܠܛܘ
khlTw bdm' wdm' sgyw wgwr' wgnbwth' wqTl' wdglwth' lwTth'
There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܬܬܒ ܒܐܒܠܐ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܐܠܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪܝܗ ܘܚܝܘܬܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܘܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܦ ܢܘܢܐ ܕܒܝܡܐ ܢܣܘܦܘܢ
nswpwn dbym' nwn' w'p dshmy' wprkhth' ddbr' wkhywth' emwryh klhwn wn'lwn 're' b'bl' ththb hn' mTl
Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells in it will waste away, with all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die.

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܕܐܢ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܡܟܣ ܘܥܡܟ ܐܝܟ ܟܗܢܐ ܡܬܚܪܐ
mthkhr' khn' 'yk wemk mks l' 'p d'n l' d'nsh mTl
“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest.

ܘܐܬܬܩܠܬ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܐܬܬܩܠ ܐܦ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܥܡܟ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܫܬܩܬ ܐܡܟ
'mk wshthqth blly' demk nby' 'p w'ththql b'ymm' w'ththqlth
You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.

ܫܬܩ ܥܡܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܐܢܬ ܓܝܪ ܐܣܠܝܬ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܘܐܣܠܝܟ ܡܢ ܟܗܢܘܬܐ ܘܛܥܝܬ ܢܡܘܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܟ ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܛܥܐ ܠܒܢܝܟ
lbnyk 'Te' 'n' 'p d'lhk nmwsh wTeyth khnwth' mn w'slyk ydeth' 'slyth gyr 'nth ydeth' bh dlyth mTl emy shthq
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.

ܐܝܟ ܣܘܓܐܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܚܛܘ ܘܐܝܩܪܗܘܢ ܒܩܠܠܐ ܚܠܦܘ
khlpw bqll' w'yqrhwn khTw hkn' swg'hwn 'yk
As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame.

ܚܛܝܬܗ ܕܥܡܝ ܐܟܠܘ ܘܠܥܘܠܗܘܢ ܐܪܡܝܘ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ

They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.

ܘܗܘܐ ܟܗܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܡܐ ܘܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܘܪܚܬܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܝܗܘܢ ܐܦܪܘܥ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn 'prwe webdyhwn 'wrkhthhwn elyhwn w'pqwd em' 'yk khn' whw'
It will be like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds.

ܘܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܣܒܥܘܢ ܙܢܝܘ ܘܠܐ ܣܓܝܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܡܪܝܐ ܫܒܩܘ ܘܪܚܡܘ
wrkhmw shbqw dlmry' mTl sgyw wl' znyw nsbewn wl' wn'klwn
They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned listening to Yahweh.

ܙܢܝܘܬܐ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܘܪܘܝܘܬܐ ܢܣܒܗ ܠܠܒܗܘܢ
llbhwn nsbh wrwywth' wkhmr' znywth'
Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.

ܥܡܝ ܒܬܪܥܝܬܗ ܫܐܠ ܘܚܘܛܪܗ ܚܘܝܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܕܙܢܝܘܬܐ ܐܛܥܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܗܦܟܘ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ
'lhhwn mn whpkw 'nwn 'Teyth dznywth' drwkh' mTl khwyh wkhwTrh sh'l bthreythh emy
My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God.

ܥܠ ܪܝܫܝ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܒܚܘ ܘܥܠ ܪܡܬܐ ܣܡܘ ܒܣܡܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܒܠܘܛܐ ܘܚܘܪܐ ܘܒܛܡܬܐ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܛܠܠܗ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܙܢܝܢ ܒܢܬܟܘܢ ܘܟܠܠܬܟܘܢ ܢܓܘܪܢ
ngwrn wkllthkwn bnthkwn nznyn hn' mTl Tllh dshpyr wbTmth' wkhwr' blwT' thkhyth bsm' smw rmth' wel dbkhw Twr' ryshy el
They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery.

ܠܐ ܐܣܥܘܪ ܒܢܬܟܘܢ ܟܕ ܢܙܢܝܢ ܘܐܦ ܠܐ ܟܠܠܬܟܘܢ ܟܕ ܢܓܘܪܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܢܝܢ ܥܡ ܙܢܝܐ ܚܠܝܛܢ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܥܡ ܢܦܩܬ ܫܘܩܐ ܡܕܒܚܝܢ ܥܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܣܬܟܠ ܥܦܩ

I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.

ܙܢܝܬܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐ ܬܚܝܒ ܠܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ ܠܓܠܓܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܩܘܢ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܐܡܘܢ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' hw khy th'mwn wl' 'wn lbyth thsqwn wl' lglgl' th'zlwn wl' lyhwd' thkhyb l' 'ysryl dyn 'nth znyth'
“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As Yahweh lives.’

ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܟ ܬܘܪܬܐ ܕܡܪܕܬ ܡܢ ܢܝܪܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܡܪܕ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܡܟܝܠ ܢܪܥܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܐܡܪܐ ܒܪܘܚܬܐ
brwkhth' 'mr' 'yk mry' 'nwn nre' wmkyl 'ysryl mrd hkn' nyr' mn dmrdth thwrth' d'yk mTl
For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will Yahweh feed them like a lamb in a meadow?

ܫܘܬܦܐ ܗܘ ܕܦܬܟܪܐ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܫܒܘܩܘ ܠܗ

Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone!

ܟܠܗܘܢ ܙܢܝܘ ܘܪܚܡܘ ܨܥܪܐ ܘܕܚܠܬܐ
wdkhlth' tser' wrkhmw znyw klhwn
Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way.
