ܟܕ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܪܐܬ ܗܘܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܪܒܐ ܒܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܬܚܝܒ ܒܒܥܠܐ ܘܡܝܬ
wmyth bbel' w'thkhyb b'ysryl rb' whw' hw' r'th 'prym mmll kd
When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling. He exalted himself in Israel, but when he became guilty through Baal, he died.

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܘܣܦܘ ܠܡܚܛܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܣܝܟܐ ܡܢ ܣܐܡܗܘܢ ܒܕܡܘܬܗܘܢ ܦܬܟܪܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܢܓܪܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܚܝ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܠܥܓܠܐ ܡܢܫܩܝܢ
mnshqyn wlegl' 'nsh' bny dbkhy lhwn hww w'mryn dngr' ebd' pthkr' bdmwthhwn s'mhwn mn nsyk' lhwn webdw lmkhT' 'wspw whsh'
Now they sin more and more, and have made themselves molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen. They say of them, ‘They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves.’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܢܢܐ ܕܨܦܪܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܛܠܐ ܕܡܩܕܡ ܘܥܒܪ ܘܐܝܟ ܓܠܐ ܕܦܪܚ ܡܢ ܐܕܪܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܬܢܢܐ ܡܢ ܟܘܬܐ
kwth' mn thnn' w'yk 'dr' mn dprkh gl' w'yk webr dmqdm Tl' w'yk dtspr' enn' 'yk nhwwn hn' mTl
Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the dew that passes away early, like the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and like the smoke out of the chimney.

ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܕܐܣܩܬܟ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܐܠܗ ܠܒܪ ܡܢܝ ܠܐ ܬܕܥ ܘܠܝܬ ܕܦܪܩ ܐܠܐ ܐܢܐ
'n' 'l' dprq wlyth thde l' mny lbr 'lh dmtsryn 're' mn d'sqthk 'lhk mry' 'n' 'n'
“Yet I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.

ܐܢܐ ܪܥܝܬܟ ܒܡܕܒܪܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܚܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܬܒܐ

I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.

ܘܪܥܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܠܘ ܟܪܣܗܘܢ ܘܐܬܬܪܝܡ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܛܥܐܘܢܝ
Te'wny hn' mTl lbhwn w'ththrym krshwn wmlw 'nwn wreyth
According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.

ܘܗܘܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܢܡܪܐ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ
d'thwr b'wrkh' nmr' w'yk 'ry' 'yk lhwn whwyth
Therefore I am like a lion to them. Like a leopard, I will lurk by the path.

ܐܦܓܥ ܒܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܐ ܕܬܒܪܐ ܘܐܒܙܘܥ ܡܩܪܡܐ ܕܠܒܗܘܢ ܘܢܐܟܘܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܬܡܢ ܐܪܝܐ ܘܚܝܘܬ ܒܪܐ ܬܦܪܬ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn thprth br' wkhywth 'ry' thmn 'nwn wn'kwl dlbhwn mqrm' w'bzwe dthbr' db' 'yk bhwn 'pge
I will meet them like a bear that is bereaved of her cubs, and will tear the covering of their heart. There I will devour them like a lioness. The wild animal will tear them.

ܚܒܠܬܟ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܡܢܘ ܢܥܕܪܟ

You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.

ܐܝܟܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܠܟܟ ܢܦܪܩܟ ܘܠܟܘܠܗܝܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܟ ܘܕܝܢܟ ܕܫܐܠܬܢܝ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܗܒ ܠܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܫܠܝܛܐ

Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes’?

ܘܝܗܒܬ ܠܟ ܡܠܟܐ ܒܪܘܓܙܝ ܘܢܣܒܬܗ ܒܚܡܬܝ
bkhmthy wnsbthh brwgzy mlk' lk wyhbth
I have given you a king in my anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.

ܨܪܝܪ ܥܘܠܗ ܕܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܡܛܫܝܐ ܚܛܝܬܗ

The guilt of Ephraim is stored up. His sin is stored up.

ܚܒܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܝܠܕܬܐ ܢܐܬܘܢ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܚܟܝܡ ܡܟܝܠ ܠܐ ܢܩܘܡ ܒܚܒܠܐ ܕܒܢܝܐ
dbny' bkhbl' nqwm l' mkyl khkym dl' hw dbr' mTl elwhy n'thwn dyldth' 'yk khbl'
The sorrows of a travailing woman will come on him. He is an unwise son, for when it is time, he doesn’t come to the opening of the womb.

ܡܢ ܝܕ ܫܝܘܠ ܐܦܪܘܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܢ ܡܘܬܐ ܐܦܨܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܟܐ ܗܝ ܗܟܝܠ ܙܟܘܬܟ ܡܘܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܝܟܘ ܥܘܩܣܟܝ ܫܝܘܠ ܒܘܝܐܐ ܛܫܐ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܝ
eyny mn Tsh' bwy'' shywl ewqsky 'ykw 'w mwth' zkwthk hkyl hy 'yk' 'nwn 'pts' mwth' wmn 'nwn 'prwq shywl yd mn
I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death! Death, where are your plagues? Sheol, where is your destruction? “Compassion will be hidden from my eyes.

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘ ܒܝܬ ܐܚܐ ܢܦܪܘܫ ܬܐܬܐ ܡܕܢܚܐ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܡܕܒܪܐ ܬܣܩ ܘܬܚܪܒ ܡܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܘܬܘܒܫ ܡܒܘܥܘܗܝ ܘܗܘ ܢܒܘܙ ܓܙܐ ܕܟܠ ܡܐܢܐ ܕܪܓܬܐ
drgth' m'n' dkl gz' nbwz whw mbwewhy wthwbsh meynwhy wthkhrb thsq mdbr' mn dmry' rwkhh mdnkh' th'th' nprwsh 'kh' byth dhw mTl
Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of Yahweh coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.
