אסגיאו קדמי כדבין דבית אפרים ובנכלהון דבית ישראל ודבית יהודה הוו מתקפין בפולחנא עד דגלא עמא דאלהא מארעהון ואינון דהוו פלחין קדמי בבית מקדשא מתקרן עמא קדישא בכן הוו קימין:
qymyn hww bkn qdysha ema mthqrn mqdsha bbyth qdmy plkhyn dhww waynwn marehwn dalha ema dgla ed bpwlkhna mthqpyn hww yhwdh wdbyth yshral dbyth wbnklhwn aprym dbyth kdbyn qdmy asgyaw
Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

בית ישראל דמן לדרוח זרע ועלעול חצד כל יומא כדבין ובזא מסגן וקים עם אתוראה אקימו וקורבנא למצרים מובלין:
mwblyn lmtsrym wqwrbna aqymw athwrah em wqym msgn wbza kdbyn ywma kl khtsd welewl zre ldrwkh dmn yshral byth
Yahweh also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.

ודינא קדם יי עם דבית יהודה ולאסערא על יעקב כאורחתיה וכעובדוהי תקניא יתיב ליה:
lyh ythyb thqnya wkewbdwhy kawrkhthyh yeqb el wlasera yhwdh dbyth em yy qdm wdyna
In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he contended with God.

נביא אמר להון הלא יעקב עד דלא אתיליד אמיר דיסגי מן אחוהי ובתוקפיה אתרברב עם מלאכא:
mlaka em athrbrb wbthwqpyh akhwhy mn dysgy amyr athylyd dla ed yeqb hla lhwn amr nbya
Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—

ואתרברב עם מלאכא ויכיל בכא ובעא מניה בבית אל אתגלי עלוהי ותמן ימליל עמנא:
emna ymlyl wthmn elwhy athgly al bbyth mnyh wbea bka wykyl mlaka em wathrbrb
even Yahweh, the God of Armies. Yahweh is his name of renown!

נביא אמר להון הוא יי אלהי צבאות דאתגלי על אברהם יצחק ויעקב וכמא דאמיר על ידי משה דכרניה לכל דר ודר:
wdr dr lkl dkrnyh mshh ydy el damyr wkma wyeqb ytskhq abrhm el dathgly tsbawth alhy yy hwa lhwn amr nbya
Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

ואת בפולחנא דאלהך תתקיף חיסדא ודינא טר וסבר לפורקנא דאלהך תדירא:
thdyra dalhk lpwrqna wsbr Tr wdyna khysda ththqyp dalhk bpwlkhna wath
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.

לא תהוין כתגרין דבידיהון מוזנון דנכיל למינס רחמין:
rkhmyn lmyns dnkyl mwznwn dbydyhwn kthgryn thhwyn la
Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

ואמרו דבית אפרים ברם עתרנא אשכחנא אונס לנא נביא אמר להון כל עותרכון לא יתקים לכון כיום תושלמת חוביכון:
khwbykwn thwshlmth kywm lkwn ythqym la ewthrkwn kl lhwn amr nbya lna awns ashkkhna ethrna brm aprym dbyth wamrw
“But I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

ואנא יי אלהך דאפיקתך מארעא דמצרים עוד אותבינך במשכנין כיומי קדם:
qdm kywmy bmshknyn awthbynk ewd dmtsrym marea dapyqthk alhk yy wana
I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.

ומללית עם נבייא ואנא נבואן אסגיתי וביד נבייא שלחית:
shlkhyth nbyya wbyd asgythy nbwan wana nbyya em wmllyth
If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.

אם בגלעד הוו אנוסין ברם בבית גלגלא תורין לטעון דבחו אף אגוריהון אסגיאו כגרין על תחומי חקלא:
khqla thkhwmy el kgryn asgyaw agwryhwn ap dbkhw lTewn thwryn glgla bbyth brm anwsyn hww bgled am
Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.

נביא אמר להון הלא יעקב אבוכון אזל לחקלי ארם ופלח ישראל באתתא ובאתתא נטר ענא:
ena nTr wbaththa baththa yshral wplkh arm lkhqly azl abwkwn yeqb hla lhwn amr nbya
By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

ואף כד נחתו אבהתכון למצרים נביא שלח יי ואסיק ית ישראל ממצרים ועל ידי נביא אתנטר:
athnTr nbya ydy wel mmtsrym yshral yth wasyq yy shlkh nbya lmtsrym abhthkwn nkhthw kd wap
Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
