ܚܕܪܢܝ ܒܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ ܘܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܢܟܠܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܚܬ ܥܡܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܥܡܐ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܘܡܗܝܡܢܐ
wmhymn' qdysh' em' d'lh' emh dnkhth edm' bnkl' wyhwd' 'ysr'yl wbyth 'prym bdglwth' khdrny
Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

ܐܦܪܝܡ ܪܥܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܘܪܕܦ ܥܠܥܠܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܟܠܗ ܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܘܒܙܬܐ ܐܣܓܝܘ ܘܕܝܬܩܐ ܥܡ ܐܬܘܪܝܐ ܦܣܩܘ ܘܡܫܚܐ ܠܡܨܪܝܢ ܐܘܒܠܘ
'wblw lmtsryn wmshkh' psqw 'thwry' em wdythq' 'sgyw wbzth' dglwth' klh ywm' elel' wrdp rwkh' re' 'prym
Yahweh also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.

ܘܕܝܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܥܡ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܢܬܒܥ ܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܐܝܟ ܐܘܪܚܬܗ ܘܐܝܟ ܨܢܥܬܗ ܢܦܪܥܝܘܗܝ
npreywhy tsnethh w'yk 'wrkhthh 'yk lyeqwb wnthbe yhwd' em lmry' 'yth wdyn'
In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he contended with God.

ܒܡܪܒܥܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܟܠ ܠܐܚܘܗܝ ܘܒܥܘܫܢܗ ܐܬܪܘܪܒ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' qdm 'thrwrb wbewshnh l'khwhy nkl gyr bmrbe'
Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—

ܘܐܬܡܨܝ ܚܝܠ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܘܒܥܐ ܡܢܗ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܐܫܟܚܗ ܘܬܡܢ ܡܠܠ ܥܡܗ
emh mll wthmn 'shkkhh 'yl byth mnh wbe' ml'k' khyl w'thmtsy
even Yahweh, the God of Armies. Yahweh is his name of renown!

ܘܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܬܕܟܪܗ
'thdkrh khylthn' 'lh' wmry'
Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܦܢܝ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܟ ܘܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܛܪ ܣܟܐ ܠܐܠܗܟ ܐܡܝܢܐܝܬ
'myn'yth l'lhk sk' Tr wdyn' wTybwth' 'lhk lwth 'thpny dyn 'nth
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.

ܡܣܐܬܐ ܕܢܟܠܐ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܕܟܢܥܢ ܘܠܡܛܠܡ ܪܚܡ

Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܕܥܬܪܬ ܘܐܫܟܚܬ ܠܝ ܟܐܒܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܠܐܘܬܝ ܠܐ ܣܦܩܐ ܠܝ ܠܚܛܗܐ ܕܚܛܝܬ
dkhTyth lkhTh' ly spq' l' l'wthy wklh k'b' ly w'shkkhth dethrth 'prym w'mr
“But I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟ ܕܐܣܩܬܟ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܬܘܒ ܐܘܬܒܟ ܒܡܫܟܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܕܥܕܥܐܕܐ
dede'd' ywmth' 'yk bmshkn' 'wthbk thwb dmtsryn 're' mn d'sqthk 'lhk mry' 'n' 'n'
I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.

ܘܡܠܠܬ ܥܡ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܚܙܘܢܝ ܐܣܓܝܬ ܘܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܐܬܕܡܝܬ
'thdmyth dnby' wb'yd' 'sgyth khzwny w'n' nby' em wmllth
If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.

ܒܓܠܥܕ ܟܐܒܐ ܘܒܓܠܓܠܐ ܠܣܪܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܒܚܬܘܢ ܬܘܪܐ ܐܦ ܡܕܒܚܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܓܠܐ ܒܚܩܠܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܒܝܪܬܐ
byrth' d're' bkhql' gl' 'yk mdbkhykwn 'p thwr' dbkhthwn lsryqwth' wbglgl' k'b' bgled
Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.

ܘܥܪܩ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܪܡ ܘܦܠܚ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܚܠܦ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܐܦܝ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܢܛܪ
nTr 'nthth' 'py wel 'nthth' khlp 'ysryl wplkh d'rm l're' yeqwb werq
By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

ܘܒܢܒܝܐ ܐܣܩ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܒܢܒܝܐ ܐܬܢܛܪ
'thnTr wbnby' mtsryn mn l'ysryl mry' 'sq wbnby'
Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
