ܡܛܠ ܕܟܕ ܛܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܪܚܡܬܗ ܘܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܩܪܝܬܗ ܒܪܝ

“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

ܐܝܟ ܕܩܪܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܙܠܘ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝ ܘܠܒܥܠܐ ܕܒܚܘ ܘܠܓܠܝܦܐ ܣܡܘ ܒܣܡܐ
bsm' smw wlglyp' dbkhw wlbel' qdmy mn 'zlw hkn' 'nwn dqrw 'yk
They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to engraved images.

ܘܐܢܐ ܕܒܪܬ ܠܐܦܪܝܡ ܘܩܒܠܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܪܥܝ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܕܐܣܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn d'syth ydew wl' drey el 'nwn wqblth l'prym dbrth w'n'
Yet I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by their arms, but they didn’t know that I healed them.

ܒܚܒܠܐ ܕܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܢܓܕܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܒܫܫܠܬܐ ܕܪܚܡܬܐ ܘܗܘܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܗܘ ܕܡܪܝܡ ܢܝܪܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܪܟܢܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܟܠܘ
w'klw lhwn w'rknth qdlhwn mn nyr' dmrym hw 'yk lhwn whwyth drkhmth' wbshshlth' 'nwn ngdth 'nsh' dbny bkhbl'
I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love; and I was to them like those who lift up the yoke on their necks; and I bent down to him and I fed him.

ܠܐ ܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܬܘܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܡܠܟܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܠܡܗܦܟ
lmhpk tsbw dl' mTl mlkhwn hw w'thwry' dmtsryn l're' nhpkwn l'
“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.

ܢܬܟܪܗ ܣܝܦܐ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܗܘܢ ܘܢܬܛܠܩ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܬܪܥܝܬܗܘܢ
threythhwn mn wn'klwn 'ydyhwn mn wnthTlq bmdynthhwn syp' nthkrh
The sword will fall on their cities, and will destroy the bars of their gates, and will put an end to their plans.

ܘܥܡܝ ܬܠܝܢ ܠܡܬܒ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܠܐܠܗܐ ܢܩܪܘܢ ܘܢܪܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܬܪܝܡ
nththrym wl' khd' 'yk wnrn' nqrwn wl'lh' lwthy lmthb thlyn wemy
My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܐܣܝܥܟ ܐܦܪܝܡ ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܐܥܕܪܟ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܐܥܒܕܟ ܐܝܟ ܐܕܡܐ ܐܘ ܐܝܟ ܨܒܘܐܝܡ ܐܬܗܦܟ ܠܒܝ ܘܓܠܘ ܪܚܡܝ

“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.

ܠܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܚܡܬܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܗܦܘܟ ܠܡܚܒܠܘܬܗ ܠܐܦܪܝܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܥܘܠ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ
lmdynth' 'ewl wl' 'n' qdysh' bynthkwn brnsh' hwyth wl' 'n' d'lh' mTl l'prym lmkhblwthh 'hpwk wl' drwgzy khmth' 'ebd l'
I will not execute the fierceness of my anger. I will not return to destroy Ephraim, for I am God, and not man—the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.

ܒܬܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܕܢܗܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘ ܢܢܗܡ ܘܢܙܘܥܘܢ ܒܢܝܐ ܡܢ ܥܡܐ
em' mn bny' wnzwewn nnhm dhw mTl dnhm 'ry' 'yk n'zlwn mry' bthr
They will walk after Yahweh, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west.

ܘܢܕܘܠܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܛܝܪܐ ܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܝܘܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܐܗܦܟ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܝܬܒܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr lythbhwn 'nwn w'hpk d'thwr 're' mn ywn' w'yk mtsryn mn Tyr' 'yk wndwlwn
They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says Yahweh.
