ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܟ ܫܠܝܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝܡܐ ܘܗܘ ܐܪܥܗ ܠܐܒܪܗܡ ܟܕ ܗܦܟ ܡܢ ܚܪܒܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܒܪܟܗ
hn' dyn mlkyzdq 'ythwhy mlk shlym kwmr' d'lh' mrym' whw 'reh l'brhm kd hpk mn khrb' dmlk' wbrkh
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

ܘܠܗ ܦܪܫ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܗ ܡܬܦܫܩ ܕܝܢ ܫܡܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܘܬܘܒ ܡܠܟ ܫܠܝܡ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܫܠܡܐ
wlh prsh 'brhm mesr' mn klmdm d'yth hw' emh mthpshq dyn shmh mlk' dk'nwth' wthwb mlk shlym d'ythwhy mlk' dshlm'
to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, “king of righteousness”, and then also “king of Salem”, which means “king of peace”;

ܕܠܐ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܡܗ ܐܬܟܬܒܘ ܒܫܪܒܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܪܝܫܝܬܐ ܕܝܘܡܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܫܘܠܡܐ ܕܚܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܐ ܒܕܡܘܬܐ ܕܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܩܘܝܐ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܗ ܠܥܠܡ
dl' 'bwhy wl' 'mh 'thkthbw bshrbth' wl' ryshyth' dywmwhy wl' shwlm' dkhywhy 'l' bdmwth' dbrh d'lh' mqwy' kwmrwthh lelm
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

ܚܙܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܡܐ ܪܒ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܪܝܫ ܐܒܗܬܐ ܠܗ ܝܗܒ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܕܪܫܝܬܐ
khzw dyn km' rb hn' d'brhm rysh 'bhth' lh yhb mesr' drshyth'
Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best plunder.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܒܢܝ ܠܘܝ ܕܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܢܣܒܘܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܚܝܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܚܨܗ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܢܦܩܘ
'ylyn gyr mn bny lwy dmqblyn hww kwmrwth' pwqdn' 'yth hw' lhwn dnmws' dnsbwn mesr' mn em' hnwn mn 'khyhwn kd 'p hnwn mn khtsh d'brhm npqw
They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܟܬܝܒ ܒܫܪܒܬܗܘܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܫܩܠ ܡܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܘܒܪܟܗ ܠܗܘ ܕܩܒܠ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ
hn' dyn dl' kthyb bshrbthhwn mesr' shql mn 'brhm wbrkh lhw dqbl mwlkn'
but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

ܕܠܐ ܚܪܝܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܒܨܝܪ ܡܬܒܪܟ ܡܢ ܗܘ ܕܡܝܬܪ ܡܢܗ
dl' khryn' dyn hw dbtsyr mthbrk mn hw dmythr mnh
But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

ܘܗܪܟܐ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܕܡܝܬܝܢ ܢܣܒܝܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܠܗܠ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܐܣܗܕ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܚܝ ܗܘ
whrk' bnynsh' dmythyn nsbyn mesr' lhl dyn hw d'shd elwhy kthb' dkhy hw
Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.

ܘܐܝܟ ܐܢܫ ܢܐܡܪ ܒܝܕ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܐܦ ܠܘܝ ܗܘ ܕܡܥܣܪܐ ܢܣܒ ܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܐܬܥܣܪ
w'yk 'nsh n'mr byd 'brhm 'p lwy hw dmesr' nsb hw' 'p hw 'thesr
We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,

ܥܕܟܝܠ ܓܝܪ ܒܚܨܗ ܗܘܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܐܪܥܗ ܠܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
edkyl gyr bkhtsh hw' d'bwhy kd 'reh lmlkyzdq
for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

ܐܠܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܓܡܝܪܘܬܐ ܒܝܕ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܕܠܘܝܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܘܬ ܕܒܗ ܣܝܡ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܥܡܐ ܠܡܢܐ ܡܬܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܢܩܘܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܐܡܪ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܐܗܪܘܢ ܢܗܘܐ
'lw hkyl gmyrwth' byd kwmrwth' dlwy' 'ythyh hwth dbh sym nmws' lem' lmn' mthbe' hw' kwmr' 'khrn' dnqwm bdmwthh dmlkyzdq 'mr dyn dbdmwthh d'hrwn nhw'
Now if there were perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܒܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܐܦ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ
'l' 'ykn' dhw' shwkhlp' bkwmrwth' hkn' hw' shwkhlp' 'p bnmws'
For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.

ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܬܐܡܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܘ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܐܬܝܠܕ ܕܐܢܫ ܡܡܬܘܡ ܡܢܗ ܠܐ ܫܡܫ ܒܡܕܒܚܐ
hw gyr d'th'mr elwhy hlyn mn shrbth' hw 'khrth' 'thyld d'nsh mmthwm mnh l' shmsh bmdbkh'
For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.

ܓܠܝܐ ܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܢܚ ܡܪܢ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܥܠܝܗ ܡܘܫܐ ܡܕܡ ܥܠ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ
gly' hy gyr dmn yhwd' dnkh mrn mn shrbth' dl' 'mr elyh mwsh' mdm el kwmrwth'
For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

ܘܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܬܘܒ ܝܕܝܥܐ ܒܗܝ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܩܐܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ
wythyr'yth thwb ydye' bhy d'mr dbdmwthh dmlkyzdq q'm kwmr' 'khrn'
This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,

ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܦܓܪܢܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܫܬܪܝܢ
hw dl' hw' bnmws' dpwqdn' pgrny' hw' 'l' bkhyl' dkhy' dl' mshthryn
who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

ܡܣܗܕ ܓܝܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
mshd gyr elwhy d'nth hw kwmr' lelm bdmwthh dmlkyzdq
for it is testified,
“You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.”

ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܗܘܐ ܠܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܚܝܠܘܬܗ ܘܕܝܘܬܪܢ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ
shwkhlp' dyn dhw' lpwqdn' qdmy' mTl mkhylwthh wdywthrn lyth hw' bh
For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

ܡܕܡ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܓܡܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܥܠ ܕܝܢ ܚܠܦܘܗܝ ܣܒܪܐ ܕܡܝܬܪ ܡܢܗ ܕܒܗ ܡܬܩܪܒܝܢܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ
mdm gyr l' gmr nmws' el dyn khlpwhy sbr' dmythr mnh dbh mthqrbynn l'lh'
(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

ܘܫܪܪܗ ܠܢ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ
wshrrh ln bmwmth'
Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath
21
ܗܢܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܐ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒܝܕ ܕܘܝܕ ܕܝܡܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܕܓܠ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
hnwn gyr dl' mwmth' hww kwmr' hn' dyn bmwmth' 'yk d'mr lh byd dwyd dym' mry' wl' ndgl d'nth hw kwmr' lelm bdmwthh dmlkyzdq
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him,
“The Lord swore and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.’”

ܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܡܝܬܪܐ ܕܝܬܩܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܥܪܒܐ ܝܫܘܥ
hn' klh mythr' dythq' hd' dhw' bh erb' yshwe
By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܝܬܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܬܒܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܢܩܘܘܢ
whnwn hww kwmr' sgy'' mTl dmythyn hww wl' mshthbqyn hww dnqwwn
Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
24
ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܩܝܡ ܠܐ ܥܒܪܐ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܗ
hn' dyn mTl dlelm qym l' ebr' kwmrwthh
But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
25
ܘܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܩܪܒܝܢ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܘܡܣܩ ܨܠܘܬܐ ܚܠܦܝܗܘܢ
wmshkkh lmkhyw lelm l'ylyn dmthqrbyn b'ydh l'lh' khy hw gyr bklzbn wmsq tslwth' khlpyhwn
Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

ܕܐܝܟ ܗܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܦ ܙܕܩ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܕܟܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܒܝܫܘ ܘܕܠܐ ܛܘܠܫܐ ܕܦܪܝܩ ܡܢ ܚܛܗܐ ܘܡܪܝܡ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ
d'yk hn' gyr kwmr' 'p zdq hw' ln dky' dl' byshw wdl' Twlsh' dpryq mn khTh' wmrym lel mn shmy'
For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

ܘܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܐܝܟ ܪܒܝ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܕܠܘܩܕܡ ܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܘܗܝ ܢܩܪܒ ܕܒܚܐ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܐ ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܒܕܗ ܚܕܐ ܙܒܢ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܕܩܪܒ
wlyth lh 'wltsn' klywm 'yk rby kwmr' dlwqdm khlp khThwhy nqrb dbkh' whydyn khlp em' hd' gyr ebdh khd' zbn bnpshh dqrb
who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.

ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܟܪܝܗܐ ܡܩܝܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܘܡܬܐ ܕܗܘܬ ܒܬܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܒܪܐ ܓܡܝܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ
nmws' gyr bnynsh' hw kryh' mqym kwmr' mlth' dyn dmwmth' dhwth bthr nmws' br' gmyr' lelm
For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
