ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܟ ܫܠܝܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝܡܐ ܘܗܘ ܐܪܥܗ ܠܐܒܪܗܡ ܟܕ ܗܦܟ ܡܢ ܚܪܒܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܒܪܟܗ
wbrkh dmlk' khrb' mn hpk kd l'brhm 'reh whw mrym' d'lh' kwmr' shlym mlk 'ythwhy mlkyzdq dyn hn'
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

ܘܠܗ ܦܪܫ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܗ ܡܬܦܫܩ ܕܝܢ ܫܡܗ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܘܬܘܒ ܡܠܟ ܫܠܝܡ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܫܠܡܐ
dshlm' mlk' d'ythwhy shlym mlk wthwb dk'nwth' mlk' shmh dyn mthpshq emh hw' d'yth klmdm mn mesr' 'brhm prsh wlh
to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, “king of righteousness”, and then also “king of Salem”, which means “king of peace”;

ܕܠܐ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܡܗ ܐܬܟܬܒܘ ܒܫܪܒܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܪܝܫܝܬܐ ܕܝܘܡܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܫܘܠܡܐ ܕܚܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܐ ܒܕܡܘܬܐ ܕܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܩܘܝܐ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܗ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm kwmrwthh mqwy' d'lh' dbrh bdmwth' 'l' dkhywhy shwlm' wl' dywmwhy ryshyth' wl' bshrbth' 'thkthbw 'mh wl' 'bwhy dl'
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

ܚܙܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܡܐ ܪܒ ܗܢܐ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܪܝܫ ܐܒܗܬܐ ܠܗ ܝܗܒ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܕܪܫܝܬܐ
drshyth' mesr' yhb lh 'bhth' rysh d'brhm hn' rb km' dyn khzw
Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best plunder.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܒܢܝ ܠܘܝ ܕܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܢܣܒܘܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܡܢ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܚܝܗܘܢ ܟܕ ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܚܨܗ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܢܦܩܘ
npqw d'brhm khtsh mn hnwn 'p kd 'khyhwn mn hnwn em' mn mesr' dnsbwn dnmws' lhwn hw' 'yth pwqdn' kwmrwth' hww dmqblyn lwy bny mn gyr 'ylyn
They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܟܬܝܒ ܒܫܪܒܬܗܘܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܫܩܠ ܡܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܘܒܪܟܗ ܠܗܘ ܕܩܒܠ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ
mwlkn' dqbl lhw wbrkh 'brhm mn shql mesr' bshrbthhwn kthyb dl' dyn hn'
but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

ܕܠܐ ܚܪܝܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܒܨܝܪ ܡܬܒܪܟ ܡܢ ܗܘ ܕܡܝܬܪ ܡܢܗ
mnh dmythr hw mn mthbrk dbtsyr hw dyn khryn' dl'
But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

ܘܗܪܟܐ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܕܡܝܬܝܢ ܢܣܒܝܢ ܡܥܣܪܐ ܠܗܠ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܐܣܗܕ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܚܝ ܗܘ
hw dkhy kthb' elwhy d'shd hw dyn lhl mesr' nsbyn dmythyn bnynsh' whrk'
Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.

ܘܐܝܟ ܐܢܫ ܢܐܡܪ ܒܝܕ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܐܦ ܠܘܝ ܗܘ ܕܡܥܣܪܐ ܢܣܒ ܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܐܬܥܣܪ
'thesr hw 'p hw' nsb dmesr' hw lwy 'p 'brhm byd n'mr 'nsh w'yk
We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,

ܥܕܟܝܠ ܓܝܪ ܒܚܨܗ ܗܘܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܐܪܥܗ ܠܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
lmlkyzdq 'reh kd d'bwhy hw' bkhtsh gyr edkyl
for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

ܐܠܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܓܡܝܪܘܬܐ ܒܝܕ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܕܠܘܝܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܘܬ ܕܒܗ ܣܝܡ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܥܡܐ ܠܡܢܐ ܡܬܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܢܩܘܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܐܡܪ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܐܗܪܘܢ ܢܗܘܐ
nhw' d'hrwn dbdmwthh dyn 'mr dmlkyzdq bdmwthh dnqwm 'khrn' kwmr' hw' mthbe' lmn' lem' nmws' sym dbh hwth 'ythyh dlwy' kwmrwth' byd gmyrwth' hkyl 'lw
Now if there were perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܒܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܐܦ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ
bnmws' 'p shwkhlp' hw' hkn' bkwmrwth' shwkhlp' dhw' 'ykn' 'l'
For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.

ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܬܐܡܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܘ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܐܬܝܠܕ ܕܐܢܫ ܡܡܬܘܡ ܡܢܗ ܠܐ ܫܡܫ ܒܡܕܒܚܐ
bmdbkh' shmsh l' mnh mmthwm d'nsh 'thyld 'khrth' hw shrbth' mn hlyn elwhy d'th'mr gyr hw
For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.

ܓܠܝܐ ܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܢܚ ܡܪܢ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܥܠܝܗ ܡܘܫܐ ܡܕܡ ܥܠ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܐ
kwmrwth' el mdm mwsh' elyh 'mr dl' shrbth' mn mrn dnkh yhwd' dmn gyr hy gly'
For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

ܘܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܬܘܒ ܝܕܝܥܐ ܒܗܝ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ ܩܐܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ
'khrn' kwmr' q'm dmlkyzdq dbdmwthh d'mr bhy ydye' thwb wythyr'yth
This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,

ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܦܓܪܢܝܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܫܬܪܝܢ
mshthryn dl' dkhy' bkhyl' 'l' hw' pgrny' dpwqdn' bnmws' hw' dl' hw
who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

ܡܣܗܕ ܓܝܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
dmlkyzdq bdmwthh lelm kwmr' hw d'nth elwhy gyr mshd
for it is testified,
“You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.”

ܫܘܚܠܦܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܗܘܐ ܠܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܚܝܠܘܬܗ ܘܕܝܘܬܪܢ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ
bh hw' lyth wdywthrn mkhylwthh mTl qdmy' lpwqdn' dhw' dyn shwkhlp'
For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

ܡܕܡ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܓܡܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܥܠ ܕܝܢ ܚܠܦܘܗܝ ܣܒܪܐ ܕܡܝܬܪ ܡܢܗ ܕܒܗ ܡܬܩܪܒܝܢܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ
l'lh' mthqrbynn dbh mnh dmythr sbr' khlpwhy dyn el nmws' gmr l' gyr mdm
(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

ܘܫܪܪܗ ܠܢ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ
bmwmth' ln wshrrh
Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath
21
ܗܢܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܐ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒܝܕ ܕܘܝܕ ܕܝܡܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܕܓܠ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܒܕܡܘܬܗ ܕܡܠܟܝܙܕܩ
dmlkyzdq bdmwthh lelm kwmr' hw d'nth ndgl wl' mry' dym' dwyd byd lh d'mr 'yk bmwmth' dyn hn' kwmr' hww mwmth' dl' gyr hnwn
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him,
“The Lord swore and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest forever,
according to the order of Melchizedek.’”

ܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܡܝܬܪܐ ܕܝܬܩܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܥܪܒܐ ܝܫܘܥ
yshwe erb' bh dhw' hd' dythq' mythr' klh hn'
By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܝܬܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܬܒܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܢܩܘܘܢ
dnqwwn hww mshthbqyn wl' hww dmythyn mTl sgy'' kwmr' hww whnwn
Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
24
ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܩܝܡ ܠܐ ܥܒܪܐ ܟܘܡܪܘܬܗ
kwmrwthh ebr' l' qym dlelm mTl dyn hn'
But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
25
ܘܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܩܪܒܝܢ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܚܝ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܘܡܣܩ ܨܠܘܬܐ ܚܠܦܝܗܘܢ
khlpyhwn tslwth' wmsq bklzbn gyr hw khy l'lh' b'ydh dmthqrbyn l'ylyn lelm lmkhyw wmshkkh
Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

ܕܐܝܟ ܗܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܐܦ ܙܕܩ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܕܟܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܒܝܫܘ ܘܕܠܐ ܛܘܠܫܐ ܕܦܪܝܩ ܡܢ ܚܛܗܐ ܘܡܪܝܡ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ
shmy' mn lel wmrym khTh' mn dpryq Twlsh' wdl' byshw dl' dky' ln hw' zdq 'p kwmr' gyr hn' d'yk
For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

ܘܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܐܝܟ ܪܒܝ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܕܠܘܩܕܡ ܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܘܗܝ ܢܩܪܒ ܕܒܚܐ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܚܠܦ ܥܡܐ ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܒܕܗ ܚܕܐ ܙܒܢ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܕܩܪܒ
dqrb bnpshh zbn khd' ebdh gyr hd' em' khlp whydyn dbkh' nqrb khThwhy khlp dlwqdm kwmr' rby 'yk klywm 'wltsn' lh wlyth
who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.

ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܟܪܝܗܐ ܡܩܝܡ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܘܡܬܐ ܕܗܘܬ ܒܬܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܒܪܐ ܓܡܝܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm gmyr' br' nmws' bthr dhwth dmwmth' dyn mlth' kwmr' mqym kryh' hw bnynsh' gyr nmws'
For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
