ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܛܠܢܝܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܕܛܒܬܐ ܕܥܬܝܕܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܩܢܘܡܐ ܕܝܠܗܝܢ ܕܨܒܘܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܟܕ ܒܟܠ ܫܢܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܟܕ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܒܚܐ ܡܬܩܪܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐ ܡܡܬܘܡ ܐܫܟܚܘ ܕܢܓܡܪܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܩܪܒܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn dmqrbyn l'ylyn dngmrwn 'shkkhw mmthwm l' hww mthqrbyn dbkh' hnwn kd hnwn shn' bkl kd hn' mTl dtsbwth' dylhyn qnwm' hw' l' dethydn dTbth' bh hw' 'yth Tlnyth' gyr nmws'
For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.

ܐܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܓܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܒܪ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܬܢܝܚܘ ܡܢ ܩܘܪܒܢܝܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܛܪܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܐܪܬܗܘܢ ܒܚܛܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܚܕܐ ܙܒܢ ܐܬܕܟܝܘ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn 'thdkyw zbn dkhd' l'ylyn bkhTh' th'rthhwn lhwn hwth Try' mkyl dl' mTl qwrbnyhwn mn 'ththnykhw dyn kbr hww gmryn gyr 'lw
Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?

ܐܠܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܒܕܒܚܐ ܡܕܟܪܝܢ ܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ ܒܟܠ ܫܢܐ
shn' bkl khThyhwn mdkryn bdbkh' bhwn 'l'
But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.

ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܡܐ ܕܬܘܪܐ ܘܕܨܦܪܝܐ ܠܡܕܟܝܘ ܚܛܗܐ
khTh' lmdkyw wdtspry' dthwr' dm' mshkkh gyr l'
For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܟܕ ܥܐܠ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܐܡܪ ܒܕܒܚܐ ܘܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܠܐ ܨܒܝܬ ܦܓܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܠܒܫܬܢܝ
'lbshthny dyn pgr' tsbyth l' wqwrbn' bdbkh' 'mr lelm' e'l kd hn' mTl
Therefore when he comes into the world, he says,
“Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire,
but you prepared a body for me.

ܘܝܩܕܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܕܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܐ ܠܐ ܫܐܠܬ
sh'lth l' khTh' dkhlp shlm' wyqd'
You had no pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܒܪܝܫ ܟܬܒܐ ܟܬܝܒ ܥܠܝ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܨܒܝܢܟ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' tsbynk d'ebd ely kthyb kthb' dbrysh 'n' 'th' 'n' dh' 'mrth hydyn
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me)
to do your will, O God.’”

ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܐܡܪ ܕܕܒܚܐ ܘܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܝܩܕܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܕܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܐ ܠܐ ܨܒܝܬ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܡܬܩܪܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ
bnmws' hww dmthqrbyn hnwn tsbyth l' khTh' dkhlp shlm' wyqd' wqwrbn' ddbkh' 'mr lel mn
Previously saying, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law),

ܘܒܬܪܗ ܐܡܪ ܕܗܐ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܨܒܝܢܟ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܗܕܐ ܒܛܠ ܠܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܕܢܩܝܡ ܠܕܬܪܬܝܢ
ldthrthyn dnqym lqdmyth' bTl bhd' 'lh' tsbynk d'ebd 'n' 'th' dh' 'mr wbthrh
then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,

ܒܗܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܐܬܩܕܫܢ ܒܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܦܓܪܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܚܕܐ ܙܒܢ
zbn dkhd' mshykh' dyshwe dpgrh bqwrbn' 'thqdshn tsbynh gyr bhn'
by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

ܟܠ ܪܒ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܩܐܡ ܗܘܐ ܘܡܫܡܫ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܗܢܘܢ ܒܗܢܘܢ ܕܒܚܐ ܡܩܪܒ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܡܬܘܡ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܕܟܝܘ ܚܛܗܐ
khTh' lmdkyw hww mshkkhyn l' mthwm dmn 'ylyn hw' mqrb dbkh' bhnwn hnwn klywm wmshmsh hw' dq'm gyr kwmr' rb kl
Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,

ܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܕ ܕܒܚܐ ܩܪܒ ܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܐ ܘܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܝܡܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm d'lh' ymyn' el wythb khTh' khlp qrb dbkh' khd dyn hn'
but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

ܘܡܩܘܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܬܬܣܝܡܘܢ ܒܥܠܕܒܒܘܗܝ ܟܘܒܫܐ ܬܚܝܬ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ
rglwhy thkhyth kwbsh' beldbbwhy dnththsymwn edm' mkyl wmqw'
from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.

ܒܚܕ ܓܝܪ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܓܡܪ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܩܕܫܝܢ ܒܗ ܠܥܠܡ
lelm bh dmthqdshyn l'ylyn gmr qwrbn' gyr bkhd
For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

ܣܗܕܐ ܠܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܕܐܡܪܬ
d'mrth dqwdsh' rwkh' 'p dyn ln shd'
The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܐܬܠ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܬܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܢܡܘܣܝ ܒܡܕܥܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܠܒܘܬܗܘܢ ܐܟܬܒܝܘܗܝ
'kthbywhy lbwthhwn wel bmdeyhwn lnmwsy 'thlywhy mry' 'mr hnwn ywmth' bthr mn lhwn d'thl dythq' hy hd'
“This is the covenant that I will make with them:
‘After those days,’ says the Lord,
‘I will put my laws on their heart,
I will also write them on their mind;’”
then he says,

ܘܥܘܠܗܘܢ ܘܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܬܕܟܪ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn 'thdkr l' wkhThyhwn wewlhwn
“I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.”

ܐܝܟܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܫܘܒܩܢܐ ܕܚܛܗܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܒܥܐ ܩܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܐ
khTh' dkhlp qwrbn' mthbe' l' dkhTh' shwbqn' d'yth dyn 'yk'
Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܚܝ ܓܠܝܘܬ ܐܦܐ ܒܡܥܠܢܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܒܕܡܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ
dyshwe bdmh qwdsh' dbyth bmeln' 'p' glywth 'khy hkyl ln 'yth
Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

ܘܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܕܚܕܬ ܠܢ ܗܫܐ ܒܐܦܝ ܬܪܥܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܣܪܗ
bsrh d'ythwhy thre' b'py hsh' ln dkhdth dkhy' w'wrkh'
by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

ܘܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܪܒܐ ܥܠ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' bythh el rb' kwmr' ln w'yth
and having a great priest over God’s house,
22
ܢܩܪܘܒ ܗܟܝܠ ܒܠܒܐ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܘܒܬܘܟܠܢܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܟܕ ܪܣܝܣܝܢ ܠܒܘܬܢ ܘܕܟܝܢ ܡܢ ܬܐܪܬܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܡܣܚܝ ܦܓܪܢ ܒܡܝܐ ܕܟܝܐ
dky' bmy' pgrn wmskhy byshth' th'rth' mn wdkyn lbwthn rsysyn kd dhymnwth' wbthwkln' shryr' blb' hkyl nqrwb
let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

ܘܢܚܡܣܢ ܒܬܘܕܝܬܐ ܕܣܒܪܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܨܛܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܕܡܠܟ ܠܢ
ln dmlk mn gyr hw mhymn ntsTl' wl' dsbrn bthwdyth' wnkhmsn
let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

ܘܢܚܘܪ ܚܕ ܒܚܕ ܒܓܘܪܓܐ ܕܚܘܒܐ ܘܕܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ
Tb' wdebd' dkhwb' bgwrg' bkhd khd wnkhwr
Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,

ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܒܩܝܢ ܟܢܘܫܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܝܬ ܥܝܕܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܐܠܐ ܒܥܘ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܚܕ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܟܡܐ ܕܚܙܝܬܘܢ ܕܩܪܒ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ
hw ywm' dqrb dkhzythwn km' ythyr'yth khd mn khd bew 'l' 'nsh l'nsh eyd' d'yth 'yk knwshyn shbqyn nhw' wl'
not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܒܨܒܝܢܗ ܢܚܛܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܩܒܠ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܠܝܬ ܡܟܝܠ ܕܒܚܬܐ ܕܬܬܩܪܒ ܚܠܦ ܚܛܗܐ
khTh' khlp dththqrb dbkhth' mkyl lyth dshrr' ydeth' dqbl bthr mn 'nsh nkhT' btsbynh gyr 'n
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,

ܐܠܐ ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܘܛܢܢܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܕܐܟܠ ܠܒܥܠܕܒܒܐ
lbeldbb' d'kl dnwr' wTnn' dkhyl' dyn' hw ethyd 'l'
but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.

ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܥܒܪ ܥܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܡܘܫܐ ܥܠ ܦܘܡ ܬܪܝܢ ܘܬܠܬܐ ܣܗܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܪܚܡܝܢ ܡܐܬ
m'th rkhmyn dl' shdyn wthlth' thryn pwm el dmwsh' nmws' el debr 'yn' gyr 'n
A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.

ܟܡܐ ܣܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܡܣܡ ܒܪܫܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܕܫܗ ܠܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܚܫܒ ܕܡܐ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܕܝܠܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܠܢܫ ܕܒܗ ܐܬܩܕܫ ܘܨܥܪ ܠܪܘܚܐ ܕܛܝܒܘܬܐ
dTybwth' lrwkh' wtser 'thqdsh dbh dklnsh 'yk dylh ddythq' dm' wkhshb d'lh' lbrh ddshh 'yn' nqbl brsh' msm ythyr'yth 'nthwn sbryn km'
How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܕܝܠܝ ܗܝ ܬܒܥܬܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܦܪܘܥ ܘܬܘܒ ܕܢܕܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܥܡܗ
lemh mry' dndwn wthwb 'prwe w'n' thbeth' hy ddyly d'mr lhw ydeynn
For we know him who said, “Vengeance belongs to me,” says the Lord, “I will repay.” Again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

ܕܚܠܬܐ ܗܝ ܪܒܬܐ ܠܡܦܠ ܒܐܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ
khy' d'lh' b'ydwhy lmpl rbth' hy dkhlth'
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

ܐܬܕܟܪܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܝܘܡܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܒܗܘܢ ܩܒܠܬܘܢ ܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ܘܐܓܘܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܣܝܒܪܬܘܢ ܕܚܫܐ ܒܚܣܕܐ ܘܒܐܘܠܨܢܐ
wb'wltsn' bkhsd' dkhsh' sybrthwn rb' w'gwn' memwdyth' qblthwn dbhwn hnwn qdmy' lywmth' hkyl 'thdkrw
But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;

ܘܕܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܚܙܘܢܐ ܘܐܦ ܐܫܬܘܬܦܬܘܢ ܠܐܢܫܐ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܣܝܒܪܘ
sybrw dhlyn l'nsh' 'shthwthpthwn w'p khzwn' wdhwythwn
partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions; and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.

ܘܟܐܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܣܝܪܝܢ ܘܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܕܢܟܣܝܟܘܢ ܒܚܕܘܬܐ ܣܝܒܪܬܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܩܢܝܢܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܕܡܝܬܪ ܗܘ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܪ
ebr wl' hw dmythr bshmy' qnyn' lkwn d'yth 'nthwn dydeyn mTl sybrthwn bkhdwth' dnksykwn wkhTwpy' d'syryn 'ylyn el lkwn wk'b
For you both had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.

ܠܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܬܘܒܕܘܢ ܓܠܝܘܬ ܐܦܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܠܗ ܐܓܪܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' 'gr' lh dethyd lkwn d'yth 'p' glywth thwbdwn hkyl l'
Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

ܡܣܝܒܪܢܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܡܬܒܥܝܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܬܣܒܘܢ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ
mwlkn' wthsbwn d'lh' tsbyn' dthebdwn lkwn mthbey' gyr hw msybrnwth'
For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
37
ܡܛܠ ܕܩܠܝܠ ܗܘ ܙܒܢܐ ܘܛܒ ܙܥܘܪ ܕܢܐܬܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܘܚܪ
nwkhr wl' d'th' hw dn'th' zewr wTb zbn' hw dqlyl mTl
“In a very little while,
he who comes will come, and will not wait.

ܟܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܢܚܐ ܘܐܢ ܡܬܩܛܥܐ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܨܒܝܐ ܒܗ ܢܦܫܝ
npshy bh tsby' l' lh mthqTe' w'n nkh' dyly hymnwth' mn dyn k'n'
But the righteous will live by faith.
If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”
