ܘܒܝܪܚܐ ܫܒܝܥܝܐ ܒܚܕ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܝܕ ܚܓܝ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

ܐܡܪ ܠܙܘܪܒܒܠ ܒܪ ܫܠܬܐܝܠ ܪܒܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܠܝܫܘܥ ܒܪ ܝܘܙܕܩ ܟܗܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܠܟܠܗ ܫܪܟܗ ܕܥܡܐ

“Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

ܡܢܘ ܐܫܬܚܪ ܒܟܘܢ ܕܚܙܝܗܝ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܒܫܘܒܚܗ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܘܗܫܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܚܙܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܚܫܝܒ ܒܥܝ̈ܢܝܟܘܢ

‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

ܡܟܝܠ ܐܬܚܝܠ ܙܘܪܒܒܠ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܬܚܝܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪ ܝܘܙܕܩ ܟܗܢܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܐܬܚܝܠܘ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܢܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ

Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

ܦܬܓܡܐ ܕܐܩܝܡܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܟܕ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܨܪܝܢ ܪܘܚܝ ܩܝܡܐ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ
thdkhlwn l' bynthkwn qym' rwkhy mtsryn mn npqthwn kd emkwn d'qymth pthgm'
This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

ܡܛܠ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܚܕܐ ܙܒܢ ܡܙܝܥ ܐܢܐ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܘܝܡܐ ܘܝܒܫܐ
wybsh' wym' w're' shmy' 'n' mzye zbn khd' thwb khylthn' mry' 'mr dhkn' mTl
For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once more, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

ܘܐܙܝܥ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܢܝܬܘܢ ܪܓܬܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܐܡܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܫܘܒܚܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
khylthn' mry' 'mr shwbkh' hn' lbyth' w'mlywhy emm' dklhwn rgth' wnythwn emm' lklhwn w'zye
and I will shake all nations. The treasure of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

ܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܣܐܡܐ ܘܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܕܗܒܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
khylthn' mry' 'mr dhb' hw wdyly s'm' hw dyly
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܪܒ ܫܘܒܚܗ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܐܚܪܝܐ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܘܒܐܬܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܠ ܫܠܡܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
khylthn' mry' 'mr shlmy 'thl hn' wb'thr' khylthn' mry' 'mr qdmy' mn Tb 'khry' hn' dbyth' shwbkhh rb wnhw'
‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

ܘܒܐܪ̈ܒܥܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܬܫܝܥܝܐ ܒܫܢܬ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܕܕܪܝܘܫ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܝܕ ܚܓܝ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܫܐܠܘ ܥܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܢ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ

“Yahweh of Armies says: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

ܐܢ ܫܩܠ ܓܒܪܐ ܒܣܪܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܒܟܢܦܐ ܕܡܪܛܘܛܗ ܘܩܪܒ ܒܟܢܦܗ ܠܠܚܡܐ ܘܠܒܘܫܠܐ ܘܠܚܡܪܐ ܘܠܡܫܚܐ ܘܠܟܘܠ ܡܐܟܠܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܡܬܩܕܫ ܥܢܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐ

‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

ܐܡܪ ܚܓܝ ܐܢ ܩܪܒ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܛܡܐܐ ܢܦܫܗ ܠܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܠܐ ܡܣܬܝܒ ܥܢܘ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܣܬܝܒ
msthyb lh w'mryn khn' enw msthyb l' klhyn lhlyn npshh dTm'' 'yn' qrb 'n khgy 'mr
Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

ܥܢܐ ܚܓܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘ ܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܗܝ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܩܕܡܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܐ ܕܐ̈ܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܡܩܪܒܝܢ ܬܡܢ ܡܣܝܒ ܗܘ
hw msyb thmn dmqrbyn wmdm d'ydyhwn ebd' klhwn 'nwn whkn' mry' 'mr qdmy hd' shrbth' hy whkn' hn' em' hw hkn' w'mr khgy en'
Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

ܡܟܝܠ ܣܝܡܘ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܠܗܠ ܥܕܠܐ ܐܬܬܣܝܡܬ ܟܐܦܐ ܥܠ ܟܐܦܐ ܒܗܝܟܠܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' bhyklh k'p' el k'p' 'ththsymth edl' wlhl hn' ywm' mn lbkwn symw mkyl
Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

ܟܕ ܥܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܟܪܝܐ ܕܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܗܘܐ ܥܣܪܐ ܘܥܐܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܡܥܨܪܬܐ ܕܚܡܫܝܢ ܘܗܘܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ
esryn lhwn whwyn dkhmshyn metsrth' el 'nthwn we'lyn esr' whw' desryn kry' el hwythwn e'lyn kd
Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

ܡܚܝܬܟܘܢ ܒܫܘܒܐ ܘܒܝܪܩܢܐ ܘܒܒܪܕܐ ܠܟܠܗ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܐ̈ܝܕܝܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܦܢܝܬܘܢ ܠܘܬܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr lwthy 'thpnythwn wl' d'ydykwn ebd' lklh wbbrd' wbyrqn' bshwb' mkhythkwn
I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

ܡܟܝܠ ܫܥܒܕܘ ܠܒܘܬ̈ܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܠܗܠ ܡܢ ܝܘܡ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܬܫܥܐ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܬܣܝܡܬ ܫܬܐܣܬܐ ܕܗܝܟܠܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܣܝܡܘ ܠܒܟܘܢ
lbkwn symw dmry' dhyklh shth'sth' d'ththsymth ywm' mn dthshe' byrkh' wesryn 'rbe' ywm mn wlhl hn' ywm' mn lbwthkwn shebdw mkyl
‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

ܕܠܝܬ ܙܪܥܐ ܒܐܕܪܐ ܘܓܦܬܐ ܘܬܬܐ ܘܪ̈ܘܡܢܐ ܘܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܙܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܛܥܢܘ ܘܡܢ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܒܪܟ ܐܢܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr lhwn 'n' brk ywmn' wmn Tenw l' dzyth' w'yln' wrwmn' wthth' wgpth' b'dr' zre' dlyth
Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t produced. From today I will bless you.’”

ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܚܓܝ ܕܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܙܒ̈ܢܝܢ ܒܐܪ̈ܒܥܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ
lm'mr byrkh' wesryn b'rbe' zbnyn dthrthyn khgy el dmry' pthgmh whw'
Yahweh’s word came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

ܐܡܪ ܠܙܘܪܒܒܠ ܪܒܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܙܝܥ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܪܥܐ

“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

ܘܐܗܦܟ ܟܘܪܣܝܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܐܘܒܕ ܥܘܫܢܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܐܗܦܟ ܡܪ̈ܟܒܬܐ ܥܠ ܪ̈ܟܒܝܗܝܢ ܘܢܦܠܘܢ ܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܘܪ̈ܟܒܝܗܘܢ ܓܒܪ ܒܣܦܣܪܐ ܕܐܚܘܗܝ
d'khwhy bspsr' gbr wrkbyhwn rksh' wnplwn rkbyhyn el mrkbth' w'hpk demm' dmlkwth' ewshn' w'wbd dmlkwth' kwrsy' w'hpk
I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

ܒܗ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܣܒܟ ܙܘܪܒܒܠ ܒܪ ܫܠܬܐܝܠ ܥܒܕܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܣܝܡܟ ܐܝܟ ܚܬܡܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܟ ܓܒܝܬ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
khylthn' mry' 'mr gbyth dlk mTl khthm' 'yk w'symk mry' 'mr ebdy shlth'yl br zwrbbl 'sbk khylthn' mry' 'mr hw bywm' bh
In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, I will take you, Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”
