בשביעאה בעסרין וחד לירחא הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי ביד חגי נביא למימר:
lmymr nbya khgy byd yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh lyrkha wkhd besryn bshbyeah
In the seventh month, in the twenty-first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

אמר כען לזרבבל בר שאלתיאל רבא דבית יהודה וליהושע בר יהוצדק כהנא רבא ולשארא דעמא למימר:
lmymr dema wlshara rba khna yhwtsdq br wlyhwshe yhwdh dbyth rba shalthyal br lzrbbl ken amr
“Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

מן בכון דישתאר דחזא ית ביתא הדין ביקריה קדמאה ומה אתון חזן יתיה כען הלא כדליתוהי כן הוא בעיניכון:
beynykwn hwa kn kdlythwhy hla ken ythyh khzn athwn wmh qdmah byqryh hdyn bytha yth dkhza dyshthar bkwn mn
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?

וכען תקיף זרבבל אמר יי ותקיף יהושע בר יהוצדק כהנא רבא ותקיף כל עמא דארעא אמר יי ועבידו ארי מימרי בסעדכון אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr bsedkwn mymry ary webydw yy amr darea ema kl wthqyp rba khna yhwtsdq br yhwshe wthqyp yy amr zrbbl thqyp wken
Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh, ‘and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

ית פתגמא די גזרית עמכון במפקכון ממצרים ונביאי מלפין ביניכון לא תדחלון:
thdkhlwn la bynykwn mlpyn wnbyay mmtsrym bmpqkwn emkwn gzryth dy pthgma yth
This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. ‘Don’t be afraid.’

ארי כדנן אמר יי צבאות עוד חדא זעירא היא ואנא מזיע ית שמיא וית ארעא וית ימא וית יבשתא:
ybshtha wyth yma wyth area wyth shmya yth mzye wana hya zeyra khda ewd tsbawth yy amr kdnn ary
For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Yet once more, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;

ואזיע ית כל עממיא וייתון חמדת כל עממיא ואמלי ית ביתא הדין יקרא אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr yqra hdyn bytha yth wamly emmya kl khmdth wyythwn emmya kl yth wazye
and I will shake all nations. The treasure of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.

דילי כספא ודילי דהבא אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr dhba wdyly kspa dyly
The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

סגי יהא יקריה דביתא הדין בתראה מן קדמאה אמר יי צבאות ובאתרא הדין אתן שלמא אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr shlma athn hdyn wbathra tsbawth yy amr qdmah mn bthrah hdyn dbytha yqryh yha sgy
‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies; ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”

בעסרין וארבעא לתשיעאה בשנת תרתין לדריוש הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי ביד חגי נביא למימר:
lmymr nbya khgy byd yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh ldrywsh thrthyn bshnth lthshyeah warbea besryn
In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

כדנן אמר יי צבאות שאיל כען ית כהניא אוריתא למימר:
lmymr awrytha khnya yth ken shayl tsbawth yy amr kdnn
“Yahweh of Armies says: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

הא יטול גבר בסר קודשא בכנף לבושיה ויקריב בכסותיה ללחמא ולתבשילא ולחמרא ולמשחא וכל דמתאכיל היסתאב ואתיבו כהניא ואמרו לא:
la wamrw khnya wathybw hysthab dmthakyl wkl wlmshkha wlkhmra wlthbshyla llkhma bkswthyh wyqryb lbwshyh bknp qwdsha bsr gbr yTwl ha
‘If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered, “No.”

ואמר חגי אם יקריב טמא נפשא בכל אלין היסתאב ואתיבו כהניא ואמרו יסתאב:
ysthab wamrw khnya wathybw hysthab alyn bkl npsha Tma yqryb am khgy wamr
Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered, “It will be unclean.”

ואתיב חגי ואמר כן עמא הדין וכן כנשתא הדא קדמי אמר יי וכן כל עובדי ידיהון ודיקרבון תמן מסאב הוא:
hwa msab thmn wdyqrbwn ydyhwn ewbdy kl wkn yy amr qdmy hda knshtha wkn hdyn ema kn wamr khgy wathyb
Then Haggai answered, “‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

וכען שוו כען לבכון מן יומא הדין ולעילא עד לא יתשם נדבך על נדבך בהיכלא דיי:
dyy bhykla ndbk el ndbk ythshm la ed wleyla hdyn ywma mn lbkwn ken shww wken
Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

מדהויתון עלין לערימת עסרין והויא עסרא עלין אתון למעצרתא דבה חמשין גרבין דחמר והויא עסרין:
esryn whwya dkhmr grbyn khmshyn dbh lmetsrtha athwn elyn esra whwya esryn lerymth elyn mdhwythwn
Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.

מחיתי יתכון בשידפונא ובירקונא ובברדא ית כל עובדי ידיכון וליתיכון תיבין לפולחני אמר יי:
yy amr lpwlkhny thybyn wlythykwn ydykwn ewbdy kl yth wbbrda wbyrqwna bshydpwna ythkwn mkhythy
I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.

שוו כען לבכון מן יומא הדין ולעילא מיום עסרין וארבעא לתשיעאה למן יומא דישרי לאשתכללא היכלא דיי שוו לבכון:
lbkwn shww dyy hykla lashthklla dyshry ywma lmn lthshyeah warbea esryn mywm wleyla hdyn ywma mn lbkwn ken shww
‘Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.

העוד כען עבורא באידרא ועד כען גופניא ותיניא ורימוניא ואילני זיתא לא טענו יומא הדין אברך:
abrk hdyn ywma Tenw la zytha waylny wrymwnya wthynya gwpnya ken wed baydra ebwra ken hewd
Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t produced. From today I will bless you.’”

והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי תנינות עם חגי בעסרין וארבעא לירחא למימר:
lmymr lyrkha warbea besryn khgy em thnynwth yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh
Yahweh’s word came the second time to Haggai in the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,

אמר לזרבבל רבא דבית יהודה למימר אנא מזיע ית שמיא וית ארעא:
area wyth shmya yth mzye ana lmymr yhwdh dbyth rba lzrbbl amr
“Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, ‘I will shake the heavens and the earth.

ואהפוך כורסי מלכותא ואתבר תוקף מלכות עממיא ואהפוך רתיכין ורכביהון ויתקטלון סוסון ורכביהון גבר בחרבא דאחוהי:
dakhwhy bkhrba gbr wrkbyhwn swswn wythqTlwn wrkbyhwn rthykyn wahpwk emmya mlkwth thwqp wathbr mlkwtha kwrsy wahpwk
I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them. The horses and their riders will come down, everyone by the sword of his brother.

בעדנא ההיא אמר יי צבאות אקרבינך זרבבל בר שאלתיאל עבדי אמר יי ואשרינך כגלוף דעזקא על יד ארי בך אתרעיתי אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr athreythy bk ary yd el dezqa kglwp washrynk yy amr ebdy shalthyal br zrbbl aqrbynk tsbawth yy amr hhya bedna
In that day, says Yahweh of Armies, I will take you, Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says Yahweh, ‘and will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”
