ואתא יוסף וחוי לפרעה ואמר אבא ואחי וענהון ותורהון וכל די להון אתו מארעא דכנען והא אנון בארעא דגשן:
dgshn barea anwn wha dknen marea athw lhwn dy wkl wthwrhwn wenhwn wakhy aba wamr lpreh wkhwy ywsp watha
Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh, and said, “My father and my brothers, with their flocks, their herds, and all that they own, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.”

ומקצת מן אחוהי דבר חמשא גברין ואקימנון קדם פרעה:
preh qdm waqymnwn gbryn khmsha dbr akhwhy mn wmqtsth
From among his brothers he took five men, and presented them to Pharaoh.

ואמר פרעה לאחוהי מה עובדיכון ואמרו לפרעה רעי ענא עבדיך אף אנחנא אף אבהתנא:
abhthna ap ankhna ap ebdyk ena rey lpreh wamrw ewbdykwn mh lakhwhy preh wamr
Pharaoh said to his brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said to Pharaoh, “Your servants are shepherds, both we, and our fathers.”

ואמרו לות פרעה לאתותבא בארעא אתינא ארי לית רעיא לענא די לעבדיך ארי תקיף כפנא בארעא דכנען וכען יתבון כען עבדיך בארעא דגשן:
dgshn barea ebdyk ken ythbwn wken dknen barea kpna thqyp ary lebdyk dy lena reya lyth ary athyna barea lathwthba preh lwth wamrw
They also said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live as foreigners in the land, for there is no pasture for your servants’ flocks. For the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”

ואמר פרעה ליוסף למימר אבוך ואחיך אתו לותך:
lwthk athw wakhyk abwk lmymr lywsp preh wamr
Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, “Your father and your brothers have come to you.

ארעא דמצרים קדמך היא בדשפיר בארעא אותיב ית אבוך וית אחיך יתבון בארעא דגשן ואם ידעת ואית בהון גברין דחילא ותמננון רבני גיתי על די לי:
ly dy el gythy rbny wthmnnwn dkhyla gbryn bhwn wayth ydeth wam dgshn barea ythbwn akhyk wyth abwk yth awthyb barea bdshpyr hya qdmk dmtsrym area
The land of Egypt is before you. Make your father and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Let them dwell in the land of Goshen. If you know any able men among them, then put them in charge of my livestock.”

ואיתי יוסף ית יעקב אבוהי ואקימניה קדם פרעה ובריך יעקב ית פרעה:
preh yth yeqb wbryk preh qdm waqymnyh abwhy yeqb yth ywsp waythy
Joseph brought in Jacob, his father, and set him before Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

ואמר פרעה ליעקב כמה יומי שני חיך:
khyk shny ywmy kmh lyeqb preh wamr
Pharaoh said to Jacob, “How old are you?”

ואמר יעקב לפרעה יומי שני תותבותי מאה ותלתין שנין זעירין ובישין הוו יומי שני חיי ולא אדביקו ית יומי שני חיי אבהתי ביומי תותבותהון:
thwthbwthhwn bywmy abhthy khyy shny ywmy yth adbyqw wla khyy shny ywmy hww wbyshyn zeyryn shnyn wthlthyn mah thwthbwthy shny ywmy lpreh yeqb wamr
Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The years of my pilgrimage are one hundred thirty years. The days of the years of my life have been few and evil. They have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”

ובריך יעקב ית פרעה ונפק מן קדם פרעה:
preh qdm mn wnpq preh yth yeqb wbryk
Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from the presence of Pharaoh.

ואותיב יוסף ית אבוהי וית אחוהי ויהב להון אחסנא בארעא דמצרים בדשפיר בארעא בארעא דרעמסס כמא די פקיד פרעה:
preh pqyd dy kma dremss barea barea bdshpyr dmtsrym barea akhsna lhwn wyhb akhwhy wyth abwhy yth ywsp wawthyb
Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

וזן יוסף ית אבוהי וית אחוהי וית כל בית אבוהי לחמא לפום טפלא:
Tpla lpwm lkhma abwhy byth kl wyth akhwhy wyth abwhy yth ywsp wzn
Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all of his father’s household with bread, according to the sizes of their families.

ולחמא לית בכל ארעא ארי תקיף כפנא לחדא ואשתלהי עמא דארעא דמצרים ועמא דארעא דכנען מן קדם כפנא:
kpna qdm mn dknen darea wema dmtsrym darea ema washthlhy lkhda kpna thqyp ary area bkl lyth wlkhma
There was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

ולקיט יוסף ית כל כספא דאשתכח בארעא דמצרים ובארעא דכנען בעיבורא די אנון זבנין ואיתי יוסף ית כספא לבית פרעה:
preh lbyth kspa yth ywsp waythy zbnyn anwn dy beybwra dknen wbarea dmtsrym barea dashthkkh kspa kl yth ywsp wlqyT
Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

ושלים כספא מארעא דמצרים ומארעא דכנען ואתו כל מצראי לות יוסף למימר הב לנא לחמא ולמה נמות לקבלך ארי שלים כספא:
kspa shlym ary lqblk nmwth wlmh lkhma lna hb lmymr ywsp lwth mtsray kl wathw dknen wmarea dmtsrym marea kspa wshlym
When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, “Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For our money fails.”

ואמר יוסף הבו גיתיכון ואתן לכון בגיתיכון אם שלים כספא:
kspa shlym am bgythykwn lkwn wathn gythykwn hbw ywsp wamr
Joseph said, “Give me your livestock; and I will give you food for your livestock, if your money is gone.”
17
ואיתיו ית גיתיהון לות יוסף ויהב להון יוסף לחמא בסוסותא ובגיתי ענא ובגיתי תורין ובחמרין וזננון בלחמא בכל גיתיהון בשתא ההיא:
hhya bshtha gythyhwn bkl blkhma wznnwn wbkhmryn thwryn wbgythy ena wbgythy bswswtha lkhma ywsp lhwn wyhb ywsp lwth gythyhwn yth waythyw
They brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, and for the flocks, and for the herds, and for the donkeys: and he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock for that year.

ושלימת שתא ההיא ואתו לותיה בשתא תניתא ואמרו ליה לא נכסי מן רבוני אלהין שלים כספא וגיתי בעירא לות רבוני לא אשתאר קדם רבוני אלהין גויתנא וארענא:
warena gwythna alhyn rbwny qdm ashthar la rbwny lwth beyra wgythy kspa shlym alhyn rbwny mn nksy la lyh wamrw thnytha bshtha lwthyh wathw hhya shtha wshlymth
When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, “We will not hide from my lord how our money is all spent, and the herds of livestock are my lord’s. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands.

למה נמות לעיניך אף אנחנא אף ארעתנא קני יתנא וית ארעתנא בלחמא ונהי אנחנא וארעתנא עבדין לפרעה והב בר זרעא וניחי ולא נמות וארעא לא תבור:
thbwr la warea nmwth wla wnykhy zrea br whb lpreh ebdyn warethna ankhna wnhy blkhma arethna wyth ythna qny arethna ap ankhna ap leynyk nmwth lmh
Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh. Give us seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land won’t be desolate.”

וקנא יוסף ית כל ארעא דמצרים לפרעה ארי זבינו מצרים גבר חקליה ארי תקיף עליהון כפנא והות ארעא לפרעה:
lpreh area whwth kpna elyhwn thqyp ary khqlyh gbr mtsrym zbynw ary lpreh dmtsrym area kl yth ywsp wqna
So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe on them, and the land became Pharaoh’s.

וית עמא אעבר יתיה מקרי לקרי מסיפי תחום מצרים ועד סופיה:
swpyh wed mtsrym thkhwm msypy lqry mqry ythyh aebr ema wyth
As for the people, he moved them to the cities from one end of the border of Egypt even to the other end of it.
22
לחוד ארעא דכמריא לא זבין ארי חלקא לכמריא מלות פרעה ואכלין ית חלקהון דיהב להון פרעה על כן לא זבינו ית ארעהון:
arehwn yth zbynw la kn el preh lhwn dyhb khlqhwn yth waklyn preh mlwth lkmrya khlqa ary zbyn la dkmrya area lkhwd
Only he didn’t buy the land of the priests, for the priests had a portion from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them. That is why they didn’t sell their land.

ואמר יוסף לעמא הא זבנית יתכון יומא דין וית ארעכון לפרעה הא לכון בר זרעא ותזרעון ית ארעא:
area yth wthzrewn zrea br lkwn ha lpreh arekwn wyth dyn ywma ythkwn zbnyth ha lema ywsp wamr
Then Joseph said to the people, “Behold, I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.

ויהי באעולי עללתא ותתנון חד מן חמשא לפרעה וארבע חלקין יהא לכון לבר זרע חקלא ולמיכלכון ולאנש בבתיכון ולמיכל לטפלכון:
lTplkwn wlmykl bbthykwn wlansh wlmyklkwn khqla zre lbr lkwn yha khlqyn warbe lpreh khmsha mn khd wththnwn elltha baewly wyhy
It will happen at the harvests, that you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four parts will be your own, for seed of the field, for your food, for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.”

ואמרו קימתנא נשכח רחמין בעיני רבוני ונהי עבדין לפרעה:
lpreh ebdyn wnhy rbwny beyny rkhmyn nshkkh qymthna wamrw
They said, “You have saved our lives! Let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”

ושוי יתה יוסף לגזרא עד יומא הדין על ארעא דמצרים דיהון יהבין חד מן חמשא לפרעה לחוד ארעא דכמריא בלחודהון לא הות לפרעה:
lpreh hwth la blkhwdhwn dkmrya area lkhwd lpreh khmsha mn khd yhbyn dyhwn dmtsrym area el hdyn ywma ed lgzra ywsp ythh wshwy
Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth. Only the land of the priests alone didn’t become Pharaoh’s.
27
ויתיב ישראל בארעא דמצרים בארעא דגשן ואחסינו בה ונפישו וסגיאו לחדא:
lkhda wsgyaw wnpyshw bh wakhsynw dgshn barea dmtsrym barea yshral wythyb
Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they got themselves possessions therein, and were fruitful, and multiplied exceedingly.

וחיא יעקב בארעא דמצרים שבע עשרי שנין והוו יומי יעקב שני חיוהי מאה וארבעין ושבע שנין:
shnyn wshbe warbeyn mah khywhy shny yeqb ywmy whww shnyn eshry shbe dmtsrym barea yeqb wkhya
Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were one hundred forty-seven years.

וקריבו יומי ישראל לממת וקרא לבריה ליוסף ואמר ליה אם כען אשכחית רחמין בעיניך שוי כען ידך תחות ירכי ותעבד עמי טיבו וקשוט לא כען תקברנני במצרים:
bmtsrym thqbrnny ken la wqshwT Tybw emy wthebd yrky thkhwth ydk ken shwy beynyk rkhmyn ashkkhyth ken am lyh wamr lywsp lbryh wqra lmmth yshral ywmy wqrybw
The time came near that Israel must die, and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don’t bury me in Egypt,

ואשכוב עם אבהתי ותטלנני ממצרים ותקברנני בקברתהון ואמר אנא אעבד כפתגמך:
kpthgmk aebd ana wamr bqbrthhwn wthqbrnny mmtsrym wthTlnny abhthy em washkwb
but when I sleep with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” Joseph said, “I will do as you have said.”
