והוה כד ספיקו למיכל ית עיבורא דאיתיאו ממצרים ואמר להון אבוהון תובו זבונו לנא זעיר עיבורא:
eybwra zeyr lna zbwnw thwbw abwhwn lhwn wamr mmtsrym daythyaw eybwra yth lmykl spyqw kd whwh
When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little more food.”

ואמר ליה יהודה למימר אסהדא אסהד בנא גברא למימר לא תחזון אפי אלהין כד אחוכון עמכון:
emkwn akhwkwn kd alhyn apy thkhzwn la lmymr gbra bna ashd ashda lmymr yhwdh lyh wamr
Judah spoke to him, saying, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

אם איתך משלח ית אחונא עמנא ניחות ונזבן לך עיבורא:
eybwra lk wnzbn nykhwth emna akhwna yth mshlkh aythk am
If you’ll send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food;
5
ואם ליתך משלח לא ניחות ארי גברא אמר לנא לא תחזון אפי אלהין כד אחוכון עמכון:
emkwn akhwkwn kd alhyn apy thkhzwn la lna amr gbra ary nykhwth la mshlkh lythk wam
but if you don’t send him, we won’t go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’”

ואמר ישראל למה אבאשתון לי לחואה לגברא העד כען לכון אחא:
akha lkwn ken hed lgbra lkhwah ly abashthwn lmh yshral wamr
Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?”

ואמרו משאל שאל גברא לנא ולילדותנא למימר העד כען אבוכון קים האית לכון אחא וחוינא ליה על מימר פתגמיא האלין המדע הוינא ידעין ארי יימר אוחיתו ית אחוכון:
akhwkwn yth awkhythw yymr ary ydeyn hwyna hmde halyn pthgmya mymr el lyh wkhwyna akha lkwn hayth qym abwkwn ken hed lmymr wlyldwthna lna gbra shal mshal wamrw
They said, “The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”

ואמר יהודה לישראל אבוהי שלח עולימא עמי ונקום ונזיל וניחי ולא נמות אף אנחנא אף את אף טפלנא:
Tplna ap ath ap ankhna ap nmwth wla wnykhy wnzyl wnqwm emy ewlyma shlkh abwhy lyshral yhwdh wamr
Judah said to Israel, his father, “Send the boy with me, and we’ll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

אנא מערבנא ביה מן ידי תבעניה אם לא איתניה לך ואקימניה קדמך ואהי חטי לך כל יומיא:
ywmya kl lk khTy wahy qdmk waqymnyh lk aythnyh la am thbenyh ydy mn byh merbna ana
I’ll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don’t bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever;

ארי אלולפון בדא אתעכבנא ארי כען תבנא דנן תרתין זמנין:
zmnyn thrthyn dnn thbna ken ary athekbna bda alwlpwn ary
for if we hadn’t delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.”

ואמר להון ישראל אבוהון אם כן הכא דא עיבידו סיבו מדמשבח בארעא במניכון ואוחיתו לגברא תקרבתא זעיר קטף וזעיר דבש שעף ולטום בטנין ושגדין:
wshgdyn bTnyn wlTwm shep dbsh wzeyr qTp zeyr thqrbtha lgbra wawkhythw bmnykwn barea mdmshbkh sybw eybydw da hka kn am abwhwn yshral lhwn wamr
Their father, Israel, said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Take from the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry down a present for the man, a little balm, a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts, and almonds;

וכספא על חד תרין סיבו בידכון וית כספא דאתותב בפום טועניכון תתיבון בידכון מאים שלו הוא:
hwa shlw maym bydkwn ththybwn Twenykwn bpwm dathwthb kspa wyth bydkwn sybw thryn khd el wkspa
and take double money in your hand, and take back the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight.

וית אחוכון דברו וקומו תובו לות גברא:
gbra lwth thwbw wqwmw dbrw akhwkwn wyth
Take your brother also, get up, and return to the man.
14
ואל שדי יתן לכון רחמין לקדם גברא ויפטר לכון ית אחוכון אחרנא וית בנימין ואנא כמא דאתכלית תכלית:
thklyth dathklyth kma wana bnymyn wyth akhrna akhwkwn yth lkwn wypTr gbra lqdm rkhmyn lkwn ythn shdy wal
May God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”

ונסיבו גבריא ית תקרבתא הדא ועל חד תרין כספא נסיבו בידיהון ודברו ית בנימן וקמו ונחתו למצרים וקמו קדם יוסף:
ywsp qdm wqmw lmtsrym wnkhthw wqmw bnymn yth wdbrw bydyhwn nsybw kspa thryn khd wel hda thqrbtha yth gbrya wnsybw
The men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and got up, went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

וחזא יוסף עמהון ית בנימין ואמר לדי ממנא על ביתיה אעיל ית גבריא לביתא ונכוס נכסתא ואתקין ארי עמי ייכלון גבריא בשירותא:
bshyrwtha gbrya yyklwn emy ary wathqyn nkstha wnkws lbytha gbrya yth aeyl bythyh el mmna ldy wamr bnymyn yth emhwn ywsp wkhza
When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and butcher an animal, and prepare; for the men will dine with me at noon.”

ועבד גברא כמא די אמר יוסף ואעיל גברא ית גבריא לבית יוסף:
ywsp lbyth gbrya yth gbra waeyl ywsp amr dy kma gbra webd
The man did as Joseph commanded, and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.
18
ודחילו גבריא ארי אתעלו לבית יוסף ואמרו על עסק כספא דאתותב בטועננא בקדמיתא אנחנא מתעלין לאתרברבא עלנא ולאסתקפא עלנא ולמקני יתנא לעבדין ולמדבר ית חמרנא:
khmrna yth wlmdbr lebdyn ythna wlmqny elna wlasthqpa elna lathrbrba mthelyn ankhna bqdmytha bTwenna dathwthb kspa esq el wamrw ywsp lbyth athelw ary gbrya wdkhylw
The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

וקריבו לות גברא די ממנא על בית יוסף ומלילו עמיה בתרע ביתא:
bytha bthre emyh wmlylw ywsp byth el mmna dy gbra lwth wqrybw
They came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they spoke to him at the door of the house,
20
ואמרו בבעו רבוני מיחת נחתנא בקדמיתא למזבן עיבורא:
eybwra lmzbn bqdmytha nkhthna mykhth rbwny bbew wamrw
and said, “Oh, my lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.
21
והוה כד אתינא לבית מבתא ופתחנא ית טועננא והא כסף גבר בפום טועניה כספנא במתקליה ואתיבנא יתיה בידנא:
bydna ythyh wathybna bmthqlyh kspna Twenyh bpwm gbr ksp wha Twenna yth wpthkhna mbtha lbyth athyna kd whwh
When we came to the lodging place, we opened our sacks, and behold, each man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. We have brought it back in our hand.

וכספא אחרנא אוחיתנא בידנא למזבן עיבורא לא ידענא מן שוי כספנא בטועננא:
bTwenna kspna shwy mn ydena la eybwra lmzbn bydna awkhythna akhrna wkspa
We have brought down other money in our hand to buy food. We don’t know who put our money in our sacks.”

ואמר שלם לכון לא תדחלון אלהכון ואלהא דאבוכון יהב לכון סימא בטועניכון כספכון אתא לותי ואפיק לותהון ית שמעון:
shmewn yth lwthhwn wapyq lwthy atha kspkwn bTwenykwn syma lkwn yhb dabwkwn walha alhkwn thdkhlwn la lkwn shlm wamr
He said, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid. Your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” He brought Simeon out to them.

ואעיל גברא ית גבריא לבית יוסף ויהב מיא ואסחו רגליהון ויהב כסתא לחמריהון:
lkhmryhwn kstha wyhb rglyhwn waskhw mya wyhb ywsp lbyth gbrya yth gbra waeyl
The man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet. He gave their donkeys fodder.

ואתקינו ית תקרבתא עד דעל יוסף בשירותא ארי שמעו ארי תמן ייכלון לחמא:
lkhma yyklwn thmn ary shmew ary bshyrwtha ywsp del ed thqrbtha yth wathqynw
They prepared the present for Joseph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.

ועל יוסף לביתא ואיתיאו ליה ית תקרבתא די בידיהון לביתא וסגידו ליה לארעא:
larea lyh wsgydw lbytha bydyhwn dy thqrbtha yth lyh waythyaw lbytha ywsp wel
When Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves down to the earth before him.
27
ושאיל להון לשלם ואמר השלם אבוכון סבא די אמרתון העד כען קים:
qym ken hed amrthwn dy sba abwkwn hshlm wamr lshlm lhwn wshayl
He asked them of their welfare, and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?”

ואמרו שלם לעבדך לאבונא עד כען קים וכרעו וסגידו:
wsgydw wkrew qym ken ed labwna lebdk shlm wamrw
They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.
29
וזקף עינוהי וחזא ית בנימין אחוהי בר אמיה ואמר הדין אחוכון זעירא די אמרתון לי ואמר מן קדם יי יתרחם עלך ברי:
bry elk ythrkhm yy qdm mn wamr ly amrthwn dy zeyra akhwkwn hdyn wamr amyh br akhwhy bnymyn yth wkhza eynwhy wzqp
He lifted up his eyes, and saw Benjamin, his brother, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me?” He said, “God be gracious to you, my son.”

ואוחי יוסף ארי אתגוללו רחמוהי על אחוהי ובעא למבכי ועל לאדרון בית משכבא ובכא תמן:
thmn wbka mshkba byth ladrwn wel lmbky wbea akhwhy el rkhmwhy athgwllw ary ywsp wawkhy
Joseph hurried, for his heart yearned over his brother; and he sought a place to weep. He entered into his room, and wept there.
31
ואסחי אפוהי ונפק ואתחסין ואמר שויאו לחמא:
lkhma shwyaw wamr wathkhsyn wnpq apwhy waskhy
He washed his face, and came out. He controlled himself, and said, “Serve the meal.”
32
ושויאו ליה בלחודוהי ולהון בלחודיהון ולמצראי דאכלין עמיה בלחודיהון ארי לא יכלין מצראי למיכל עם עבראי לחמא ארי בעירא דמצראי דחלין ליה עבראי אכלין:
aklyn ebray lyh dkhlyn dmtsray beyra ary lkhma ebray em lmykl mtsray yklyn la ary blkhwdyhwn emyh daklyn wlmtsray blkhwdyhwn wlhwn blkhwdwhy lyh wshwyaw
They served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because the Egyptians don’t eat with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.
33
ואסחרו קדמוהי רבא כרביותיה וזעירא כזערותיה ותמהו גבריא גבר לחבריה:
lkhbryh gbr gbrya wthmhw kzerwthyh wzeyra krbywthyh rba qdmwhy waskhrw
They sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth, and the men marveled with one another.

ונטל חלקין מן קדמוהי לקדמיהון וסגי חלקא דבנימן מחלקי דכלהון חמשא חלקין ושתיאו ורויאו עמיה:
emyh wrwyaw wshthyaw khlqyn khmsha dklhwn mkhlqy dbnymn khlqa wsgy lqdmyhwn qdmwhy mn khlqyn wnTl
He sent portions to them from before him, but Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. They drank, and were merry with him.
