והוה כד ספיקו למיכל ית עיבורא דאיתיאו ממצרים ואמר להון אבוהון תובו זבונו לנא זעיר עיבורא:

When they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, “Go again, buy us a little more food.”

ואמר ליה יהודה למימר אסהדא אסהד בנא גברא למימר לא תחזון אפי אלהין כד אחוכון עמכון:
wamr lyh yhwdh lmymr ashda ashd bna gbra lmymr la thkhzwn apy alhyn kd akhwkwn emkwn
Judah spoke to him, saying, “The man solemnly warned us, saying, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’

אם איתך משלח ית אחונא עמנא ניחות ונזבן לך עיבורא:
am aythk mshlkh yth akhwna emna nykhwth wnzbn lk eybwra
If you’ll send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food;
5
ואם ליתך משלח לא ניחות ארי גברא אמר לנא לא תחזון אפי אלהין כד אחוכון עמכון:
wam lythk mshlkh la nykhwth ary gbra amr lna la thkhzwn apy alhyn kd akhwkwn emkwn
but if you don’t send him, we won’t go down, for the man said to us, ‘You shall not see my face, unless your brother is with you.’”

ואמר ישראל למה אבאשתון לי לחואה לגברא העד כען לכון אחא:
wamr yshral lmh abashthwn ly lkhwah lgbra hed ken lkwn akha
Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?”

ואמרו משאל שאל גברא לנא ולילדותנא למימר העד כען אבוכון קים האית לכון אחא וחוינא ליה על מימר פתגמיא האלין המדע הוינא ידעין ארי יימר אוחיתו ית אחוכון:
wamrw mshal shal gbra lna wlyldwthna lmymr hed ken abwkwn qym hayth lkwn akha wkhwyna lyh el mymr pthgmya halyn hmde hwyna ydeyn ary yymr awkhythw yth akhwkwn
They said, “The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”

ואמר יהודה לישראל אבוהי שלח עולימא עמי ונקום ונזיל וניחי ולא נמות אף אנחנא אף את אף טפלנא:
wamr yhwdh lyshral abwhy shlkh ewlyma emy wnqwm wnzyl wnykhy wla nmwth ap ankhna ap ath ap Tplna
Judah said to Israel, his father, “Send the boy with me, and we’ll get up and go, so that we may live, and not die, both we, and you, and also our little ones.

אנא מערבנא ביה מן ידי תבעניה אם לא איתניה לך ואקימניה קדמך ואהי חטי לך כל יומיא:
ana merbna byh mn ydy thbenyh am la aythnyh lk waqymnyh qdmk wahy khTy lk kl ywmya
I’ll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don’t bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever;

ארי אלולפון בדא אתעכבנא ארי כען תבנא דנן תרתין זמנין:
ary alwlpwn bda athekbna ary ken thbna dnn thrthyn zmnyn
for if we hadn’t delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.”

ואמר להון ישראל אבוהון אם כן הכא דא עיבידו סיבו מדמשבח בארעא במניכון ואוחיתו לגברא תקרבתא זעיר קטף וזעיר דבש שעף ולטום בטנין ושגדין:
wamr lhwn yshral abwhwn am kn hka da eybydw sybw mdmshbkh barea bmnykwn wawkhythw lgbra thqrbtha zeyr qTp wzeyr dbsh shep wlTwm bTnyn wshgdyn
Their father, Israel, said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Take from the choice fruits of the land in your bags, and carry down a present for the man, a little balm, a little honey, spices and myrrh, nuts, and almonds;

וכספא על חד תרין סיבו בידכון וית כספא דאתותב בפום טועניכון תתיבון בידכון מאים שלו הוא:
wkspa el khd thryn sybw bydkwn wyth kspa dathwthb bpwm Twenykwn ththybwn bydkwn maym shlw hwa
and take double money in your hand, and take back the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight.

וית אחוכון דברו וקומו תובו לות גברא:
wyth akhwkwn dbrw wqwmw thwbw lwth gbra
Take your brother also, get up, and return to the man.
14
ואל שדי יתן לכון רחמין לקדם גברא ויפטר לכון ית אחוכון אחרנא וית בנימין ואנא כמא דאתכלית תכלית:
wal shdy ythn lkwn rkhmyn lqdm gbra wypTr lkwn yth akhwkwn akhrna wyth bnymyn wana kma dathklyth thklyth
May God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”

ונסיבו גבריא ית תקרבתא הדא ועל חד תרין כספא נסיבו בידיהון ודברו ית בנימן וקמו ונחתו למצרים וקמו קדם יוסף:
wnsybw gbrya yth thqrbtha hda wel khd thryn kspa nsybw bydyhwn wdbrw yth bnymn wqmw wnkhthw lmtsrym wqmw qdm ywsp
The men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and got up, went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

וחזא יוסף עמהון ית בנימין ואמר לדי ממנא על ביתיה אעיל ית גבריא לביתא ונכוס נכסתא ואתקין ארי עמי ייכלון גבריא בשירותא:
wkhza ywsp emhwn yth bnymyn wamr ldy mmna el bythyh aeyl yth gbrya lbytha wnkws nkstha wathqyn ary emy yyklwn gbrya bshyrwtha
When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and butcher an animal, and prepare; for the men will dine with me at noon.”

ועבד גברא כמא די אמר יוסף ואעיל גברא ית גבריא לבית יוסף:
webd gbra kma dy amr ywsp waeyl gbra yth gbrya lbyth ywsp
The man did as Joseph commanded, and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.
18
ודחילו גבריא ארי אתעלו לבית יוסף ואמרו על עסק כספא דאתותב בטועננא בקדמיתא אנחנא מתעלין לאתרברבא עלנא ולאסתקפא עלנא ולמקני יתנא לעבדין ולמדבר ית חמרנא:
wdkhylw gbrya ary athelw lbyth ywsp wamrw el esq kspa dathwthb bTwenna bqdmytha ankhna mthelyn lathrbrba elna wlasthqpa elna wlmqny ythna lebdyn wlmdbr yth khmrna
The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

וקריבו לות גברא די ממנא על בית יוסף ומלילו עמיה בתרע ביתא:
wqrybw lwth gbra dy mmna el byth ywsp wmlylw emyh bthre bytha
They came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they spoke to him at the door of the house,
20
ואמרו בבעו רבוני מיחת נחתנא בקדמיתא למזבן עיבורא:
wamrw bbew rbwny mykhth nkhthna bqdmytha lmzbn eybwra
and said, “Oh, my lord, we indeed came down the first time to buy food.
21
והוה כד אתינא לבית מבתא ופתחנא ית טועננא והא כסף גבר בפום טועניה כספנא במתקליה ואתיבנא יתיה בידנא:
whwh kd athyna lbyth mbtha wpthkhna yth Twenna wha ksp gbr bpwm Twenyh kspna bmthqlyh wathybna ythyh bydna
When we came to the lodging place, we opened our sacks, and behold, each man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. We have brought it back in our hand.

וכספא אחרנא אוחיתנא בידנא למזבן עיבורא לא ידענא מן שוי כספנא בטועננא:
wkspa akhrna awkhythna bydna lmzbn eybwra la ydena mn shwy kspna bTwenna
We have brought down other money in our hand to buy food. We don’t know who put our money in our sacks.”

ואמר שלם לכון לא תדחלון אלהכון ואלהא דאבוכון יהב לכון סימא בטועניכון כספכון אתא לותי ואפיק לותהון ית שמעון:
wamr shlm lkwn la thdkhlwn alhkwn walha dabwkwn yhb lkwn syma bTwenykwn kspkwn atha lwthy wapyq lwthhwn yth shmewn
He said, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid. Your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” He brought Simeon out to them.
24
ואעיל גברא ית גבריא לבית יוסף ויהב מיא ואסחו רגליהון ויהב כסתא לחמריהון:
waeyl gbra yth gbrya lbyth ywsp wyhb mya waskhw rglyhwn wyhb kstha lkhmryhwn
The man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet. He gave their donkeys fodder.
25
ואתקינו ית תקרבתא עד דעל יוסף בשירותא ארי שמעו ארי תמן ייכלון לחמא:
wathqynw yth thqrbtha ed del ywsp bshyrwtha ary shmew ary thmn yyklwn lkhma
They prepared the present for Joseph’s coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.
26
ועל יוסף לביתא ואיתיאו ליה ית תקרבתא די בידיהון לביתא וסגידו ליה לארעא:
wel ywsp lbytha waythyaw lyh yth thqrbtha dy bydyhwn lbytha wsgydw lyh larea
When Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves down to the earth before him.
27
ושאיל להון לשלם ואמר השלם אבוכון סבא די אמרתון העד כען קים:
wshayl lhwn lshlm wamr hshlm abwkwn sba dy amrthwn hed ken qym
He asked them of their welfare, and said, “Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he yet alive?”
28
ואמרו שלם לעבדך לאבונא עד כען קים וכרעו וסגידו:
wamrw shlm lebdk labwna ed ken qym wkrew wsgydw
They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.
29
וזקף עינוהי וחזא ית בנימין אחוהי בר אמיה ואמר הדין אחוכון זעירא די אמרתון לי ואמר מן קדם יי יתרחם עלך ברי:
wzqp eynwhy wkhza yth bnymyn akhwhy br amyh wamr hdyn akhwkwn zeyra dy amrthwn ly wamr mn qdm yy ythrkhm elk bry
He lifted up his eyes, and saw Benjamin, his brother, his mother’s son, and said, “Is this your youngest brother, of whom you spoke to me?” He said, “God be gracious to you, my son.”
30
ואוחי יוסף ארי אתגוללו רחמוהי על אחוהי ובעא למבכי ועל לאדרון בית משכבא ובכא תמן:
wawkhy ywsp ary athgwllw rkhmwhy el akhwhy wbea lmbky wel ladrwn byth mshkba wbka thmn
Joseph hurried, for his heart yearned over his brother; and he sought a place to weep. He entered into his room, and wept there.
31
ואסחי אפוהי ונפק ואתחסין ואמר שויאו לחמא:
waskhy apwhy wnpq wathkhsyn wamr shwyaw lkhma
He washed his face, and came out. He controlled himself, and said, “Serve the meal.”
32
ושויאו ליה בלחודוהי ולהון בלחודיהון ולמצראי דאכלין עמיה בלחודיהון ארי לא יכלין מצראי למיכל עם עבראי לחמא ארי בעירא דמצראי דחלין ליה עבראי אכלין:
wshwyaw lyh blkhwdwhy wlhwn blkhwdyhwn wlmtsray daklyn emyh blkhwdyhwn ary la yklyn mtsray lmykl em ebray lkhma ary beyra dmtsray dkhlyn lyh ebray aklyn
They served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves, because the Egyptians don’t eat with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians.
33
ואסחרו קדמוהי רבא כרביותיה וזעירא כזערותיה ותמהו גבריא גבר לחבריה:
waskhrw qdmwhy rba krbywthyh wzeyra kzerwthyh wthmhw gbrya gbr lkhbryh
They sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth, and the men marveled with one another.
34
ונטל חלקין מן קדמוהי לקדמיהון וסגי חלקא דבנימן מחלקי דכלהון חמשא חלקין ושתיאו ורויאו עמיה:
wnTl khlqyn mn qdmwhy lqdmyhwn wsgy khlqa dbnymn mkhlqy dklhwn khmsha khlqyn wshthyaw wrwyaw emyh
He sent portions to them from before him, but Benjamin’s portion was five times as much as any of theirs. They drank, and were merry with him.
