והוה מסוף תרתין שנין ופרעה חלם והא קאם על נהרא:
whwh mswp thrthyn shnyn wpreh khlm wha qam el nhra
At the end of two full years, Pharaoh dreamed, and behold, he stood by the river.

והא מן נהרא סלקן שבע תורן שפירן למחזי ופטימן בשר ורעין באחוה:
wha mn nhra slqn shbe thwrn shpyrn lmkhzy wpTymn bshr wreyn bakhwh
Behold, seven cattle came up out of the river. They were sleek and fat, and they fed in the marsh grass.

והא שבע תורן אחרנין סלקן בתריהון מן נהרא בישן למחזי וחסירן בשר וקמן לקבליהון דתורן על כיף נהרא:
wha shbe thwrn akhrnyn slqn bthryhwn mn nhra byshn lmkhzy wkhsyrn bshr wqmn lqblyhwn dthwrn el kyp nhra
Behold, seven other cattle came up after them out of the river, ugly and thin, and stood by the other cattle on the brink of the river.

ואכלן תורתא בישן למחזי וחסירן בשר ית שבע תורתא שפירן למחזי ופטימתא ואתער פרעה:
wakln thwrtha byshn lmkhzy wkhsyrn bshr yth shbe thwrtha shpyrn lmkhzy wpTymtha wather preh
The ugly and thin cattle ate up the seven sleek and fat cattle. So Pharaoh awoke.

ודמוך וחלם תנינות והא שבע שבליא סלקן בקניא חד פטימן וטבן:
wdmwk wkhlm thnynwth wha shbe shblya slqn bqnya khd pTymn wTbn
He slept and dreamed a second time; and behold, seven heads of grain came up on one stalk, healthy and good.

והא שבע שבליא לקין ושקיפן קדום צמחן בתריהון:
wha shbe shblya lqyn wshqypn qdwm tsmkhn bthryhwn
Behold, seven heads of grain, thin and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them.

ובלעא שבליא לקיתא ית שבע שבליא פטימתא ומליתא ואתער פרעה והא חלמא:
wblea shblya lqytha yth shbe shblya pTymtha wmlytha wather preh wha khlma
The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy and full ears. Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream.

והוה בצפרא ומטרפא רוחיה ושלח וקרא ית כל חרשי מצרים וית כל חכימהא ואשתעי פרעה להון ית חלמיה ולית דפשר יתהון לפרעה:
whwh btspra wmTrpa rwkhyh wshlkh wqra yth kl khrshy mtsrym wyth kl khkymha washthey preh lhwn yth khlmyh wlyth dpshr ythhwn lpreh
In the morning, his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all of Egypt’s magicians and wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.

ומליל רב שקי לפרעה למימר ית סרחני אנא מדכר יומא דין:
wmlyl rb shqy lpreh lmymr yth srkhny ana mdkr ywma dyn
Then the chief cup bearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, “I remember my faults today.

פרעה רגז על עבדוהי ויהב יתי במטרת בית רב קטוליא יתי וית רב נחתומי:
preh rgz el ebdwhy wyhb ythy bmTrth byth rb qTwlya ythy wyth rb nkhthwmy
Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, with the chief baker.

וחלמנא חלמא בליליא חד אנא והוא גבר כפשרן חלמיה חלמנא:
wkhlmna khlma blylya khd ana whwa gbr kpshrn khlmyh khlmna
We dreamed a dream in one night, he and I. Each man dreamed according to the interpretation of his dream.

ותמן עמנא עולם עבראה עבדא לרב קטוליא ואשתעינא ליה ופשר לנא ית חלמנא גבר כחלמיה פשר:
wthmn emna ewlm ebrah ebda lrb qTwlya washtheyna lyh wpshr lna yth khlmna gbr kkhlmyh pshr
There was with us there a young man, a Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard, and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams. He interpreted to each man according to his dream.

והוה כמא די פשר לנא כן הוה יתי אתיב על שמושי ויתיה צלב:
whwh kma dy pshr lna kn hwh ythy athyb el shmwshy wythyh tslb
As he interpreted to us, so it was. He restored me to my office, and he hanged him.”
14
ושלח פרעה וקרא ית יוסף וארהיטוהי מן בית אסירי וספר ושני כסותיה ועל לות פרעה:
wshlkh preh wqra yth ywsp warhyTwhy mn byth asyry wspr wshny kswthyh wel lwth preh
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothing, and came in to Pharaoh.

ואמר פרעה ליוסף חלמא חלמית ופשר לית ליה ואנא שמעית עלך למימר דאת שמע חלמא למפשר יתיה:
wamr preh lywsp khlma khlmyth wpshr lyth lyh wana shmeyth elk lmymr dath shme khlma lmpshr ythyh
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”

ואתיב יוסף ית פרעה למימר בר מן חכמתי אלהן מן קדם יי יתתב ית שלמא דפרעה:
wathyb ywsp yth preh lmymr br mn khkmthy alhn mn qdm yy yththb yth shlma dpreh
Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It isn’t in me. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.”

ומליל פרעה ליוסף בחלמי הא אנא קאם על כיף נהרא:
wmlyl preh lywsp bkhlmy ha ana qam el kyp nhra
Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, “In my dream, behold, I stood on the brink of the river;
18
והא מן נהרא סלקן שבע תורתא פטימן בשר ושפירן למחזי ורעין באחוה:
wha mn nhra slqn shbe thwrtha pTymn bshr wshpyrn lmkhzy wreyn bakhwh
and behold, seven fat and sleek cattle came up out of the river. They fed in the marsh grass;

והא שבע תורתא אחרנין סלקן בתריהון חסיכן ובישן למחזי לחדא וחסירן בשר לא חזתי כותהן בכל ארעא דמצרים לבישו:
wha shbe thwrtha akhrnyn slqn bthryhwn khsykn wbyshn lmkhzy lkhda wkhsyrn bshr la khzthy kwthhn bkl area dmtsrym lbyshw
and behold, seven other cattle came up after them, poor and very ugly and thin, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for ugliness.
20
ואכלן תורתא חסיכתא ובישתא ית שבע תורתא קדמיתא פטימתא:
wakln thwrtha khsyktha wbyshtha yth shbe thwrtha qdmytha pTymtha
The thin and ugly cattle ate up the first seven fat cattle;
21
ועלא למעיהן ולא אתידע ארי עלו למעיהן ומחזיהן ביש כד בקדמיתא ואתערית:
wela lmeyhn wla athyde ary elw lmeyhn wmkhzyhn bysh kd bqdmytha watheryth
and when they had eaten them up, it couldn’t be known that they had eaten them, but they were still ugly, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
22
וחזית בחלמי והא שבע שבליא סלקן בקניא חד מלין וטבן:
wkhzyth bkhlmy wha shbe shblya slqn bqnya khd mlyn wTbn
I saw in my dream, and behold, seven heads of grain came up on one stalk, full and good;
23
והא שבע שבליא נצן לקין שקיפן קדום צמחן בתריהון:
wha shbe shblya ntsn lqyn shqypn qdwm tsmkhn bthryhwn
and behold, seven heads of grain, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them.
24
ובלען שבליא לקיתא ית שבע שבליא טבתא ואמרית לחרשיא ולית די מחוי לי:
wblen shblya lqytha yth shbe shblya Tbtha wamryth lkhrshya wlyth dy mkhwy ly
The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads of grain. I told it to the magicians, but there was no one who could explain it to me.”
25
ואמר יוסף לפרעה חלמא פרעה חד הוא ית די יי עתיד למעבד חוי לפרעה:
wamr ywsp lpreh khlma preh khd hwa yth dy yy ethyd lmebd khwy lpreh
Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dream of Pharaoh is one. What God is about to do he has declared to Pharaoh.

שבע תורתא טבתא שבע שנין אנון ושבע שבליא טבתא שבע שנין אנון חלמא חד הוא:
shbe thwrtha Tbtha shbe shnyn anwn wshbe shblya Tbtha shbe shnyn anwn khlma khd hwa
The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good heads of grain are seven years. The dream is one.
27
ושבע תורתא חסיכתא ובישתא דסלקן בתריהון שבע שנין אנון ושבע שבליא לקיתא דשקיפן קדום יהוין שבע שני כפנא:
wshbe thwrtha khsyktha wbyshtha dslqn bthryhwn shbe shnyn anwn wshbe shblya lqytha dshqypn qdwm yhwyn shbe shny kpna
The seven thin and ugly cattle that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty heads of grain blasted with the east wind; they will be seven years of famine.

הוא פתגמא די מלילית עם פרעה די יי עתיד למעבד אחזי לפרעה:
hwa pthgma dy mlylyth em preh dy yy ethyd lmebd akhzy lpreh
That is the thing which I have spoken to Pharaoh. God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.
29
הא שבע שנין אתין סבעא רבא בכל ארעא דמצרים:
ha shbe shnyn athyn sbea rba bkl area dmtsrym
Behold, seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt are coming.
30
ויקומון שבע שני כפנא בתריהן ויתנשי כל סבעא בארעא דמצרים וישיצי כפנא ית ארעא:
wyqwmwn shbe shny kpna bthryhn wythnshy kl sbea barea dmtsrym wyshytsy kpna yth area
Seven years of famine will arise after them, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land,
31
ולא יתידע שובעא בארעא מן קדם כפנא ההוא דיהי בתר כן ארי תקיף הוא לחדא:
wla ythyde shwbea barea mn qdm kpna hhwa dyhy bthr kn ary thqyp hwa lkhda
and the plenty will not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows; for it will be very grievous.
32
ועל דאתנית חלמא לפרעה תרתין זמנין ארי תקין פתגמא מן קדם יי ואוחי יי למעבדיה:
wel dathnyth khlma lpreh thrthyn zmnyn ary thqyn pthgma mn qdm yy wawkhy yy lmebdyh
The dream was doubled to Pharaoh, because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33
וכען יחזי פרעה גבר סוכלתן וחכים ומניה על ארעא דמצרים:
wken ykhzy preh gbr swklthn wkhkym wmnyh el area dmtsrym
“Now therefore let Pharaoh look for a discreet and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34
יעבד פרעה וימני מהימנין על ארעא ויזרז ית ארעא דמצרים בשבע שני שובעא :
yebd preh wymny mhymnyn el area wyzrz yth area dmtsrym bshbe shny shwbea
Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt’s produce in the seven plenteous years.
35
ויכנשון ית כל עיבור שניא טבן דאתין האלין ויצברון עיבורא תחות ידא דפרעה עיבורא בקירויא ויטרון:
wyknshwn yth kl eybwr shnya Tbn dathyn halyn wytsbrwn eybwra thkhwth yda dpreh eybwra bqyrwya wyTrwn
Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and store grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it.
36
ויהי עבורא גניז לארעא לשבע שני כפנא די תהוין בארעא דמצרים ולא תשתיצי עמא דארעא בכפנא:
wyhy ebwra gnyz larea lshbe shny kpna dy thhwyn barea dmtsrym wla thshthytsy ema darea bkpna
The food will be to supply the land against the seven years of famine, which will be in the land of Egypt; so that the land will not perish through the famine.”
37
ושפר פתגמא בעיני פרעה ובעיני כל עבדוהי:
wshpr pthgma beyny preh wbeyny kl ebdwhy
The thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38
ואמר פרעה לעבדוהי הנשכח כדין גבר די רוח נבואה מן קדם יי ביה:
wamr preh lebdwhy hnshkkh kdyn gbr dy rwkh nbwah mn qdm yy byh
Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
39
ואמר פרעה ליוסף בתר דאודע יי יתך ית כל דא לית סכלתן וחכים כותך:
wamr preh lywsp bthr dawde yy ythk yth kl da lyth sklthn wkhkym kwthk
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you.
40
את תהי ממנא על ביתי ועל מימרך יתזן כל עמי לחוד כרסי מלכותא הדין איהי יקיר מנך:
ath thhy mmna el bythy wel mymrk ythzn kl emy lkhwd krsy mlkwtha hdyn ayhy yqyr mnk
You shall be over my house. All my people will be ruled according to your word. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”
41
ואמר פרעה ליוסף חזי מניתי יתך על כל ארעא דמצרים:
wamr preh lywsp khzy mnythy ythk el kl area dmtsrym
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”
42
ואעדי פרעה ית עזקתיה מעל ידיה ויהב יתה על ידא דיוסף ואלביש יתיה לבושין דבוץ ושוי מניכא דדהבא על צואריה:
waedy preh yth ezqthyh mel ydyh wyhb ythh el yda dywsp walbysh ythyh lbwshyn dbwts wshwy mnyka ddhba el tswaryh
Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck.
43
וארכיב יתיה ברתכא תניתא די ליה ואכריזו קדמוהי דין אבא למלכא ומני יתיה על כל ארעא דמצרים:
warkyb ythyh brthka thnytha dy lyh wakryzw qdmwhy dyn aba lmlka wmny ythyh el kl area dmtsrym
He made him ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, “Bow the knee!” He set him over all the land of Egypt.
44
ואמר פרעה ליוסף אנא פרעה ובר מימרך לא ירים גבר ית ידיה למיחד זין וית רגליה למרכב על סוסיא בכל ארעא דמצרים:
wamr preh lywsp ana preh wbr mymrk la yrym gbr yth ydyh lmykhd zyn wyth rglyh lmrkb el swsya bkl area dmtsrym
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh. Without you, no man shall lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt.”
45
וקרא פרעה שום יוסף גברא דמטמרן גלין ליה ויהב ליה ית אסנת בת פוטי פרע רבא דאון לאתתא ונפק יוסף על ארעא דמצרים:
wqra preh shwm ywsp gbra dmTmrn glyn lyh wyhb lyh yth asnth bth pwTy pre rba dawn laththa wnpq ywsp el area dmtsrym
Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphenath-Paneah. He gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On as a wife. Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.
46
ויוסף בר תלתין שנין כד קם קדם פרעה מלכא דמצרים ונפק יוסף מן קדם פרעה ועבר בכל ארעא דמצרים:
wywsp br thlthyn shnyn kd qm qdm preh mlka dmtsrym wnpq ywsp mn qdm preh webr bkl area dmtsrym
Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
47
וכנשו דירי ארעא בשבע שני שובעא עיבורא לאוצרין:
wknshw dyry area bshbe shny shwbea eybwra lawtsryn
In the seven plenteous years the earth produced abundantly.
48
וכנש ית כל עיבור שבע שנין די הוו בארעא דמצרים ויהב עיבור בקרויא עיבור חקל קרתא די בסחרנהא יהב בגוה:
wknsh yth kl eybwr shbe shnyn dy hww barea dmtsrym wyhb eybwr bqrwya eybwr khql qrtha dy bskhrnha yhb bgwh
He gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities. He stored food in each city from the fields around that city.
49
וכנש יוסף עבורא כחלא דימא סגי לחדא עד די פסק לממני ארי לית מנין:
wknsh ywsp ebwra kkhla dyma sgy lkhda ed dy psq lmmny ary lyth mnyn
Joseph laid up grain as the sand of the sea, very much, until he stopped counting, for it was without number.
50
וליוסף אתיליד תרתין בנין עד לא עלת שתא דכפנא דילידת ליה אסנת בת פוטי פרע רבא דאון:
wlywsp athylyd thrthyn bnyn ed la elth shtha dkpna dylydth lyh asnth bth pwTy pre rba dawn
To Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore to him.
51
וקרא יוסף ית שום בוכרא מנשה ארי אנשיני יי ית כל עמלי וית כל בית אבא:
wqra ywsp yth shwm bwkra mnshh ary anshyny yy yth kl emly wyth kl byth aba
Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, “For”, he said, “God has made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.”
52
וית שום תנינא קרא אפרים ארי אפשני יי בארע שעבודי:
wyth shwm thnyna qra aprym ary apshny yy bare shebwdy
The name of the second, he called Ephraim: “For God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
53
ושלימת שבע שני שובעא די הוה בארעא דמצרים:
wshlymth shbe shny shwbea dy hwh barea dmtsrym
The seven years of plenty, that were in the land of Egypt, came to an end.
54
ושריאת שבע שני כפנא למיעל כמא די אמר יוסף והוה כפנא בכל ארעתא ובכל ארעא דמצרים הוה לחמא:
wshryath shbe shny kpna lmyel kma dy amr ywsp whwh kpna bkl aretha wbkl area dmtsrym hwh lkhma
The seven years of famine began to come, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
55
וכפנת כל ארעא דמצרים וצוח עמא לפרעה ללחמא ואמר פרעה לכל מצראי איזילו לות יוסף די יימר לכון תעבדון:
wkpnth kl area dmtsrym wtswkh ema lpreh llkhma wamr preh lkl mtsray ayzylw lwth ywsp dy yymr lkwn thebdwn
When all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread, and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph. What he says to you, do.”
56
וכפנא הוה על כל אפי ארעא ופתח יוסף ית כל די בהון עיבורא וזבין למצרים ותקיף כפנא בארעא דמצרים:
wkpna hwh el kl apy area wpthkh ywsp yth kl dy bhwn eybwra wzbyn lmtsrym wthqyp kpna barea dmtsrym
The famine was over all the surface of the earth. Joseph opened all the store houses, and sold to the Egyptians. The famine was severe in the land of Egypt.
57
וכל דירי ארעא עלו למצרים למזבן עיבורא מן יוסף ארי תקיף כפנא בכל ארעא:
wkl dyry area elw lmtsrym lmzbn eybwra mn ywsp ary thqyp kpna bkl area
All countries came into Egypt, to Joseph, to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all the earth.
