והוה בתר פתגמיא האלין סרחו שקיא מלכא דמצרים ונחתומא לרבוניהון למלכא דמצרים:
whwh bthr pthgmya halyn srkhw shqya mlka dmtsrym wnkhthwma lrbwnyhwn lmlka dmtsrym
After these things, the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.

ורגז פרעה על תרין רברבנוהי על רב שקי ועל רב נחתומי:
wrgz preh el thryn rbrbnwhy el rb shqy wel rb nkhthwmy
Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.

ויהב יתהון במטרא בית רב קטוליא לבית אסירי אתר די יוסף אסיר תמן:
wyhb ythhwn bmTra byth rb qTwlya lbyth asyry athr dy ywsp asyr thmn
He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

ומני רב קטוליא ית יוסף עמהון ושמש יתהון והוו יומין במטרא:
wmny rb qTwlya yth ywsp emhwn wshmsh ythhwn whww ywmyn bmTra
The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.

וחלמו חלמא תרויהון גבר חלמיה בליליא חד גבר כפושרן חלמיה שקיא ונחתומא די למלכא דמצרים די אסירין בבית אסירי:
wkhlmw khlma thrwyhwn gbr khlmyh blylya khd gbr kpwshrn khlmyh shqya wnkhthwma dy lmlka dmtsrym dy asyryn bbyth asyry
They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

ואתא לותהון יוסף בצפרא וחזא יתהון והא אנון נסיסין:
watha lwthhwn ywsp btspra wkhza ythhwn wha anwn nsysyn
Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.

ושאל ית רברבי פרעה די עמיה במטרא בית רבוניה למימר מא דין אפיכון בישין יומא דין:
wshal yth rbrby preh dy emyh bmTra byth rbwnyh lmymr ma dyn apykwn byshyn ywma dyn
He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

ואמרו ליה חלמא חלמנא ופשר לית ליה ואמר להון יוסף הלא מן קדם יי פושרן חלמיא אשתעו כען לי:
wamrw lyh khlma khlmna wpshr lyth lyh wamr lhwn ywsp hla mn qdm yy pwshrn khlmya ashthew ken ly
They said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it.” Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me.”

ואשתעי רב שקי ית חלמיה ליוסף ואמר ליה בחלמי והא גופנא קדמי:
washthey rb shqy yth khlmyh lywsp wamr lyh bkhlmy wha gwpna qdmy
The chief cup bearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,

ובגופנא תלתא שבשין והיא כד אפרחת אפקת לבלבין ואניצת נץ בשילו אתכלתהא ענבין:
wbgwpna thltha shbshyn whya kd aprkhth apqth lblbyn wanytsth nts bshylw athklthha enbyn
and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.

וכסא דפרעה בידי ונסיבת ית ענביא ועצרית יתהון לכסא דפרעה ויהבית ית כסא על ידא דפרעה:
wksa dpreh bydy wnsybth yth enbya wetsryth ythhwn lksa dpreh wyhbyth yth ksa el yda dpreh
Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.”

ואמר ליה יוסף דין פשרניה תלתא שבשין תלתא יומין אנון:
wamr lyh ywsp dyn pshrnyh thltha shbshyn thltha ywmyn anwn
Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.

בסוף תלתא יומין ידברנך פרעה ית רישך ויתיבנך על שמושך ותתן כסא דפרעה בידיה כהלכתא קדמאה די הויתא משקי ליה:
bswp thltha ywmyn ydbrnk preh yth ryshk wythybnk el shmwshk wththn ksa dpreh bydyh khlktha qdmah dy hwytha mshqy lyh
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cup bearer.

אלהן תדכרנני עמך כד ייטב לך ותעבד כען עמי טיבו ותדכר עלי קדם פרעה ותפקנני מן בית אסירא הדין:
alhn thdkrnny emk kd yyTb lk wthebd ken emy Tybw wthdkr ely qdm preh wthpqnny mn byth asyra hdyn
But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.

ארי מגנב גנבנא מארעא דעבראי ואף הכא לא עבדית מדעם ארי שויאו יתי בבית אסירי:
ary mgnb gnbna marea debray wap hka la ebdyth mdem ary shwyaw ythy bbyth asyry
For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.”

וחזא רב נחתומי ארי יאות פשר ואמר ליוסף אף אנא בחלמי והא תלתא סלין דחירו על רישי:
wkhza rb nkhthwmy ary yawth pshr wamr lywsp ap ana bkhlmy wha thltha slyn dkhyrw el ryshy
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.

ובסלא עלאה מכל מיכל פרעה עובד נחתום ועופא אכל יתהון מן סלא מעלוי רישי:
wbsla elah mkl mykl preh ewbd nkhthwm wewpa akl ythhwn mn sla melwy ryshy
In the uppermost basket there were all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”

ואתב יוסף ואמר דין פשרניה תלתא סלין תלתא יומין אנון:
wathb ywsp wamr dyn pshrnyh thltha slyn thltha ywmyn anwn
Joseph answered, “This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days.

בסוף תלתא יומין יעדי פרעה ית רישך מנך ויצלוב יתך על צליבא ויכול עופא ית בשרך מנך:
bswp thltha ywmyn yedy preh yth ryshk mnk wytslwb ythk el tslyba wykwl ewpa yth bshrk mnk
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you.”

והוה ביומא תליתאה יומא בית ולדא דפרעה ועבד משתיא לכל עבדוהי ואדכר ית ריש רב שקי וית ריש רב נחתומי בגו עבדוהי:
whwh bywma thlythah ywma byth wlda dpreh webd mshthya lkl ebdwhy wadkr yth rysh rb shqy wyth rysh rb nkhthwmy bgw ebdwhy
On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cup bearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

ואתיב ית רב שקי על שקיותיה ויהב ית כסא על ידא דפרעה:
wathyb yth rb shqy el shqywthyh wyhb yth ksa el yda dpreh
He restored the chief cup bearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand;
22
וית רב נחתומי צלב כמא די פשר להון יוסף:
wyth rb nkhthwmy tslb kma dy pshr lhwn ywsp
but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

ולא דכיר רב שקי ית יוסף ואנשיה:
wla dkyr rb shqy yth ywsp wanshyh
Yet the chief cup bearer didn’t remember Joseph, but forgot him.
