והוה בתר פתגמיא האלין סרחו שקיא מלכא דמצרים ונחתומא לרבוניהון למלכא דמצרים:
dmtsrym lmlka lrbwnyhwn wnkhthwma dmtsrym mlka shqya srkhw halyn pthgmya bthr whwh
After these things, the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.

ורגז פרעה על תרין רברבנוהי על רב שקי ועל רב נחתומי:
nkhthwmy rb wel shqy rb el rbrbnwhy thryn el preh wrgz
Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.

ויהב יתהון במטרא בית רב קטוליא לבית אסירי אתר די יוסף אסיר תמן:
thmn asyr ywsp dy athr asyry lbyth qTwlya rb byth bmTra ythhwn wyhb
He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

ומני רב קטוליא ית יוסף עמהון ושמש יתהון והוו יומין במטרא:
bmTra ywmyn whww ythhwn wshmsh emhwn ywsp yth qTwlya rb wmny
The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.

וחלמו חלמא תרויהון גבר חלמיה בליליא חד גבר כפושרן חלמיה שקיא ונחתומא די למלכא דמצרים די אסירין בבית אסירי:
asyry bbyth asyryn dy dmtsrym lmlka dy wnkhthwma shqya khlmyh kpwshrn gbr khd blylya khlmyh gbr thrwyhwn khlma wkhlmw
They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

ואתא לותהון יוסף בצפרא וחזא יתהון והא אנון נסיסין:
nsysyn anwn wha ythhwn wkhza btspra ywsp lwthhwn watha
Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.

ושאל ית רברבי פרעה די עמיה במטרא בית רבוניה למימר מא דין אפיכון בישין יומא דין:
dyn ywma byshyn apykwn dyn ma lmymr rbwnyh byth bmTra emyh dy preh rbrby yth wshal
He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

ואמרו ליה חלמא חלמנא ופשר לית ליה ואמר להון יוסף הלא מן קדם יי פושרן חלמיא אשתעו כען לי:
ly ken ashthew khlmya pwshrn yy qdm mn hla ywsp lhwn wamr lyh lyth wpshr khlmna khlma lyh wamrw
They said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it.” Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me.”

ואשתעי רב שקי ית חלמיה ליוסף ואמר ליה בחלמי והא גופנא קדמי:
qdmy gwpna wha bkhlmy lyh wamr lywsp khlmyh yth shqy rb washthey
The chief cup bearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,

ובגופנא תלתא שבשין והיא כד אפרחת אפקת לבלבין ואניצת נץ בשילו אתכלתהא ענבין:
enbyn athklthha bshylw nts wanytsth lblbyn apqth aprkhth kd whya shbshyn thltha wbgwpna
and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.

וכסא דפרעה בידי ונסיבת ית ענביא ועצרית יתהון לכסא דפרעה ויהבית ית כסא על ידא דפרעה:
dpreh yda el ksa yth wyhbyth dpreh lksa ythhwn wetsryth enbya yth wnsybth bydy dpreh wksa
Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.”

ואמר ליה יוסף דין פשרניה תלתא שבשין תלתא יומין אנון:
anwn ywmyn thltha shbshyn thltha pshrnyh dyn ywsp lyh wamr
Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.

בסוף תלתא יומין ידברנך פרעה ית רישך ויתיבנך על שמושך ותתן כסא דפרעה בידיה כהלכתא קדמאה די הויתא משקי ליה:
lyh mshqy hwytha dy qdmah khlktha bydyh dpreh ksa wththn shmwshk el wythybnk ryshk yth preh ydbrnk ywmyn thltha bswp
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cup bearer.

אלהן תדכרנני עמך כד ייטב לך ותעבד כען עמי טיבו ותדכר עלי קדם פרעה ותפקנני מן בית אסירא הדין:
hdyn asyra byth mn wthpqnny preh qdm ely wthdkr Tybw emy ken wthebd lk yyTb kd emk thdkrnny alhn
But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.

ארי מגנב גנבנא מארעא דעבראי ואף הכא לא עבדית מדעם ארי שויאו יתי בבית אסירי:
asyry bbyth ythy shwyaw ary mdem ebdyth la hka wap debray marea gnbna mgnb ary
For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.”

וחזא רב נחתומי ארי יאות פשר ואמר ליוסף אף אנא בחלמי והא תלתא סלין דחירו על רישי:
ryshy el dkhyrw slyn thltha wha bkhlmy ana ap lywsp wamr pshr yawth ary nkhthwmy rb wkhza
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.

ובסלא עלאה מכל מיכל פרעה עובד נחתום ועופא אכל יתהון מן סלא מעלוי רישי:
ryshy melwy sla mn ythhwn akl wewpa nkhthwm ewbd preh mykl mkl elah wbsla
In the uppermost basket there were all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”

ואתב יוסף ואמר דין פשרניה תלתא סלין תלתא יומין אנון:
anwn ywmyn thltha slyn thltha pshrnyh dyn wamr ywsp wathb
Joseph answered, “This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days.

בסוף תלתא יומין יעדי פרעה ית רישך מנך ויצלוב יתך על צליבא ויכול עופא ית בשרך מנך:
mnk bshrk yth ewpa wykwl tslyba el ythk wytslwb mnk ryshk yth preh yedy ywmyn thltha bswp
Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you.”

והוה ביומא תליתאה יומא בית ולדא דפרעה ועבד משתיא לכל עבדוהי ואדכר ית ריש רב שקי וית ריש רב נחתומי בגו עבדוהי:
ebdwhy bgw nkhthwmy rb rysh wyth shqy rb rysh yth wadkr ebdwhy lkl mshthya webd dpreh wlda byth ywma thlythah bywma whwh
On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cup bearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

ואתיב ית רב שקי על שקיותיה ויהב ית כסא על ידא דפרעה:
dpreh yda el ksa yth wyhb shqywthyh el shqy rb yth wathyb
He restored the chief cup bearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand;
22
וית רב נחתומי צלב כמא די פשר להון יוסף:
ywsp lhwn pshr dy kma tslb nkhthwmy rb wyth
but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
