1
ואדם ידע ית חוה אתתה ועדיאת וילידת ית קין ואמרת קניתי גברא קדם יי:
yy qdm gbra qnythy wamrth qyn yth wylydth wedyath aththh khwh yth yde wadm
The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”

ואוסיפת למילד ית אחוהי ית הבל והוה הבל רעי ענא וקין הוה פלח בארעא:
barea plkh hwh wqyn ena rey hbl whwh hbl yth akhwhy yth lmyld wawsypth
Again she gave birth, to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

והוה מסוף יומין ואיתי קין מאבא דארעא תקרובתא קדם יי:
yy qdm thqrwbtha darea maba qyn waythy ywmyn mswp whwh
As time passed, Cain brought an offering to Yahweh from the fruit of the ground.

והבל איתי אף הוא מבכירי ענה ומשמנהון והות רעוא מן קדם יי בהבל ובקורבנה:
wbqwrbnh bhbl yy qdm mn rewa whwth wmshmnhwn enh mbkyry hwa ap aythy whbl
Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. Yahweh respected Abel and his offering,

ובקין ובקורבנה לא הות רעוא ותקף לקין לחדא ואתכבישו אפוהי:
apwhy wathkbyshw lkhda lqyn wthqp rewa hwth la wbqwrbnh wbqyn
but he didn’t respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.

ואמר יי לקין למא תקיף לך ולמא אתכבישו אפיך:
apyk athkbyshw wlma lk thqyp lma lqyn yy wamr
Yahweh said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why has the expression of your face fallen?

הלא אם תוטיב עובדך ישתבק לך ואם לא תוטיב עובדך ליום דינא חטאך נטיר דיעתיד לאתפרעא מנך אם לא תתוב ואם תתוב ישתבק לך:
lk yshthbq ththwb wam ththwb la am mnk lathprea dyethyd nTyr khTak dyna lywm ewbdk thwTyb la wam lk yshthbq ewbdk thwTyb am hla
If you do well, won’t it be lifted up? If you don’t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it.”

ואמר קין להבל אחוהי והוה במהויהון בחקלא וקם קין על הבל אחוהי וקטלה:
wqTlh akhwhy hbl el qyn wqm bkhqla bmhwyhwn whwh akhwhy lhbl qyn wamr
Cain said to Abel, his brother, “Let’s go into the field.” While they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him.

ואמר יי לקין אן הבל אחוך ואמר לא ידענא הנטר אחי אנא:
ana akhy hnTr ydena la wamr akhwk hbl an lqyn yy wamr
Yahweh said to Cain, “Where is Abel, your brother?” He said, “I don’t know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”

ואמר מה עבדתא קל דם זרעין דעתידין למפק מן אחוך קבלין קדמי מן ארעא:
area mn qdmy qblyn akhwk mn lmpq dethydyn zreyn dm ql ebdtha mh wamr
Yahweh said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground.

וכען ליט את מן ארעא דפתחת ית פומה וקבילת ית דמה דאחוך מן ידך:
ydk mn dakhwk dmh yth wqbylth pwmh yth dpthkhth area mn ath lyT wken
Now you are cursed because of the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

ארי תפלח בארעא לא תוסיף למתן חילה לך מטלטל וגלי תהא בארעא:
barea thha wgly mTlTl lk khylh lmthn thwsyp la barea thplkh ary
From now on, when you till the ground, it won’t yield its strength to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth.”

ואמר קין קדם יי סגי חובי מלמשבק:
mlmshbq khwby sgy yy qdm qyn wamr
Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.

הא תריכתא יתי יומא דין מעל אפי ארעא ומן קדמך לית אפשר לאטמרא ואהי מטלטל וגלי בארעא ויהי כל דישכחנני יקטלינני:
yqTlynny dyshkkhnny kl wyhy barea wgly mTlTl wahy laTmra apshr lyth qdmk wmn area apy mel dyn ywma ythy thryktha ha
Behold, you have driven me out today from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. Whoever finds me will kill me.”

ואמר לה יי בכן כל קטיל קין לשבעא דרין יתפרע מנה ושוי יי לקין אתא בדיל דלא למקטל יתה כל דישכחנה:
dyshkkhnh kl ythh lmqTl dla bdyl atha lqyn yy wshwy mnh ythpre dryn lshbea qyn qTyl kl bkn yy lh wamr
Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, so that anyone finding him would not strike him.

ונפק קין מן קדם יי ויתיב בארעא גלי ומטלטל דהוה עבידא עלוהי מלקדמין דגינתא דעדן:
dedn dgyntha mlqdmyn elwhy ebyda dhwh wmTlTl gly barea wythyb yy qdm mn qyn wnpq
Cain left Yahweh’s presence, and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

וידע קין ית אתתה ועדיאת וילידת ית חנוך והוה בני קרתא וקרא שמא דקרתא כשום ברה חנוך:
khnwk brh kshwm dqrtha shma wqra qrtha bny whwh khnwk yth wylydth wedyath aththh yth qyn wyde
Cain knew his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Enoch. He built a city, and named the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

ואתיליד לחנוך ית עירד ועירד אוליד ית מחויאל ומחייאל אוליד ית מתושאל ומתושאל אוליד ית למך:
lmk yth awlyd wmthwshal mthwshal yth awlyd wmkhyyal mkhwyal yth awlyd weyrd eyrd yth lkhnwk wathylyd
Irad was born to Enoch. Irad became the father of Mehujael. Mehujael became the father of Methushael. Methushael became the father of Lamech.

ונסיב לה למך תרתין נשין שום חדא עדה ושום תניתא צלה:
tslh thnytha wshwm edh khda shwm nshyn thrthyn lmk lh wnsyb
Lamech took two wives: the name of the first one was Adah, and the name of the second one was Zillah.

וילידת עדה ית יבל הוא הוה רבהון דיתבי משכנין ומרי בעיר:
beyr wmry mshknyn dythby rbhwn hwh hwa ybl yth edh wylydth
Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
21
ושום אחוהי יובל הוא הוה רבהון דכל דמנגן על פום נבלא ידעי זמר כנורא ואבובא:
wabwba knwra zmr ydey nbla pwm el dmngn dkl rbhwn hwh hwa ywbl akhwhy wshwm
His brother’s name was Jubal, who was the father of all who handle the harp and pipe.

וצלה אף היא ילידת ית תובל קין רבהון דכל דידעי עיבידת נחשא ופרזלא ואחתה דתובל קין נעמה:
nemh qyn dthwbl wakhthh wprzla nkhsha eybydth dydey dkl rbhwn qyn thwbl yth ylydth hya ap wtslh
Zillah also gave birth to Tubal Cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of bronze and iron. Tubal Cain’s sister was Naamah.

ואמר למך לנשוהי עדה וצלה שמען קלי נשי למך אציתא לממרי לא גברא קטלית דבדילה אנא סביל חובין ואף לא עולימא חבלית דבדילה ישתיצי זרעי:
zrey yshthytsy dbdylh khblyth ewlyma la wap khwbyn sbyl ana dbdylh qTlyth gbra la lmmry atsytha lmk nshy qly shmen wtslh edh lnshwhy lmk wamr
Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice. You wives of Lamech, listen to my speech, for I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for bruising me.

ארי שבעא דרין איתלאו לקין הלא ללמך ברה שבעין ושבעא:
wshbea shbeyn brh llmk hla lqyn aythlaw dryn shbea ary
If Cain will be avenged seven times, truly Lamech seventy-seven times.”

וידע אדם עוד ית אתתה וילידת בר וקרת ית שמה שת ארי אמרת יהב לי יי בר אוחרן חלף הבל דקטלה קין:
qyn dqTlh hbl khlp awkhrn br yy ly yhb amrth ary shth shmh yth wqrth br wylydth aththh yth ewd adm wyde
Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, saying, “for God has given me another child instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”
