וחויא הוה חכים מכל חות ברא די עבד יי אלהים ואמר לאתתא בקושטא ארי אמר יי לא תיכלון מכל אילן גינתא:
wkhwya hwh khkym mkl khwth bra dy ebd yy alhym wamr laththa bqwshTa ary amr yy la thyklwn mkl ayln gyntha
Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”

ואמרת אתתא לחויא מפירי אילן גינתא ניכול:
wamrth aththa lkhwya mpyry ayln gyntha nykwl
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden,

ומפירי אילנא די במציעות גינתא אמר יי לא תיכלון מנה ולא תקרבון בה דילמא תמותון:
wmpyry aylna dy bmtsyewth gyntha amr yy la thyklwn mnh wla thqrbwn bh dylma thmwthwn
but not the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it. You shall not touch it, lest you die.’”

ואמר חויא לאיתתא לא מות תמותון:
wamr khwya layththa la mwth thmwthwn
The serpent said to the woman, “You won’t really die,

ארי גלי קדם יי ארי ביומא דתיכלון מנה ויתפתחן עיניכון ותהון כרברבין חכימין בין טב לביש:
ary gly qdm yy ary bywma dthyklwn mnh wythpthkhn eynykwn wthhwn krbrbyn khkymyn byn Tb lbysh
for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

וחזת אתתא ארי טב אילן למיכל וארי אסי הוא לעינין ומרגג אילנא לאסתכלא בה ונסיבת מאבה ואכלת ויהבת אף לבעלה עמה ואכל:
wkhzth aththa ary Tb ayln lmykl wary asy hwa leynyn wmrgg aylna lasthkla bh wnsybth mabh waklth wyhbth ap lbelh emh wakl
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took some of its fruit, and ate. Then she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate it, too.

ואתפתחא עיני תרויהון וידעו ארי ערטילאין אינון וחטיטו להון טרפי תאנין ועבדו להון זרזין:
wathpthkha eyny thrwyhwn wydew ary erTylayn aynwn wkhTyTw lhwn Trpy thanyn webdw lhwn zrzyn
Their eyes were opened, and they both knew that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together, and made coverings for themselves.

ושמעו ית קל מימרא דיי אלהים מהלך בגינתא למנח יומא ואיטמר אדם ואתתה מן קדם יי אלהים בגו אילן גינתא:
wshmew yth ql mymra dyy alhym mhlk bgyntha lmnkh ywma wayTmr adm waththh mn qdm yy alhym bgw ayln gyntha
They heard Yahweh God’s voice walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.

וקרא יי אלהים לאדם ואמר לה אן את:
wqra yy alhym ladm wamr lh an ath
Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
10
ואמר ית קל מימרך שמעית בגינתא ודחילית ארי ערטילאי אנא ואיטמרית:
wamr yth ql mymrk shmeyth bgyntha wdkhylyth ary erTylay ana wayTmryth
The man said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; so I hid myself.”

ואמר מן חוי לך ארי ערטילאי את המן אילנא דפקדתך בדיל דלא למיכל מנה אכלת:
wamr mn khwy lk ary erTylay ath hmn aylna dpqdthk bdyl dla lmykl mnh aklth
God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

ואמר האדם אתתא דיהבת עמי היא יהבת לי מן אילנא ואכלית:
wamr hadm aththa dyhbth emy hya yhbth ly mn aylna waklyth
The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

ואמר יי אלהים לאתתא מה דא עבדת ואמרת אתתא חויא אטעיני ואכלית:
wamr yy alhym laththa mh da ebdth wamrth aththa khwya aTeyny waklyth
Yahweh God said to the woman, “What have you done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

ואמר יי אלהים לחויא ארי עבדת דא ליט את מכל בעירא ומכל חות ברא על מעך תיזיל ועפרא תיכול כל יומי חייך:
wamr yy alhym lkhwya ary ebdth da lyT ath mkl beyra wmkl khwth bra el mek thyzyl wepra thykwl kl ywmy khyyk
Yahweh God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock, and above every animal of the field. You shall go on your belly and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

ודבבו אשוי בינך ובין אתתא ובין בנך ובין בנהה הוא יהי דכיר לך מה דעבדת לה מלקדמין ואת תהא נטיר לה לסופא:
wdbbw ashwy bynk wbyn aththa wbyn bnk wbyn bnhh hwa yhy dkyr lk mh debdth lh mlqdmyn wath thha nTyr lh lswpa
I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

לאתתא אמר אסגאה אסגי צעריכי ועדוייכי בצער תלדי בנין ולות בעלך תהא תאובתיך והוא ישלט בך:
laththa amr asgah asgy tseryky wedwyyky btser thldy bnyn wlwth belk thha thawbthyk whwa yshlT bk
To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. You will bear children in pain. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

ולאדם אמר ארי קבילת למימר אתתך ואכלת מן אילנא די פקידתך למימר לא תיכול מנה ליטא ארעא בדילך בעמל תיכלינה כל יומי חייך:
wladm amr ary qbylth lmymr aththk waklth mn aylna dy pqydthk lmymr la thykwl mnh lyTa area bdylk beml thyklynh kl ywmy khyyk
To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s voice, and have eaten from the tree, about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ the ground is cursed for your sake. You will eat from it with much labor all the days of your life.

וכובין ואטדין תצמח לך ותיכול ית עסבא דחקלא:
wkwbyn waTdyn thtsmkh lk wthykwl yth esba dkhqla
It will yield thorns and thistles to you; and you will eat the herb of the field.
19
בזעתא דאפך תיכול לחמא עד דתיתוב לארעא דמנה אתבריתא ארי עפרא את ולעפרא תתוב:
bzetha dapk thykwl lkhma ed dthythwb larea dmnh athbrytha ary epra ath wlepra ththwb
You will eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust.”
20
וקרא אדם שום אתתה חוה ארי היא הות אמא דכל בני אנשא:
wqra adm shwm aththh khwh ary hya hwth ama dkl bny ansha
The man called his wife Eve because she would be the mother of all the living.
21
ועבד יי אלהים לאדם ולאתתה לבושין דיקר על משך בשריהון ואלבישינון:
webd yy alhym ladm wlaththh lbwshyn dyqr el mshk bshryhwn walbyshynwn
Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.
22
ואמר יי אלהים הא אדם הוה יחידי בעלמא מנה למידע טב וביש וכען דילמא יושיט ידה ויסב אף מאילן חייא ויכול ויחי לעלם:
wamr yy alhym ha adm hwh ykhydy belma mnh lmyde Tb wbysh wken dylma ywshyT ydh wysb ap mayln khyya wykwl wykhy lelm
Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever—”
23
ושלחה יי אלהים מגינתא דעדן למפלח ית אדמתא דאתברי מתמן:
wshlkhh yy alhym mgyntha dedn lmplkh yth admtha dathbry mthmn
Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
24
ותרך ית אדם ואשרי מלקדמין לגינתא דעדן ית כרוביא וית שנן חרבא דמתהפכא למיטר ית אורח אילן חייא:
wthrk yth adm washry mlqdmyn lgyntha dedn yth krwbya wyth shnn khrba dmthhpka lmyTr yth awrkh ayln khyya
So he drove out the man; and he placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
