1
וחויא הוה חכים מכל חות ברא די עבד יי אלהים ואמר לאתתא בקושטא ארי אמר יי לא תיכלון מכל אילן גינתא:
gyntha ayln mkl thyklwn la yy amr ary bqwshTa laththa wamr alhym yy ebd dy bra khwth mkl khkym hwh wkhwya
Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman, “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”

ואמרת אתתא לחויא מפירי אילן גינתא ניכול:
nykwl gyntha ayln mpyry lkhwya aththa wamrth
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden,

ומפירי אילנא די במציעות גינתא אמר יי לא תיכלון מנה ולא תקרבון בה דילמא תמותון:
thmwthwn dylma bh thqrbwn wla mnh thyklwn la yy amr gyntha bmtsyewth dy aylna wmpyry
but not the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it. You shall not touch it, lest you die.’”

ואמר חויא לאיתתא לא מות תמותון:
thmwthwn mwth la layththa khwya wamr
The serpent said to the woman, “You won’t really die,

ארי גלי קדם יי ארי ביומא דתיכלון מנה ויתפתחן עיניכון ותהון כרברבין חכימין בין טב לביש:
lbysh Tb byn khkymyn krbrbyn wthhwn eynykwn wythpthkhn mnh dthyklwn bywma ary yy qdm gly ary
for God knows that in the day you eat it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

וחזת אתתא ארי טב אילן למיכל וארי אסי הוא לעינין ומרגג אילנא לאסתכלא בה ונסיבת מאבה ואכלת ויהבת אף לבעלה עמה ואכל:
wakl emh lbelh ap wyhbth waklth mabh wnsybth bh lasthkla aylna wmrgg leynyn hwa asy wary lmykl ayln Tb ary aththa wkhzth
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took some of its fruit, and ate. Then she gave some to her husband with her, and he ate it, too.

ואתפתחא עיני תרויהון וידעו ארי ערטילאין אינון וחטיטו להון טרפי תאנין ועבדו להון זרזין:
zrzyn lhwn webdw thanyn Trpy lhwn wkhTyTw aynwn erTylayn ary wydew thrwyhwn eyny wathpthkha
Their eyes were opened, and they both knew that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together, and made coverings for themselves.

ושמעו ית קל מימרא דיי אלהים מהלך בגינתא למנח יומא ואיטמר אדם ואתתה מן קדם יי אלהים בגו אילן גינתא:
gyntha ayln bgw alhym yy qdm mn waththh adm wayTmr ywma lmnkh bgyntha mhlk alhym dyy mymra ql yth wshmew
They heard Yahweh God’s voice walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.

וקרא יי אלהים לאדם ואמר לה אן את:
ath an lh wamr ladm alhym yy wqra
Yahweh God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”

ואמר ית קל מימרך שמעית בגינתא ודחילית ארי ערטילאי אנא ואיטמרית:
wayTmryth ana erTylay ary wdkhylyth bgyntha shmeyth mymrk ql yth wamr
The man said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; so I hid myself.”

ואמר מן חוי לך ארי ערטילאי את המן אילנא דפקדתך בדיל דלא למיכל מנה אכלת:
aklth mnh lmykl dla bdyl dpqdthk aylna hmn ath erTylay ary lk khwy mn wamr
God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

ואמר האדם אתתא דיהבת עמי היא יהבת לי מן אילנא ואכלית:
waklyth aylna mn ly yhbth hya emy dyhbth aththa hadm wamr
The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

ואמר יי אלהים לאתתא מה דא עבדת ואמרת אתתא חויא אטעיני ואכלית:
waklyth aTeyny khwya aththa wamrth ebdth da mh laththa alhym yy wamr
Yahweh God said to the woman, “What have you done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

ואמר יי אלהים לחויא ארי עבדת דא ליט את מכל בעירא ומכל חות ברא על מעך תיזיל ועפרא תיכול כל יומי חייך:
khyyk ywmy kl thykwl wepra thyzyl mek el bra khwth wmkl beyra mkl ath lyT da ebdth ary lkhwya alhym yy wamr
Yahweh God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed above all livestock, and above every animal of the field. You shall go on your belly and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.

ודבבו אשוי בינך ובין אתתא ובין בנך ובין בנהה הוא יהי דכיר לך מה דעבדת לה מלקדמין ואת תהא נטיר לה לסופא:
lswpa lh nTyr thha wath mlqdmyn lh debdth mh lk dkyr yhy hwa bnhh wbyn bnk wbyn aththa wbyn bynk ashwy wdbbw
I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

לאתתא אמר אסגאה אסגי צעריכי ועדוייכי בצער תלדי בנין ולות בעלך תהא תאובתיך והוא ישלט בך:
bk yshlT whwa thawbthyk thha belk wlwth bnyn thldy btser wedwyyky tseryky asgy asgah amr laththa
To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth. You will bear children in pain. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

ולאדם אמר ארי קבילת למימר אתתך ואכלת מן אילנא די פקידתך למימר לא תיכול מנה ליטא ארעא בדילך בעמל תיכלינה כל יומי חייך:
khyyk ywmy kl thyklynh beml bdylk area lyTa mnh thykwl la lmymr pqydthk dy aylna mn waklth aththk lmymr qbylth ary amr wladm
To Adam he said, “Because you have listened to your wife’s voice, and have eaten from the tree, about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ the ground is cursed for your sake. You will eat from it with much labor all the days of your life.

וכובין ואטדין תצמח לך ותיכול ית עסבא דחקלא:
dkhqla esba yth wthykwl lk thtsmkh waTdyn wkwbyn
It will yield thorns and thistles to you; and you will eat the herb of the field.
19
בזעתא דאפך תיכול לחמא עד דתיתוב לארעא דמנה אתבריתא ארי עפרא את ולעפרא תתוב:
ththwb wlepra ath epra ary athbrytha dmnh larea dthythwb ed lkhma thykwl dapk bzetha
You will eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust.”

וקרא אדם שום אתתה חוה ארי היא הות אמא דכל בני אנשא:
ansha bny dkl ama hwth hya ary khwh aththh shwm adm wqra
The man called his wife Eve because she would be the mother of all the living.
21
ועבד יי אלהים לאדם ולאתתה לבושין דיקר על משך בשריהון ואלבישינון:
walbyshynwn bshryhwn mshk el dyqr lbwshyn wlaththh ladm alhym yy webd
Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.

ואמר יי אלהים הא אדם הוה יחידי בעלמא מנה למידע טב וביש וכען דילמא יושיט ידה ויסב אף מאילן חייא ויכול ויחי לעלם:
lelm wykhy wykwl khyya mayln ap wysb ydh ywshyT dylma wken wbysh Tb lmyde mnh belma ykhydy hwh adm ha alhym yy wamr
Yahweh God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand, and also take of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever—”

ושלחה יי אלהים מגינתא דעדן למפלח ית אדמתא דאתברי מתמן:
mthmn dathbry admtha yth lmplkh dedn mgyntha alhym yy wshlkhh
Therefore Yahweh God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
24
ותרך ית אדם ואשרי מלקדמין לגינתא דעדן ית כרוביא וית שנן חרבא דמתהפכא למיטר ית אורח אילן חייא:
khyya ayln awrkh yth lmyTr dmthhpka khrba shnn wyth krwbya yth dedn lgyntha mlqdmyn washry adm yth wthrk
So he drove out the man; and he placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
