1
וזקף יעקב עינוהי וחזא והא עשו אתא ועמיה ארבע מאה גברין ופליג ית בניא על לאה ועל רחל ועל תרתין לחינתא:
lkhyntha thrthyn wel rkhl wel lah el bnya yth wplyg gbryn mah arbe wemyh atha eshw wha wkhza eynwhy yeqb wzqp
Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Leah, Rachel, and the two servants.

ושוי ית לחינתא וית בניהן קדמאין וית לאה ובנהא בתראין וית רחל וית יוסף בתראין:
bthrayn ywsp wyth rkhl wyth bthrayn wbnha lah wyth qdmayn bnyhn wyth lkhyntha yth wshwy
He put the servants and their children in front, Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph at the rear.

והוא עבר קדמיהון וסגיד על ארעא שבע זמנין עד מקרביה עד אחוהי:
akhwhy ed mqrbyh ed zmnyn shbe area el wsgyd qdmyhwn ebr whwa
He himself passed over in front of them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

ורהט עשו לקדמותיה וגפפיה ונפל על צואריה ונשקיה ובכו:
wbkw wnshqyh tswaryh el wnpl wgppyh lqdmwthyh eshw wrhT
Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept.

וזקף ית עינוהי וחזא ית נשיא וית בניא ואמר מן אלין לך ואמר בניא די חס יי ית עבדך:
ebdk yth yy khs dy bnya wamr lk alyn mn wamr bnya wyth nshya yth wkhza eynwhy yth wzqp
He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, “Who are these with you?” He said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

וקריבת לחינתא אנין ובניהן וסגידא:
wsgyda wbnyhn anyn lkhyntha wqrybth
Then the servants came near with their children, and they bowed themselves.

וקריבא אף לאה ובנהא וסגידו ובתר כן קריב יוסף ורחל וסגידו:
wsgydw wrkhl ywsp qryb kn wbthr wsgydw wbnha lah ap wqryba
Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves. After them, Joseph came near with Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

ואמר מן לך כל משריתא הדין די ערעית ואמר לאשכחא רחמין בעיני רבוני:
rbwny beyny rkhmyn lashkkha wamr ereyth dy hdyn mshrytha kl lk mn wamr
Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” Jacob said, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.”

ואמר עשו אית לי סגי אחי אצלח בדילך:
bdylk atslkh akhy sgy ly ayth eshw wamr
Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours.”

ואמר יעקב בבעו אם כען אשכחית רחמין בעיניך ותקבל תקרבתי מן ידי ארי על כן חזתנון לאפיך כחיזו אפי רברביא ואתרעית לי:
ly wathreyth rbrbya apy kkhyzw lapyk khzthnwn kn el ary ydy mn thqrbthy wthqbl beynyk rkhmyn ashkkhyth ken am bbew yeqb wamr
Jacob said, “Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

קבל כען ית תקרבתי דאתותיאת לך ארי רחים עלי יי וארי אית לי כלא ואתקף ביה וקביל:
wqbyl byh wathqp kla ly ayth wary yy ely rkhym ary lk dathwthyath thqrbthy yth ken qbl
Please take the gift that I brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” He urged him, and he took it.

ואמר נטל וניהך ואיהך לקבלך:
lqblk wayhk wnyhk nTl wamr
Esau said, “Let’s take our journey, and let’s go, and I will go before you.”

ואמר ליה רבוני ידע ארי ינקיא רכיכין וענא ותורי מינקתא עלי ודחוקנון יומא חד וימותון כל ענא:
ena kl wymwthwn khd ywma wdkhwqnwn ely mynqtha wthwry wena rkykyn ynqya ary yde rbwny lyh wamr
Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.

יעבר כען רבוני קדם עבדיה ואנא אדבר בניח לרגל עובדתא די קדמי ולרגל ינקיא עד די אעול לות רבוני לשעיר:
lsheyr rbwny lwth aewl dy ed ynqya wlrgl qdmy dy ewbdtha lrgl bnykh adbr wana ebdyh qdm rbwny ken yebr
Please let my lord pass over before his servant, and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the livestock that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir.”

ואמר עשו אשבוק כען עמך מן עמא דעמי ואמר למא דנן אשכח רחמין בעיני רבוני:
rbwny beyny rkhmyn ashkkh dnn lma wamr demy ema mn emk ken ashbwq eshw wamr
Esau said, “Let me now leave with you some of the people who are with me.” He said, “Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.”

ותב ביומא ההוא עשו לארחיה לשעיר:
lsheyr larkhyh eshw hhwa bywma wthb
So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.

ויעקב נטל לסכות ובנא ליה ביתא ולבעיריה עבד מטלן על כן קרא שמא דאתרא סכות:
skwth dathra shma qra kn el mTln ebd wlbeyryh bytha lyh wbna lskwth nTl wyeqb
Jacob traveled to Succoth, built himself a house, and made shelters for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

ואתא יעקב שלים קרתא דשכם די בארעא דכנען במיתיה מפדן דארם ושרא לקבל קרתא:
qrtha lqbl wshra darm mpdn bmythyh dknen barea dy dshkm qrtha shlym yeqb watha
Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan Aram; and encamped before the city.

וזבן ית אחסנת חקלא די פרס תמן משכניה מידא דבני חמור אבוהי דשכם במאה חורפן:
khwrpn bmah dshkm abwhy khmwr dbny myda mshknyh thmn prs dy khqla akhsnth yth wzbn
He bought the parcel of ground where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for one hundred pieces of money.
