ושמע ית פתגמי בני לבן דאמרין נסיב יעקב ית כל די לאבונא ומדי לאבונא קנא ית כל נכסיא הדין:
hdyn nksya kl yth qna labwna wmdy labwna dy kl yth yeqb nsyb damryn lbn bny pthgmy yth wshme
Jacob heard Laban’s sons’ words, saying, “Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s. He has obtained all this wealth from that which was our father’s.”

וחזא יעקב ית סבר אפי לבן והא ליתוהי עמיה כמאתמלי ומדקמוהי:
wmdqmwhy kmathmly emyh lythwhy wha lbn apy sbr yth yeqb wkhza
Jacob saw the expression on Laban’s face, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

ואמר יי ליעקב תוב לארעא דאבהתך ולילדתך ויהי מימרי בסעדך:
bsedk mymry wyhy wlyldthk dabhthk larea thwb lyeqb yy wamr
Yahweh said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers, and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

ושלח יעקב וקרא לרחל וללאה לחקלא לות עניה:
enyh lwth lkhqla wllah lrkhl wqra yeqb wshlkh
Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flock,

ואמר להן חזי אנא ית סבר אפי אבוכן ארי ליתוהי עמי כמאתמלי ומדקמוהי ואלהה דאבא הוה בסעדי:
bsedy hwh daba walhh wmdqmwhy kmathmly emy lythwhy ary abwkn apy sbr yth ana khzy lhn wamr
and said to them, “I see the expression on your father’s face, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.

ואתין ידעתין ארי בכל חילי פלחית ית אבוכן:
abwkn yth plkhyth khyly bkl ary ydethyn wathyn
You know that I have served your father with all of my strength.
7
ואבוכן שקר בי ואשני ית אגרי עשר זמנין ולא שבקיה יי לאבאשא עמי:
emy labasha yy shbqyh wla zmnyn eshr agry yth washny by shqr wabwkn
Your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times, but God didn’t allow him to hurt me.

אם כדין הוה אמר נמורין יהא אגרך וילידן כל ענא נמורין ואם כדין הוה אמר רגולין יהא אגרך וילידן כל ענא רגולין:
rgwlyn ena kl wylydn agrk yha rgwlyn amr hwh kdyn wam nmwryn ena kl wylydn agrk yha nmwryn amr hwh kdyn am
If he said, ‘The speckled will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore speckled. If he said, ‘The streaked will be your wages,’ then all the flock bore streaked.

ואפרש יי ית גיתי דאבוכון ויהב לי:
ly wyhb dabwkwn gythy yth yy waprsh
Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock, and given them to me.

והוה בעדן דאתיחמא ענא וזקפית עיני וחזית בחלמא והא תישיא דסלקין על ענא רגולין נמורין ופציחין:
wptsykhyn nmwryn rgwlyn ena el dslqyn thyshya wha bkhlma wkhzyth eyny wzqpyth ena dathykhma bedn whwh
During mating season, I lifted up my eyes, and saw in a dream, and behold, the male goats which leaped on the flock were streaked, speckled, and grizzled.

ואמר לי מלאכא דיי בחלמא יעקב ואמרית הא אנא:
ana ha wamryth yeqb bkhlma dyy mlaka ly wamr
The angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob,’ and I said, ‘Here I am.’
12
ואמר זקוף כען עינך וחזי כל תישיא דסלקין על ענא רגולין נמורין ופציחין ארי גלי קדמי ית כל די לבן עבד לך:
lk ebd lbn dy kl yth qdmy gly ary wptsykhyn nmwryn rgwlyn ena el dslqyn thyshya kl wkhzy eynk ken zqwp wamr
He said, ‘Now lift up your eyes, and behold, all the male goats which leap on the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled, for I have seen all that Laban does to you.

אנא אלהא דאתגליתי עלך בבית אל די משחתא תמן קמא די קימתא קדמי תמן קים כען קום פוק מן ארעא הדא ותוב לארעא ילדותך:
yldwthk larea wthwb hda area mn pwq qwm ken qym thmn qdmy qymtha dy qma thmn mshkhtha dy al bbyth elk dathglythy alha ana
I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you vowed a vow to me. Now arise, get out from this land, and return to the land of your birth.’”

ואתיבת רחל ולאה ואמרן ליה העוד לנא חלק ואחסנא בבית אבונא:
abwna bbyth wakhsna khlq lna hewd lyh wamrn wlah rkhl wathybth
Rachel and Leah answered him, “Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father’s house?

הלא נוכראן אתחשבנא ליה ארי זבננא ואכל אף מיכל ית כספנא:
kspna yth mykl ap wakl zbnna ary lyh athkhshbna nwkran hla
Aren’t we considered as foreigners by him? For he has sold us, and has also used up our money.
16
ארי כל עותרא די אפרש יי מאבונא דילנא הוא ולבננא וכען כל די אמר יי לך עבד:
ebd lk yy amr dy kl wken wlbnna hwa dylna mabwna yy aprsh dy ewthra kl ary
For all the riches which God has taken away from our father are ours and our children’s. Now then, whatever God has said to you, do.”

וקם יעקב ונטל ית בנוהי וית נשוהי על גמליא:
gmlya el nshwhy wyth bnwhy yth wnTl yeqb wqm
Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives on the camels,
18
ודבר ית כל גיתוהי וית כל קניניה דקנא גיתי קניניה די קנא בפדן ארם למיתי לות יצחק אבוהי לארעא כנען:
knen larea abwhy ytskhq lwth lmythy arm bpdn qna dy qnynyh gythy dqna qnynyh kl wyth gythwhy kl yth wdbr
and he took away all his livestock, and all his possessions which he had gathered, including the livestock which he had gained in Paddan Aram, to go to Isaac his father, to the land of Canaan.

ולבן אזל למגז ית עניה וכסיאת רחל ית צלמניא די לאבוהא:
labwha dy tslmnya yth rkhl wksyath enyh yth lmgz azl wlbn
Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep; and Rachel stole the teraphim that were her father’s.
20
וכסי יעקב מן לבא דלבן ארמאה על דלא חוי ליה ארי אזל הוא:
hwa azl ary lyh khwy dla el armah dlbn lba mn yeqb wksy
Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he didn’t tell him that he was running away.
21
ואזל הוא וכל די ליה וקם ועבר ית פרת ושוי ית אפוהי לטורא דגלעד:
dgled lTwra apwhy yth wshwy prth yth webr wqm lyh dy wkl hwa wazl
So he fled with all that he had. He rose up, passed over the River, and set his face toward the mountain of Gilead.

ואתחוה ללבן ביומא תליתאה ארי אזל יעקב:
yeqb azl ary thlythah bywma llbn wathkhwh
Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.
23
ודבר ית אחוהי עמיה ורדף בתרוהי מהלך שבעת יומין ואדבק יתיה בטורא דגלעד:
dgled bTwra ythyh wadbq ywmyn shbeth mhlk bthrwhy wrdp emyh akhwhy yth wdbr
He took his relatives with him, and pursued him seven days’ journey. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

ואתא מימר מן קדם יי לות לבן ארמאה בחילמא דליליא ואמר ליה אסתמר לך דילמא תמליל עם יעקב מטב עד ביש:
bysh ed mTb yeqb em thmlyl dylma lk asthmr lyh wamr dlylya bkhylma armah lbn lwth yy qdm mn mymr watha
God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.”

ואדביק לבן ית יעקב ויעקב פרס ית משכניה בטורא ולבן אשרי ית אחוהי בטורא דגלעד:
dgled bTwra akhwhy yth ashry wlbn bTwra mshknyh yth prs wyeqb yeqb yth lbn wadbyq
Laban caught up with Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Laban with his relatives encamped in the mountain of Gilead.

ואמר לבן ליעקב מה עבדת וכסיתא מני ודברתא ית בנתי כשביות חרבא:
khrba kshbywth bnthy yth wdbrtha mny wksytha ebdth mh lyeqb lbn wamr
Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?

למה אטמרת למיזל וכסיתא מני ולא חויתא לי ושלחתך פון בחדוא ובתושבחן בתופין ובכנרין:
wbknryn bthwpyn wbthwshbkhn bkhdwa pwn wshlkhthk ly khwytha wla mny wksytha lmyzl aTmrth lmh
Why did you flee secretly, and deceive me, and didn’t tell me, that I might have sent you away with mirth and with songs, with tambourine and with harp;

ולא שבקתני לנשקא לבני ולבנתי כען אסכלתא למעבד:
lmebd askltha ken wlbnthy lbny lnshqa shbqthny wla
and didn’t allow me to kiss my sons and my daughters? Now you have done foolishly.

אית חילא בידי למעבד עמכון ביש ואלהא דאבוכון ברמשא אמר לי למימר אסתמר לך מלמללא עם יעקב מטב עד ביש:
bysh ed mTb yeqb em mlmlla lk asthmr lmymr ly amr brmsha dabwkwn walha bysh emkwn lmebd bydy khyla ayth
It is in the power of my hand to hurt you, but the God of your father spoke to me last night, saying, ‘Be careful that you don’t speak to Jacob either good or bad.’
30
וכען מיזל אזלת ארי חמדא חמדתא לבית אבוך למא נסבתא ית דחלתי:
dkhlthy yth nsbtha lma abwk lbyth khmdtha khmda ary azlth myzl wken
Now, you want to be gone, because you greatly longed for your father’s house, but why have you stolen my gods?”
31
ואתיב יעקב ואמר ללבן ארי דחילית ארי אמרית דילמא תניס ית בנתך מני:
mny bnthk yth thnys dylma amryth ary dkhylyth ary llbn wamr yeqb wathyb
Jacob answered Laban, “Because I was afraid, for I said, ‘Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.’

עם די תשכח ית דחלתך לא יתקים קדם אחנא אשתמודע לך מה דעמי וסב לך ולא ידע יעקב ארי רחל נסיבתהון:
nsybthhwn rkhl ary yeqb yde wla lk wsb demy mh lk ashthmwde akhna qdm ythqym la dkhlthk yth thshkkh dy em
Anyone you find your gods with shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it.” For Jacob didn’t know that Rachel had stolen them.
33
ועל לבן במשכנא דיעקב ובמשכנא דלאה ובמשכנא דתרתין לחינתא ולא אשכח ונפק ממשכנא דלאה ועל במשכנא דרחל:
drkhl bmshkna wel dlah mmshkna wnpq ashkkh wla lkhyntha dthrthyn wbmshkna dlah wbmshkna dyeqb bmshkna lbn wel
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, into Leah’s tent, and into the tent of the two female servants; but he didn’t find them. He went out of Leah’s tent, and entered into Rachel’s tent.
34
ורחל נסיבת ית צלמניא ושותנון בעביטא דגמלא ויתיבת עליהון ומשיש לבן ית כל משכנא ולא אשכח:
ashkkh wla mshkna kl yth lbn wmshysh elyhwn wythybth dgmla bebyTa wshwthnwn tslmnya yth nsybth wrkhl
Now Rachel had taken the teraphim, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn’t find them.

ואמרת לאבוהא לא יתקף בעיני רבוני ארי לא אכול למיקם מן קדמך ארי ארח נשין לי ובלש ולא אשכח ית צלמניא:
tslmnya yth ashkkh wla wblsh ly nshyn arkh ary qdmk mn lmyqm akwl la ary rbwny beyny ythqp la labwha wamrth
She said to her father, “Don’t let my lord be angry that I can’t rise up before you; for I’m having my period.” He searched, but didn’t find the teraphim.

ותקיף ליעקב ונצא עם לבן ואתיב יעקב ואמר ללבן מה חובי מה סורחני ארי רדפתא בתרי:
bthry rdptha ary swrkhny mh khwby mh llbn wamr yeqb wathyb lbn em wntsa lyeqb wthqyp
Jacob was angry, and argued with Laban. Jacob answered Laban, “What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have hotly pursued me?
37
ארי מששתא ית כל מני מה אשכחתא מכל מני ביתך שוי הכא קדם אחי ואחיך ויוכיחון בין תרונא:
thrwna byn wywkykhwn wakhyk akhy qdm hka shwy bythk mny mkl ashkkhtha mh mny kl yth mshshtha ary
Now that you have felt around in all my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my relatives and your relatives, that they may judge between us two.
38
דנן עסרין שנין אנא עמך רחלך ועזך לא אתכילו ודכרי ענך לא אכלית:
aklyth la enk wdkry athkylw la wezk rkhlk emk ana shnyn esryn dnn
“These twenty years I have been with you. Your ewes and your female goats have not cast their young, and I haven’t eaten the rams of your flocks.

דתבירא לא איתיתי לותך דהוה שגיא ממנינא מני את בעי לה נטרית ביממא ונטרית בליליא:
blylya wnTryth bymma nTryth lh bey ath mny mmnyna shgya dhwh lwthk aythythy la dthbyra
That which was torn of animals, I didn’t bring to you. I bore its loss. Of my hand you required it, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

הויתי ביממא אכלני שרבא וגלידא נחית עלי בליליא ונדד שנתי מעיני:
meyny shnthy wndd blylya ely nkhyth wglyda shrba aklny bymma hwythy
This was my situation: in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep fled from my eyes.
41
דנן לי עסרין שנין בביתך פלחתך ארבע עסרי שנין בתרתין בנתיך ושת שנין בענך ואשניתא ית אגרי עשר זמנין:
zmnyn eshr agry yth washnytha benk shnyn wshth bnthyk bthrthyn shnyn esry arbe plkhthk bbythk shnyn esryn ly dnn
These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.

אילולא פון אלהה דאבא אלהה דאברהם ודדחיל ליה יצחק הוה בסעדי ארי כען ריקן שלחתני ית עמלי וית ליאות ידי גלי קדם יי ואוכח ברמשא:
brmsha wawkkh yy qdm gly ydy lyawth wyth emly yth shlkhthny ryqn ken ary bsedy hwh ytskhq lyh wddkhyl dabrhm alhh daba alhh pwn aylwla
Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”
43
ואתיב לבן ואמר ליעקב בנתא בנתי ובניא בני וענא עני וכל די את חזי דילי הוא ולבנתי מה אעביד לאלין יומא דין או לבניהן דילידן:
dylydn lbnyhn aw dyn ywma lalyn aebyd mh wlbnthy hwa dyly khzy ath dy wkl eny wena bny wbnya bnthy bntha lyeqb wamr lbn wathyb
Laban answered Jacob, “The daughters are my daughters, the children are my children, the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine! What can I do today to these my daughters, or to their children whom they have borne?

וכען אתא נגזר קים אנא ואת ויהי לסהיד ביני ובינך:
wbynk byny lshyd wyhy wath ana qym ngzr atha wken
Now come, let’s make a covenant, you and I. Let it be for a witness between me and you.”
45
ונסיב יעקב אבנא וזקפה קמא:
qma wzqph abna yeqb wnsyb
Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.
46
ואמר יעקב לאחוהי לקוטו אבנין ונסיבו אבנין ועבדו דגורא ואכלו תמן על דגורא:
dgwra el thmn waklw dgwra webdw abnyn wnsybw abnyn lqwTw lakhwhy yeqb wamr
Jacob said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” They took stones, and made a heap. They ate there by the heap.

וקרא ליה לבן יגר שהדותא ויעקב קרא ליה גלעד:
gled lyh qra wyeqb shhdwtha ygr lbn lyh wqra
Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, but Jacob called it Galeed.
48
ואמר לבן דגורא הדין סהיד ביני ובינך יומא דין על כן קרא שמיה גלעד:
gled shmyh qra kn el dyn ywma wbynk byny shyd hdyn dgwra lbn wamr
Laban said, “This heap is witness between me and you today.” Therefore it was named Galeed

וסכותא די אמר יסך מימרא דיי ביני ובינך ארי נתכסי גבר מחבריה:
mkhbryh gbr nthksy ary wbynk byny dyy mymra ysk amr dy wskwtha
and Mizpah, for he said, “Yahweh watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.

אם תעני ית בנתי ואם תסב נשין על בנתי לית אנש עמנא חזי מימרא דיי סהיד ביני ובינך:
wbynk byny shyd dyy mymra khzy emna ansh lyth bnthy el nshyn thsb wam bnthy yth theny am
If you afflict my daughters, or if you take wives in addition to my daughters, no man is with us; behold, God is witness between me and you.”

ואמר לבן ליעקב הא דגורא הדין והא קמתא די אקימית ביני ובינך:
wbynk byny aqymyth dy qmtha wha hdyn dgwra ha lyeqb lbn wamr
Laban said to Jacob, “See this heap, and see the pillar, which I have set between me and you.

סהיד דגורא הדין וסהדא קמא אם אנא לא אעבר לותך ית דגורא הדין ואם את לא תעבר לותי ית דגורא הדין וית קמתא הדא לבישו:
lbyshw hda qmtha wyth hdyn dgwra yth lwthy thebr la ath wam hdyn dgwra yth lwthk aebr la ana am qma wshda hdyn dgwra shyd
May this heap be a witness, and the pillar be a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.

אלהה דאברהם ואלהה דנחור ידונון ביננא אלהה דאבוהון וקיים יעקב בדדחיל ליה אבוהי יצחק:
ytskhq abwhy lyh bddkhyl yeqb wqyym dabwhwn alhh bynna ydwnwn dnkhwr walhh dabrhm alhh
The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” Then Jacob swore by the fear of his father, Isaac.
