וחזת רחל ארי לא ילידת ליעקב וקניאת רחל באחתה ואמרת ליעקב הב לי בנין ואם לא מיתא אנא:
ana mytha la wam bnyn ly hb lyeqb wamrth bakhthh rkhl wqnyath lyeqb ylydth la ary rkhl wkhzth
When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I will die.”

ותקיף רוגזא דיעקב ברחל ואמר הא מני את בעיא הלא מן קדם יי תבעין די מנע מניך ולדא דמעין:
dmeyn wlda mnyk mne dy thbeyn yy qdm mn hla beya ath mny ha wamr brkhl dyeqb rwgza wthqyp
Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in God’s place, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

ואמרת הא אמתי בלהה עול לותה ותליד ואנא ארבי ואתבני אף אנא מנה:
mnh ana ap wathbny arby wana wthlyd lwthh ewl blhh amthy ha wamrth
She said, “Behold, my maid Bilhah. Go in to her, that she may bear on my knees, and I also may obtain children by her.”

ויהבת ליה ית בלהה אמתה לאנתו ועל לותה יעקב:
yeqb lwthh wel lanthw amthh blhh yth lyh wyhbth
She gave him Bilhah her servant as wife, and Jacob went in to her.
5
ועדיאת בלהה וילידת ליעקב בר:
br lyeqb wylydth blhh wedyath
Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.
6
ואמרת רחל דנני יי ואף קביל צלותי ויהב לי בר על כן קרת שמיה דן:
dn shmyh qrth kn el br ly wyhb tslwthy qbyl wap yy dnny rkhl wamrth
Rachel said, “God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan.

ועדיאת עוד וילידת בלהה אמתא דרחל בר תנין ליעקב:
lyeqb thnyn br drkhl amtha blhh wylydth ewd wedyath
Bilhah, Rachel’s servant, conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.

ואמרת רחל קביל יי בעותי באתחננותי בצלותי חמידת דיהי לי ולד כאחתי אף אתיהיב לי וקרת שמיה נפתלי:

Rachel said, “I have wrestled with my sister with mighty wrestlings, and have prevailed.” She named him Naphtali.

וחזת לאה ארי קמת מלמילד ודברת ית זלפה אמתה ויהבת יתה ליעקב לאנתו:
lanthw lyeqb ythh wyhbth amthh zlph yth wdbrth mlmyld qmth ary lah wkhzth
When Leah saw that she had finished bearing, she took Zilpah, her servant, and gave her to Jacob as a wife.

וילידת זלפה אמתא דלאה ליעקב בר:
br lyeqb dlah amtha zlph wylydth
Zilpah, Leah’s servant, bore Jacob a son.

ואמרת לאה אתא גד וקרת ית שמיה גד:
gd shmyh yth wqrth gd atha lah wamrth
Leah said, “How fortunate!” She named him Gad.

וילידת זלפה אמתא דלאה בר תנין ליעקב:
lyeqb thnyn br dlah amtha zlph wylydth
Zilpah, Leah’s servant, bore Jacob a second son.
13
ואמרת לאה תשבחתא הות לי ארי בכן ישבחנני נשיא וקרת ית שמיה אשר:
ashr shmyh yth wqrth nshya yshbkhnny bkn ary ly hwth thshbkhtha lah wamrth
Leah said, “Happy am I, for the daughters will call me happy.” She named him Asher.

ואזל ראובן ביומי חצד חטין ואשכח יברוחין בחקלא ואיתי יתהון ללאה אמיה ואמרת רחל ללאה הבי כען לי מיברוחי דבריך:
dbryk mybrwkhy ly ken hby llah rkhl wamrth amyh llah ythhwn waythy bkhqla ybrwkhyn washkkh khTyn khtsd bywmy rawbn wazl
Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother, Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”

ואמרת לה הזעיר דדברת ית בעלי ותסבין אף ית יברוחי דברי ואמרת רחל בכן ישכוב עמך בליליא חלף יברוחי דבריך:
dbryk ybrwkhy khlp blylya emk yshkwb bkn rkhl wamrth dbry ybrwkhy yth ap wthsbyn bely yth ddbrth hzeyr lh wamrth
Leah said to her, “Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son’s mandrakes, also?” Rachel said, “Therefore he will lie with you tonight for your son’s mandrakes.”

ואתא יעקב מן חקלא ברמשא ונפקת לאה לקדמותיה ואמרת לותי תיעול ארי מיגר אגרתיך ביברוחי דברי ושכיב עמה בליליא הוא:
hwa blylya emh wshkyb dbry bybrwkhy agrthyk mygr ary thyewl lwthy wamrth lqdmwthyh lah wnpqth brmsha khqla mn yeqb watha
Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, “You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” He lay with her that night.

וקביל יי צלותה דלאה ועדיאת וילידת ליעקב בר חמישאי:
khmyshay br lyeqb wylydth wedyath dlah tslwthh yy wqbyl
God listened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.
18
ואמרת לאה יהב יי אגרי דיהבית אמתי לבעלי וקרת שמיה יששכר:
yshshkr shmyh wqrth lbely amthy dyhbyth agry yy yhb lah wamrth
Leah said, “God has given me my hire, because I gave my servant to my husband.” She named him Issachar.

ועדיאת עוד לאה וילידת בר שתיתאי ליעקב:
lyeqb shthythay br wylydth lah ewd wedyath
Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.
20
ואמרת לאה יהב יי יתיה לי חלק טב הדא זמנא יהי מדוריה דבעלי לותי ארי ילידית ליה שתא בנין וקרת ית שמיה זבלון:
zblwn shmyh yth wqrth bnyn shtha lyh ylydyth ary lwthy dbely mdwryh yhy zmna hda Tb khlq ly ythyh yy yhb lah wamrth
Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will live with me, because I have borne him six sons.” She named him Zebulun.

ובתר כן ילידת ברתא וקרת ית שמה דינה:
dynh shmh yth wqrth brtha ylydth kn wbthr
Afterwards, she bore a daughter, and named her Dinah.
22
ועל דוכרנא דרחל קדם יי וקביל צלותה יי ויהב לה עדוי:
edwy lh wyhb yy tslwthh wqbyl yy qdm drkhl dwkrna wel
God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb.
23
ועדיאת וילידת בר ואמרת כנש יי ית חסודי:
khswdy yth yy knsh wamrth br wylydth wedyath
She conceived, bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.”
24
וקרת ית שמיה יוסף למימר יוסף יי לי בר אחרן:
akhrn br ly yy ywsp lmymr ywsp shmyh yth wqrth
She named him Joseph, saying, “May Yahweh add another son to me.”
25
והוה כד ילידת רחל ית יוסף ואמר יעקב ללבן שלחני ואיהך לאתרי ולארעי:
wlarey lathry wayhk shlkhny llbn yeqb wamr ywsp yth rkhl ylydth kd whwh
When Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own place, and to my country.

הב ית נשי וית בני די פלחית יתך בהן ואזיל ארי את ידעת ית פלחני דפלחתך:
dplkhthk plkhny yth ydeth ath ary wazyl bhn ythk plkhyth dy bny wyth nshy yth hb
Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go; for you know my service with which I have served you.”

ואמר ליה לבן אם כען אשכחית רחמין קדמך נסיתי וברכני יי בדילך:
bdylk yy wbrkny nsythy qdmk rkhmyn ashkkhyth ken am lbn lyh wamr
Laban said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, stay here, for I have divined that Yahweh has blessed me for your sake.”

ואמר פריש אגרך עלי ואתן:
wathn ely agrk prysh wamr
He said, “Appoint me your wages, and I will give it.”
29
ואמר ליה את ידעת ית דפלחתך וית דהוה בעירך עמי:
emy beyrk dhwh wyth dplkhthk yth ydeth ath lyh wamr
Jacob said to him, “You know how I have served you, and how your livestock have fared with me.
30
ארי זעיר די הוה לך קדמי ותקיף למסגי ובריך יי יתך בדילי וכען אימתי אעביד אף אנא לביתי:
lbythy ana ap aebyd aymthy wken bdyly ythk yy wbryk lmsgy wthqyp qdmy lk hwh dy zeyr ary
For it was little which you had before I came, and it has increased to a multitude. Yahweh has blessed you wherever I turned. Now when will I provide for my own house also?”
31
ואמר מה אתן לך ואמר יעקב לא תתן לי מדעם אם תעבד לי פתגמא הדין אתוב ארעי ענך אטר:
aTr enk arey athwb hdyn pthgma ly thebd am mdem ly ththn la yeqb wamr lk athn mh wamr
Laban said, “What shall I give you?” Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything. If you will do this thing for me, I will again feed your flock and keep it.

אעבר בכל ענך יומא דין העדי מתמן כל אמר נמור ורקוע וכל אמר שחום באמריא ורקוע ונמור בעזיא ויהי אגרי:
agry wyhy bezya wnmwr wrqwe bamrya shkhwm amr wkl wrqwe nmwr amr kl mthmn hedy dyn ywma enk bkl aebr
I will pass through all your flock today, removing from there every speckled and spotted one, and every black one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats. This will be my hire.

ותסהד בי זכותי ביום דמחר ארי תיעול על אגרי קדמך כל די ליתוהי נמור ורקוע בעזיא ושחום באמריא גנובא הוא עמי:
emy hwa gnwba bamrya wshkhwm bezya wrqwe nmwr lythwhy dy kl qdmk agry el thyewl ary dmkhr bywm zkwthy by wthshd
So my righteousness will answer for me hereafter, when you come concerning my hire that is before you. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and black among the sheep, that might be with me, will be considered stolen.”

ואמר לבן ברם לוי יהי כפתגמך:
kpthgmk yhy lwy brm lbn wamr
Laban said, “Behold, let it be according to your word.”
35
ואעדי ביומא ההוא ית תישיא רגוליא ורקועיא וית כל עזיא נמורתא ורקועתא כל די חור ביה וכל דשחום באמריא ויהב ביד בנוהי:
bnwhy byd wyhb bamrya dshkhwm wkl byh khwr dy kl wrqwetha nmwrtha ezya kl wyth wrqweya rgwlya thyshya yth hhwa bywma waedy
That day, he removed the male goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the black ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.
36
ושוי מהלך תלתא יומין בינוהי ובין יעקב ויעקב רעי ית ענא דלבן דאשתארן:
dashtharn dlbn ena yth rey wyeqb yeqb wbyn bynwhy ywmyn thltha mhlk wshwy
He set three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.

ונסיב ליה יעקב חוטרין דלבן רטיבין דדלוז ודדלוף וקליף בהון קלפין חורין קלוף חור די על חוטריא:
khwTrya el dy khwr qlwp khwryn qlpyn bhwn wqlyp wddlwp ddlwz rTybyn dlbn khwTryn yeqb lyh wnsyb
Jacob took to himself rods of fresh poplar, almond, and plane tree, peeled white streaks in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.

ודעיץ ית חוטריא די קליף ברהטיא אתר בית שקיא דמיא אתר דאתן ענא למשתי לקבלהון דענא ומתיחמן במיתיהון למשתי:
lmshthy bmythyhwn wmthykhmn dena lqblhwn lmshthy ena dathn athr dmya shqya byth athr brhTya qlyp dy khwTrya yth wdeyts
He set the rods which he had peeled opposite the flocks in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink. They conceived when they came to drink.
39
ואתיחמא ענא בחוטריא וילידא ענא רגולין נמורין ורקועין:
wrqweyn nmwryn rgwlyn ena wylyda bkhwTrya ena wathykhma
The flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks produced streaked, speckled, and spotted.
40
ואמריא אפרש יעקב ויהב בריש ענא כל דרגול וכל דשחום בענא דלבן ושוי ליה עדרין בלחודוהי ולא ערבנון עם ענא דלבן:
dlbn ena em erbnwn wla blkhwdwhy edryn lyh wshwy dlbn bena dshkhwm wkl drgwl kl ena brysh wyhb yeqb aprsh wamrya
Jacob separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the streaked and all the black in Laban’s flock. He put his own droves apart, and didn’t put them into Laban’s flock.
41
והוי בכל עדן דמתיחמן ענא מבכרתא ומשוי יעקב ית חוטריא לעיני ענא ברהטיא ליחמותהון בחוטריא:
bkhwTrya lykhmwthhwn brhTya ena leyny khwTrya yth yeqb wmshwy mbkrtha ena dmthykhmn edn bkl whwy
Whenever the stronger of the flock conceived, Jacob laid the rods in front of the eyes of the flock in the watering troughs, that they might conceive among the rods;

ובלקישות ענא לא משוי והוו לקשיא ללבן ובכיריא ליעקב:
lyeqb wbkyrya llbn lqshya whww mshwy la ena wblqyshwth
but when the flock were feeble, he didn’t put them in. So the feebler were Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.
