ואשתכללו שמיא וארעא וכל חיליהון:

The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.

ושיצי יי ביומא שביעאה עבדתה די עבד ונח ביומא שביעאה מכל עבדתה די עבד:
wshytsy yy bywma shbyeah ebdthh dy ebd wnkh bywma shbyeah mkl ebdthh dy ebd
On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.

ובריך יי ית יומא שביעאה וקדיש יתה ארי בה נח מכל עבדתה די ברא יי למעבד:
wbryk yy yth ywma shbyeah wqdysh ythh ary bh nkh mkl ebdthh dy bra yy lmebd
God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.

אלין תולדת שמיא וארעא כד אתבריאו ביומא די עבד יי אלהים ארעא ושמיא:
alyn thwldth shmya warea kd athbryaw bywma dy ebd yy alhym area wshmya
This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens.

וכל אילני חקלא עד לא הוו בארעא וכל עסבא דחקלא עד לא צמח ארי לא אחית מטרא יי אלהים על ארעא ואנש לית למפלח ית אדמתא:
wkl aylny khqla ed la hww barea wkl esba dkhqla ed la tsmkh ary la akhyth mTra yy alhym el area wansh lyth lmplkh yth admtha
No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,

ועננא הוה סליק מן ארעא ואשקי ית כל אפי אדמתא:
wenna hwh slyq mn area washqy yth kl apy admtha
but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.

וברא יי אלהים ית אדם עפרא מן אדמתא ונפח באפוהי נשמתא דחיי והות באדם לרוח ממללא:
wbra yy alhym yth adm epra mn admtha wnpkh bapwhy nshmtha dkhyy whwth badm lrwkh mmlla
Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

ונציב יי אלהים גינתא בעדן מלקדמין ואשוי תמן ית אדם די ברא:
wntsyb yy alhym gyntha bedn mlqdmyn washwy thmn yth adm dy bra
Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

ואצמח יי אלהים מן ארעא כל אילן דמרגג למחזי וטב למיכל ואילן חיא במציעות גינתא ואילן דאכלין פירוהי חכימין בין טב לביש:
watsmkh yy alhym mn area kl ayln dmrgg lmkhzy wTb lmykl wayln khya bmtsyewth gyntha wayln daklyn pyrwhy khkymyn byn Tb lbysh
Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

ונהרא הוה נפיק מעדן לאשקאה ית גינתא ומתמן יתפרש והוי לארבעה רישי נהרין:
wnhra hwh npyq medn lashqah yth gyntha wmthmn ythprsh whwy larbeh ryshy nhryn
A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.

שום חד פישון הוא מקיף ית כל ארע דחוילה די תמן דהבא:
shwm khd pyshwn hwa mqyp yth kl are dkhwylh dy thmn dhba
The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

ודהבא דארעא ההיא טב תמן בדלחא ואבני בורלא:
wdhba darea hhya Tb thmn bdlkha wabny bwrla
and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.

ושום נהרא תנינא גיחון הוא מקיף ית כל ארעא דכוש:
wshwm nhra thnyna gykhwn hwa mqyp yth kl area dkwsh
The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.

ושום נהרא תליתאה דיגלת הוא מהלך למדינחא דאתור ונהרא רביעאה הוא פרת:
wshwm nhra thlythah dyglth hwa mhlk lmdynkha dathwr wnhra rbyeah hwa prth
The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

ודבר יי אלהים ית אדם ואשריה בגינתא דעדן למפלחה ולמטרה:
wdbr yy alhym yth adm washryh bgyntha dedn lmplkhh wlmTrh
Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16
ופקיד יי אלהים על אדם למימר מכל אילן גינתא מיכל תיכול:
wpqyd yy alhym el adm lmymr mkl ayln gyntha mykl thykwl
Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;

ומאילן דאכלין פירוהי חכימין בין טב לביש לא תיכול מנה ארי ביומא דתיכול מנה מימת תמות:
wmayln daklyn pyrwhy khkymyn byn Tb lbysh la thykwl mnh ary bywma dthykwl mnh mymth thmwth
but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”

ואמר יי אלהים לא תקין למהוי אדם בלחודוהי אעבד לה סמך לקבלה:
wamr yy alhym la thqyn lmhwy adm blkhwdwhy aebd lh smk lqblh
Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

וברא יי אלהים מן ארעא כל חות ברא וית כל עופא דשמיא ואיתה לות אדם למחזי מה יקרי לה וכל די הוה קרי לה אדם נפשא חיתא הוא שמה:
wbra yy alhym mn area kl khwth bra wyth kl ewpa dshmya waythh lwth adm lmkhzy mh yqry lh wkl dy hwh qry lh adm npsha khytha hwa shmh
Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.

וקרא אדם שמהן לכל בעירא ולעופא דשמיא ולכל חות ברא ולאדם לא אשכח סמך לקבלה:
wqra adm shmhn lkl beyra wlewpa dshmya wlkl khwth bra wladm la ashkkh smk lqblh
The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.

ורמא יי אלהים שינתא על אדם ודמך ונסיב חדא מעלעוהי ומלי בשרא תחותה:
wrma yy alhym shyntha el adm wdmk wnsyb khda melewhy wmly bshra thkhwthh
Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

ובנא יי אלהים ית עלעא דנסיב מן אדם לאתתא ואיתה לות אדם:
wbna yy alhym yth elea dnsyb mn adm laththa waythh lwth adm
Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

ואמר האדם הדא זמנא גרמא מגרמי ובסרא מבסרי לדא יתקרי אתתא ארי מבעלא נסיבא דא:
wamr hadm hda zmna grma mgrmy wbsra mbsry lda ythqry aththa ary mbela nsyba da
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”

על כן ישבוק גבר בית משכבי אבוהי ואמה וידבק באתתה ויהון לבסרא חד:
el kn yshbwq gbr byth mshkby abwhy wamh wydbq baththh wyhwn lbsra khd
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
25
והוו תרויהון ערטילאין אדם ואתתה ולא מתכלמין:
whww thrwyhwn erTylayn adm waththh wla mthklmyn
The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
