1
והוה בתר פתגמיא האלין ויי נסי ית אברהם ואמר ליה אברהם ואמר הא אנא:
ana ha wamr abrhm lyh wamr abrhm yth nsy wyy halyn pthgmya bthr whwh
After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

ואמר דבר כען ית ברך ית יחידך די רחמת ית יצחק ואיזל לך לארעא פולחנא ואסקיה קדמי תמן לעלתא על חד מן טוריא די אימר לך:
lk aymr dy Twrya mn khd el leltha thmn qdmy wasqyh pwlkhna larea lk wayzl ytskhq yth rkhmth dy ykhydk yth brk yth ken dbr wamr
He said, “Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

ואקדים אברהם בצפרא וזרז ית חמריה ודבר ית תרין עולימוהי עמיה וית יצחק בריה וצלח אעי לעלתא וקם ואזל לאתרא די אמר ליה יי:
yy lyh amr dy lathra wazl wqm leltha aey wtslkh bryh ytskhq wyth emyh ewlymwhy thryn yth wdbr khmryh yth wzrz btspra abrhm waqdym
Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey; and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

ביומא תליתאה וזקף אברהם ית עינוהי וחזא ית אתרא מרחיק:
mrkhyq athra yth wkhza eynwhy yth abrhm wzqp thlythah bywma
On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.

ואמר אברהם לעולימוהי אוריכו לכון הכא עם חמרא ואנא ועולימא נתמטי עד כא ונסגוד ונתוב לותכון:
lwthkwn wnthwb wnsgwd ka ed nthmTy wewlyma wana khmra em hka lkwn awrykw lewlymwhy abrhm wamr
Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there. We will worship, and come back to you.”

ונסיב אברהם ית אעי דעלתא ושוי על יצחק בריה ונסיב בידיה ית אשתא וית סכינא ואזלו תרויהון בתרא :
bthra thrwyhwn wazlw skyna wyth ashtha yth bydyh wnsyb bryh ytskhq el wshwy deltha aey yth abrhm wnsyb
Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

ואמר יצחק לאברהם אבוהי ואמר אבא ואמר הא אנא ברי ואמר הא אשתא ואעיא ואן אימרא לעלתא:
leltha aymra wan waeya ashtha ha wamr bry ana ha wamr aba wamr abwhy labrhm ytskhq wamr
Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

ואמר אברהם קדם יי גלי ליה אימרא לעלתא ברי ואזלו תרויהון כחדא:
kkhda thrwyhwn wazlw bry leltha aymra lyh gly yy qdm abrhm wamr
Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

ואתו לאתרא די אמר ליה יי ובנא תמן אברהם ית מדבחא וסדר ית אעיא ועקד ית יצחק בריה ושוי יתיה על מדבחא עיל מן אעיא:
aeya mn eyl mdbkha el ythyh wshwy bryh ytskhq yth weqd aeya yth wsdr mdbkha yth abrhm thmn wbna yy lyh amr dy lathra wathw
They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

ואושיט אברהם ית ידיה ונסיב ית סכינא למיכס ית בריה:
bryh yth lmyks skyna yth wnsyb ydyh yth abrhm wawshyT
Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

וקרא ליה מלאכא דיי מן שמיא ואמר אברהם אברהם ואמר הא אנא:
ana ha wamr abrhm abrhm wamr shmya mn dyy mlaka lyh wqra
Yahweh’s angel called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

ואמר לא תושיט ידך לעולימא ולא תעבד ליה מדעם ארי כען ידענא ארי דחלא דיי את ולא מנעת ית ברך ית יחידך מני:
mny ykhydk yth brk yth mneth wla ath dyy dkhla ary ydena ken ary mdem lyh thebd wla lewlyma ydk thwshyT la wamr
He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

וזקף אברהם ית עינוהי בתר אלין וחזא והא דכרא בתר אחיד באילנא בקרנוהי ואזל אברהם ונסיב ית דכרא ואסקיה לעלתא חלף בריה:
bryh khlp leltha wasqyh dkra yth wnsyb abrhm wazl bqrnwhy baylna akhyd bthr dkra wha wkhza alyn bthr eynwhy yth abrhm wzqp
Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

ופלח וצלי אברהם תמן באתרא ההוא ואמר קדם יי הכא יהון פלחן דריא בכן יתאמר ביומא הדין בטורא הדין אברהם קדם יי פלח:
plkh yy qdm abrhm hdyn bTwra hdyn bywma ythamr bkn drya plkhn yhwn hka yy qdm wamr hhwa bathra thmn abrhm wtsly wplkh
Abraham called the name of that place “Yahweh Will Provide”. As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”

וקרא מלאכא דיי לאברהם תנינות מן שמיא:
shmya mn thnynwth labrhm dyy mlaka wqra
Yahweh’s angel called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,
16
ואמר במימרי קימית אמר יי ארי חלף די עבדתא ית פתגמא הדין ולא מנעתא ית ברך ית יחידך:
ykhydk yth brk yth mnetha wla hdyn pthgma yth ebdtha dy khlp ary yy amr qymyth bmymry wamr
and said, “‘I have sworn by myself,’ says Yahweh, ‘because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

ארי ברכא אברכנך ואסגאה אסגי ית בנך ככוכבי שמיא וכחלא די על כיף ימא וירתון בנך ית קרוי סנאיהון:
snayhwn qrwy yth bnk wyrthwn yma kyp el dy wkkhla shmya kkwkby bnk yth asgy wasgah abrknk brka ary
that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your offspring greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the gate of his enemies.

ויתברכון בדיל בנך כל עממיא דארעא חלף די קבלתא למימרי:
lmymry qbltha dy khlp darea emmya kl bnk bdyl wythbrkwn
All the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring, because you have obeyed my voice.’”

ותב אברהם לות עולימוהי וקמו ואזלו כחדא לבאר שבע ויתיב אברהם בבאר שבע:
shbe bbar abrhm wythyb shbe lbar kkhda wazlw wqmw ewlymwhy lwth abrhm wthb
So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.

והוה בתר פתגמיא האלין ואתחוא לאברהם למימר הא ילידת מלכה אף היא בנין לנחור אחוך:
akhwk lnkhwr bnyn hya ap mlkh ylydth ha lmymr labrhm wathkhwa halyn pthgmya bthr whwh
After these things, Abraham was told, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:

ית עוץ בוכריה וית בוז אחוהי וית קמואל אבוהי דארם:
darm abwhy qmwal wyth akhwhy bwz wyth bwkryh ewts yth
Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,
22
וית כשד וית חזו וית פלדש וית ידלף וית בתואל:
bthwal wyth ydlp wyth pldsh wyth khzw wyth kshd wyth
Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”

ובתואל אוליד ית רבקה תמניא אלין ילידת מלכה לנחור אחוהי דאברהם:
dabrhm akhwhy lnkhwr mlkh ylydth alyn thmnya rbqh yth awlyd wbthwal
Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.
