1
ואשתכללו שמיא וארעא וכל חיליהון:
khylyhwn wkl warea shmya washthkllw
The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.
2
ושיצי יי ביומא שביעאה עבדתה די עבד ונח ביומא שביעאה מכל עבדתה די עבד:
ebd dy ebdthh mkl shbyeah bywma wnkh ebd dy ebdthh shbyeah bywma yy wshytsy
On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.

ובריך יי ית יומא שביעאה וקדיש יתה ארי בה נח מכל עבדתה די ברא יי למעבד:
lmebd yy bra dy ebdthh mkl nkh bh ary ythh wqdysh shbyeah ywma yth yy wbryk
God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.

אלין תולדת שמיא וארעא כד אתבריאו ביומא די עבד יי אלהים ארעא ושמיא:
wshmya area alhym yy ebd dy bywma athbryaw kd warea shmya thwldth alyn
This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens.

וכל אילני חקלא עד לא הוו בארעא וכל עסבא דחקלא עד לא צמח ארי לא אחית מטרא יי אלהים על ארעא ואנש לית למפלח ית אדמתא:
admtha yth lmplkh lyth wansh area el alhym yy mTra akhyth la ary tsmkh la ed dkhqla esba wkl barea hww la ed khqla aylny wkl
No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for Yahweh God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,

ועננא הוה סליק מן ארעא ואשקי ית כל אפי אדמתא:
admtha apy kl yth washqy area mn slyq hwh wenna
but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.

וברא יי אלהים ית אדם עפרא מן אדמתא ונפח באפוהי נשמתא דחיי והות באדם לרוח ממללא:
mmlla lrwkh badm whwth dkhyy nshmtha bapwhy wnpkh admtha mn epra adm yth alhym yy wbra
Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

ונציב יי אלהים גינתא בעדן מלקדמין ואשוי תמן ית אדם די ברא:
bra dy adm yth thmn washwy mlqdmyn bedn gyntha alhym yy wntsyb
Yahweh God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.

ואצמח יי אלהים מן ארעא כל אילן דמרגג למחזי וטב למיכל ואילן חיא במציעות גינתא ואילן דאכלין פירוהי חכימין בין טב לביש:
lbysh Tb byn khkymyn pyrwhy daklyn wayln gyntha bmtsyewth khya wayln lmykl wTb lmkhzy dmrgg ayln kl area mn alhym yy watsmkh
Out of the ground Yahweh God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

ונהרא הוה נפיק מעדן לאשקאה ית גינתא ומתמן יתפרש והוי לארבעה רישי נהרין:
nhryn ryshy larbeh whwy ythprsh wmthmn gyntha yth lashqah medn npyq hwh wnhra
A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.

שום חד פישון הוא מקיף ית כל ארע דחוילה די תמן דהבא:
dhba thmn dy dkhwylh are kl yth mqyp hwa pyshwn khd shwm
The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

ודהבא דארעא ההיא טב תמן בדלחא ואבני בורלא:
bwrla wabny bdlkha thmn Tb hhya darea wdhba
and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.

ושום נהרא תנינא גיחון הוא מקיף ית כל ארעא דכוש:
dkwsh area kl yth mqyp hwa gykhwn thnyna nhra wshwm
The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.

ושום נהרא תליתאה דיגלת הוא מהלך למדינחא דאתור ונהרא רביעאה הוא פרת:
prth hwa rbyeah wnhra dathwr lmdynkha mhlk hwa dyglth thlythah nhra wshwm
The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.

ודבר יי אלהים ית אדם ואשריה בגינתא דעדן למפלחה ולמטרה:
wlmTrh lmplkhh dedn bgyntha washryh adm yth alhym yy wdbr
Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16
ופקיד יי אלהים על אדם למימר מכל אילן גינתא מיכל תיכול:
thykwl mykl gyntha ayln mkl lmymr adm el alhym yy wpqyd
Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;

ומאילן דאכלין פירוהי חכימין בין טב לביש לא תיכול מנה ארי ביומא דתיכול מנה מימת תמות:
thmwth mymth mnh dthykwl bywma ary mnh thykwl la lbysh Tb byn khkymyn pyrwhy daklyn wmayln
but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”

ואמר יי אלהים לא תקין למהוי אדם בלחודוהי אעבד לה סמך לקבלה:
lqblh smk lh aebd blkhwdwhy adm lmhwy thqyn la alhym yy wamr
Yahweh God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

וברא יי אלהים מן ארעא כל חות ברא וית כל עופא דשמיא ואיתה לות אדם למחזי מה יקרי לה וכל די הוה קרי לה אדם נפשא חיתא הוא שמה:
shmh hwa khytha npsha adm lh qry hwh dy wkl lh yqry mh lmkhzy adm lwth waythh dshmya ewpa kl wyth bra khwth kl area mn alhym yy wbra
Out of the ground Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.

וקרא אדם שמהן לכל בעירא ולעופא דשמיא ולכל חות ברא ולאדם לא אשכח סמך לקבלה:
lqblh smk ashkkh la wladm bra khwth wlkl dshmya wlewpa beyra lkl shmhn adm wqra
The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.

ורמא יי אלהים שינתא על אדם ודמך ונסיב חדא מעלעוהי ומלי בשרא תחותה:
thkhwthh bshra wmly melewhy khda wnsyb wdmk adm el shyntha alhym yy wrma
Yahweh God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

ובנא יי אלהים ית עלעא דנסיב מן אדם לאתתא ואיתה לות אדם:
adm lwth waythh laththa adm mn dnsyb elea yth alhym yy wbna
Yahweh God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
23
ואמר האדם הדא זמנא גרמא מגרמי ובסרא מבסרי לדא יתקרי אתתא ארי מבעלא נסיבא דא:
da nsyba mbela ary aththa ythqry lda mbsry wbsra mgrmy grma zmna hda hadm wamr
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”

על כן ישבוק גבר בית משכבי אבוהי ואמה וידבק באתתה ויהון לבסרא חד:
khd lbsra wyhwn baththh wydbq wamh abwhy mshkby byth gbr yshbwq kn el
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
