ועלו תרין מלאכיא לסדום ברמשא ולוט יתב בתרעא דסדום וחזא לוט וקם לקדמותהון וסגיד על אפוהי על ארעא:
welw thryn mlakya lsdwm brmsha wlwT ythb bthrea dsdwm wkhza lwT wqm lqdmwthhwn wsgyd el apwhy el area
The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,

ואמר בבעו כען רבוני זורו כען לבית עבדכון וביתו ואסחו רגליכון ותקדמון ותהכון לארחכון ואמרו לא אלהן ברחובא נבית:
wamr bbew ken rbwny zwrw ken lbyth ebdkwn wbythw waskhw rglykwn wthqdmwn wthhkwn larkhkwn wamrw la alhn brkhwba nbyth
and he said, “See now, my lords, please come into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”

ואתקף בהון לחדא וזרו לותיה ועלו לביתיה ועבד להון משתיא ופטיר אפא להון ואכלו:
wathqp bhwn lkhda wzrw lwthyh welw lbythyh webd lhwn mshthya wpTyr apa lhwn waklw
He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

עד לא שכיבו ואנשי קרתא אנשי סדום אקיפו על ביתא מעולימא ועד סבא כל עמא מסופיה:
ed la shkybw wanshy qrtha anshy sdwm aqypw el bytha mewlyma wed sba kl ema mswpyh
But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.

וקרו ללוט ואמרו ליה אן גבריא די אתו לותך ליליא אפקנון לותנא ונדע יתהון:
wqrw llwT wamrw lyh an gbrya dy athw lwthk lylya apqnwn lwthna wnde ythhwn
They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”

ונפק לותהון לוט לתרעא ודשא אחד בתרוהי:
wnpq lwthhwn lwT lthrea wdsha akhd bthrwhy
Lot went out to them through the door, and shut the door after himself.

ואמר בבעו כען אחי לא תבאישון:
wamr bbew ken akhy la thbayshwn
He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.
8
הא כען לי תרתין בנן די לא ידענון גבר אפק כען יתהן לותכון ועיבידו להן כדתקן בעיניכון לחוד לגבריא האלין לא תעבדון מדעם ארי על כן עלו בטלל שרותי:
ha ken ly thrthyn bnn dy la ydenwn gbr apq ken ythhn lwthkwn weybydw lhn kdthqn beynykwn lkhwd lgbrya halyn la thebdwn mdem ary el kn elw bTll shrwthy
See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

ואמרו קרב להלא ואמרו חד אתא לאתותבא והא דיין דינא כען נבאש לך מדילהון ותקיפו בגברא בלוט לחדא וקריבו למתבר דשא:
wamrw qrb lhla wamrw khd atha lathwthba wha dyyn dyna ken nbash lk mdylhwn wthqypw bgbra blwT lkhda wqrybw lmthbr dsha
They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and came near to break the door.

ואושיטו גבריא ית ידיהון ואיתיאו ית לוט לותהון לביתא וית דשא אחדו:
wawshyTw gbrya yth ydyhwn waythyaw yth lwT lwthhwn lbytha wyth dsha akhdw
But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.

וית גבריא די בתרע ביתא מחו בשבריריא מזעירא ועד רבא ולאיו לאשכחא תרעא:
wyth gbrya dy bthre bytha mkhw bshbryrya mzeyra wed rba wlayw lashkkha threa
They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

ואמרו גבריא ללוט עוד מן לך הכא חתנא ובנך ובנתך וכל די לך בקרתא אפיק מן אתרא:
wamrw gbrya llwT ewd mn lk hka khthna wbnk wbnthk wkl dy lk bqrtha apyq mn athra
The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:

ארי מחבלין אנחנא ית אתרא הדין ארי סגיאת קבלתהון קדם יי ושלחנא יי לחבלותה:
ary mkhblyn ankhna yth athra hdyn ary sgyath qblthhwn qdm yy wshlkhna yy lkhblwthh
for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown so great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”

ונפק לוט ומליל עם חתנוהי נסבי בנתיה ואמר קומו פוקו מן אתרא הדין ארי מחבל יי ית קרתא והוה כמחיך בעיני חתנוהי:
wnpq lwT wmlyl em khthnwhy nsby bnthyh wamr qwmw pwqw mn athra hdyn ary mkhbl yy yth qrtha whwh kmkhyk beyny khthnwhy
Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

וכמסק צפרא הוה ודחיקו מלאכיא בלוט למימר קום דבר ית אתתך וית תרתין בנתך דאשתכחן מהימנן עמך דילמא תלקי בחובי קרתא:
wkmsq tspra hwh wdkhyqw mlakya blwT lmymr qwm dbr yth aththk wyth thrthyn bnthk dashthkkhn mhymnn emk dylma thlqy bkhwby qrtha
When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

ואתעכב ואתקיפו גבריא בידיה ובידא דאתתיה וביד תרתין בנתיה כרחם יי עלוהי ואפקוהי ואשרוהי מברא לקרתא:
wathekb wathqypw gbrya bydyh wbyda daththyh wbyd thrthyn bnthyh krkhm yy elwhy wapqwhy washrwhy mbra lqrtha
But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.

והוה כד אפיקו יתהון לברא ואמר חוס על נפשך לא תסתכי לאחורך ולא תקום בכל מישרא לטורא אשתזב דלמא תלקי:
whwh kd apyqw ythhwn lbra wamr khws el npshk la thsthky lakhwrk wla thqwm bkl myshra lTwra ashthzb dlma thlqy
It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”

ואמר לוט להון בבעו כען רבוני :
wamr lwT lhwn bbew ken rbwny
Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.
19
הא כען אשכח עבדך רחמין קדמך ואסגיתא טיבותך די עבדת עמי לקימא ית נפשי ואנא לית אנא יכיל לאשתזבא לטורא דילמא תערענני בשתא ואימות:
ha ken ashkkh ebdk rkhmyn qdmk wasgytha Tybwthk dy ebdth emy lqyma yth npshy wana lyth ana ykyl lashthzba lTwra dylma therenny bshtha waymwth
See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.
20
הא כען קרתא הדא קריבא למעירוק לתמן והיא זעירא אשתזב כען תמן הלא זעירא היא ותתקים נפשי:
ha ken qrtha hda qryba lmeyrwq lthmn whya zeyra ashthzb ken thmn hla zeyra hya wththqym npshy
See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”

ואמר ליה הא נסיבית אפך אף לפתגמא הדין בדיל דלא למהפך ית קרתא דבעיתא עלה:
wamr lyh ha nsybyth apk ap lpthgma hdyn bdyl dla lmhpk yth qrtha dbeytha elh
He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

אוחי לאשתזב תמן ארי לא אכול למעבד פתגמא עד מיתך לתמן על כן קרא שמא דקרתא צוער:
awkhy lashthzb thmn ary la akwl lmebd pthgma ed mythk lthmn el kn qra shma dqrtha tswer
Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

שמשא נפק על ארעא ולוט על לצוער:
shmsha npq el area wlwT el ltswer
The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
24
ויי אמטר על סדום ועל עמורה גפריתא ואשתא מן קדם יי מן שמיא:
wyy amTr el sdwm wel emwrh gprytha washtha mn qdm yy mn shmya
Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.

והפך ית קרויא האלין וית כל מישרא וית כל יתבי קרויא וצמחא דארעא:
whpk yth qrwya halyn wyth kl myshra wyth kl ythby qrwya wtsmkha darea
He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.
26
ואסתכיאת אתתיה מבתרוהי והות קמא דמלחא:
wasthkyath aththyh mbthrwhy whwth qma dmlkha
But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27
ואקדים אברהם בצפרא לאתרא דשמש תמן בצלו קדם יי:
waqdym abrhm btspra lathra dshmsh thmn btslw qdm yy
Abraham went up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.
28
ואסתכי על אפי סדום ועמורה ועל כל אפי ארעא דמישרא וחזא והא סליק תננא דארעא כתננא דאתונא:
wasthky el apy sdwm wemwrh wel kl apy area dmyshra wkhza wha slyq thnna darea kthnna dathwna
He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

והוה בחבלות יי ית קרוי מישרא ודכיר יי ית אברהם ושלח ית לוט מגו הפכתא כד הפך ית קרויא די הוה יתב בהן לוט:
whwh bkhblwth yy yth qrwy myshra wdkyr yy yth abrhm wshlkh yth lwT mgw hpktha kd hpk yth qrwya dy hwh ythb bhn lwT
When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.
30
וסלק לוט מצוער ויתב בטורא ותרתין בנתיה עמיה ארי דחיל למתב בצוער ויתב במערתא הוא ותרתין בנתיה:
wslq lwT mtswer wythb bTwra wthrthyn bnthyh emyh ary dkhyl lmthb btswer wythb bmertha hwa wthrthyn bnthyh
Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.
31
ואמרת רבתא לזערתא אבונא סיב וגבר לית בארעא למיעל עלנא כאורח כל ארעא:
wamrth rbtha lzertha abwna syb wgbr lyth barea lmyel elna kawrkh kl area
The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.
32
איתא נשקי ית אבונא חמרא ונשכוב עמיה ונקים מאבונא בנין:
aytha nshqy yth abwna khmra wnshkwb emyh wnqym mabwna bnyn
Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”
33
ואשקיאה ית אבוהן חמרא בליליא הוא ועלת רבתא ושכיבא עם אבוהא ולא ידע במשכבה ובקימה:
washqyah yth abwhn khmra blylya hwa welth rbtha wshkyba em abwha wla yde bmshkbh wbqymh
They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34
והוה ביומא דבתרוהי ואמרת רבתא לזערתא הא שכיבית רמשא עם אבא נשקנה חמרא אף בליליא ועולי שכיבי עמיה ונקים מאבונא בנין:
whwh bywma dbthrwhy wamrth rbtha lzertha ha shkybyth rmsha em aba nshqnh khmra ap blylya wewly shkyby emyh wnqym mabwna bnyn
It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let’s make him drink wine again tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”
35
ואשקיאה אף בליליא ההוא ית אבוהן חמרא וקמת זערתא ושכיבת עמיה ולא ידע במשכבה ובקימה:
washqyah ap blylya hhwa yth abwhn khmra wqmth zertha wshkybth emyh wla yde bmshkbh wbqymh
They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.
36
ועדיאן תרתין בנת לוט מאבוהן:
wedyan thrthyn bnth lwT mabwhn
Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.
37
וילידת רבתא בר וקרת שמיה מואב הוא אבוהון דמואבא עד יומא דין:
wylydth rbtha br wqrth shmyh mwab hwa abwhwn dmwaba ed ywma dyn
The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.
38
וזערתא אף היא ילידת בר וקרת שמיה בר עמי הוא אבוהון דבני עמון עד יומא דין:
wzertha ap hya ylydth br wqrth shmyh br emy hwa abwhwn dbny emwn ed ywma dyn
The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
