1
ועלו תרין מלאכיא לסדום ברמשא ולוט יתב בתרעא דסדום וחזא לוט וקם לקדמותהון וסגיד על אפוהי על ארעא:
area el apwhy el wsgyd lqdmwthhwn wqm lwT wkhza dsdwm bthrea ythb wlwT brmsha lsdwm mlakya thryn welw
The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,

ואמר בבעו כען רבוני זורו כען לבית עבדכון וביתו ואסחו רגליכון ותקדמון ותהכון לארחכון ואמרו לא אלהן ברחובא נבית:
nbyth brkhwba alhn la wamrw larkhkwn wthhkwn wthqdmwn rglykwn waskhw wbythw ebdkwn lbyth ken zwrw rbwny ken bbew wamr
and he said, “See now, my lords, please come into your servant’s house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way.” They said, “No, but we will stay in the street all night.”

ואתקף בהון לחדא וזרו לותיה ועלו לביתיה ועבד להון משתיא ופטיר אפא להון ואכלו:
waklw lhwn apa wpTyr mshthya lhwn webd lbythyh welw lwthyh wzrw lkhda bhwn wathqp
He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.

עד לא שכיבו ואנשי קרתא אנשי סדום אקיפו על ביתא מעולימא ועד סבא כל עמא מסופיה:
mswpyh ema kl sba wed mewlyma bytha el aqypw sdwm anshy qrtha wanshy shkybw la ed
But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.

וקרו ללוט ואמרו ליה אן גבריא די אתו לותך ליליא אפקנון לותנא ונדע יתהון:
ythhwn wnde lwthna apqnwn lylya lwthk athw dy gbrya an lyh wamrw llwT wqrw
They called to Lot, and said to him, “Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them.”

ונפק לותהון לוט לתרעא ודשא אחד בתרוהי:
bthrwhy akhd wdsha lthrea lwT lwthhwn wnpq
Lot went out to them through the door, and shut the door after himself.
7
ואמר בבעו כען אחי לא תבאישון:
thbayshwn la akhy ken bbew wamr
He said, “Please, my brothers, don’t act so wickedly.
8
הא כען לי תרתין בנן די לא ידענון גבר אפק כען יתהן לותכון ועיבידו להן כדתקן בעיניכון לחוד לגבריא האלין לא תעבדון מדעם ארי על כן עלו בטלל שרותי:
shrwthy bTll elw kn el ary mdem thebdwn la halyn lgbrya lkhwd beynykwn kdthqn lhn weybydw lwthkwn ythhn ken apq gbr ydenwn la dy bnn thrthyn ly ken ha
See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof.”

ואמרו קרב להלא ואמרו חד אתא לאתותבא והא דיין דינא כען נבאש לך מדילהון ותקיפו בגברא בלוט לחדא וקריבו למתבר דשא:
dsha lmthbr wqrybw lkhda blwT bgbra wthqypw mdylhwn lk nbash ken dyna dyyn wha lathwthba atha khd wamrw lhla qrb wamrw
They said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now we will deal worse with you than with them!” They pressed hard on the man Lot, and came near to break the door.

ואושיטו גבריא ית ידיהון ואיתיאו ית לוט לותהון לביתא וית דשא אחדו:
akhdw dsha wyth lbytha lwthhwn lwT yth waythyaw ydyhwn yth gbrya wawshyTw
But the men reached out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.

וית גבריא די בתרע ביתא מחו בשבריריא מזעירא ועד רבא ולאיו לאשכחא תרעא:
threa lashkkha wlayw rba wed mzeyra bshbryrya mkhw bytha bthre dy gbrya wyth
They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

ואמרו גבריא ללוט עוד מן לך הכא חתנא ובנך ובנתך וכל די לך בקרתא אפיק מן אתרא:
athra mn apyq bqrtha lk dy wkl wbnthk wbnk khthna hka lk mn ewd llwT gbrya wamrw
The men said to Lot, “Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:

ארי מחבלין אנחנא ית אתרא הדין ארי סגיאת קבלתהון קדם יי ושלחנא יי לחבלותה:
lkhblwthh yy wshlkhna yy qdm qblthhwn sgyath ary hdyn athra yth ankhna mkhblyn ary
for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown so great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it.”

ונפק לוט ומליל עם חתנוהי נסבי בנתיה ואמר קומו פוקו מן אתרא הדין ארי מחבל יי ית קרתא והוה כמחיך בעיני חתנוהי:
khthnwhy beyny kmkhyk whwh qrtha yth yy mkhbl ary hdyn athra mn pwqw qwmw wamr bnthyh nsby khthnwhy em wmlyl lwT wnpq
Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

וכמסק צפרא הוה ודחיקו מלאכיא בלוט למימר קום דבר ית אתתך וית תרתין בנתך דאשתכחן מהימנן עמך דילמא תלקי בחובי קרתא:
qrtha bkhwby thlqy dylma emk mhymnn dashthkkhn bnthk thrthyn wyth aththk yth dbr qwm lmymr blwT mlakya wdkhyqw hwh tspra wkmsq
When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city.”

ואתעכב ואתקיפו גבריא בידיה ובידא דאתתיה וביד תרתין בנתיה כרחם יי עלוהי ואפקוהי ואשרוהי מברא לקרתא:
lqrtha mbra washrwhy wapqwhy elwhy yy krkhm bnthyh thrthyn wbyd daththyh wbyda bydyh gbrya wathqypw wathekb
But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife’s hand, and his two daughters’ hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.

והוה כד אפיקו יתהון לברא ואמר חוס על נפשך לא תסתכי לאחורך ולא תקום בכל מישרא לטורא אשתזב דלמא תלקי:
thlqy dlma ashthzb lTwra myshra bkl thqwm wla lakhwrk thsthky la npshk el khws wamr lbra ythhwn apyqw kd whwh
It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, “Escape for your life! Don’t look behind you, and don’t stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!”

ואמר לוט להון בבעו כען רבוני :
rbwny ken bbew lhwn lwT wamr
Lot said to them, “Oh, not so, my lord.
19
הא כען אשכח עבדך רחמין קדמך ואסגיתא טיבותך די עבדת עמי לקימא ית נפשי ואנא לית אנא יכיל לאשתזבא לטורא דילמא תערענני בשתא ואימות:
waymwth bshtha therenny dylma lTwra lashthzba ykyl ana lyth wana npshy yth lqyma emy ebdth dy Tybwthk wasgytha qdmk rkhmyn ebdk ashkkh ken ha
See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can’t escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.

הא כען קרתא הדא קריבא למעירוק לתמן והיא זעירא אשתזב כען תמן הלא זעירא היא ותתקים נפשי:
npshy wththqym hya zeyra hla thmn ken ashthzb zeyra whya lthmn lmeyrwq qryba hda qrtha ken ha
See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn’t it a little one?), and my soul will live.”

ואמר ליה הא נסיבית אפך אף לפתגמא הדין בדיל דלא למהפך ית קרתא דבעיתא עלה:
elh dbeytha qrtha yth lmhpk dla bdyl hdyn lpthgma ap apk nsybyth ha lyh wamr
He said to him, “Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.

אוחי לאשתזב תמן ארי לא אכול למעבד פתגמא עד מיתך לתמן על כן קרא שמא דקרתא צוער:
tswer dqrtha shma qra kn el lthmn mythk ed pthgma lmebd akwl la ary thmn lashthzb awkhy
Hurry, escape there, for I can’t do anything until you get there.” Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

שמשא נפק על ארעא ולוט על לצוער:
ltswer el wlwT area el npq shmsha
The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
24
ויי אמטר על סדום ועל עמורה גפריתא ואשתא מן קדם יי מן שמיא:
shmya mn yy qdm mn washtha gprytha emwrh wel sdwm el amTr wyy
Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.

והפך ית קרויא האלין וית כל מישרא וית כל יתבי קרויא וצמחא דארעא:
darea wtsmkha qrwya ythby kl wyth myshra kl wyth halyn qrwya yth whpk
He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.
26
ואסתכיאת אתתיה מבתרוהי והות קמא דמלחא:
dmlkha qma whwth mbthrwhy aththyh wasthkyath
But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27
ואקדים אברהם בצפרא לאתרא דשמש תמן בצלו קדם יי:
yy qdm btslw thmn dshmsh lathra btspra abrhm waqdym
Abraham went up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.
28
ואסתכי על אפי סדום ועמורה ועל כל אפי ארעא דמישרא וחזא והא סליק תננא דארעא כתננא דאתונא:
dathwna kthnna darea thnna slyq wha wkhza dmyshra area apy kl wel wemwrh sdwm apy el wasthky
He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

והוה בחבלות יי ית קרוי מישרא ודכיר יי ית אברהם ושלח ית לוט מגו הפכתא כד הפך ית קרויא די הוה יתב בהן לוט:
lwT bhn ythb hwh dy qrwya yth hpk kd hpktha mgw lwT yth wshlkh abrhm yth yy wdkyr myshra qrwy yth yy bkhblwth whwh
When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.

וסלק לוט מצוער ויתב בטורא ותרתין בנתיה עמיה ארי דחיל למתב בצוער ויתב במערתא הוא ותרתין בנתיה:
bnthyh wthrthyn hwa bmertha wythb btswer lmthb dkhyl ary emyh bnthyh wthrthyn bTwra wythb mtswer lwT wslq
Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.
31
ואמרת רבתא לזערתא אבונא סיב וגבר לית בארעא למיעל עלנא כאורח כל ארעא:
area kl kawrkh elna lmyel barea lyth wgbr syb abwna lzertha rbtha wamrth
The firstborn said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.

איתא נשקי ית אבונא חמרא ונשכוב עמיה ונקים מאבונא בנין:
bnyn mabwna wnqym emyh wnshkwb khmra abwna yth nshqy aytha
Come, let’s make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”
33
ואשקיאה ית אבוהן חמרא בליליא הוא ועלת רבתא ושכיבא עם אבוהא ולא ידע במשכבה ובקימה:
wbqymh bmshkbh yde wla abwha em wshkyba rbtha welth hwa blylya khmra abwhn yth washqyah
They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34
והוה ביומא דבתרוהי ואמרת רבתא לזערתא הא שכיבית רמשא עם אבא נשקנה חמרא אף בליליא ועולי שכיבי עמיה ונקים מאבונא בנין:
bnyn mabwna wnqym emyh shkyby wewly blylya ap khmra nshqnh aba em rmsha shkybyth ha lzertha rbtha wamrth dbthrwhy bywma whwh
It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, “Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let’s make him drink wine again tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father’s family line.”
35
ואשקיאה אף בליליא ההוא ית אבוהן חמרא וקמת זערתא ושכיבת עמיה ולא ידע במשכבה ובקימה:
wbqymh bmshkbh yde wla emyh wshkybth zertha wqmth khmra abwhn yth hhwa blylya ap washqyah
They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn’t know when she lay down, nor when she got up.
36
ועדיאן תרתין בנת לוט מאבוהן:
mabwhn lwT bnth thrthyn wedyan
Thus both of Lot’s daughters were with child by their father.
37
וילידת רבתא בר וקרת שמיה מואב הוא אבוהון דמואבא עד יומא דין:
dyn ywma ed dmwaba abwhwn hwa mwab shmyh wqrth br rbtha wylydth
The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.
