1
ושרי אתת אברם לא ילידת ליה ולה אמתא מצריתא ושמה הגר:
hgr wshmh mtsrytha amtha wlh lyh ylydth la abrm athth wshry
Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, bore him no children. She had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

ואמרת שרי לאברם הא כען מנעני יי מלמילד עול כען לות אמתי מאם אתבני מנה וקביל אברם למימר שרי:
shry lmymr abrm wqbyl mnh athbny mam amthy lwth ken ewl mlmyld yy mneny ken ha labrm shry wamrth
Sarai said to Abram, “See now, Yahweh has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her.” Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

ודברת שרי אתת אברם ית הגר מצריתא אמתה מסוף עשר שנין למתב אברם בארעא דכנען ויהבת יתה לאברם בעלה ליה לאנתו:
lanthw lyh belh labrm ythh wyhbth dknen barea abrm lmthb shnyn eshr mswp amthh mtsrytha hgr yth abrm athth shry wdbrth
Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to Abram her husband to be his wife.

ועל לות הגר ועדיאת וחזת ארי עדיאת וקלת רבנתה בעינהה:
beynhh rbnthh wqlth edyath ary wkhzth wedyath hgr lwth wel
He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. When she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

ואמרת שרי לאברם דין לי עלך אנא יהבית אמתי לך וחזת ארי עדיאת וקלית בעינהה ידין יי ביני ובינך:
wbynk byny yy ydyn beynhh wqlyth edyath ary wkhzth lk amthy yhbyth ana elk ly dyn labrm shry wamrth
Sarai said to Abram, “This wrong is your fault. I gave my servant into your bosom, and when she saw that she had conceived, she despised me. May Yahweh judge between me and you.”

ואמר אברם לשרי הא אמתיך בידיך עבידי לה כדתקין בעיניכי ועניתה שרי וערקת מקדמהה:
mqdmhh werqth shry wenythh beynyky kdthqyn lh ebydy bydyk amthyk ha lshry abrm wamr
But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your maid is in your hand. Do to her whatever is good in your eyes.” Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face.

ואשכחה מלאכא דיי על עינא דמיא במדברא על עינא בארחא דחגרא:
dkhgra barkha eyna el bmdbra dmya eyna el dyy mlaka washkkhh
Yahweh’s angel found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain on the way to Shur.

ואמר הגר אמתא דשרי מנן את אתיא ולאן את אזלא ואמרת מן קדם שרי רבנתי אנא ערקא :
erqa ana rbnthy shry qdm mn wamrth azla ath wlan athya ath mnn dshry amtha hgr wamr
He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where did you come from? Where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.”

ואמר לה מלאכא דיי תובי לות רבונתך ואשתעבדי תחות ידהא:
ydha thkhwth washthebdy rbwnthk lwth thwby dyy mlaka lh wamr
Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.”
10
ואמר לה מלאכא דיי אסגאה אסגי ית בניכי ולא יתמנון מסגי:
msgy ythmnwn wla bnyky yth asgy asgah dyy mlaka lh wamr
Yahweh’s angel said to her, “I will greatly multiply your offspring, that they will not be counted for multitude.”

ואמר לה מלאכא דיי הא את מעדיא ותלדין בר ותקרין שמיה ישמעאל ארי קביל יי צלותיך:
tslwthyk yy qbyl ary yshmeal shmyh wthqryn br wthldyn medya ath ha dyy mlaka lh wamr
Yahweh’s angel said to her, “Behold, you are with child, and will bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because Yahweh has heard your affliction.

והוא יהא מרוד באנשא הוא יהא צריך לכלא וידא דבני אנשא יהון צריכין ליה ועל אפי כל אחוהי ישרי:
yshry akhwhy kl apy wel lyh tsrykyn yhwn ansha dbny wyda lkla tsryk yha hwa bansha mrwd yha whwa
He will be like a wild donkey among men. His hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. He will live opposed to all of his brothers.”

וצליאת בשמא דיי דמתמלל עמה אמרת את הוא אלהא דחזי כלא ארי אמרת הברם הכא שרתי חזיא בתר דאתגלי לי:
ly dathgly bthr khzya shrthy hka hbrm amrth ary kla dkhzy alha hwa ath amrth emh dmthmll dyy bshma wtslyath
She called the name of Yahweh who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees,” for she said, “Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?”

על כן קרא לבארא בארא דמלאך קימא אתחזי עלה הא בין רקם ובין חגרא:
khgra wbyn rqm byn ha elh athkhzy qyma dmlak bara lbara qra kn el
Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi. Behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.

וילידת הגר לאברם בר וקרא אברם שום בריה דילידת הגר ישמעאל:
yshmeal hgr dylydth bryh shwm abrm wqra br labrm hgr wylydth
Hagar bore a son for Abram. Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
