וסליק אברם ממצרים הוא ואתתיה וכל דיליה ולוט עמיה לדרומא:
ldrwma emyh wlwT dylyh wkl waththyh hwa mmtsrym abrm wslyq
Abram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South.

ואברם תקיף לחדא בבעירא בכספא ובדהבא:
wbdhba bkspa bbeyra lkhda thqyp wabrm
Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

ואזל למטלנוהי מדרומא ועד בית אל עד אתרא די פרס תמן משכניה בקדמיתא בין בית אל ובין עי:
ey wbyn al byth byn bqdmytha mshknyh thmn prs dy athra ed al byth wed mdrwma lmTlnwhy wazl
He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

לאתר מדבחא די עבד תמן בקדמיתא וצלי תמן אברם בשמא דיי:
dyy bshma abrm thmn wtsly bqdmytha thmn ebd dy mdbkha lathr
to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.

ואף ללוט דאזיל עם אברם הוה עאן ותורין ומשכנין:
wmshknyn wthwryn ean hwh abrm em dazyl llwT wap
Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

ולא סוברת יתהון ארעא למיתב כחדא ארי הוה קנינהון סגי ולא יכילו למיתב כחדא:
kkhda lmythb ykylw wla sgy qnynhwn hwh ary kkhda lmythb area ythhwn swbrth wla
The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together.

והות מצותא בין רעי בעיריה דאברם ובין רעי בעיריה דלוט וכנענאה ופרזאה בכן יתיב בארעא:
barea ythyb bkn wprzah wknenah dlwT beyryh rey wbyn dabrm beyryh rey byn mtswtha whwth
There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.

ואמר אברם ללוט לא כען תהי מצותא בינא ובינך ובין רעותי ובין רעותך ארי גוברין אחין אנחנא:
ankhna akhyn gwbryn ary rewthk wbyn rewthy wbyn wbynk byna mtswtha thhy ken la llwT abrm wamr
Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.

הלא כל ארעא קדמך אתפרש כען מלותי אם את לצפונא ואנא לדרומא ואם את לדרומא ואנא לצפונא:
ltspwna wana ldrwma ath wam ldrwma wana ltspwna ath am mlwthy ken athprsh qdmk area kl hla
Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

וזקף לוט ית עינוהי וחזא ית כל מישר ירדנא ארי כלה בית שקיא קדם חבלות יי ית סדום וית עמרה כגינתא דיי כארעא דמצרים מטי לצער:
ltser mTy dmtsrym karea dyy kgyntha emrh wyth sdwm yth yy khblwth qdm shqya byth klh ary yrdna myshr kl yth wkhza eynwhy yth lwT wzqp
Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

ובחר ליה לוט ית כל מישר ירדנא ונטל לוט מלקדמין ואתפרשו גבר מלות אחוהי:
akhwhy mlwth gbr wathprshw mlqdmyn lwT wnTl yrdna myshr kl yth lwT lyh wbkhr
So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.

אברם יתב בארעא דכנען ולוט יתב בקירוי מישרא ופרס עד סדום:
sdwm ed wprs myshra bqyrwy ythb wlwT dknen barea ythb abrm
Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

ואנשין דסדום בישין בממונהון וחיבין בגויתהון קדם יי לחדא:
lkhda yy qdm bgwythhwn wkhybyn bmmwnhwn byshyn dsdwm wanshyn
Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.

ויי אמר לאברם בתר דאתפרש לוט מעמיה זקוף כען עינך וחזי מן אתרא דאת תמן לצפונא ולדרומא ולמדינחא ולמערבא:
wlmerba wlmdynkha wldrwma ltspwna thmn dath athra mn wkhzy eynk ken zqwp memyh lwT dathprsh bthr labrm amr wyy
Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

ארי ית כל ארעא די את חזי לך אתננה ולבנך עד עלם:
elm ed wlbnk athnnh lk khzy ath dy area kl yth ary
for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.
16
ואשוי ית בנך סגיאין כעפרא דארעא כמא די לא אפשר לגבר לממני ית עפרא דארעא אף בנך לא יתמנון:
ythmnwn la bnk ap darea epra yth lmmny lgbr apshr la dy kma darea kepra sgyayn bnk yth washwy
I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.

קום הליך בארעא לארכה ולפתיה ארי לך אתננה:
athnnh lk ary wlpthyh larkh barea hlyk qwm
Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”
