וסליק אברם ממצרים הוא ואתתיה וכל דיליה ולוט עמיה לדרומא:
wslyq abrm mmtsrym hwa waththyh wkl dylyh wlwT emyh ldrwma
Abram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South.

ואברם תקיף לחדא בבעירא בכספא ובדהבא:
wabrm thqyp lkhda bbeyra bkspa wbdhba
Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

ואזל למטלנוהי מדרומא ועד בית אל עד אתרא די פרס תמן משכניה בקדמיתא בין בית אל ובין עי:
wazl lmTlnwhy mdrwma wed byth al ed athra dy prs thmn mshknyh bqdmytha byn byth al wbyn ey
He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,

לאתר מדבחא די עבד תמן בקדמיתא וצלי תמן אברם בשמא דיי:
lathr mdbkha dy ebd thmn bqdmytha wtsly thmn abrm bshma dyy
to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name.

ואף ללוט דאזיל עם אברם הוה עאן ותורין ומשכנין:
wap llwT dazyl em abrm hwh ean wthwryn wmshknyn
Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents.

ולא סוברת יתהון ארעא למיתב כחדא ארי הוה קנינהון סגי ולא יכילו למיתב כחדא:
wla swbrth ythhwn area lmythb kkhda ary hwh qnynhwn sgy wla ykylw lmythb kkhda
The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together.

והות מצותא בין רעי בעיריה דאברם ובין רעי בעיריה דלוט וכנענאה ופרזאה בכן יתיב בארעא:
whwth mtswtha byn rey beyryh dabrm wbyn rey beyryh dlwT wknenah wprzah bkn ythyb barea
There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time.

ואמר אברם ללוט לא כען תהי מצותא בינא ובינך ובין רעותי ובין רעותך ארי גוברין אחין אנחנא:
wamr abrm llwT la ken thhy mtswtha byna wbynk wbyn rewthy wbyn rewthk ary gwbryn akhyn ankhna
Abram said to Lot, “Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives.

הלא כל ארעא קדמך אתפרש כען מלותי אם את לצפונא ואנא לדרומא ואם את לדרומא ואנא לצפונא:
hla kl area qdmk athprsh ken mlwthy am ath ltspwna wana ldrwma wam ath ldrwma wana ltspwna
Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left.”

וזקף לוט ית עינוהי וחזא ית כל מישר ירדנא ארי כלה בית שקיא קדם חבלות יי ית סדום וית עמרה כגינתא דיי כארעא דמצרים מטי לצער:
wzqp lwT yth eynwhy wkhza yth kl myshr yrdna ary klh byth shqya qdm khblwth yy yth sdwm wyth emrh kgyntha dyy karea dmtsrym mTy ltser
Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar.

ובחר ליה לוט ית כל מישר ירדנא ונטל לוט מלקדמין ואתפרשו גבר מלות אחוהי:
wbkhr lyh lwT yth kl myshr yrdna wnTl lwT mlqdmyn wathprshw gbr mlwth akhwhy
So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another.

אברם יתב בארעא דכנען ולוט יתב בקירוי מישרא ופרס עד סדום:
abrm ythb barea dknen wlwT ythb bqyrwy myshra wprs ed sdwm
Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom.

ואנשין דסדום בישין בממונהון וחיבין בגויתהון קדם יי לחדא:
wanshyn dsdwm byshyn bmmwnhwn wkhybyn bgwythhwn qdm yy lkhda
Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.

ויי אמר לאברם בתר דאתפרש לוט מעמיה זקוף כען עינך וחזי מן אתרא דאת תמן לצפונא ולדרומא ולמדינחא ולמערבא:
wyy amr labrm bthr dathprsh lwT memyh zqwp ken eynk wkhzy mn athra dath thmn ltspwna wldrwma wlmdynkha wlmerba
Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

ארי ית כל ארעא די את חזי לך אתננה ולבנך עד עלם:
ary yth kl area dy ath khzy lk athnnh wlbnk ed elm
for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.
16
ואשוי ית בנך סגיאין כעפרא דארעא כמא די לא אפשר לגבר לממני ית עפרא דארעא אף בנך לא יתמנון:
washwy yth bnk sgyayn kepra darea kma dy la apshr lgbr lmmny yth epra darea ap bnk la ythmnwn
I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted.

קום הליך בארעא לארכה ולפתיה ארי לך אתננה:
qwm hlyk barea larkh wlpthyh ary lk athnnh
Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you.”

ופרס אברם ואתא ויתב במישרי ממרא די בחברון ובנא תמן מדבחא קדם יי:
wprs abrm watha wythb bmyshry mmra dy bkhbrwn wbna thmn mdbkha qdm yy
Abram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to Yahweh.
