ואמר יי לאברם איזל לך מארעך ומילדותך ומבית אבוך לארעא די אחזנך:
wamr yy labrm ayzl lk marek wmyldwthk wmbyth abwk larea dy akhznk
Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.

ואעבדנך לעם סגי ואברכנך וארבי שמך ותהא מברך:
waebdnk lem sgy wabrknk warby shmk wthha mbrk
I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

ואברך מברכך ומלטטך אילוט ויתברכון בדילך כל זרעית ארעא:
wabrk mbrkk wmlTTk aylwT wythbrkwn bdylk kl zreyth area
I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

ואזל אברם כמא דמליל עמיה יי ואזל עמיה לוט ואברם בר שבעין וחמש שנין במפקיה מחרן:
wazl abrm kma dmlyl emyh yy wazl emyh lwT wabrm br shbeyn wkhmsh shnyn bmpqyh mkhrn
So Abram went, as Yahweh had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

ודבר אברם ית שרי אתתיה וית לוט בר אחוהי וית כל קנינהון די קנו וית נפשתא דשעבידו לאוריתא בחרן ונפקו למיזל לארעא דכנען ואתו לארעא דכנען:
wdbr abrm yth shry aththyh wyth lwT br akhwhy wyth kl qnynhwn dy qnw wyth npshtha dshebydw lawrytha bkhrn wnpqw lmyzl larea dknen wathw larea dknen
Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. They entered into the land of Canaan.

ועבר אברם בארעא עד אתר שכם עד מישר מורה וכנענאה בכן בארעא:
webr abrm barea ed athr shkm ed myshr mwrh wknenah bkn barea
Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time, Canaanites were in the land.

ואתגלי יי לאברם ואמר לבנך אתן ית ארעא הדא ובנא תמן מדבחא קדם יי דאתגלי ליה:
wathgly yy labrm wamr lbnk athn yth area hda wbna thmn mdbkha qdm yy dathgly lyh
Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

ואסתלק מתמן לטורא ממדנח לבית אל ופרס משכניה בית אל ממערבא ועי ממדינחא ובנא תמן מדבחא קדם יי וצלי בשמא דיי:
wasthlq mthmn lTwra mmdnkh lbyth al wprs mshknyh byth al mmerba wey mmdynkha wbna thmn mdbkha qdm yy wtsly bshma dyy
He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on Yahweh’s name.

ונטל אברם אזל ונטל לדרומא:
wnTl abrm azl wnTl ldrwma
Abram traveled, still going on toward the South.

והוה כפנא בארעא ונחת אברם למצרים לאתותבא תמן ארי תקיף כפנא בארעא:
whwh kpna barea wnkhth abrm lmtsrym lathwthba thmn ary thqyp kpna barea
There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.

והוה כד קריב למיעל למצרים ואמר לשרי אתתיה הא כען ידעית ארי אתתא שפירת חיזו את:
whwh kd qryb lmyel lmtsrym wamr lshry aththyh ha ken ydeyth ary aththa shpyrth khyzw ath
When he had come near to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.

ויהי כד יחזון יתיך מצראי ויימרון אתתיה דא ויקטלון יתי ויתיך יקימון:
wyhy kd ykhzwn ythyk mtsray wyymrwn aththyh da wyqTlwn ythy wythyk yqymwn
It will happen that when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.

אמרי כען אחתי את בדיל דייטב לי בדילך ותתקים נפשי בפתגמיכי:
amry ken akhthy ath bdyl dyyTb ly bdylk wththqym npshy bpthgmyky
Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”

והוה כד על אברם למצרים וחזו מצראי ית אתתא ארי שפירא היא לחדא:
whwh kd el abrm lmtsrym wkhzw mtsray yth aththa ary shpyra hya lkhda
When Abram had come into Egypt, some Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.
15
וחזו יתה רברבי פרעה ושבחו יתה לפרעה ואדברת אתתא לבית פרעה:
wkhzw ythh rbrby preh wshbkhw ythh lpreh wadbrth aththa lbyth preh
The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

ולאברם אוטיב בדילה והוו ליה עאן ותורין וחמרין ועבדין ואמהן ואתנן וגמלין:
wlabrm awTyb bdylh whww lyh ean wthwryn wkhmryn webdyn wamhn wathnn wgmlyn
He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

ואיתי יי על פרעה מכתשין רברבין ועל אנש ביתיה על עיסק שרי אתת אברם:
waythy yy el preh mkthshyn rbrbyn wel ansh bythyh el eysq shry athth abrm
Yahweh afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

וקרא פרעה לאברם ואמר מה דא עבדת לי למא לא חויתא לי ארי אתתך היא:
wqra preh labrm wamr mh da ebdth ly lma la khwytha ly ary aththk hya
Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?

למא אמרת אחתי היא ודברית יתה לי לאתו וכען הא אתתך דבר ואיזיל:
lma amrth akhthy hya wdbryth ythh ly lathw wken ha aththk dbr wayzyl
Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way.”

ופקיד עלוהי פרעה גוברין ואלויאו יתיה וית אתתיה וית כל דיליה:
wpqyd elwhy preh gwbryn walwyaw ythyh wyth aththyh wyth kl dylyh
Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they escorted him away with his wife and all that he had.
