1
ואמר יי לאברם איזל לך מארעך ומילדותך ומבית אבוך לארעא די אחזנך:
akhznk dy larea abwk wmbyth wmyldwthk marek lk ayzl labrm yy wamr
Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you.

ואעבדנך לעם סגי ואברכנך וארבי שמך ותהא מברך:
mbrk wthha shmk warby wabrknk sgy lem waebdnk
I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

ואברך מברכך ומלטטך אילוט ויתברכון בדילך כל זרעית ארעא:
area zreyth kl bdylk wythbrkwn aylwT wmlTTk mbrkk wabrk
I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

ואזל אברם כמא דמליל עמיה יי ואזל עמיה לוט ואברם בר שבעין וחמש שנין במפקיה מחרן:
mkhrn bmpqyh shnyn wkhmsh shbeyn br wabrm lwT emyh wazl yy emyh dmlyl kma abrm wazl
So Abram went, as Yahweh had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

ודבר אברם ית שרי אתתיה וית לוט בר אחוהי וית כל קנינהון די קנו וית נפשתא דשעבידו לאוריתא בחרן ונפקו למיזל לארעא דכנען ואתו לארעא דכנען:
dknen larea wathw dknen larea lmyzl wnpqw bkhrn lawrytha dshebydw npshtha wyth qnw dy qnynhwn kl wyth akhwhy br lwT wyth aththyh shry yth abrm wdbr
Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. They entered into the land of Canaan.

ועבר אברם בארעא עד אתר שכם עד מישר מורה וכנענאה בכן בארעא:
barea bkn wknenah mwrh myshr ed shkm athr ed barea abrm webr
Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time, Canaanites were in the land.

ואתגלי יי לאברם ואמר לבנך אתן ית ארעא הדא ובנא תמן מדבחא קדם יי דאתגלי ליה:
lyh dathgly yy qdm mdbkha thmn wbna hda area yth athn lbnk wamr labrm yy wathgly
Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who had appeared to him.

ואסתלק מתמן לטורא ממדנח לבית אל ופרס משכניה בית אל ממערבא ועי ממדינחא ובנא תמן מדבחא קדם יי וצלי בשמא דיי:
dyy bshma wtsly yy qdm mdbkha thmn wbna mmdynkha wey mmerba al byth mshknyh wprs al lbyth mmdnkh lTwra mthmn wasthlq
He left from there to go to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on Yahweh’s name.

ונטל אברם אזל ונטל לדרומא:
ldrwma wnTl azl abrm wnTl
Abram traveled, still going on toward the South.

והוה כפנא בארעא ונחת אברם למצרים לאתותבא תמן ארי תקיף כפנא בארעא:
barea kpna thqyp ary thmn lathwthba lmtsrym abrm wnkhth barea kpna whwh
There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.

והוה כד קריב למיעל למצרים ואמר לשרי אתתיה הא כען ידעית ארי אתתא שפירת חיזו את:
ath khyzw shpyrth aththa ary ydeyth ken ha aththyh lshry wamr lmtsrym lmyel qryb kd whwh
When he had come near to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.

ויהי כד יחזון יתיך מצראי ויימרון אתתיה דא ויקטלון יתי ויתיך יקימון:
yqymwn wythyk ythy wyqTlwn da aththyh wyymrwn mtsray ythyk ykhzwn kd wyhy
It will happen that when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.

אמרי כען אחתי את בדיל דייטב לי בדילך ותתקים נפשי בפתגמיכי:
bpthgmyky npshy wththqym bdylk ly dyyTb bdyl ath akhthy ken amry
Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”

והוה כד על אברם למצרים וחזו מצראי ית אתתא ארי שפירא היא לחדא:
lkhda hya shpyra ary aththa yth mtsray wkhzw lmtsrym abrm el kd whwh
When Abram had come into Egypt, some Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.
15
וחזו יתה רברבי פרעה ושבחו יתה לפרעה ואדברת אתתא לבית פרעה:
preh lbyth aththa wadbrth lpreh ythh wshbkhw preh rbrby ythh wkhzw
The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

ולאברם אוטיב בדילה והוו ליה עאן ותורין וחמרין ועבדין ואמהן ואתנן וגמלין:
wgmlyn wathnn wamhn webdyn wkhmryn wthwryn ean lyh whww bdylh awTyb wlabrm
He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

ואיתי יי על פרעה מכתשין רברבין ועל אנש ביתיה על עיסק שרי אתת אברם:
abrm athth shry eysq el bythyh ansh wel rbrbyn mkthshyn preh el yy waythy
Yahweh afflicted Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

וקרא פרעה לאברם ואמר מה דא עבדת לי למא לא חויתא לי ארי אתתך היא:
hya aththk ary ly khwytha la lma ly ebdth da mh wamr labrm preh wqra
Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this that you have done to me? Why didn’t you tell me that she was your wife?

למא אמרת אחתי היא ודברית יתה לי לאתו וכען הא אתתך דבר ואיזיל:
wayzyl dbr aththk ha wken lathw ly ythh wdbryth hya akhthy amrth lma
Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way.”
