Now this is the history of the generations of the sons of Noah and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.

The sons of Japheth were: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

The sons of Gomer were: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

ובני יון אלישה ותרשיש כתים ודדנים:

The sons of Javan were: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

מאלין אתפרשו נגות עממיא בארעהון גבר ללישניה לזרעיתהון בעממיהון:
malyn athprshw ngwth emmya barehwn gbr llyshnyh lzreythhwn bemmyhwn
Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.

ובני חם כוש ומצרים ופוט וכנען:

The sons of Ham were: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

ובני כוש סבא וחוילה וסבתה ורעמה וסבתכא ובני רעמה שבא ודדן:
wbny kwsh sba wkhwylh wsbthh wremh wsbthka wbny remh shba wddn
The sons of Cush were: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were: Sheba and Dedan.

וכוש אוליד ית נמרד הוא שרי למהוי גבר תקיף בארעא:

Cush became the father of Nimrod. He began to be a mighty one in the earth.

הוא הוה גבר תקיף קדם יי על כן יתאמר כנמרד גבר תקיף קדם יי:

He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it is said, “like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Yahweh”.

והוה ריש מלכותיה בבל וארך ואכד וכלנה בארעא דבבל:

The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

מן ארעא ההיא נפק אתוראה ובנא ית נינוה וית רחבת קרתא וית כלח:
mn area hhya npq athwrah wbna yth nynwh wyth rkhbth qrtha wyth klkh
Out of that land he went into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,

וית רסן בין נינוה ובין כלח היא קרתא רבתא:

and Resen between Nineveh and the great city Calah.

ומצראי אוליד ית לודאי וית ענמאי וית להבאי וית נפתוחאי:

וית פתרוסאי וית כסלוחאי די נפקו מתמן פלשתאי וית קפוטקאי:

Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim.

וכנען אוליד ית צידון בכריה וית חת:
wknen awlyd yth tsydwn bkryh wyth khth
Canaan became the father of Sidon (his firstborn), Heth,

וית יבוסאי וית אמוראי וית גרגשאי:
wyth ybwsay wyth amwray wyth grgshay
the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,

וית חואי וית ערקאי וית אנתוסאי:
wyth khway wyth erqay wyth anthwsay
the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,

וית ארודאי וית צמראי וית חמתאי ובתר כן אתבדרו זרעית כנענאי:
wyth arwday wyth tsmray wyth khmthay wbthr kn athbdrw zreyth knenay
the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.

והוה תחום כנענאי מצידון מטי לגרר עד עזה מטי לסדום ועמורה ואדמה וצבוים עד לשע:
whwh thkhwm knenay mtsydwn mTy lgrr ed ezh mTy lsdwm wemwrh wadmh wtsbwym ed lshe
The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon—as you go toward Gerar—to Gaza—as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim—to Lasha.

אלין בני חם לזרעיתהון ללישנהון בארעתהון בעממיהון:
alyn bny khm lzreythhwn llyshnhwn barethhwn bemmyhwn
These are the sons of Ham, after their families, according to their languages, in their lands and their nations.

ולשם אתיליד אף הוא אבוהון דכל בני עבר אחוהי דיפת רבא:

Children were also born to Shem (the elder brother of Japheth), the father of all the children of Eber.

בני שם עילם ואשור וארפכשד ולוד וארם:

The sons of Shem were: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.

ובני ארם עוץ וחול וגתר ומש:

The sons of Aram were: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

Arpachshad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.

ולעבר אתילידו תרין בנין שום חד פלג ארי ביומוהי אתפליגת ארעא ושום אחוהי יקטן:

To Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided. His brother’s name was Joktan.

Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

והוה מותבנהון ממשא מטי לספר טור מדינחא:

Their dwelling extended from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.

אלין בני שם לזרעיתהון ללישנהון לארעתהון בעממיהון:

These are the sons of Shem, by their families, according to their languages, lands, and nations.

אלין זרעית בני נח לתולדתהון בעממיהון ומאלין אתפרשו עממיא בארעא בתר טופנא:
