באדין דריוש מלכא שם טעם ובקרו ׀ בבית ספריא די גנזיא מהחתין תמה בבבל
bbbl thmh mhkhthyn gnzya dy sprya bbyth wbqrw Tem shm mlka drywsh badyn
Then Darius the king made a decree, and the house of the archives, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon, was searched.

והשתכח באחמתא בבירתא די במדי מדינתא מגלה חדה וכן כתיב בגוה דכרונה {פ}

A scroll was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of Media, and in it this was written for a record:

בשנת חדה לכורש מלכא כורש מלכא שם טעם בית אלהא בירושלם ביתא יתבנא אתר די דבחין דבחין ואשוהי מסובלין רומה אמין שתין פתיה אמין שתין
shthyn amyn pthyh shthyn amyn rwmh mswblyn washwhy dbkhyn dbkhyn dy athr ythbna bytha byrwshlm alha byth Tem shm mlka kwrsh mlka lkwrsh khdh bshnth
In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king made a decree: Concerning God’s house at Jerusalem, let the house be built, the place where they offer sacrifices, and let its foundations be strongly laid, with its height sixty cubits and its width sixty cubits;

נדבכין די אבן גלל תלתא ונדבך די אע חדת ונפקתא מן בית מלכא תתיהב {ס}
s ththyhb mlka byth mn wnpqtha khdth ae dy wndbk thltha gll abn dy ndbkyn
with three courses of great stones and a course of new timber. Let the expenses be given out of the king’s house.

ואף מאני בית אלהא די דהבה וכספא די נבוכדנצר הנפק מן היכלא די בירושלם והיבל לבבל יהתיבון ויהך להיכלא די בירושלם לאתרה ותחת בבית אלהא {ס}
s alha bbyth wthkhth lathrh byrwshlm dy lhykla wyhk yhthybwn lbbl whybl byrwshlm dy hykla mn hnpq nbwkdntsr dy wkspa dhbh dy alha byth many wap
Also let the gold and silver vessels of God’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple which is at Jerusalem and brought to Babylon, be restored and brought again to the temple which is at Jerusalem, everything to its place. You shall put them in God’s house.

כען תתני פחת עבר נהרה שתר בוזני וכנותהון אפרסכיא די בעבר נהרה רחיקין הוו מן תמה
thmh mn hww rkhyqyn nhrh bebr dy aprskya wknwthhwn bwzny shthr nhrh ebr pkhth ththny ken
Now therefore, Tattenai, governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and your companions the Apharsachites, who are beyond the River, you must stay far from there.

שבקו לעבידת בית אלהא דך פחת יהודיא ולשבי יהודיא בית אלהא דך יבנון על אתרה
athrh el ybnwn dk alha byth yhwdya wlshby yhwdya pkhth dk alha byth lebydth shbqw
Leave the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.

ומני שים טעם למא די תעבדון עם שבי יהודיא אלך למבנא בית אלהא דך ומנכסי מלכא די מדת עבר נהרה אספרנא נפקתא תהוא מתיהבא לגבריא אלך די לא לבטלא
lbTla la dy alk lgbrya mthyhba thhwa npqtha asprna nhrh ebr mdth dy mlka wmnksy dk alha byth lmbna alk yhwdya shby em thebdwn dy lma Tem shym wmny
Moreover I make a decree regarding what you shall do for these elders of the Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king’s goods, even of the tribute beyond the River, expenses must be given with all diligence to these men, that they not be hindered.

ומה חשחן ובני תורין ודכרין ואמרין ׀ לעלון ׀ לאלה שמיא חנטין מלח ׀ חמר ומשח כמאמר כהניא די בירושלם להוא מתיהב להם יום ׀ ביום די לא שלו
shlw la dy ywmbywm lhm mthyhb lhwa byrwshlm dy khnya kmamr wmshkh khmr mlkh khnTyn shmya wamrynlelwnlalh wdkryn thwryn wbny khshkhn wmh
That which they have need of, including young bulls, rams, and lambs, for burnt offerings to the God of heaven; also wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the word of the priests who are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail,

די להון מהקרבין ניחוחין לאלה שמיא ומצלין לחיי מלכא ובנוהי
wbnwhy mlka lkhyy wmtslyn shmya lalh nykhwkhyn mhqrbyn lhwn dy
that they may offer sacrifices of pleasant aroma to the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king and of his sons.

ומני שים טעם די כל אנש די יהשנא פתגמא דנה יתנסח אע מן ביתה וזקיף יתמחא עלהי וביתה נולו יתעבד על דנה
dnh el ythebd nwlw wbythh elhy ythmkha wzqyp bythh mn ae ythnskh dnh pthgma yhshna dy ansh kl dy Tem shym wmny
I have also made a decree that whoever alters this message, let a beam be pulled out from his house, and let him be lifted up and fastened on it; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

ואלהא די שכן שמה תמה ימגר כל מלך ועם די ׀ ישלח ידה להשניה לחבלה בית אלהא דך די בירושלם אנה דריוש שמת טעם אספרנא יתעבד {פ}
p ythebd asprna Tem shmth drywsh anh byrwshlm dy dk alha byth lkhblh lhshnyh ydh yshlkh dy wem mlk kl ymgr thmh shmh shkn dy walha
May the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who stretch out their hand to alter this, to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree. Let it be done with all diligence.

אדין תתני פחת עבר נהרה שתר בוזני וכנותהון לקבל די שלח דריוש מלכא כנמא אספרנא עבדו

Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and their companions did accordingly with all diligence, because Darius the king had sent a decree.

ושבי יהודיא בנין ומצלחין בנבואת חגי נביא וזכריה בר עדוא ובנו ושכללו מן טעם אלה ישראל ומטעם כורש ודריוש וארתחששתא מלך פרס
prs mlk warthkhshshtha wdrywsh kwrsh wmTem yshral alh Tem mn wshkllw wbnw edwa br wzkryh nbya khgy bnbwath wmtslkhyn bnyn yhwdya wshby
The elders of the Jews built and prospered, through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the decree of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

ושיציא ביתה דנה עד יום תלתה לירח אדר די היא שנת שת למלכות דריוש מלכא {פ}
p mlka drywsh lmlkwth shth shnth hya dy adr lyrkh thlthh ywm ed dnh bythh wshytsya
This house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

ועבדו בני ישראל כהניא ולויא ושאר בני גלותא חנכת בית אלהא דנה בחדוה
bkhdwh dnh alha byth khnkth glwtha bny wshar wlwya khnya yshral bny webdw
The children of Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.

והקרבו לחנכת בית אלהא דנה תורין מאה דכרין מאתין אמרין ארבע מאה וצפירי עזין לחטאה על כל ישראל תרי עשר למנין שבטי ישראל
yshral shbTy lmnyn eshr thry yshral kl el lkhTah ezyn wtspyry mah arbe amryn mathyn dkryn mah thwryn dnh alha byth lkhnkth whqrbw
They offered at the dedication of this house of God one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve male goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

והקימו כהניא בפלגתהון ולויא במחלקתהון על עבידת אלהא די בירושלם ככתב ספר משה {פ}
p mshh spr kkthb byrwshlm dy alha ebydth el bmkhlqthhwn wlwya bplgthhwn khnya whqymw
They set the priests in their divisions and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God which is at Jerusalem, as it is written in the book of Moses.

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܫܒܝܬܐ ܦܣܟ ܒܐܪܒܥܣܪ̈ܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ
qdmy' byrkh' b'rbesr' psk shbyth' bny webdw
The children of the captivity kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܐܬܕܟܝܘ ܟܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܘܠܘ̈ܝܐ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܘܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܐܬܕܟܝܘ ܘܩܛܠܘ ܐܡܪ̈ܐ ܒܦܨܚܐ ܠܟܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܫܒܝܬܐ ܘܠܐܚܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܟܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn w'p kwmr' wl'khyhwn shbyth' bny lkl bptskh' 'mr' wqTlw 'thdkyw wkwlhwn 'kkhd' wlwy' kwmr' d'thdkyw mTwl
Because the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together, all of them were pure. They killed the Passover for all the children of the captivity, for their brothers the priests, and for themselves.

ܘܐܟܠܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܠܩܘ ܡܢ ܫܒܝܬܐ ܕܒܒܠ ܟܠ ܕܦ̣ܪܫ ܡܢ ܛܡܐܘܬܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
d'ysryl 'lh' mry' qdm lmtslyw d're' demm' Tm'wth' mn dprsh kl dbbl shbyth' mn dslqw 'ylyn 'ysryl bny w'klw
The children of Israel who had returned out of the captivity, and all who had separated themselves to them from the filthiness of the nations of the land to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, ate,

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܥܐܕܐ ܕܦܛܝܪ̈ܐ ܫܒܥܐ ܝܘܡ̈ܝܢ ܒܚܕܘܬܐ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܚܕܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܗܦܟ ܠܒܐ ܕܡܠܟ̈ܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܩܘ ܐܝ̈ܕܝܗܘܢ ܒܥܒ̇ܕܐ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ
d'ysryl 'lh' dmry' dbyth' bebd' 'ydyhwn lmkhzqw lwthhwn d'thwr dmlk' lb' w'hpk mry' 'nwn dkhdy mTwl bkhdwth' ywmyn shbe' dpTyr' e'd' webdw
and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; because Yahweh had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of God, the God of Israel’s house.
