והוה בשתא שתיתי בשתיתאה בחמשא לירחא אמר נביא אנא יתיב בביתי וסבי בית יהודה יתבין קדמי ושרת עלי תמן רוח נבואה מן קדם יי אלהים:
alhym yy qdm mn nbwah rwkh thmn ely wshrth qdmy ythbyn yhwdh byth wsby bbythy ythyb ana nbya amr lyrkha bkhmsha bshthythah shthythy bshtha whwh
In the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the Lord Yahweh’s hand fell on me there.

וחזית והא דמות כחיזו אשתא חיזו יקר דלא יכלא עינא למחזי ולית אפשר לאסתכלא ביה ולרע חיזו אשתא וחיזו יקר דלא יכלא עינא למחזי ולא אפשר לאסתכלא ביה ולעילא כחיזו זהרא כעין חשמל:
khshml keyn zhra kkhyzw wleyla byh lasthkla apshr wla lmkhzy eyna ykla dla yqr wkhyzw ashtha khyzw wlre byh lasthkla apshr wlyth lmkhzy eyna ykla dla yqr khyzw ashtha kkhyzw dmwth wha wkhzyth
Then I saw, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire—from the appearance of his waist and downward, fire, and from his waist and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as it were glowing metal.

ואושיט דמות יד ואחדני בסער רישי ונטלת יתי רוחא בין ארעא ובין שמיא ואעלת יתי לירושלם בחיזו נבואה דשרת עלי מן קדם יי במעלנא דתרעא גואה דפתיח לצפונא דתמן מותב צלם קנאתא דמרגזין:
dmrgzyn qnatha tslm mwthb dthmn ltspwna dpthykh gwah dthrea bmelna yy qdm mn ely dshrth nbwah bkhyzw lyrwshlm ythy waelth shmya wbyn area byn rwkha ythy wnTlth ryshy bser wakhdny yd dmwth wawshyT
He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the sky, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north, where there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

והא תמן יקר אלהא דישראל כחיזוא דחזיתי בבקעתא:
bbqetha dkhzythy kkhyzwa dyshral alha yqr thmn wha
Behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain.

ואמר לי בר אדם זקוף כען עינך לאורח צפונא וזקפית עיני לאורח צפונא והא מצפונא לתרע מדבחא צלם קנאתא הדין במעלנא:
bmelna hdyn qnatha tslm mdbkha lthre mtspwna wha tspwna lawrkh eyny wzqpyth tspwna lawrkh eynk ken zqwp adm br ly wamr
Then he said to me, “Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and saw, northward of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

ואמר לי בר אדם חזי את מה דאינון עבדין תועיבן רברבן דבית ישראל עבדין בא לאתרחקא מעל מקדשי ועוד תתוב תחזי תועיבן רברבן:
rbrbn thweybn thkhzy ththwb wewd mqdshy mel lathrkhqa ba ebdyn yshral dbyth rbrbn thweybn ebdyn daynwn mh ath khzy adm br ly wamr
He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you will again see yet other great abominations.”

ואעיל יתי לתרע דרתא וחזית והא חורא חד בכותלא:
bkwthla khd khwra wha wkhzyth drtha lthre ythy waeyl
He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.

ואמר לי בר אדם חתור כען בכותלא וחתרית בכותלא והא תרעא חד:
khd threa wha bkwthla wkhthryth bkwthla ken khthwr adm br ly wamr
Then he said to me, “Son of man, dig now in the wall.” When I had dug in the wall, I saw a door.

ואמר לי עול וחזי ית תועבתא בישתא דאינון עבדין בא:
ba ebdyn daynwn byshtha thwebtha yth wkhzy ewl ly wamr
He said to me, “Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here.”

ועלית וחזית והא כל דמות רחיש ובעירא שקוצין וכל טעותא דפלחין להון בית ישראל מצירין על כתלא סחור סחור:
skhwr skhwr kthla el mtsyryn yshral byth lhwn dplkhyn Tewtha wkl shqwtsyn wbeyra rkhysh dmwth kl wha wkhzyth welyth
So I went in and looked, and saw every form of creeping things, abominable animals, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed around on the wall.

ושבעין גברא מסבי בית ישראל ויאזניה בר שפן קאם ביניהון קימין קדמיהון וגבר מחתיתיה דקטרתא בידיה ויטור ענן קטרתא סליק:
slyq qTrtha enn wyTwr bydyh dqTrtha mkhthythyh wgbr qdmyhwn qymyn bynyhwn qam shpn br wyaznyh yshral byth msby gbra wshbeyn
Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel stood before them. In the middle of them Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan stood, every man with his censer in his hand; and the smell of the cloud of incense went up.

ואמר לי החזיתא בר אדם דסבי בית ישראל עבדין בקבלא גבר באידרון בית משכביה ארי אמרין לא גלן עובדנא קדם יי רחיק יי ית ארעא:
area yth yy rkhyq yy qdm ewbdna gln la amryn ary mshkbyh byth baydrwn gbr bqbla ebdyn yshral byth dsby adm br hkhzytha ly wamr
Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, ‘Yahweh doesn’t see us. Yahweh has forsaken the land.’”

ואמר לי עוד תתוב תחזי תועיבן רברבן דאינון עבדין:
ebdyn daynwn rbrbn thweybn thkhzy ththwb ewd ly wamr
He said also to me, “You will again see more of the great abominations which they do.”

ואעיל יתי במעלנא דתרע בית מקדשא דיי דפתיח לצפונא והא תמן נשיא יתבן מבכן ית תמוזא:
thmwza yth mbkn ythbn nshya thmn wha ltspwna dpthykh dyy mqdsha byth dthre bmelna ythy waeyl
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.

ואמר לי החזיתא בר אדם עוד תתוב תחזי תועיבן רברבן מאלין:
malyn rbrbn thweybn thkhzy ththwb ewd adm br hkhzytha ly wamr
Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? You will again see yet greater abominations than these.”
16
ואעיל יתי לדרת בית מקדשא דיי גויתא והא תרע היכלא דיי בין אולמא ובין מדבחא כעשרין וחמשא גברא אחוריהון להיכלא דיי ואפיהון למדינחא והא אינון מתחבלין וסגדין למדינחא לשמשא:
lshmsha lmdynkha wsgdyn mthkhblyn aynwn wha lmdynkha wapyhwn dyy lhykla akhwryhwn gbra wkhmsha keshryn mdbkha wbyn awlma byn dyy hykla thre wha gwytha dyy mqdsha byth ldrth ythy waeyl
He brought me into the inner court of Yahweh’s house; and I saw at the door of Yahweh’s temple, between the porch and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs toward Yahweh’s temple and their faces toward the east. They were worshiping the sun toward the east.

ואמר לי הא חזיתא בר אדם הזעיר לבית יהודה מלמעבד ית תועבתא דעבדו כא ארי מלו ית ארעא חטופין ותבו לארגזא קדמי והא אינון מיתן בהתא לאפיהון:
lapyhwn bhtha mythn aynwn wha qdmy largza wthbw khTwpyn area yth mlw ary ka debdw thwebtha yth mlmebd yhwdh lbyth hzeyr adm br khzytha ha ly wamr
Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Behold, they put the branch to their nose.

ואף אנא אעביד ברגז לא יחוס מימרי ולא ארחם ויצלון קדמי בקל רב ולא אקבל צלותהון:
tslwthhwn aqbl wla rb bql qdmy wytslwn arkhm wla mymry ykhws la brgz aebyd ana wap
Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.”
