ܒܪܢܫܐ ܡܠܠ ܥܡ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܥܡܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܐ ܕܡܝ̇ܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܠܝܗ̇ ܚܪܒܐ ܢܕܒܪܘܢ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܘܢܥܒܕܘܢܗ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܘܩܐ
dwq' lhwn wnebdwnh mnhwn khd gbr' d're' em' ndbrwn khrb' elyh 'n' dmyth' m' 're' lhwn w'mr emk bny em mll brnsh'
“Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and tell them, ‘When I bring the sword on a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and set him for their watchman,

ܘܡܐ ܕܚܙܐ ܚܪܒܐ ܕܐܬ̇ܝܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܢܩܪܐ ܒܩܪܢܐ ܘܢܙܗܪ ܠܥܡܐ
lem' wnzhr bqrn' nqr' elyhwn d'thy' khrb' dkhz' wm'
if, when he sees the sword come on the land, he blows the trumpet and warns the people,

ܘܡ̇ܢ ܕܫܡ̇ܥ ܩܠܐ ܕܩܪܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܙܕܗܪ ܘܐܬ̇ܝܐ ܚܪܒܐ ܘܢܣ̇ܒܐ ܠܗ ܕܡܗ ܒܪܝܫܗ
bryshh dmh lh wnsb' khrb' w'thy' mzdhr wl' dqrn' ql' dshme wmn
then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and doesn’t heed the warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.

ܘܐܢ ܐܙܕܗܪ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܦܨܐ
mpts' npshh 'zdhr w'n
He heard the sound of the trumpet and didn’t take warning. His blood will be on him; whereas if he had heeded the warning, he would have delivered his soul.

ܕܘܩܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܐ ܕܚܙܐ ܚܪܒܐ ܕܐܬ̇ܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܩܪܐ ܒܩܪܢܐ ܘܠܥܡܐ ܠܐ ܙܗܪ ܘܐܬܬ ܚܪܒܐ ܘܢܣܒܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܦܫܐ ܗ̇ܝ ܢܦܫܐ ܒܚ̈ܛܗܝܗ̇ ܐܬܢܣܒܬ ܘܕܡܗ̇ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܕܘܩܐ ܐܬܒܥ
'thbe ddwq' 'ydwhy mn wdmh 'thnsbth bkhThyh npsh' hy npsh' mnhwn wnsbth khrb' w'thth zhr l' wlem' bqrn' qr' wl' d'thy' khrb' dkhz' m' dyn dwq'
But if the watchman sees the sword come and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܘܩܐ ܝܗ̇ܒܬܟ ܠܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܬܫܡܥ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܬܙܗܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢܝ
mny 'nwn wthzhr mlth' pwmy mn dthshme 'ysryl ldbyth yhbthk dwq' 'nsh' br dyn 'nth
“So you, son of man, I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warnings from me.

ܡܐ ܕܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܕܡܡܬ ܬܡܘܬ ܘܠܐ ܐܡ̣ܪܬ ܠܗ ܠܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܕܢܙܕܗܪ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܗ̇ܘ ܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܒܥܘ̣ܠܗ ܢܡܘܬ ܘܕܡܗ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܝܟ ܐܬܒܥ
'thbe 'ydyk mn wdmh nmwth bewlh ewl' hw 'wrkhh mn dnzdhr lewl' lh 'mrth wl' thmwth dmmth lewl' d'mrth m'
When I tell the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you don’t speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܐܢ ܙܗܪܬܝܗܝ ܠܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܕܢܗܦܘܟ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܘܠܐ ܗܦܟ ܗܘ ܒܥܘ̣ܠܗ ܢܡܘܬ ܘܐܢܬ ܢܦܫܟ ܦܨܝܬ
ptsyth npshk w'nth nmwth bewlh hw hpk wl' 'wrkhh mn dnhpwk lewl' zhrthyhy 'n dyn 'nth
Nevertheless, if you warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he doesn’t turn from his way; he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪܬܘܢ ܕܥܘ̣ܠܢ ܘܚ̈ܛܗܝܢ ܥܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܒܗܘܢ ܡܬܡܣܝܢܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܚܐ̇ܝܢ ܚܢܢ
khnn kh'yn 'ykn' mthmsynn wbhwn 'nwn elyn wkhThyn dewln 'mrthwn hkn' 'ysryl ldbyth 'mr brnsh' dyn 'nth
“You, son of man, tell the house of Israel: ‘You say this, “Our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we pine away in them. How then can we live?”’

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܝ ܐܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܨ̇ܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܒܡܘܬܗ ܕܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܐܠܐ ܕܢܬܘܒ ܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܘ̣ܠܗ ܘܢܚܐ ܬܘܒܘ ܘܐܬܦܢܘ ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟܘܢ ܒܝ̈ܫܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܡܘܬܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl dbyth thmwthwn wl' byshth' 'wrkhthkwn mn w'thpnw thwbw wnkh' ewlh mn ewl' dnthwb 'l' dewl' bmwthh 'n' tsb' dl' mrwth' mr' 'mr 'n' khy lhwn 'mr
Tell them, ‘“As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܒ̈ܢܝ ܥܡܟ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܗ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܐ ܡܦܨܝܐ ܠܗ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܚܛ̇ܐ ܘܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܬܩܠ ܒܥܘ̣ܠܗ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܡܬܦܢܐ ܡܢ ܥܘ̣ܠܗ ܘܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܐ ܚܝ̇ܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܚܛ̇ܐ
dkhT' bywm' khy' l' wzdyq' ewlh mn dmthpn' bywm' bewlh mththql l' wewl' dkhT' bywm' lh mptsy' l' dzdyq' zdyqwthh emk lbny 'mr brnsh' dyn 'nth
“You, son of man, tell the children of your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him in the day of his disobedience. And as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not fall by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; neither will he who is righteous be able to live by it in the day that he sins.

ܡܐ ܕܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܕܡܚܐ ܢܚܐ ܘܐܬܬܟܠ ܥܠ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܗ ܘܒܬܪܟܢ ܥܒܕ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܟܘܠܗ̇ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܗ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܐ ܬܬܕܟܪ ܠܗ ܐܠܐ ܒܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܢܡܘܬ
nmwth debd bewl' 'l' lh ththdkr l' debd zdyqwthh kwlh ewl' ebd wbthrkn zdyqwthh el w'ththkl nkh' dmkh' lzdyq' d'mrth m'
When I tell the righteous that he will surely live, if he trusts in his righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but he will die in his iniquity that he has committed.

ܘܡܐ ܕܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܕܡܡܬ ܬܡܘܬ ܘܢܗܦܘܟ ܡܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܘܗܝ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
wzdyqwth' dyn' wnebd khThwhy mn wnhpwk thmwth dmmth lewl' d'mrth wm'
Again, when I say to the wicked, “You will surely die,” if he turns from his sin and does that which is lawful and right,

ܘܡܫܟܢܐ ܕܢܣܒ ܢܦܢܐ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܛܠܡ ܢܦܪܘܥ ܘܒܦܘ̈ܩܕܢܐ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܢܗܠܟ ܘܠܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܡܚܐ ܢܚܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܡܘܬ
nmwth wl' nkh' mkh' ewl' nebd wl' nhlk dkhy' wbpwqdn' nprwe dTlm wmdm npn' dnsb wmshkn'
if the wicked restore the pledge, give again that which he had taken by robbery, walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity, he will surely live. He will not die.

ܘܚ̈ܛܗܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܐ ܢܬܕܟܪܘܢ ܠܗ ܐܠܐ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܘܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܢܚܐ
nkh' debd wbzdyqwth' bdyn' 'l' lh nthdkrwn l' debd klhwn wkhTh'
None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has done that which is lawful and right. He will surely live.

ܘܐܡ̇ܪܝܢ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܥܡܟ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗܘܢ ܗܘ ܕܝܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܢ
shpyrn l' dylhwn hw 'wrkhthhwn dmry' 'wrkhh shpyr' l' emk bny w'mryn
“‘Yet the children of your people say, “The way of the Lord is not fair;” but as for them, their way is not fair.

ܘܟܕ ܢܗܦܘܟ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܡܢ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܗ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܒܥܘܠܗ ܢܡܘܬ
nmwth bewlh ewl' wnebd zdyqwthh mn zdyq' nhpwk wkd
When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will even die therein.

ܘܟܕ ܢܗܦܘܟ ܥܘ̇ܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܘܠܘܬܗ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܢܚܐ
nkh' bhwn wzdyqwth' dyn' wnebd ewlwthh mn ewl' nhpwk wkd
When the wicked turns from his wickedness and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it.

ܘܐܡ̇ܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܢܫ ܐܝܟ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܐܕܘܢܟܘܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl byth 'dwnkwn 'wrkhthh 'yk 'nsh dmry' 'wrkhh shpyr' l' 'nthwn w'mryn
Yet you say, “The way of the Lord is not fair.” House of Israel, I will judge every one of you after his ways.’”

ܒܫܢܬ ܚܕܥܣܪ̈ܐ ܒܚܡܫܬܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܥܣܪܐ ܕܫܒܝܬܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܕܐܬܦܨܝ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܐܬܚܪܒܬ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ
mdynth' 'thkhrbth ly w'mr 'wrshlm mn d'thptsy lwthy 'th' dshbythn desr' byrkh' bkhmshth' khdesr' bshnth
In the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, one who had escaped out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, “The city has been defeated!”

ܘܥܕ ܠܐ ܢܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܬܦܨܝ ܗܘܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠܝ ܒܪܡܫܐ ܘܦܬܚ ܦܘܡܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܐܬܦܨܝ ܒܨܦܪܐ ܘܟܕ ܐܬܦܬܚ ܦܘܡܝ ܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܐܬܬܚܕ
'ththkhd l' thwb pwmy 'thpthkh wkd btspr' d'thptsy hw lwthy d'th' edm' pwmy wpthkh brmsh' ely dmry' 'ydh hwth d'thptsy hw lwthy n'th' l' wed
Now Yahweh’s hand had been on me in the evening, before he who had escaped came; and he had opened my mouth until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no longer mute.

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܡ̇ܪܝܢ ܒܚܪ̈ܒܬܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܡ̇ܪܝܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܕܚܕ ܗܘܐ ܝܪܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܚܢܢ ܕܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܚܢܢ ܠܐ ܝܪܬܝܢܢ ܠܗ̇
lh yrthynn l' khnn dsgy'' khnn 're' yrth hw' dkhd 'brhm 'mryn d'ysryl d're' hlyn bkhrbth' demryn 'ylyn brnsh'
“Son of man, those who inhabit the waste places in the land of Israel speak, saying, ‘Abraham was one, and he inherited the land; but we are many. The land is given us for inheritance.’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܕܡܐ ܐܟ̇ܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܥܝܢ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܠܦܬܟܪ̈ܝܟܘܢ ܡܪܝܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܕܡܐ ܫܬ̇ܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܨܒ̇ܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܪܬ ܐܪܥܐ
're' lm'rth 'nthwn wtsbyn 'nthwn shthyn wdm' 'nthwn mrymyn lpthkrykwn weynykwn 'nthwn 'klyn dm' el mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' lhwn 'mr hn' mTl
Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “You eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes to your idols, and shed blood. So should you possess the land?

ܩܝ̇ܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܣܝ̈ܦܝܟܘܢ ܘܥܒ̇ܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܛܢܦܘܬܐ ܘܐܢܫ ܐܢܬܬ ܚܒܪܗ ܡܛܢܦܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܨܒ̇ܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܪܬ ܐܪܥܐ
're' lm'rth 'nthwn wtsbyn 'nthwn mTnpyn khbrh 'nthth w'nsh Tnpwth' 'nthwn webdyn sypykwn el 'nthwn qymyn
You stand on your sword, you work abomination, and every one of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. So should you possess the land?”’

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܝ ܐܢܐ ܕܟܠ ܕܒܚܪ̈ܒܬܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܚܪܒܐ ܢܦܠܘܢ ܘܟܠ ܕܒܚܩܠܐ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܐ ܠܚܝܘܬܐ ܐܬܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܟܘܠ ܕܒܦܥܪ̈ܐ ܘܒܡܥܪ̈ܐ ܒܡܘܬܢܐ ܢܡܘܬܘܢ
nmwthwn bmwthn' wbmer' dbper' wkwl 'nwn 'thl lkhywth' m'kwlth' dbkhql' wkl nplwn bkhrb' 'nwn dbkhrbth' dkl 'n' khy mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' lhwn 'mr
“You shall tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “As I live, surely those who are in the waste places will fall by the sword. I will give whoever is in the open field to the animals to be devoured, and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves will die of the pestilence.

ܘܐܥܒܕܝܗ̇ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܠܚܒܠܐ ܘܠܬܡܗܐ ܘܢܒܛܠ ܡܢܗ̇ ܫܘܒܚܐ ܕܥܘܫܢܗ̇ ܘܢܨܕܘܢ ܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܒܠܝ ܕܥܒܪ
debr bly mn d'ysryl Twr' wntsdwn dewshnh shwbkh' mnh wnbTl wlthmh' lkhbl' l're' w'ebdyh
I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment. The pride of her power will cease. The mountains of Israel will be desolate, so that no one will pass through.

ܘܢܕܥܘܢ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܐ ܕܥܒ̇ܕܬܗ̇ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܠܚܒܠܐ ܘܠܬܡܗܐ ܡܛܠ ܟܠܗ̇ ܛܢܦܘܬܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ

Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment because of all their abominations which they have committed.”’

ܐܢܬ ܕܝܢ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒ̈ܢܝ ܥܡܟ ܕܪܢ̇ܝܢ ܒܟ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܐ̈ܣܐ ܘܒܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܒ̈ܬܐ ܘܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܚܕ ܥܡ ܚܕ ܓܒܪܐ ܥܡ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܘܐܡ̇ܪܝܢ ܬܘ ܫܡܥܘ ܡܢܐ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ

“As for you, son of man, the children of your people talk about you by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak to one another, everyone to his brother, saying, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes out from Yahweh.’

ܘܐܬ̇ܝܢ ܠܘܬܟ ܥܡܐ ܘܝܬ̇ܒܝܢ ܩܕܡܝܟ ܘܫܡ̇ܥܝܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝܟ ܘܠܐ ܥܒ̇ܕܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܒܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܘܒܬܪ ܬܪ̈ܥܝܬܐ ܗܘ ܕܠܒܗܘܢ ܐܙ̇ܠܝܢ
'zlyn dlbhwn hw threyth' wbthr bpwmhwn ddglwth' mTl lhwn ebdyn wl' pthgmyk wshmeyn qdmyk wythbyn em' lwthk w'thyn
They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.

ܘܚܫܝܒ ܐܢܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܙܡܝܪܬܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܩܠܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܟܢܪܐ ܚܠܝܐ ܘܫܡ̇ܥܝܢ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝܟ ܘܠܐ ܥܒ̇ܕܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn ebdyn wl' pthgmyk wshmeyn khly' knr' w'yk shpyr' ql' w'yk zmyrth' 'yk lhwn 'nth wkhshyb
Behold, you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they don’t do them.
