ܒܫܢܬ ܚܕܥܣܪܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܬܠܝܬܝܐ ܒܚܕ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܠܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ
lm'mr dmry' pthgmh ely hw' byrkh' bkhd thlythy' byrkh' khdesr' bshnth
In the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܦܪܥܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܠܥܘܫܢܗ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܡܝܬ ܒܪܒܘܬܟ

“Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt and his multitude: ‘Whom are you like in your greatness?

ܗܐ ܐܬܘܪܝܐ ܐܪܙܐ ܕܠܒܢܢ ܕܫܦܝܪ̈ܢ ܣܘ̈ܟܘܗܝ ܘܥܒܝܛ ܛܠܠܗ ܘܪܡܐ ܩܘܡܬܗ ܘܒܝܢܬ ܥܒܝ̈ܛܐ ܗܘܬ ܡܘܥܝܬܗ
mweythh hwth ebyT' wbynth qwmthh wrm' Tllh webyT swkwhy dshpyrn dlbnn 'rz' 'thwry' h'
Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.

ܡ̈ܝܐ ܪܒܝܘܗܝ ܘܬܗܘܡܐ ܐܪܝܡܗ ܘܥܠ ܢܗܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܚܕܪܬ ܢܨܒܬܗ ܘܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܐܪܡܝ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ
ddbr' 'yln' klhwn el 'rmy wswkwhy ntsbthh khdrth nhrwth' wel 'rymh wthhwm' rbywhy my'
The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. Its rivers ran all around its plantation. It sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.

ܡܛܘܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܬܪܝܡܬ ܩܘܡܬܗ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝ̈ܠܢܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܘܣܓ̈ܝ ܣܪ̈ܥܦܝܬܗ ܘܐܝܪܟ ܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܪܒܝܘܗܝ
drbywhy dmy' swg'' mn swkwhy w'yrk srepythh wsgy ddbr' 'yln' klhwn mn Tb qwmthh 'ththrymth hn' mTwl
Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied. Its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it spread them out.

ܒܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܐܩܢܬ ܟܠܗ̇ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܚܝܬ ܥܘ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܝܠܕܬ ܟܠܗ̇ ܚܝܘܬܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܘܒܛܠܠܗ ܝܬܒܘ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' emm' ythbw wbTllh ddbr' khywth' klh yldth ewpwhy wthkhyth dshmy' prkhth' klh 'qnth bswkwhy
All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs. Under its branches, all the animals of the field gave birth to their young. All great nations lived under its shadow.

ܘܫܦܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܒܪܒܘܬܗ ܘܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘܘ ܥܩܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܒܡ̈ܝܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' bmy' eqrwhy dhww mTl dswkwhy wbswg'' brbwthh hw' wshpyr
Thus it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.

ܐܪ̈ܙܐ ܠܐ ܥܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܒܦܪܕܝܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܥܪ̈ܩܐ ܠܐ ܕܡܘ ܠܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܘܕܘ̈ܠܒܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܥܘ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܘܟܘܠ ܐܝܠܢ ܒܦܪܕܝܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܕܡܐ ܠܗ ܒܫܘܦܪܗ
bshwprh lh dm' l' d'lh' bprdysh 'yln wkwl ewpwhy 'yk hww l' wdwlb' lswkwhy dmw l' werq' d'lh' bprdysh ebrwhy l' 'rz'
The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it. The cypress trees were not like its branches. The pine trees were not like its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.

ܫܦܝܪܐ ܥܒ̇ܕܬܗ ܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܘܛܢܘ ܒܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܥܕܢ ܦܪܕܝܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' prdysh dedn 'yln' klhwn bh wTnw dswkwhy bswg'' ebdthh shpyr'
I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.’

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܕܐܬܬܪܝܡ ܒܩܘܡܬܗ ܘܫܘܚܬ ܡܘܥܝܬܗ ܒܝܢܬ ܥܒܝ̈ܛܐ ܘܐܬܬܪܝܡ ܠܒܗ ܒܪܡܘܬܗ
brmwthh lbh w'ththrym ebyT' bynth mweythh wshwkhth bqwmthh d'ththrym el mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn' hn' mTl
“Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh: ‘Because he is exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick branches, and his heart is lifted up in his height,

ܐܫܠܡܝܘܗܝ ܒܝܕ ܬܩܝܦܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܐܝܟ ܚܛܝܬܗ ܘܢܘܒܕܝܘܗܝ
wnwbdywhy khTythh 'yk lh wnebd demm' thqyp' byd 'shlmywhy
I will deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him. I have driven him out for his wickedness.

ܘܢܘܒܕܘܢܗ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܥܫܝ̈ܢܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܢܪܡܘܢܗ ܒܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܢ̈ܦܠܢ ܣ̈ܘܟܘܗܝ ܘܢܬܬܒܪ̈ܢ ܣܪ̈ܥܦܝܬܗ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܚܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܛܠܠܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܫܒܩܘܢܗ

Foreigners, the tyrants of the nations, have cut him off and have left him. His branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow and have left him.

ܘܡܐ ܕܢܦܠ ܬܫܟܢ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܟܠܗ̇ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܚܝܬ ܣܪ̈ܥܦܝܬܗ ܬܗܘܐ ܟܠܗ̇ ܚܝܘܬܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ
ddbr' khywth' klh thhw' srepythh wthkhyth dshmy' prkhth' klh elwhy thshkn dnpl wm'
All the birds of the sky will dwell on his ruin, and all the animals of the field will be on his branches,

ܕܠܐ ܢܬܬܪܝܡܘܢ ܒܩ̈ܘܡܬܗܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܫ̈ܘܚܢ ܡܘ̈ܥܝܬܗܘܢ ܒܝܢܬ ܥܒ̈ܝܛܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܩܘܡܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܟܘܬܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܕܫܬ̇ܝܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܐܫܬܠܡܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܬܚܬܝܬܐ ܒܝܢܬ ܒܢܝܢܫ̈ܐ ܕܢܚ̇ܬܝܢ ܠܓܘܒܐ
lgwb' dnkhthyn bnynsh' bynth thkhthyth' b're' 'shthlmw lmwth' dkwlhwn mTl my' dshthyn kl 'kwthhwn nhwwn wl' nqwmwn wl' ebyT' bynth mweythhwn nshwkhn wl' dmy' 'yln' klhwn bqwmthhwn nththrymwn dl'
to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, and don’t set their top among the thick boughs. Their mighty ones don’t stand up on their height, even all who drink water; for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, among the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.’

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܢܚܬ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܥܒ̇ܕܬ ܐܒܠܐ ܘܟܣ̇ܝܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܬܗܘܡܐ ܘܟܠܝ̇ܬ ܢܗܪ̈ܘܬܗ ܘܐܬܟܠܝܘ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܟܡ̇ܪܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܠܠܒܢܢ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܕܒܪܐ ܐܬܥܝܦܘ
'theypw ddbr' 'yln' wklhwn llbnn elwhy w'kmrth sgy'' my' w'thklyw nhrwthh wklyth thhwm' elwhy wksyth 'bl' ebdth lshywl dnkhth bywm' mrwth' mr' 'mr hkn'
“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘In the day when he went down to Sheol, I caused a mourning. I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers. The great waters were stopped. I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

ܡܢ ܩܠܐ ܕܡܦܘܠܬܗ ܐܬܬܙܝܥܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܟܕ ܐܚܬ̇ܬܗ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܥܡ ܢܚ̈ܬܝ ܓܘܒܐ ܐܬܒܝܐܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܬܚܬܝܬܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܥܕܢ ܘ̈ܓܒܝܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܐ ܕܠܒܢܢ ܕܫܬ̇ܝܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ
my' dshthyn dlbnn shpyr' wgby' dedn 'yln' klhwn thkhthyth' b're' 'thby'w gwb' nkhthy em lshywl 'khththh wkd 're' 'ththzyeth dmpwlthh ql' mn
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. All the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.

ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܚܬܘ ܥܡܗ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܠܘܬ ܩ̈ܛܝܠܝ ܣܝܦܐ ܘܙܪܥܗ ܝܬܒܘ ܒܛܠܠܗ ܒܝܢܬ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ

They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, who lived under his shadow in the middle of the nations.

ܠܐܝܢܐ ܡܢ ܐܝ̈ܠܢܐ ܕܥܕܢ ܐܬܕܡܝܬ ܒܫܘܒܚܐ ܘܒܪܒܘܬܐ ܘܢܚܬܬ ܥܡ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܥܕܢ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܬܚܬܝܬܐ ܒܝܢܬ ܥܘܪ̈ܠܐ ܬܫܟܒ ܥܡ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܩܛܝܠܝܢ ܒܣܝܦܐ ܗܢܐ ܗܘ ܦܪܥܘܢ ܘܟܠܗ ܚܝܠܗ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ
mrwth' mr' 'mr khylh wklh prewn hw hn' bsyp' dqTylyn 'ylyn em thshkb ewrl' bynth thkhthyth' l're' dedn 'yln' em wnkhthth wbrbwth' bshwbkh' 'thdmyth dedn 'yln' mn l'yn'
“‘To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth. You will lie in the middle of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. “‘This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”
