1
והוה בחדא עסרא שנין בתליתאה בחד לירחא הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עמי למימר:
lmymr emy yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh lyrkha bkhd bthlythah shnyn esra bkhda whwh
In the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

בר אדם אמר לפרעה מלכא דמצרים ולאתרגושתה למן דמיתא בתוקפך:
bthwqpk dmytha lmn wlathrgwshthh dmtsrym mlka lpreh amr adm br
“Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt and his multitude: ‘Whom are you like in your greatness?

הא אתוראה דמיא לארזא בלבנן דנופיה שפיר וסוכיה מטלן ורם בקומה ועל נגדין שלח שרשוהי:
shrshwhy shlkh ngdyn wel bqwmh wrm mTln wswkyh shpyr dnwpyh blbnn larza dmya athwrah ha
Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, and with a forest-like shade, of high stature; and its top was among the thick boughs.

בעממיא סגי בסומכותא תקיף ית מלכיא שעביד לתחות מלכותיה וית שלטונוהי מני על כל מדינת ארעא:
area mdynth kl el mny shlTwnwhy wyth mlkwthyh lthkhwth shebyd mlkya yth thqyp bswmkwtha sgy bemmya
The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. Its rivers ran all around its plantation. It sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.

על כן ראים בתוקפיה מכל מלכי ארעא וסגיאת משריתיה ואתנצחו סומכותיה על עממין סגיאין באתנצחותה:
bathntskhwthh sgyayn emmyn el swmkwthyh wathntskhw mshrythyh wsgyath area mlky mkl bthwqpyh raym kn el
Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied. Its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it spread them out.

במשריתיה כביש כל כרכין תקיפין ותחות שלטונוהי שעביד כל מדינת ארעא ובטלל מלכותיה יתיבו כל עממין סגיאין:
sgyayn emmyn kl ythybw mlkwthyh wbTll area mdynth kl shebyd shlTwnwhy wthkhwth thqypyn krkyn kl kbysh bmshrythyh
All the birds of the sky made their nests in its boughs. Under its branches, all the animals of the field gave birth to their young. All great nations lived under its shadow.

ואתנצח בסומכותיה בסגי גברוהי ארי הות אימתיה על עממין סגיאין:
sgyayn emmyn el aymthyh hwth ary gbrwhy bsgy bswmkwthyh wathntskh
Thus it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches; for its root was by many waters.

מלכין תקיפין לא אתנצחו לקבלה בתקוף גבורא דהות עמה מן קדם יי שלטונין לא קמו קדם משריתיה וגברין לא יכילו כסימכותיה בתקוף גבורא דהות עמיה מן קדם יי לא דמיה ליה בתוקפיה:
bthwqpyh lyh dmyh la yy qdm mn emyh dhwth gbwra bthqwp ksymkwthyh ykylw la wgbryn mshrythyh qdm qmw la shlTwnyn yy qdm mn emh dhwth gbwra bthqwp lqblh athntskhw la thqypyn mlkyn
The cedars in the garden of God could not hide it. The cypress trees were not like its branches. The pine trees were not like its branches; nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.

שפיר עבידתיה בסגי גברוהי וזעו מן קדמוהי כל מלכי קדם בתקוף גבורא דהות עמה מן קדם יי:
yy qdm mn emh dhwth gbwra bthqwp qdm mlky kl qdmwhy mn wzew gbrwhy bsgy ebydthyh shpyr
I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.’

בכן כדנן אמר יי אלהים חלף דרמתא בקומה ויהב מרותיה על מלכותא וראים לביה בתוקפיה:
bthwqpyh lbyh wraym mlkwtha el mrwthyh wyhb bqwmh drmtha khlp alhym yy amr kdnn bkn
“Therefore thus said the Lord Yahweh: ‘Because he is exalted in stature, and he has set his top among the thick branches, and his heart is lifted up in his height,

ואמסריניה ביד תקיף עממיא אתפרע מניה בחוביה תריכתיה:
thrykthyh bkhwbyh mnyh athpre emmya thqyp byd wamsrynyh
I will deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him. I have driven him out for his wickedness.

ושיציוהי נוכראין תקיפי עממיא ורטשוהי על טוריא ובכל חיליא נפלא משריתיה ואתבדרו סומכותיה בכל פצידי ארעא ונחתו מטלל מלכותיה כל עממי ארעא ורטשוהי:
wrTshwhy area emmy kl mlkwthyh mTll wnkhthw area ptsydy bkl swmkwthyh wathbdrw mshrythyh npla khylya wbkl Twrya el wrTshwhy emmya thqypy nwkrayn wshytsywhy
Foreigners, the tyrants of the nations, have cut him off and have left him. His branches have fallen on the mountains and in all the valleys, and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. All the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow and have left him.

על מפלת קטילוהי שרו כל עופא דשמיא ועל פגרי משיריתיה נחא כל חית ברא:
bra khyth kl nkha mshyrythyh pgry wel dshmya ewpa kl shrw qTylwhy mplth el
All the birds of the sky will dwell on his ruin, and all the animals of the field will be on his branches,

בדיל דלא יראמון בתוקפיהון כל מלכי קדם ולא יתנון ית מרותהון על מלכותא ולא יתרברבון להון בתוקפיהון כל עבדי מלכו ארי כולהון אתמסרו למותא לארעא ארעיתא בגו בני אנשא עם נחתי גוב בית אבדנא:
abdna byth gwb nkhthy em ansha bny bgw areytha larea lmwtha athmsrw kwlhwn ary mlkw ebdy kl bthwqpyhwn lhwn ythrbrbwn wla mlkwtha el mrwthhwn yth ythnwn wla qdm mlky kl bthwqpyhwn yramwn dla bdyl
to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves in their stature, and don’t set their top among the thick boughs. Their mighty ones don’t stand up on their height, even all who drink water; for they are all delivered to death, to the lower parts of the earth, among the children of men, with those who go down to the pit.’

כדנן אמר יי אלהים ביום אחתותי יתיה לשאול אתאבלו עלוהי חפת עקא ית עלמא וחרובא מדינתא וזעו עממין סגיאין וחשוכו עלוהי אפי מלכיא וכל מלכי עממיא עלוהי טפחו כתפא:
kthpa Tpkhw elwhy emmya mlky wkl mlkya apy elwhy wkhshwkw sgyayn emmyn wzew mdyntha wkhrwba elma yth eqa khpth elwhy athablw lshawl ythyh akhthwthy bywm alhym yy amr kdnn
“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘In the day when he went down to Sheol, I caused a mourning. I covered the deep for him, and I restrained its rivers. The great waters were stopped. I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

מקל מפלתיה אזעית עממיא באחתותי יתיה לשאול עם נחתי גוב בית אבדנא ואתנחמו בארעא ארעיתא כל מלכי קדם שלטונין ועתירי נכסיא כל עבדי מלכו:
mlkw ebdy kl nksya wethyry shlTwnyn qdm mlky kl areytha barea wathnkhmw abdna byth gwb nkhthy em lshawl ythyh bakhthwthy emmya azeyth mplthyh mql
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. All the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the lower parts of the earth.

אף אינון עמיה אתחתו לשאול עם קטילי חרבא ושלטונוהי אתברו מתקיפיהון בגו מלכותא:
mlkwtha bgw mthqypyhwn athbrw wshlTwnwhy khrba qTyly em lshawl athkhthw emyh aynwn ap
They also went down into Sheol with him to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were his arm, who lived under his shadow in the middle of the nations.

למן דמיתא כדין ביקר וברבו במלכי קדם ותתחת עם מלכי קדם לארעא ארעיתא בגו חיביא תשכב עם קטילי חרבא הוא פרעה וכל אתרגושתיה אמר יי אלהים:
alhym yy amr athrgwshthyh wkl preh hwa khrba qTyly em thshkb khybya bgw areytha larea qdm mlky em wththkhth qdm bmlky wbrbw byqr kdyn dmytha lmn
“‘To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lower parts of the earth. You will lie in the middle of the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. “‘This is Pharaoh and all his multitude,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”
